the place its self is about 25 min from town. but the train you take to the area is the one that reads ZOO or line #6
Zurich the breakfasts and food at the HOTEL were 100% Delicious. My husband had the chicken and veggies, I had the meatloaf. definitely would recommend and the walks in surrounding area just beautiful.

My room came with a nice view of the city and river.

Amazing views over Zürich and the lake and a nice outside bar and dining area, if you can get in! However, there was nowhere to eat outside (it was very hot) so we were forced to go into Zurich in the evening and it’s quite a trek. My big issue with this hotel however is the air conditioning which frankly was useless. I’d upgraded my room but it was tiny, up in the eves of the 3rd floor, and in the summer months you simply must have air conditioning. Apparently it’s new and if so they should get their money back! It was so warm we spent 2 nights with little sleep, and on the second evening were forced to open the windows instead and then had to put up with drunk rowdy people in the bar downstairs and fireworks for hours. Really disappointing when you’ve spent over £400 for 2 nights of no sleep...

we had a board meeting followed by dinner and I decided to stay in the hotel. Fine service and great breakfast, stunning views on Zurich lake and the Alps. My room was comfortable but without view in the new part, interesting for its arquitecture but I would have preferred a room with a view...that what make Zürichberg special...

I had reserved a room with bathtub and when I have arrived they said that the Hotel was full sold out and with not room with bathtub, but this is incredible If I did the reservation many time before the room with bathtub..Why they didn't respect my reservation ?

The room has no air conditioner. Thus, it was really hot in the last week. Also, it seems unlikely to have two separate beds. Besides these two little drawbacks, the experience was great. The staff was very helpful and kind. The surrounding area and the view are fabulous.

Beautiful setting overlooking the valley of Zurich including Lake Zurich. Free parking is nice because if you want to get back to the city it'll take 20-30 minutes by public transportation. One major drawback in Summer heatwaves: NO air conditioning.

The stay was great, hotel is very modern and all staff was really friendly and helpful. My only problem was that I was visiting when Europe had a heat wave (the worst they ever seen) and the room had no air conditioning. Not blaming the hotel for this because maybe is never needed but I wish I had it. Other than that, everything about this place was amazing.

Looks ain't everything

Looking at the pictures from this hotel, it should be a dream. Quirky, stylish rooms and a view over the lake to die for. It actually all looks like that in real life, so: what's the catch?
In fact, there are several catches and if you're willing to look past them, you'll have a great stay. First: would you like to be greeted? If you do, this is not the hotel for you. It's more exception than rule that the staff put on a smile and welcome you or just say hello. Staff distinctly make you feel unwanted. Secondly: do you expect housekeeping to, well, keep house? You'll be disappointed. A non-working, sticky TV, inability to clear away used glasses, tired furniture and fingerprints all over the place. But they do change towels and make beds so it wasn't all bad. Thirdly: would you like your complaints to be acted upon? Again, sadly, this is not your hotel. A simple request to repair a coat hook was ignored. Housekeeping also could not be bothered to clear away the plaster dust. Yes, the hotel did come and ask if everything was fixed (no, it wasn't) which I also took as an opportunity to mention housekeeping in general. They did send refreshments and a bottle of champagne by way of apology, but I rather I wouldn't need to complain. Finally: stay in the annexe and forget peace and quiet. The big open space amplifies all noise, even that coming from the corridor to the hotel and the main exit to the car park. Forget sweet dreams.
So, in short: nice from far, alas far from nice.

This is an excellent hotel in so many ways. The rooms are well-appointed and spacious. Views of the lake and the Alps beyond are gorgeous and a lake-view room is worth it. The service is friendly. Finally, I cannot say enough about the incredible breakfast that comes with your room - amazing.

We were only staying for one night, but wish we could have stayed longer! The grounds were beautiful and the hotel was nicely updated. The GPS directions were a little confusing because it's not a typically traveled road, but there's plenty of (included) garage parking. The included breakfast buffet was delightful. I'd love to return in the summer to sit on the terrace or in the winter for a cozy experience!

Check in process was exceedingly long, due to incorrect rooms being provided that did not match the reservations. Furthermore, a room that smelled of smoke was given and required being swapped out. The hotel itself is lovely. The restaurant was slow for dinner, but did accommodate for my small kids when we were finally approached by a server. The included breakfast was amazing! I would consider staying again, but budget an hour for check in.

We had dinner in the hotel restaurant. It was an AWEFUL experience. The wait staff was unimaginable bad. There must have been a hidden camera. It had to have been a joke. We spent two weeks at luxury properties in Europe and this was the ONLY bad experience. Three hours and 10 minutes for two courses. (It was only two course because they didn't bring the others.) After and forty-five minute wait, they brought our 18 year old (who is 6' 1\") a TINY child's portion of pasta, even though he did not order that. The staff fought with each other. I couldn't find a manger. No one ever came by and even when I tracked our waiter down across the restaurant he still refused to come by. I don't think there could have been a manager. The excellent chef was no salvation. Several hundred Euros later we left completely bummed out that we wasted our night in Zurich with this rude and incompetent staff.

Amazing breakfast & architecture but pricey.

Elegant hotel next to Zürichberg park. Rooms were not as spacious as I expected given the price, but still were pretty comfortable with nice amenities and partial city views. Next time I'll request the higher floors for better views of the city. Breakfast was the best we had throughout Switzerland (4 different hotels total) with great variety of cheeses, jams, hams, fruits and champagne to start your day toasting with mimosas! Staff was efficient but not the friendliest we encounter (again, nothing wrong with the service, just interaction was pretty formal more than casual). They didn't provide free public transportation passes for the family (they did so in Geneva, Grindelwald and Bern), so we paid about $10 USD each adult (kids are free). The closest tram stop (Zoo) is close by after a very steep driveway (about 5 minutes from the hotel and 10 minutes walking back, but is a really nice walk though!). They have a pretty big parking lot if you are driving. The hotel premises are gorgeous with lots of greenery for a nice stroll. They also have an outdoor area for lunch and breakfast weather-permitting. If you are willing to pay the extra bucks by all means indulge, but I feel unless you're celebrating a special occasion maybe keep the accommodations a little more budget-friendly and closer to the old center. Zürichberg park is next door which includes the zoo if you are traveling with kids. Also, for soccer fans, the FIFA headquarters are less than a 5 minute drive !

This is one of the best managed small hotels away from the vicinity of the city. it is ideal for an age of 50 and up, it is next to the zoo and FIFA headquarter. There are some issues next to the graveyard and to go to the city it will cost you around 20 to 30 swiss franks for each trip.or you can take the train 2 minutes walking distance. Otherwise, it is a good hotel before Halloween. do not let view mislead you. You are away from the city.

We got bored as there's nothing we could do in the hotel. No pool, not even a sauna, nor a fitness room. I did not feel safe using the faucet in the bathroom as it is close to a socket. And the sink, as modern as it looks, it's just a total failure. Water can't drain properly. The extra bed was very uncomfortable and was not ready when we checked in. Then they put it just beside the radiator so I had to use the sofa pillows to block the heat. Pillows are very soft and rather thin. Breakfast buffet is a delight. They even serve champaign. I booked a room with a view to the lake but got unlucky with the weather - so foggy. Other than that, the hotel looks nice inside and clean. All the staffs are friendly.

The hotel is a short bus ride from the center of the city located near the Zurich Zoo. The quality and standard of the facility is excellent as is the breakfast. Staff are friendly and helpful. The restaurant is pricey. The hotel style is unique and ultra modern.

We expected more from this hotel. It was way overpriced for what you get. Our least favorite hotel in Switzerland. The best part was the beautiful orange cat that they take good care of on the property. Staff seemed annoyed with our questions, room was very hot and lacking ambience. Lots of dust on the floor under the bed.

Like many hotels in the old word, great service and great food,beautiful property but ; rooms are small , no AC, limited to none luxury. Yes great views and staff was amazing, property grounds not a 4 star much less a 5 star, no pool, thus not a family with kids hotel. Rooms had a small tv just bigger than my iPad Pro (sometimes controlled by room next door ) would I go back ? maybe with no kids in the winter, maybe , just maybe...

Some rooms of the hotel are under construction during our stay, somehow it's ignoring as the noisy sounds start at 8am. Yet the main building of the hotel has a great and pleasant view!! It's not at the town center but accessible via public tram. Restaurant is super nice too.

My son & I stayed at the Sorell for two nights and throughly enjoyed our stay. Staff was helpful, including restaurant & bar staff. The view from our rooms was spectacular. We enjoyed staying at this hotel located in a beautiful neighborhood..went for a run around the upscale neighborhood. The hotel was easy to get to from the train station. We took tram everywhere.

I'm glad I had a good GPS in my car to find this excellent mansion-hotel perched high on a hill above the city. But once there, I was not disappointed. The view is wonderful (open fields give you an unobstructed view) - the city below (the sounds of church bells waft up as you sit on the terrace with a beer or glass of wine in the early evening), the whole lake stretched out before you with the snowcapped Alps in the far distance. The staff was very helpful and pleasant, room excellent, clean and quiet, breakfast was likewise excellent, and the food on the terrace was also very good (if pricey). I advise making a reservation in advance at the restaurant on weekends since they often have weddings parties and the place is full - I couldn't get a decent time without one. But the terrace above is a very good substitute - and you have that wonderful view. There's a tram just a two minute walk down the hill from the hotel which takes you right to the Center stop. From there you can just walk to see the main sites. Zurich Old City is, as is true with other Swiss cities, beautiful.
