Courteous staff, great location, fabulous price for central London. I stayed in a basement room where the soundtrack of (what I assume was) the nearby underground trains at Paddington was clearly audible... I would sleep through a hurricane but I reckon that might have been worthy of a mention for most guests. Oh, and the TV didn't work...

Truly awful. And I’ve stayed in some dumps, but this one “took the biscuit”.
Loose door knob that didn’t work. Deadbolt kept the door closed. Uneven, creaky floor. TV with no channels. Electric outlet (230 volt) with exposed wire. Various chips out of the plaster walls. Flimsy curtains and train noise: if you stay there take earplugs and eyeshades.
Don’t pay more than £100/night, and only then if there’s nowhere else to stay.

OK. It’s cheap and the sheets and the bathroom were spotlessly clean, which can be enough, and the staff were nice. Convenient location! But: 1 towel per guest; not even soap; facilities ran down; poor DYI paint and repairs; noisy (loud WC drop from above, tube from underneath, neighbours); plastic breakfast; no elevator; barely enough room to circle the bed; icky and patchy carpet; no decor… I’ve seen better for cheaper. Major overhaul needed.

Always make a booking to this hotel weather it be 1 or 2 times a year

Had problems in the past with it being not suitable for our party (family)
But have managed to change rooms okay

This time around the mattress was absolutely shocking black hairs everywhere coved the whole thing

The room is tiny, shower drain is not working properly. The sink is half the size of a regular sink, when you turn on the water it sprays everywhere. The basement room is right above subway and you hear the loud train every 5 minutes, forget about sleeping. The door lock is barely functional. I took a walk and came back found my door was open by someone! Luckily nothing was stolen.

This hotel is ok. The location is good and the staff are friendly and helpful. The room is small and the bathroom layout is poor as there is very little room to move in it. The towels and linen were not very clean on occasion and the WiFi was not great. There was a lot of outside noise that could be heard in the room which made sleeping difficult at times and there is no lift at the property. The breakfast selection provided was good although the cutlery/bowls were not always as clean as they should have been.
All in all this hotel provides the basics required in a convenient location but has room for improvement.

Maybe OK for central London standards?

We might be used to space and comfort in hotels elsewhere (e.g. North/South America, Africa, Asia) even when they're 2 or 3 stars but this one was very sub-standard. And it wasn't particularly cheap either. Uncomfortable bed, tight space, poor ventilation etc. The breakfast was ok though and friendly staff but I'll most likely not stay here again.

This is a hidden gem and the staff was extra generous and helpful to me in a tough situation, although beware that there is no entry after dark or very late check-ins as this is more of a family hotel. I was pleased with all of the amenities and built-in hair dryer! Thanks again - see you all next time!

The hotel is worth for the price I paid. They gave me a room downstairs with the window on the internal corridor but after I asked to be moved to another room they gave me a room at the 4th floor. The building is old and not so in good condition, but the room, the bed and the bathroom were really clean. If you look for a place in central London this is good with a little bit of adaption spirit.

Staff were so attentive and absolutely lovely, can’t fault service at all. Only criticism is that the pillows were yellow - overall cleanliness was pretty good. The trains (tube below) were quite loud. Could use some TLC but a pleasant stay nonetheless. Can’t reiterate enough that the staff were so lovely and provided an excellent service.

Had to stay downstair, The noisy of the tube (metro) is extreme . You will feel the vibration. You can sleep only between 12.30 to 6 AM. The room was not cleam you can see the dirt on the carpet. They patched small metal on the carpet with nail when you press the patch the nails pops up. so every time you walk in the room yo have to cross it.
They dnt give shampoo. Also they dnt change your used towel you have to dry the towel in your room and use it for next day.
My small apperication : Kitchen staff was nice . Reception staff also helpful for any questions.

I stayed with my family for three nights. Our stay was better than i thought it would be. Nice warm welcome at the front desk, the gentleman is a good listener, explain all we needed to know precise , thorough and with respect. The breakfast was amazing and lovely stay. Had little concern regarding screen time , but all sorted. I would without a doubt recommend Hyde Park Court Hotel, good location, and comfy night sleep. CLEAN ROOM, no fault. There are positives and negatives so lets start positive.
The en suite shower room looked quite new and was clean. Towels and soap provided. Staff were helpful and let us move room when we asked. Breakfast had a good selection of foods including hot food (eggs & beans with toast) which i wasn't expecting & cooked fresh. Lady serving breakfast was very friendly.
Negatives - place could do with freshly decorating. Rooms don't look as nice as the photo's on the website. Underground underneath the hotel so the first room we had in the basement shook as the train went by. We were moved up a floor which wasn't as bad but we still heard it. Basement room was also a bit smelly & tiny shower room.
I've stayed in other hotels on the same square and they are much nicer. But for one night at last minute and £53 for 2 of us it was fine.

It is not called a hotel

We couldn't sleep. We were downstairs, and the room was shaking. We felt an earthquake, and then I knew that the underground was the reason for that. This room is not suitable for sleeping. It is supposed to be transformed into another activity other than that, such as a warehouse. It is closer to that than a room for residence.

4th floor with no lift isn’t easy! No hot water, and I wasn’t going to walk all the way down to report it.
Staff were super helpful, it was value for money as I paid very little for central London.

The hotel was in rather a state of repair in places, we were given a 3rd floor family room (I had previously requested a ground floor one, due to having children and a baby and wasn't told until we got there, that there weren't any. The stairs weren't very safe and no way were we walking up 6 flights, whilst carrying a baby, as well as luggage etc, we were given a basement room, but the noise from the underground was terrible and i barely got any sleep even with earplugs, due to the rubbling and vibrations. The breakfast room was quite small and there was a long dark hair, under one of the table cloths that could be seen and the plates and bowls weren't heated up for the hot food, there was also no decaf tea or coffee in the hotel, so I had to go and buy my own. The staff were very friendly and apart from the noise from the underground, the location was perfect.

I rated this room average. The customer service was good. The people were kind. The beddings were pure white, clean and fresh. The facility is about 4 minutes walk from the paddington train station, London therefore, accessible. However, if you love a spick and span environment, you may not love it but you can survive. The property is a little old. I was given a room in the basement which was so noisy given the nearby underground train system. The rooms are really small. I wish I was informed about the basement and the noise, i would have made an informed decission on the choice of the room.

Room was dirty, bedding was clean thou.No bath mat to use so had to use 1 of the 2 towels they gave. my son was shocked that the bathroom was cleaner than the bedroom. my view was horrendous. Brick wall, and very dirty outside (juice carton that been left not sure how long) Curtains didn’t fit window properly, big gap at side! had a big silver foil type pipe coming throw. (Not sure if it was from kitchen because there was a smell in room) Dirty stain on ceiling.Tv didn’t work properly kept losing signal but that’s because it was just a little indoor aerial on like a bit of a ceiling. Room was very basic. square cube next to bed high up to put phone and couple other bits on. Yes asked for ground floor thats what i got but then had to walk down some very thin stairs with lose carpet to get to dining room. Told staff couldn’t use plug as wouldnt go in, cleaner came and showed her, was hanging out but she said it was fine as still charging phone! Wow no way was it fine. Also plug higher up had built in usb ports they didnt work either, told staff she said do you need all these charging ports/plugs. Said need 3 items charging she said don’t worry u have enough! Unless i needed to use kettle which had to fill with water bottle. Dirty hair left on shower head (from previous resident) breakfast is cereal, toast, croissant or egg very basic! Overall get what you pay for. Would i stay again only if no where else

Firstly, theres 3 floors and the stairways are so narrow and there's no elevators. If you have a lot of luggage forget about this hotel.

Me and my mate from Dublin stayed the night here as we were visiting London for two days.
The guy at the front desk was extremely lovely and it really is 24/7 desk! We had no problem with checking in or out either.
The area around was a dodgy but the bus was only a 5 min walk and it took 10/15 min to get into the city so that was no problem at all.
Me and my mate shared the double bed and we paid €30 each for the night so its perfect for budget and cheap city breaks.
The actual room was small but it was quiet clean, the lights were working and there was the coffee station , hairdryer , a radiator and a tv although it wasnt working.
The only problem we had was the shower and this was the biggest downfall as it had no glass around it and was just in the bathroom and it didn't have any warm water (we wanted to take a shower at 3 am after a night out so maybe the boiler wasnt on) but again - you get what you pay for!
We just dealt with it as we paid so little.
Would definitely recommend if you’re on a budget as the bed is clean and room is small but perfect for two.

Excellent location! Got this spot for a mother daughter trip for 2 days of touring around London. It was perfect just what we needed; enough bed space, private bathroom, breakfast and great hospitality! We did have to trudge up 4 flights of stairs with luggage and the rooms are not “spacious” but as to be expected for the area. Paddington park out front was a lovely addition!

The room was clean which is usually the most important aspect of finding a suitable hotel. However we had a room in basement which meant every few minutes we heard the sound of the underground train passing by. The noise was sufficient to shake the room and cause the light fitting to vibrate. We left feeling incredibly tired as the train ran until the early morning and started again at 6am. I’m sure the above ground room were fine but can’t be sure. So just be careful if you are booking a twin or family room in case you end up in the basement. It wasn’t enjoyable.

The room was just o.k nothing special.l think it was over priced. We stayed in a basement room. We could hear the tube trains underneath us very clearly. I would only stay here if you are hard up.

This was a dive. Bare minimum service and amenities. Our room was in the basement and had three beds crammed in with virtually no room to move. The bathroom was so tiny your chin was resting on the sink while you were on the toilet. No bath mat, no hand towels, and only two towels
provided for three of us. We were given more when we asked. The sink was constantly plugged and was tiny so one hand washed plugged it for about 15 min. The shower was tiny but there was hot water. Amazingly the beds were comfortable. The breakfast was very meager
with no fruit at all. Cereal, packaged
croissants, white bread, cheese slices and boiled eggs. Was only 5 min walk from Paddington Station, on a quiet tree lined street with lots of other hotels. Try the Dolphin Hotel right next door, or the Shakespeare Hotel two doors down.

Cat sleeping on the couch in the lobby (no allergy problems there), a plethora of issues with the rooms including things like smelling like smoke on arrival, hairs on the shower wall, electrics that looked hazardous (as well as a cracked kettle that still had water in it), cigarette burns on the shelving, no fire alarm in the room and a fire door that didn’t shut itself, a TV that was unwatchable unless you were standing on the bed looking straight at it, chipped/unsafe window sills and surrounds and no ability to lock said windows, structural damage to the walls of the corridors, etc etc etc. Was due to stay 2 nights but evacuated after the first night’s stay, no thank you or explanation asked for by the concierge, instead just muttered something under his breath when keys were handed back.

A basic cheap, no frills hotel

Staff were very friendly, it was a very basic, cheap hotel, adequate for one night stay. We were on the fourth floor up 6 flights of stairs so a bit of a workout. The hotel was well placed for easily travelling around London and near a selection of food places. The room was a bit tired and the bathroom more compact than caravan bathrooms. You could sit on the toliet and touch the wall above the sink with one hand and the wall in the shower with the other. We also haven't seen a TV so small before and the picture can bit a distorted at times but as we went out it didn't bother us. Bed was comfortable and clean. Wardrobe was small but adequate for what we needed, it had 5 trouser hangers built in and 3 removable hangers. Tea and coffee facilities were what we expected. Overall okay.

Excellent value from a budget hotel.

The hotel is dated and a little 'rough around the edges' but what do you expect from a budget hotel.
The room was a bit small but overall was clean and comfortable.
The continental breakfast was basic but adequate and a bonus to start the day.
Staff were friendly and helpful.

Overall, this was excellent value for money

Gone down hill !

We have stayed here before but certainly won’t be booking to stay again!
Check in was good, staff were all fine. But the room was absolutely filthy, the grouting bathroom was really mouldy and black , there were shocking stains on the walls around the bin. The windowsill was filthy. We only stayed because the bedding at least looked clean. The continental breakfast was basic - Cereal and toast and drinks.

It's 'OK'

The hotel is as expected being on the very cheapest side of the scale. It was OK. There's nothing to find good or terrible about it. It's very tired, it it's quite a workout getting to the higher rooms without a lift. The rooms were dated, tired, showing signs of mildue around the shower etc. This all said, it felt safe, the bed was ok,there were no mice running around, and nothing that made me think I need to leave here immediately.

I'd not come here for a romantic weekend away, but I would stay again.

I’ve been in the Royal Marines for 25 years and have slept in all types of rooms around the world but never have I dreaded returning to a place more than this hotel. It’s dirty, stinking and generally disgusting!
My room must have had every other rooms ablutions running through it as the noise of the water gushing around my room went off all night at 20 minute intervals. There was brown substances smeared up the wall on one side of the room and another side looked like it had some fire damage. This along with the drugs being dealt, drunks arguing and the brass directly outside the hotel just topped off a simply horrific stay. STAY AWAY FROM YHIS PLACE!!!

Hyde Park Court Hotel Stay

CONS-Difficult to sit on the toilet as it was too near the sink. The toilet wobbled. The sink was so old the plastic was cracked giving it an unclean appearance. The radiator was cool rather than warm and the bottom of it was clearly rusty. The window did not lock or shut properly. There was only a hand towel in the room, we had to physically walk down six flights of stairs to ask for a towel so we could shower.

PROS-Staff friendly, price cheap and hotel placed just where we needed to be. Bed comfortable.

Not happy with this place

Room was too small. It was cold. There was no door between the room and the bathroom. Breakfast wasn’t great either and the staff was rude. You can find much better places for the money.

It wasnt very welcoming or friendly.
The room wasnt very clean someone else clothing left down sode of bed and room was very hot. Shower was dangerous not temperature controlled.
Bathroom uncleand and smelled awful.
Breakfast was disappointing as not any choice eggs on toast or nothing....
And worse part was loud noise felt like sleeping on a train...
