Good and comfortable stay with family. The location is amazing being very close to the main station. Also there are plenty of places to eat outside. The staff was quite helpful and friendly. The only discomfort felt was that the room was a bit warm. The refrigerator temperature was also a bit high and did not help much to store the food items kept in it.

This is quite possibly the best place to stay in all of Florence! Once we checked in I was blown away at how cozy and wonderful everything was, it was like a little cottage in the middle of the city, an easy 5-10 min walk to EVERYTHING, if and when I ever return to Florence I WILL be staying at this place again, I HIGHLY recommend!

Great location near the train station. Older property, stayed in an apartment. Difficult to find appropriate power points for international adaptor they are mainly 3 prong, found one 2 prong adaptor in the kitchenette. Very helpful customer service, we wanted to leave our luggage early to go on a day trip to Pisa and they were able to accommodate even though it was 630am.

First time at Florence

It is little difficult to find the hotel because it’s inside of a big door that was closed during business hours. Have to use an antique key yo enter the room. The hotel bathroom shower is very small that not easy to move around when we shower. Noise from upstairs until midnight and early starting at 6. When we complained the hotels staffs said they don’t owe the upstairs properly so they can’t do much about it. I would rate this hotel 2.5.

Very convenient to the older part of Florence. Hotel sits in the center of a block of buildings and must be reached through a narrow covered walk/driveway. Limited parking which is very challenging to reach. No elevators. Air conditioning inoperative because \"not the season yet\" even though the weather was warm. Opening the windows led to many mosquito bites..

This is a beautiful, historic hotel with high vaulted ceilings. It styles itself as 'a home away from home', justifiably so and I want to return. The staff care about everything. The location is great, being in between Santa Maria Novella station and the main sights of Florence. A restaurant very close by sold delicious Florentine dishes.

Great location, quiet, safe: walking distance to all the sites and train station, grocery store and endless shops right outside your door. Very clean, but not the most comfortable - itchy blankets, twin bed pushed together to make Queen size, slow running shower. But very good air conditioner. Nice continental breakfast: croissant, yogurt, fruit, pastries, eggs, cold cuts. Sofia at the bar makes a great cappuccino. If you need to use the kitchen they charge $25 Euro to unlock the cabinet to use the pots, pans and dishes. Good gas stove, working TV with some English channels. Staff is attentive but gives you your privacy. Great for kids. Would stay there again.

OK for a short stay

This hotel has seen its better days. It was sufficient for the short stay we needed, but I wouldn't want to stay very long. It's described as air-conditioned, but the unit in the room just gave off room-temperature air. I had a hefty number of mosquitoes in the room--and they actually provided electronic mosquito repellers, so it is clearly an ongoing issue. The shower drain was so slow I cold only turn the water on for brief periods of time. The bed was comfortable, and the guys at the desk were friendly and helpful.

GOOD: The location is the absolute best part. It is close to restaurants, train station, Duomo, and shopping. ADEQUATE: The rooms and breakfast - read more for detail. BAD: The staff - read more for details. DETAILS: The breakfast was pretty good. Nice selection. The rooms have a lot of stairs to climb. This is NOT the place to stay if you have trouble with stairs. You will have to climb stairs to get to the bedroom and then up and down to the main area and bathroom. The stairs are big fun at night (not). The room was clean. The bathroom was adequate. We reserved a room with two double beds, and got a room with two twin beds that were pushed together and a sofa that made out into a bed. A sofa bed is not a real bed - had a 4\" mattress. When I complained about the sofa bed, I was yelled at by the housekeeping staff. The beds are a single 5” mattress that is very, very firm. The pillows are about 2” thick. Besides the bed, we had a problem with the TV. At random, sporadic instances, it would start beeping. Happened all night long and through the afternoon. When a “technician” came in, he turned it on and turned it off and declared it “fixed”. When I explained that operation wasn’t the problem, it was the beeping, he shrugged his shoulders and said, “I don’t know.” When I mentioned it to the front office staff, they didn’t care either. The final problem was the toilet. It would just run and run, when I mentioned this twice, no one cared.

This is a family run business that has apartments with a loft above with a twin bed and a double bed...and a double bed on the lower level. This was roomy and fit our needs well. We went to the restaurant next door and it was good. The following night, we asked about another restaurant to venture to and they gave very good recommendations...happy. They are eager to please and happy to help. There location is very easy to get to from the train station.

An apartment with parking as a cosy private place middle in the old town in Florence. Everything is in walking distance, the cathedral, other churches, but also galleries, restaurants and shopping places. The rooms have a lot of space, however, the breakfast is not optimal. Car parking is not free, and it makes the stay more expensive.

Location very good...and their restaurant La Sosta Delle Contesse also very good.
However...one or two elements regarding the actual room we felt could be improved.
Staircase leading to bedroom could be an issue for some clients with mobility issues. Quite narrow and steep. Noise from adjoiining apartment ...wall’s seemed particularly thin. Shower area could do with a refurb...everything was clean and kitchen area seemed fairly well appointed ...al though we didn’t fully use.

Having access to a refrigerator and microwave was great so we could have some meals at the hotel. The stairs to the bedroom were steep and may be a problem for those with mobility issues but it was fine for us. It was a little warm in the room- we managed by opening the windows.

This is a fantastic place and next time I go Firenze I will most likelly book at this hotel again. We had breakfast and dinner included in our package and even with a limited choices on the dinner menu we ate very well for 3 consecutive nights and enjoyed our dinner. This hotel is just a few blocks from the Santa Maria Novella train station, the Duomo and some of Florence's fantastic street markets. The hotel is set back from the street so it felt like a quiet haven, separated from the throngs of tourists. The staff was friendly and spoke English. They gave us a map and marked the location of everything on our \"must see\" list. The room was equipped with a kitchen (cost to unlock the cabinet of dishes is 25 euros). Our room had a small living area, bathroom and kitchen, with a comfortable queen-size bed upstairs in a loft. My only negative comment is that there were no screens in the windows, so opening them ushered in a few mosquitoes. I would stay here again.

I would recommend this hotel to everyone. The people they have working there go way above and beyond. I was tired and frustrated with traffic when I arrived. The desk clerk went well beyond to get my car into the correct parking location- don't know what I would have done without him-Note: Not only the first guy... Good location, but not as nice as we'd expected

We stayed for two nights with 4 adults in one of the standard apartments. The location is good...an easy 5-10 minute walk from the train station, and just a few minutes walk to many of the major museums and other attractions. The beds were just okay, and the place was clean. But we didn't find the three-level layout easy to navigate. If you have toddlers, or travel with older people or anyone with bad knees, I'd advise against this..the steps from the entry level to the kitchen/living area are stone with no railing, then from there, you have to go up steep, narrow steps with an open railing to the bedroom loft. The lower level/entry door is where the bathroom is located (2 levels down from the bedroom). We found the kitchen situation very off-putting since there was a bent and broken metal window blind pulled down over the kitchen cabinets and sink. And when we pulled it up to access the sink, there was a chain and padlock on the cabinets. That's when we discovered we couldn't use the kitchen without paying an extra 25 euro and getting the staff to take off the lock. Sooo tacky and ghetto. If you're going to charge extra to use the kitchen (because you're afraid of...damage? Broken dishes?), for goodness sake, just roll a few extra dollars into the room price to cover that, and get rid of the horrible, bent-up blind and the padlock. Also be warned, the bathroom shower is tiny. Like, I'm a small woman and I could barely move in it. Overall, not a place we'd ever stay again.

It was a nice surprise to find La Contessina. It's an easy walking distance to SMN train station, major attractions in Florence, and many wonderful restaurants. It has its sister restaurant right outside its entrance, which I'd highly recommend to try - food was so great. The unit we stayed in was neatly maintained and very spacious - which came at a very readonable rate.

My stay at Residence La Contessina

The hotel is very close to the train station. It is central to all tourist attractions.
The hotel was nice. The front desk were helpful. The room was clean and nice. The breakfast area was very good and food was good. The staff were very polite in the front desk as well as Breakfast area.
The cleaning staff (the one lady we ran into 2 days during our stay) was not nice at all.
I plan to email the hotel about this one minor issue. If we had not been in the room, we would not have run into this. So, don't take this cleaning staff part as is.
The room was clean and spacious. the set up was very nice. Eating places were so close. We walked to most of the tourist attractions. The batch was very clean and decent size. The stall shower size is OK. I am 5' 9\" tall and skinny. If someone is bit larger, using the stall shower may be a challenge.
Only thing I would note is the mosquitos. There are mosquitos in the area. We had couple get into our room somehow. I managed to kill them.
Overall, the stay was comfortable and met our family needs.
It was a family of 3 and we were looking for a place with Kitchen and this hotel took care of our needs.

It is quiet hotel in the historic centre of Florence. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and one has also the possibility to park the car. The restaurant they have can be highly recommended. Next time in Florence, we will take it again.

Great location, large clean room, friendly staff

Room as described. Booked for family of 4. Nice Apt style with loft for kids. Fridge and small kitchen. Very quaint close to train station, perfect location. Steps away from all sights, cafes and shopping. Clean and spacious. Nice bathroom. Staff were warm and always asking how they could help us. Too early for AC units we were informed, but weather was mild and no problem sleeping with windows open. Courtyard is away from street so no noise. Would recommend and stay again!

Nice hotel walking distance to the train station.

Our family throughly enjoyed our stay at Residence La Contessina. We arrived to Florence by train so the location was perfect. We also took a day trip to Cinque Terre during our stay, and the meeting point for the tour was at the train station. We were very comfortable in a large room with a kitchenette. The hotel has a very spacious feeling to it. We were surprised at how easily we were able to walk to our favorite sights.

Perfect Location and Staff

It was an amazing place to stay. Location was perfect. We could walk to everything. The staff was wonderful. We would recommend to anyone and would stay there again.

Nice hotel that is a block from the train station

Proximity to the sights along with a wonderful family owned hotel and restaurant make this a great choice for Florence.
