Create location, good restaurants nearby. Very close to the heart of the action on fifth Avenue. Hotel is charming. Right on the beach. Staff could not be more friendly or helpful. Good restaurant on premise. Very good breakfast included. Room comfortable and clean. Good air conditioning and sea breeze. We have been there three times over 20 years and it’s only gotten better. Enjoy.

We were a group of 4. Our rooms were ocean front, 20’ from the water with private patios and balconies. Incredibly beautiful! One of our group had a garden room, which didn’t get the ocean breeze but felt like being in the jungle. The rooms were large and clean with ceiling fans and a/c. The hotel staff was lovely! The hotel is very safe and secure with a locked gate and overnight security guard. We always felt safe!

The restaurant staff was 10 stars!! Big shout outs to Isaac, Daniel, and the tall guy from Argentina (forgot his name.) The food was delicious, and the drinks were strong.

The property is so pretty, small scale and close to the ground, with a lovely interior garden. If you like cats, there is a family of 6 living in a lot across the street, and a couple of chickens. The bar right beside the hotel takes care of them ❤️

The hotel is a quiet oasis, and all the action is steps away on Quinta Avenida. 10th and 15th Avenidas are a few blocks walk, a little quieter, with a huge variety of bars and restaurants. There is shopping everywhere, a lot of it typical tourist fare, but off 5th Ave it gets cheaper. There is a an artisan market Thurs-Sun every week on 8th St and 15th Ave where we found unique, handmade, top quality art, jewelry, crafts and clothing, and there are many food vendors. Lots of locals in the plaza and sometimes entertainment. Definitely worth checking out the market for an authentic Mexican experience! About a 5 minute walk from the hotel.

The room the restaurant the garden all absolutely clean and welcoming. The location is perfect, safe and secure. The garden is beautiful and tastefully lit at night. The staff are so friendly and their service is first class.
I’ve stayed there 3 times in the last 12 months and there is NOTHING the hotel and staff could do to improve this hotel.
For me it is a home away from my home in Canada and I miss it the minute I check out.

We really enjoyed this small beachfront hotel. It has an authentic Mexican vibe with lots of stone pathways and tile and no elevators. Our large room overlooked the beach and had a large terrace with a hammock which was great for watching the sunrise.
The beachfront restaurant was well run, with good food and quick, friendly service. They provided food and beverage service on the beach also. The beach area is busy, but we were able to find beach beds fairly easily. The hotel is just a few minutes walk from Fifth Avenue, so was very convenient for shopping and restaurants. It’s not a fancy place, but we would definitely stay again!

Very poor wifi at beach side of hotel until they added another extender, worked well last 2 days of our trip.

Good: on beach, WiFi worked, air conditioning worked and there was hot water in shower

Bad: no TV, sheets on bed were stained ( but supposedly clean, I guess they don’t use bleach), No BLANKETS, just sheets,
No black out curtains,
Outside noise was very loud in room, and I asked if we could move to another room, and they said nothing was available.
No hair dryer,
Made to order breakfast was not made to my order since they did not understand English well enough. They told us we would also have bread, but the size of buns were barely larger than the jam samples.
Our second morning there was a cockroach lying upside down on the floor wiggling its legs, so we flushed it down the toilet.
You cannot flush toilet paper down toilet ( yes I know it is Mexico, but other resorts you can flush toilet paper down).

Pelicano Inn is a great place to stay. The staff is awesome! The room was spacious, did not have ocean view, but we were close enough to the ocean and would go up to the gym and have the whole terrace to watch the ocean. The ocean was not clear, but we would see it clearing up everyday... in a couple of weeks it should be zargazo free.
The breakfast was awesome! Isaac is a great server!
Place is very well situated. In the middle of everything, but also quiet enough to have a good night sleep.
Everything is walking distance. It is not a luxurious hotel, but it is a great one! It was the Perfect Place for our couple's getaway.

This hotel says they offer shuttle service however when I reserved and tried over 50 times to call them to make a reservation for shuttle all my calls went unanswered. I went into panic since it was my first time at playa and was really looking for a hotel with shuttle so that I could feel safer. I had to cancel my reservation to try and find another hotel that could answer and did not receive my money back either.

The hotel is older in architecture but is well kept, clean and comfortable. The retro vibe works and offers a quiet retreat away from crowds, bars and restaurantals. The location however is great as you are literally steps away from all the action.
The staff at the front desk were friendly and very willing to assist and ensure my stay was comfortable. The waiters at the restaurant were also cool and professional.

My only disappointment was the beach as it was full of seaweed. The hotel doesn't have controll over this as it affected all the hotels on the strip as well.

It’s well situated, but TV did not work and no parking which you have to pay extra. They offered breakfast and thing that it made it special was that they fix you a box with sandwich, apple and a bottle of water to take for early excursions.

This hotel is in the perfect location right off 5th ave. Very convenient if you're into the night life as there are 2 well known bars at the corners of the ave. The staff were all very lovely and super helpful. The food was amazing!! I do wish they had a pool but that is just a personal preference and doesn't take away from the hotel. The room itself was spacious and comfortable. Definitely would recommend and would stay here again!

The hotel is in a quiet, convenient location, which made for a very relaxing stay. The standout was definitely the staff—everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful, especially during breakfast, which was delicious and well-prepared. While the furniture and room decor feel dated and could use an update, everything else was very good. Not quite a 5-star experience due to the room interiors, but the service and overall atmosphere more than made up for it.

It’s not a place where you would spend a lot of time inside your hotel room. But I strongly recommend it. There are many shopping stores and many restaurants walking distance. The Hotel is right next to the beach and from the restaurant you can view the ocean. Security is great and convenient is a big plus! Many activities in surroundings

Great location and service. Sadly there was seaweed on the beach so couldnt really enjoy it fully. The other beach was completely clean, so hope the seaweed will be dealt with the same way as at Mamitas beach. What I did not enjoy is having one socket in the room placed in a very strange location. Hope this will be looked into at some point as it would really improve the stay

Great stay! My only critique is for the Hotel to implement that the 24-hr security guard have access to the master key to rooms in the event an hotel guest accidentally locks themselves out of their room. This happened to me one night after the front desk was closed (which was 11p) and I couldn’t get back into my room until the front desk reopened at 7a. Luckily, I had a friend who was staying nearby and I was able to sleep there but I would have much rather stayed in the room I paid for. Nonetheless, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and recommend it.

Not what was advertised

This is property has gated access and you need to buzz in and out each time. This may make you feel safe, but the question is - why is this required? The room was really basic and despite being advertised as a sea view you couldn't see it unless you climbed up and stood on the top of a wall. No balcony, despite the description. instead the room opened out onto an open walkway which was a right of way to others rooms - no privacy whatsoever. And despite saying the cost included all taxes, we were charged additional tax at check-in, where you were also told if you tried to hang anything out to dry you would be fined. We were not allowed to leave the premises at check-out until the room had been inspected for breakages and anything stolen (not that there was anything you wanted to take). The aircon was on/off, no alternative settings and you only had a sheet on the bed so we had to pile towels on top of us to keep warm in the night. It was unbearably hot if the aircon was turned off. The paths there so uneven you couldn't wheel a case - you had to carry it. So many up and down steps to get to the room, really not suitable for anyone who isn't a circus performer.

I loved the way the rooms were built around a central courtyard of trees and seating areas. The white of the surface walls was warm and welcoming. The property had the calm and comfort of an older property — the taste of an older property — I do not at all mean ‘older’ in the sense of dated. The full and large bookcase in the lobby was a pleasure to see. I had good help in arranging a shuttle from the airport to the hotel, and immediate response to a change in arrival that I had to make. Thank you for being such a special place — an oasis even though so close to the activity of 5th Avenue.

Beautiful place. Easy checkin..staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was super. My only comment is its hard carrying 50 pound luggage up the 3 flights of stairs as there is no elevator. Also we were unsure that the entrance was the long hallway..there should be a sign pointing to reception.

On the beach hotel, plus a block from the 5th...so that beats anything! The breakfast at their restaurant overlooking the beach made it all worth it. The property is a bit old, the rooms were simple and lacked the amenities of a higher star hotel, such as tvs/room service/furniture...I mean, there were no hooks or chairs or dresser in our room to put our stuff, but I can overall say it was a pleasant stay. They accommodated us when we decided to extend our stay (and it was over the holidays)! We are pleased w this place, just wished they put a little love into their rooms, update/furnish a bit better.

This little boutique hotel is a total gem. All staff, from front desk to restaurant to security people, is super friendly and helpful. It's right on the beach, easy availability of beach chairs, umbrellas, towels. You are a few steps from the \"5a Avenida\" with tons of restaurants, bars, etc. Surprisingly, we could not hear any of the noise from it at night. The breakfast that's included is great; you get your choice from their full breakfast menu that includes Mexican dishes (chilaquiles, huevos rancheros, etc) or more international fare (avocado toast, eggs benedict, etc). Our group of 5 reserved one beachfront room and one beach-view room and we could not be happier with what we got for the moderate price that we paid. There is a convenient affordable parking lot a couple blocks away (10th Av and 10th St ).

There are only a few minor \"negatives\": There's a lot of light coming into the rooms at night; blackout curtains would be great! There are rocks at the bottom as you enter the water so you have to be careful to not stumble or scratch your feet on them. The hotel was a little hard to find...Google maps lead us to a random spot several blocks away; probably because the streets right around the hotel are pedestrian only. So, whether you drive or take an Uber there, you'll need to walk a couple of blocks with your luggage. Also, the inside of the hotel has several steps with no handrails that were a little hard to navigate for our older relatives, especially at night.

Great Location!

Great location beach front and walking distance from the bus station. Friendly staff went above and beyond to accommodate all our needs. Delicious local breakfast included made to order and fresh. Perfect beach front Bar to seat and relax at the end of the day enjoying the view. The only pitfall was the Jacuzzi on the 'honeymoon' suite that was not operational, but the views from up there compensated. Will definitively be back!!

I visited this hotel 35 years ago, needless to say, so much of the surrounding area has changed. But the hospitality and feel of this quiet little gem was remarkable. The front desk staff did an exemplary job of giving assistance in a variety situations. The wait staff for breakfast were quick, efficient and friendly. There was a security guard on hand at all hours. The cleaning staff was friendly and for the most part invisible. The rooms are quite zen and clean. We had a spectacular view of the ocean. The hotel provided beach chairs, umbrellas, clean beach towels each day, and great little open air grass topped shade huts. Each room had wi-fi and television that took a little work to figure out but the staff was more than happy to quickly assist. The open air restaurant offered an incredible view and fine options for an inclusive breakfast. I can't emphasize enough how welcome the staff made us feel, quite refreshing after a
an action packed day of travel. I say this hotel is a gem and I couldn't be more sincere. This area of Mexico has been inundated with massive high rise swank glittery hotels/resorts that tend to feel sterile. The Pelicano hotel is a throw back to the day when going on vacation was meant to be relaxing and the people who were responsible for your comfort actually cared. If you are looking for an intimate and friendly stay without all the
hype, this is your hotel. Keep in mind, it is still the Mexican Riviera and it is at times noisy, but worth it.

Our stay met our needs. The restaurant breakfast was good, service was great from all staff, even even booked a day early on accident and didn't check in on time. We would've liked having lounge chairs on our patio as well as the beach. The beds were decent though a bit firm for some of us. We felt safe on hotel property and appreciated having a mini fridge. Ventilation in the bathroom would've helped with humidity and smells. We turned off the AC when we were gone all day and the room smelled unpleasant until the AC basically filtered the air. Two keys instead of only one would've been helpful.

This hotel was better than we expected! Breakfast was awesome and the beach was beautiful. The photos don’t do it Justice! The servers were so attentive and the security/front desk was great. Would reccomend! No pool but not needed when the beach is steps away.

Amazing ocean view. Decent restaurant. Nice staff. A few things could possibly be updated, but for the price, the view alone, makes it worth it.
The area around the hotel is extremely crazy busy, but that has nothing to do with the hotel
