My room was dark. It was very hot, though the bed was comfortable I could not sleep. The thermostat could not be adjusted below 70 degrees, and the temperature in the room was 83. The body lotion bttle was empty and had not been replenished before my stay. People were friendly and helpful.

I very much enjoyed my stay at AKA Nomad. I purposely booked a balcony room to be able to see the New York Nightlife and it was excellent. Even when my electric blind stopped working, they fixed it immediately. My only complaint is the room was QUITE small. Obviously I can't see the layout of the room when I book, but could tell by the fire escape map, our room was considerably smaller than all the rest. Would absolutely say again.... in a larger room. :)

Front desk staff was pretty apathetic. When bringing up issues with the room such as conditioner being completely empty upon arrival, tv remote not functioning, or coffee station not being restocked with emptu dirty coffee cups left there despite cleaning staff having \"cleaned\" the room,they were not apologetic and very matter of fact. We were told you have to request the coffee station to be attended to as this is a different service from housekeeping. NEVER saw that in any other hotel before. Also how are we supposed to know of this stupid rule. ?? Oh and coffee pods are only free the first night, we were told. After that you have to pay extra....at that price range this aka hotel is a joke, really....

I stayed at the Hotel AKA Back Bay in Boston last summer and really enjoyed it, so chose Hotel AKA again for my recent stay in New York.

Spacious room by NYC standards, very clean and well appointed with wardrobe, shelf and drawer space. Particularly enjoyed the excellent rain shower and high-quality bath amenities. Friendly, helpful staff.

Only complaint: thermostat would not go below 70, which for me (I sleep hot) meant a choice between tossing and turning from too-warm room or street noise from open window (thank goodness it opened).

You should be clear about which water is complimentary in the room. I asked for extra towels twice and they never arrived. The door frame around the bathroom was cracked. The carpet has too many visible stains. There was hair in my bed upon the first day of removing the covers. Water wasn’t replenished on the second day.

Hotel was in a good location for walking and also transportation. Rooms were spacious and clean , however bathrooms were small - not a big issue for us. In terms of NY - it is relatively quiet although the traffic noise can be loud from Madison Av so you may need ear pods. Gym was not well enough equipped for the amount of guests . We were given one bottle of water on the first night per guest and some coffee pods- once these were finished you had to pay for replacement - I’ve never been in a hotel before where the water and coffee hasn’t been replenished and I’ve never been in a hotel that charges such a high destination tax and pretty expensive nightly rates so the two don’t really marry up .
Bar closes at 22:00 which is likely when most people are returning after a day of exploring .
Staff were very good.
All in all , I would return to AKA Nomad but I do think for guest satisfaction the issue around water and coffee pods is a very simple one to address to ensure guests return as the hotel really has no other amineties that would make me say Wow !

Our stay at AKA NoMad was extremely disappointing. While check-in was smooth, everything went downhill once we entered the room.

The room was unbearably hot. The hotel was locked in heat mode, and guests cannot adjust the temperature. If you like a cooler room, it’s not possible. We had to turn the system off and open the windows just to be comfortable, which is unacceptable for a hotel at this price point.

The biggest issue was the plumbing. Both mornings of our two-day stay, the toilets and showers were clogged. Maintenance had to be called each day just so the shower would drain. On the second morning, this caused major disruption, prevented us from properly showering, and contributed to us missing our flight.

Customer service was terrible. Even after speaking with a manager, nothing was offered to compensate for the repeated issues or to make our stay more comfortable. No accountability, no urgency, and no effort to make things right. At the very least, a complimentary night should have been offered.

This was a short girls’ trip we were really looking forward to, and it was incredibly upsetting for it to be ruined by preventable issues and poor service. The only positive was the location, which was convenient. Unfortunately, I would not stay here again and do not recommend this hotel.

My first time at an AKA hotel .
Be careful!
Stayed for 2 nights .
Reserved thru Expedia , booked a double bed room .
I was very disappointed and surprised when I got there . The room I was given had nothing to do with the ones pictured on the hotel site !
At $892 dollars the night !!

My first double bed room ( ROOM 1015) had a small 2’x4’ window over the headboard, high up the wall making the room extremely claustrophobic. ( I was then changed to a king size bed room )
The pictures on the site all showed a big long window !

Cons :
Very small rooms
Bathroom was black tiled and very poor lighting
Bathroom and room would fill with vapor from the hot shower water and the fire alarm would go off
Bar lights were not working
Nespresso machine had used pods on it
One nice large full mirror , but located in the entrance with no lights.

Pros:
Clean and nice bed , pillows, linen and towels
Very happy to have iron, iron board and steamer.
Courteous and helpful doorman and receptionist.
Well located if you want the broadway scene .

Our room had cockroaches. The staff didn’t do anything about it until we personally asked them for a room change. Then, they didn’t offer any sort of compensation and asked us to speak to manager about this issue. The manager then offered us complimentary breakfast which didnt make any sense. Not until we contacted Expedia customer support did they refund the destination fee. We still think that was not enough, considering that apart from the cockroaches situation, the service at the hotel was also super slow and inconsiderate. We were a group of 3, but they only restocked 2 sets of towels in our room, and when we asked for another set, it took them almost 2 hours and another call to deliver it. For a 4-star hotel, that was unacceptable

I wanted to share some feedback from my recent stay. I was genuinely surprised to see charges for the in-room coffee pods and even for the cartons of tap water. For a property positioned at the luxury level, these small essentials typically feel like part of the guest experience, not add-ons.

Charging for basics like coffee and water comes across as unnecessarily nickel-and-diming, and it impacts the overall impression of the stay. It’s the kind of detail guests remember—and not in the way a hotel of this caliber would hope.

I’d encourage you to rethink these touchpoints, as elevating the in-room experience and removing these unexpected charges would go a long way in reinforcing the premium, hospitality-driven brand I know AKA strives for.

Nice property in a convenient but quiet location which was reasonably priced (until you add the \"resort fee\" - see below). The room was of a good size with a wardrobe which can be a rarity in NY, comfy king bed as well as a window \"sofa\" and table. For a six night stay, it was sufficiently spacious. In-room amenities such as a Nespresso machine and a kettle, plus usual expensive items in the mini-bar which I did not consume. Generally the staff were friendly. At check-in they did not provide details of the VIP extra which was a drink for two at the bar, I had to ask, and I didn't benefit from an upgrade. I had supper on night in the bar / restaurant - a delicious turkey club sandwich with some truffle fries. Came to c. $40 including 18% service - not inexpensive but felt reasonable for the hotel and I enjoyed it. The resort fee which I know is standard in the U.S. was less palatable - $40 A DAY. For this, they provided two bottles of water upon check-in, no further bottles (to be fair they do note this upon check-in but seems very tight given the resort fee), six Nespresso capulses (three different flavours, I only drink decaf so after they had been used, no more) and wifi access. Other NY hotels that I have stayed in at least offered daily water and Nespresso capsules, a credit as part of the fee to be used in the bar / spa, or museum tickets, or other perks. Nothing here. It felt very cheap. I would not stay here again due to this which is a shame as I enjoyed my stay.

Hotel is a bit far from Times Square, rooms are extremely small elevator is extremely small 10th floor windows. Do not open to the rooms. AC is completely shut off in the winter and you are unable to control your setting in your room because the building is set to 70° so your room can rise and heat extremely fast.. There is no complementary coffee in the dining area for breakfast.
Hotel did accommodate by switching us to another floor that the windows did open room was much cooler. They did this immediately and much bigger space. Just beware of the rooms on the 10th floor . Staff was very nice. Cleanliness was great.

The room, amenities, and staff were all very lovely and accommodating, however I was unable to lower the temperature in the room due to the building being in “heat mode”. My room temperature was around 76 degrees at all points during the day even when the thermostat was turned off. I asked if the temperature could be lowered and was told they were unable to do that. They were able to bring me a fan after I called a few times due to the hot and dry temperature of the room. Not being able to alter the room temperature definitely detracted from my stay and sleeping with the fan wasn’t ideal for my nose and throat. I appreciate the staff for finding me a fan to use but I hope in the future others are able to alter the temperature of the room to their comfort.

Dim lighting doesn’t hide the poorly maintained grounds. Carpets were dirty in both rooms ( we were moved from the first room because it smelled like mildew), paint chipped, doors scuffed, hallways dusty, air didn’t work in second room and was super loud. If it weren’t marketed and priced as a luxury hotel, I think it’d be fine. It’s more reminiscent of a courtyard Marriott or Hilton garden inn rather than a luxury hotel. We checked out after one day of what was supposed to be a 5 day stay but the property was helpful in getting us refunded.

Couple of staff members shld b gone, otherwise ok

We moved from one room to another due to my company paying first 2 nights and we booked a PH after the initial room to stay the weekend. There was a date error so Wed to Fri was paid and PH was Sat to Mon leaving the Fri to Sat overnight missed. I was at a function when 11 am came around and a supervisor believed to be from downstairs was extremely rude to my wife at the room saying she needed to be out of the room. This was prior to me going back to discuss the missing night’s stay with Andy (which happened to be terrific and a real asset to your team) at front desk to book the room for one more night.
My wife was under the impression I had Friday night taken care of and was not aware of the date discrepancy. This person made my wife very upset by repeatedly coming to the door before she was able to get in contact with me as if she was refusing to leave.
