Unprofessional staff when checking in. The hotel is made up of more than one building and I was in a building with no lift. I am not sure how this works for people with a lot of luggage.

A very affordable option for an otherwise very expensive city! Ideal for short business trips or those on a walking holiday. Clean, comfortable rooms. It's definitely the budget and of the Sorell collection of hotels but still has a few trademark perks like Rituals toiletries and a pillow menu.

The advertisement on Orbitz for this hotel was not accurate. We were placed in the older building with no elevator. With heavy luggages this was not convenient at all or older people will not make the two flight of stairs with heavy luggage. Also no air conditioner in the room, window was opened so you can hear the traffic noise.They have a newer hotel but they put us in the older building. The room was clean but our door shakes and makes noise when another guests open their door. Hallway carpeting is old. Shower was very small and old. Staff is very nice and breakfast was good.

Free ice cream was very nice! Great location easy access to train and rail system. Bathrooms and showers very nice and clean. Staff was pleasant, friendly and very helpful. A full Gym was a few blocks away and that was great. Overall great price great value.

Très bien situé pour se rendre au centre ville de Zurich en transport en commun, auto reste au stationnement de l'hôtelsans frais.
La dame a fait notre Chek in des notre arrivée vers midi, ce qui nous a réjouis après un long vol! Bon lit, bonne literie, bon petit déjeuner inclus avec plusieurs choix.
*Elle nous a dis ne pas avoir de carte pour transport gratuit, ce qui m'a surpris car partout on nous annonce ça et partout ailleurs on l'a eu....mais bon ça reste un très bon choix d'hôtel près de Zurich

Great hotel. Free breakfast buffet included. Only complaint would be lack of any type of air circulation with the window closed, so got a little stuffy at night when we closed the window to keep the outside noise gone. Enjoyed our stay!

An excellent hotel, let down by the lack of air conditioning.

AVOID during summer months.

The hotel is easily reached from the Airport by taking the No 12 Tram. It has easy access to the excellent integrated Zurich public transport system.

It is ideally located a short walk from the Samsung Hall event venue.

My room was a good size with a very comfortable bed and good bathroom/shower.

However, even with the large fan provided by the hotel the room was very hot and airless due to the lack of air conditioing,

Breakfast was plentiful, with good coffee. The hotel cable has a good choice of channels including several UK channels

This is a lovely hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the restaurant is excellent. There is also a wonderful sauna and spa. It was really unfortunate that our visit coincided with a heatwave because there is no air conditioning!!! We were provided with a fan but as we did not have a window that could be opened significantly all that achieved was hot air being wafted around. We were particularly unlucky to be on the top (4th) floor so we had a fixed skylight that acted as a radiator 😩. Temperatures were as high as 35 °C outside and I can't imagine what the temperature was in the room. It was unbearable and made sleeping virtually impossible. The restaurant was also unbearably warm, but eating outside was often not an option as it was hard to get a table. Since there is also smoking permitted anywhere outside, it was also very unpleasant to eat, even inside near the windows.

Our room was nice enough, but a huge area was take up by a non functioning open fire place, that whilst adding character, made the usable space quite limited. There was only one window that could be vented slightly and unfortunately it was on the balcony of the adjoining room, which meant we had people sitting directly outside talking and privacy was an issue. The bathroom was a good size but badly laid out. The shower was very small and could easily have been twice the size and water temperature and pressure variable so we were scalded or frozen alternately. More surface area is needed.

The hotel was very clean and modern and the check-in staff member was very helpful (sorry not sure of her name). The room was also very clean and was a good size but unfortunately had no air conditioning which made the room very hot and stuffy.

Negative: No coffee/tea making in room (only in foyer but no tea or milk), Too far from city centre and only hotel restaurant (quite expensive) and one other restaurant 500 metres away available for dining options. Also we found it quite offensive to see naked people from the spa from our window

Affordable Swiss hotel

We booked this hotel as it was close to the location of a concert we were seeing which was walking distance. Unfortunately our room was directly next to the entrance of the restaurant so till late and from 5.30am we would hear the door opening and closing and people coming past. When the restaurant door opened it caused our door to shake quite loudly from the change in air pressure. This was the only real problem. The staff were very warm and nice and the service in the restaurant was very good. Nice touches in the room with chocolates and the duck. Good value for a Swiss hotel. Did not really get to explore the local area all though quite a distance from the center of town but very close to tram stops.

The room comes with a yoga mat!

I stayed two nights for business, so didn't have time to use all the spa facilities. But what I really liked is that there was a yoga mat in my room, with instructions on how to do sun salutations. I had a long yoga session on one of the evenings and it was just so good to be able to do that in the hotel after a long day at work.

I'd definitely stay again in this hotel and other Sorell hotels (this is a Swiss chain).

READ BEFORE BOOKING - AVOID!!! HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!

The hotel gave our room to someone else in error and put us in a crappy room in the basement with twin beds without issuing a refund or credit claiming they were all booked out. The basement area smelled strongly of drugs and chemicals, possibly a meth lab (who knows), and offered us a dinner voucher for the inconvenience which we did not use. To add to the horror, we left the room and came back to the door and window wide open. We didn’t check out but it appeared as if someone broke into our room! Clearly this isn’t a safe place to stay! We requested a refund but they refused. Horrible experience. BAD SERVICE. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! The beds, sheets, towels, soap, shampoo/body wash, etc. are all low quality as well. The dishes during breakfast were mostly all dirty. Idk how this hotel is even operating. It was the worst possible experience ever and did not appear to be clean/hygienic. They also have a random kids play room in the basement, which literally looks like a dungeon from a horror movie.

Nice hotel for your next trip to Zürich

The Sorell Hotel Sonnental has a great staff and good facilities. The restaurant and spa are easily accessible and th me rooms are quiet. The hotel is close to public transportation, which is important because it is located outside of the main part of Zürich.

Rooms very basic and no air-con. Wellness area/Spa is clothing optional, with a number of men 70+ fully naked which was not the most pleasant sight. Restaurant staff helpful and food was good. Pool is a plunge pool, freezing and green, spa, sauna and relaxation area clean though.

A two night stay as I was working in the local area. The hotel is at a fairly busy road junction but I didn't hear any noise from the road to disturb me. There was noise from other guests, the walls seemed to be fairly thin unfortunately. The room was clean and comfortable, a good desk space allowed me to set up my laptop to do work, and the wifi connection was always very good. The restaurant on site has a good menu of meals (though mostly these were quite expensive - actually similar to prices in Zurich city center). The breakfast options were very good with hot bacon and scrambled eggs, cold meats, smoked salmon, cereals, bread, pastries and yogurts all laid out on the buffet.
There were no hot drinks facilities in the bedroom - though there is a hot drinks machine in the reception area that I used a few times during my stay.
I didn't make use of any of the spa facilities during my stay.
Travel around Zurich was easy from this location - the airport is about 25 to 30 minutes away by tram (the Ringstrasse station is less than 5 minute walk from the hotel) and getting in to the centre of Zurich is easy with Stettbach train station about a 10 minute walk away (the train journey is about 20 minutes from there).

We checked in late. The staff was very nice. Our room was tastefully decorated, with special lights and a spa tub inside the room. Very comfortable duvets.
Although we were too late for breakfast, we were served an excellent breakfast.

A good choice of hotel near N1 and airport. Bus stop in front of the hotel.
Definitely a place to recommend.

Arrived at 11:30pm to find the front desk closed with a stack of keys in envelopes. Eventually found our room (in a different building) but could not get online, which I really needed to do. No one to call for help. Our triple room only had 2 made beds. Again, no one to call, so I slept with a towel as my blanket. The next day the surly front desk agent handed me the necessary wifi code and told me I should have known the front desk would be closed and should have called earlier in the night for the wifi code. Really? By this time, it was too late to make the flight change I needed. This caused us to get stuck in Zurich for another day. Thankfully I found a room closer to the airport for half the price so I will never stay at the Sorell again or recommend to others. One bright spot: the breakfast workers were very nice and the breakfast was substantial.

Easy travel to Work

I was working at Cisco in Wallissellen Richtistrasse and this hotel is an easy tram ride and 5 minutes walk from Richtistrasse.
The rooms are good, clean and comfortable. Wifi is free and quick, plenty of hot water and a good sized proper shower cubicle so no clingy curtains or water splashing everywhere.
The staff are friendly and helpful, breakfast is good and the restaurant has an excellent seasonal menu of good food.
The hotel has a spa and fitness center but I did not get a chance to try these

Unfortunately it was a very hot night and my room did not have air conditioning, so I had the windows open for the night which let in the traffic noise.

Overall the hotel was good and I would go back.

The hotel is not too far from Stettbach train station, but quite a bit out from Zurich central. Overall the hotel is good, rooms are fine and the bed is comfortable. However, if it is hot you will need the window open, and until zurich airport closes there is constant airplane noise, and if your room faces the carpark/entrance/restaurant, it will be noisy until very late, and again from very early. If you are in town for business you might not get the restful sleep you might need.

It was very hot while we were there and the room had no air conditioning which made it stuffy even if the window was open. Bus right across the road and train and trams about 10 minute walk. Nothing around the area apart from housing so nowhere to get food apart from their restaurant. Breakfast was lovely with lots of variety. The staff were very helpful.

I was given a room above the kitchen which I could hear until midnight and then again from 5am. From 12 until 5am there was a constant hum from a generator or fan. The room was very hot and I couldn't open the windows because it became noisier and smoke came in the windows from guests and staff smoking by the back door below. When I complained in the morning, I was told \"Yes. Sorry - you are right it is because you are over the kitchen\" - as if they know about this issue. Really disappointing - I had a lot of driving and 2 important meetings to attend the following day. On the plus side, the restaurant offered tasty simple food, the décor was smart and the staff friendly.

perfect for a short stay in Zuerich

on a recent trip to Switzerland we decided to spent one night in Zürich and found this good value for money. It is only 15 minutes from the center of Zürich by car or easy to reach by public transportation. A nice wellness center is an added bonus and the location is quiet with free parking in front of the hotel. The rooms are well appointed, clean and comfortable and the free breakfast was very good and typical for the region with cold cuts, muesli and plenty of fresh fruits. Will be happy to return next time in Zürich.

Reasonable price for a real hotel near zurich.

After spending days looking through 180$ a night \"hotels\" in the zurich city centre that still required you to share a bathroom with the entire floor, I thought outside the box. This hotel, which comes complete with a well appointed breakfast buffet, comfortable and spacious room (with your own private bathroom!), and easy access to the train and tram stops was the perfect find. You can be downtown in less than 20 minutes, and pay a reasonable price for your stay. The pool is outdoor and connected to a waterfall and water garden, so the water was a bit on the 'green' side. I'm not sure if this is a Swiss thing, but enough that I didn't want to go for a swim (but why would you want to go swimming when you have zurich to discover??). Rooms are clean and hotel is well maintained. Staff was helpful (brought me some breakfast even though the buffet opened later than when I needed to leave to catch my plane). Great experience all in all. Last day was on the warmer side, and there is no air conditioning, so ah trouble sleeping that night. May not be a great stay when the weather is on the hot side.

Inconvenient location.

We found the hotel and amenities very good. There is a restaurant right across from registration in a separate building where they serve all day so is very convenient. Our only issue here was the size of the room. It was very small with the bed against the wall on one side. For people who get up in the night this was inconvenient as it means having to crawl over someone. I took advantage of the spa and had a massage. It was wonderful! The hotel is located in an area of large office buildings so does not have much ambience. It is a ways out of Zurich but alright if you have a car.

Hotel with a gym and sauna?

Great value, as the hotel facilities were fantastic- breakfast, use of the gym and WiFi were all included. There is a sauna, spa and restaurant on site, a train station 7 mins walk away, and the staff are friendly and helpful (and speak excellent English). Really recommend it.

Not for leisure or English speaking guests!

Although not unoleasant in itself, it immediately gave the impression of a business hotel. Staff were ok, but were not really outgoing. We had the honeymoon suite which was ok, but no english instructions and no english tv channels. This is not a hotel for people who are not able to speak german. The leisure facilities had absolutely no instructions for the english visitor and the reception staff were less than helpful in giving any meaningful information. Cleanliness was good in fairness and the staff were polite, but this is not an english language friendly hotel.

Good location when visiting Zurich

A few minutes by car, or by train, from the city centre of Zurich. Calm neighbourhood, close to the Glatt shopping centre.
Excellent breakfast and good restaurant for evening meals.
