More like a hostel with a nicer outdoor pool area and courtyard. Room was clean but no soap, shampoo, bar fridge, face cloth and the safe was unusable as the lock was missing. Not sure if you had purchase or not as it wasn't mentioned at check-in.

I had a terrible experience with this hotel, and when I asked for assistance from Expedia, rhe rep didn’t care. I arrived close to midnight, and the Hotel receptionist was busy with a report and took about 30 minutes to pay attention to us (no other people were waiting, just us). He was annoyed that we were waiting for him and gave us the worst possible room, in front of a busy street (noisy at night), on the 3rd floor with no elevator. We had to carry our luggage up the stairs, with no bellboy to help either. The water from the shower and faucet is from the sea (salt water), so no fresh water even to wash your face. No glasses, no table to put our stuff, rotten and private faucets and outlets (I attached pictures), mold on the walls. When I explained this to the Expedia rep, he only offered to talk to the hotel to get me a refund, but offer no solution or second accommodation, not even at a “higher price” that I would have gladly paid

The room was spacious and comfortable. Very very clean and lots of storage and plugs for my electronics. Shower worked well. Location is uber convenient. My room was across the street from the main building. The reclusiveness worked for me. Bed is very comfortable. Felt safe too!

I have previously stayed at Tukan.
It has a cozy pool area, a close walk to the beach & various amenities. Being near the strip you can anticipate nightlife with music occasionally loud until late. The staff are friendly & very accommodating. Overall is a satisfactory 3 star hotel & would stay again.

At the beginning when we first arrived to our first room, the room was very hot because AC wasn’t working and smelled humid and moldy. It seems there was a leak from roof because there was water on the floor by bed. But they did a great job in changing our room to a better room. In that room AC was working and it smells better. There is no fridge or microwave. Breakfast buffet was good and staff were polite, friendly and helpful.

La llave del cuarto la ponen en el brazalete, lo cual es buena idea, PERO lo MALO es que es a UNA SOLA persona p/c. Eso NO nos gustó porque fui con una amiga y ella dependía de mi para entrar al cuarto. Si se le quedaba algo, yo tenia que interrumpir lo mío para buscar lo de ella. :-( En lo demás, está bastante bien y buena ubicación.

From the out side the property looks nice and it is in a great central location where you can walk to shops, restaurants, and excursion meeting points. Lots of mosquitos inside the rooms. We had to change rooms due to a water leak then in the new room the shower did not drain properly, the toilet would not fill up after flushing, and one of the AC units made loud clicking noises. We chose this hotel because of location and price. We booked several tours around the area and did not spend a lot of time at the hotel. The staff was helpful and attentive.

Very nice Tropical Hotel. Not very modern but clean and functional. I didn’t like that the Hotel counts with two separate buildings half a block apart. The main building has a bigger pool and is right off Famous Fifth Avenue. The other still very close but not right off the strip. Very small Pool. Parking sucks if you leave at night. The parking attendants there 24/7 can be very helpful.

The hotel grounds were very pretty with the greenery around the pool, very beautiful. The hotel was also well located next to 5th ave...however, the rooms were small & oddly shaped. The room smelled like sewer. The mattresses were as hard as a rock with lumpy & hard pillows. The bath towel were large (bath blanket) which was nice, but they were OLD. They were the towels in the perfect state to rip up and use for cleaning the car. The air conditioning barely worked, it took 8 hours for the room to cool down enough to be bearable enough to sleep. As if that wasnt bad enough, the shower was dirty, small and the water barely dripped out of the shower spout. No need to even turn on the cold water, just turning on the hot water, after 15 mins, was luke warm, warm enough to go under ... unless youre brave & shower with cold water. The entire bathroom, especially the shower head needs a DEEP cleaning.

Rene was an excellent asset. I'd say he was very good at running the hotel. The cleaning women were too, except they were a bit chatty when they convened. The young women in the registration/lobby were not very helpful and it appeared to pain them that they were interrupted...although they weren't working. Also, can I suggest that you 1) power wash the pool area later in the day, not at 7:00 a.m. and 2) provide a small refrigerator and coffee pot in every rooms.

Stayed at Tukan before covid and was treated well. Totally diferent this time around. Unresponsive and grummpy recepton. Wasted hours just to ty and get the TV to work. Toilet was junk and hotel ignored request to fix. Many noisy guests carrying on to all hours with no reponse from the hotel.

The staff service was good, they offered us the all included on the restaurant next to the hotel and it was not worth it, room was ok until there was a bug on a pillow and I saw two cockroaches, and we expected to be on the main building but they send us to one behind. The hotel is not even an all inclusive hotel for them to deny your friends to invite them into your room so you can all pre drink. They said it’s a policy but there is no where states that policy on their website.

The water smells sewage. I don’t habe hot water in my shower. Maintenance came to fix it and he said he will check something but never came back.

A all the employees but the hotel needs maintenance, the pool was closed the whole time we where there they send you to a hotel across the street if you want to get in a pool the bathroom has little roaches and the water in the shower and sink is salt water so bring extra conditioner also if you paying all inclusive or just breakfast they'll send you across the street to The Ceiba restauran no ac and the food is not that good (really bad actually)at the end you get what you paid for if you planning to stay here I hope you read more comments no just this one then is up to you, they respond to all negative reviews with a generic comment

This is a cute property and great for a short stay if you want to be on 5th Street but NOT near the LOUD clubs, etc. The staff was very nice and it was in a good area. The room was clean but the bathroom had a horrible smell. Probably a sewer issue, but its an inexpensive hotel in Playa so we dealt with it. I would definitely go back if I needed a place to stay for a few nights for not a lot of money.

The location is in the center of 5th Avenue, which is the hotel's best feature. There are only a few chairs around the pool, so sometimes hard to get one. The hot tub never worked. Upon check-in, someone had used my toilet and overflowed it onto the bathroom floor. Just gross. They sent someone to clean it. There was always a sewer smell and fruit flies every day. The lock on the sliding door was about to fall off and 3 lights in the room did not work. When I tried to tell the front desk several times, they nodded and walked away. There were also some public areas that they could have attended to instead of standing around talking. The top of the water cooler needed to be dusted off and the sofa in the lobby has a gaping hole in it. There were always tons of leaves outside my door each morning. I was in 305 and it was right by the cleaning room, so each morning, I was woken early by the cleaning people laughing and eating and slamming doors. The size of the property and the location are its best features, but they could make it so much more. I met many Canadians and they were not too impressed either. I did like the tropical atmosphere too, but on the last night, a roach scurried across my bedroom floor. Also, at check-in, they told me I owed $10, which was a different amount than what Expedia told me it would be. They didn't care even when I showed them the paper.

Pictures from the website are very different from the actual location. In the bathroom in particular the tiles and Faucet lever are the worse they are rusting and look like they have mold. Once you get to the hotel they try to make you spend more on either other amenities or the room itself.

I did not like the security guy with the lazy eye there. He was very rude. Also the bracelets for the hotel are annoying and unfashionable. The place needs a severe update. It looks like it was built in the 50s and never remodeled. The restaurant across the street that is part of the hotel is expensive. Especially the beer, 2 beers for 160 pesos when you can walk 1 to 2 minutes to 7 11 and get a 6 pack for 120 pesos

Location! Is the best part of this hotel!! We had a nice stay. The hotel room we got had two rooms, cold ac, hot water and Netflix on both televisions. Hotel room is basic, does not have phone if you need towels you need to go to the reception, which was not a problem to us since hotel is small. We spent most of the time out of the hotel. Staff was friendly, willing to help. The hotel does need a renovation, but rooms are clean and good to rest. I left my wedding ring, and call the hotel they did find it!!!! Overall not as bad as I expected, based on other reviews I saw.

All inclusive is not worth it, first room was a mess. The shower didn’t work and the TV didn’t work as well. We got the breakfast and it was the same items every day, and the food was meh. They wanted you to wear a wristband everyday for the time duration of your stay and if you lose it they may “charge” extra.

Besides that the hotel was decent, it’s located near a nice place in Playa Del Carmen. The rooms when done right were not that bad for the price and there’s a lot to explore around. Very few parking spots however.

Hotel muito bonito e bem localizado logo na esquina da 5a avenida que concentra maior parte das atividades da praia. Na mesma quadra é possível encontrar 7 Eleven e Oxxo (lojas estilo mercado/conveniência), casa de câmbio e restaurantes diversos.
O quarto e varanda bastante espaços os e confortáveis assim como a cama. O hotel deixa a desejar em alguns pontos bem importantes. A pressão da água no chuveiro é muito fraca, a entrada para nossa apto era externa (direto para rua) e nem sempre havia segurança no local (apesar de tudo parecer seguro isso nos gerou questionamento), as toalhas de baixíssima qualidade (daquelas que machucam a pele de tão secas) e nem sempre eram trocadas mesmo seguindo as instruções do local para deixá-las e, por fim, a ausência de frigobar na habitação.

I am puzzled by some poor reviews here.. this is a 3.5 star hotel, not a 5 star. If you don't like rusty drains, you should see the other 3 or 3.5 star hotels here. I've seen loose electrical wiring, missing appliances, plumbing backing up.. none of that at Tukan. It is a beautiful complex with 5 star service, very nice rooms, cable and Netflix with a router for every room, great location that is still shielded from the night noise of 5th Ave.

Some negatives:
- doors do not quiet close.. you have to slam it so you hear slamming doors through the day
- I came in high season so I paid a 5 star price. Normally this is a great value

We went to get towels because in my kids room they only had 2 and i have 3 kids they told us they didn't have anymore so they had to share a wet towel never staying their again. It was a family vacation of 3 adults and 4 teenagers. Hotel was \"ok\"...yet not satisfied with it overall. Where do I start. When you look at the hotel pics online much prettier and elegant it no where near what we were given once arrived. 3 rooms...one of which had no water..no towels and of course no AC. Requested someone to come to assist with the AC yet no one arrived on a timely fashion. Other room had no AC yet had mold. Main room was ok. Showers where's horrible had mold and just not what their website has.i also understand that the main reason they do that is to get people to book with them.
Additional TAX $ was charged at the front desk on top of what was booked initially. Like Really? No...never will I ever stay or recommend this hotel again to anyone. Wristband, keys and 3 remotes were REQUIRED to be turned back in and if.any were lost we were responsible to pay $300-$900 pesos for one remote. Seems a little ridiculous. The only thing that was ok was that were were allowed in the pool til 8pm yet no one said anything to us or anyone that stayed past 8pm. Yet 12am were required to be in our rooms. We're not allowed to be out in the pool drinking or not....you were told to go.

DO NOT Book this hotel.

The hotel is in walking distance to the beach, restaurants, bars , very good location and parking is available, our room was at the very top, very spacious , nice & always kept very clean, thanks Mrs. Rebecca...all staff was kind, there are no elevators but to me that was ok, and a bit noisy in the weekend but again didn't bother me, people are just having thier fun 😀. FYI...It doesn't have a mini fridge, iron, coffee in room but for the price its still ok.

central location, budget but upscale

Nice place, great location. I stayed in the upper tier room, so the nice big swimming pool in photos was in another building about a block away. There are several buildings. The one where I stayed had a smaller but nice pool area and decent fitness room.

Overall, would recommend this place. Not a big fan of the plastic bracelets the nicer hotels have you wear during your stay. Understandable that it helps staff identify guests, but the tourist touts seem to target you a little more.

No elevator, and I was on the third floor, so lots of steps each days. Good workout, but tough if you have lots of luggage or dive gear. You can request a mini fridge.

This was my favorite places to stay in Playa del Carmen, the location is really good. Part of the hotel was closed during my stay. I stayed in the upgrade room by their Aspira partner hotel so the big pool in photos was in a different building a block away. There was a smaller pool and a nice little fitness center.

Overall, this was a really comfortable room, great AC, great water pressure. I liked that didn't have to walk through the lobby to get to my room. Electronic key cards.

Didn't really like the plastic bracelet you wear. Many nice hotels have these, and I know it helps hotel staff identify that you are a guest, but it also makes you a little more of a tout target while on walking street.

Huge balcony was nice. My only complaint was that I was on the third floor, which was not easy for lugging my dive gear up and down. You may need to request a mini fridge.

Different hotel that we paid

The hotel that we paid for was closed. We had to asked the people on the streets what happened to it as it didn't have any information of what to do. I thought we were scammed. After walking around for 10 minutes somebody told us that their office was a block away and it was closed as well. Someone approached us across the street and told us that they were closed and guest were going to stay in the hotel across the street which had a total different name. How we were supposed to know???? No email, no sign in the hotel, nothing

Ripped off and defrauded by the Tukan

An all inclusive package was purchased for 1 day while there. We were quoted $51 US per person for one day. When reviewed on credit card statement, approx $153.46 US was charged per person for one day. When this was discussed at the front desk, I was told I was charged correctly. I feel extremely ripped off here and do not recommend anyone staying there.

It was dirty and staff was less than friendly. The bathroom appeared clean, but smelled horribly of mildew. It was loud and noisy. Good location

For the price and location , it was excellent. The pictures are deceiving and we were missing basics such as a fridge and hair dryer. They did accommodate us with a fridge when we asked. We booked this hotel for our honeymoon and I had emailed them 3 times asking to decorate before arriving which they did not do. However, it did not spoil our time. The staff was friendly and as I said for location it was amazing .
