We loved our stay at this remarkable hotel. I would suggest it to everybody thats looking for a inexpensive and good stay in the heart of london. The owner is very nice and courteous. He was giving us good recommendations for food and the overall experience in this amazing city.

Very decent budget accommodation. I wasn’t happy about the large amount of mold on the bathroom ceiling, but I was happy about how quickly the staff got someone in to clean it after I told them about it. The room itself was very small but clean, warm, and safe-feeling.

I want to say I will not recommend this \"Hotel\" to people for four reasons:
1. The room is cold at night because the heating is off overnight.
2. Basic washing items such as shower gel and shampoo are not provided for customers at the Hotel level.
3. The main door of the hotel is controlled by the hands of the hotel staff (owner) so every time the customer can not enter without his permission.
4. The staff (owner) was not polite and shouted at me \"Why only you\" when I needed him to open the main door as the remote control was out of work.

Staffs are friendly ,the room is very tiny that there is only one square tea table of around 1.5 sq feet, but a tv is put on it. You need to choose either watch the tv or use the table for the hot water boiling and cups. Suggest hang the tv on the wall. Shower head is fixed and small, suggest use a larger hand held shower head is much better.

For the price, it's hard to complain. The room was clean with toiletries issues, a kettle, tea/coffee. My only complaint would be we found the mattress to be a bit uncomfortable. Overall the hotel was pleasant and the owners are really nice. I would recommend this to anyone looking to stay in central London on the cheap.

Terrible experience. Spent 3 nights with my daughter, very tiny bedroom, beds were wobbling all right thus i couldnt sleep because of the noise they make. Reported this the next morning but didnt improve altgough i was told this was fixed. Bathroom is tiny, no shampoo. Even the floor is wobbling even one moves in the room next door.

Very friendly owner. No refreshment replacements for my second day. Very dodgy plumbing. I doubt that it would pass fire and health and safety inspections. But by London standards, it was cheap, and adequate.

Rooms were clean, Beds were very comfortable. Staff were very friendly & accomodating. Great value compared to other prices in the area.
We were 2 mins around the corner from a very vibrant street with nice bars and food options, 5 mins from Paddington station & 5 mins from Hyde park.
There is a wonderful Argentinian bistro close by that does fantastic coffees and breakfast!

Property has not been renovated or updated in a long time. Expect old, worn, stained furniture, floor coverings and linen. Bathroom is tiny. That said the proprietors are polite, helpful and trying their best. I felt welcome and safe. I would crash here again for one night and for the right price, not much more than 70€ a night. The area is very convenient to transportation. The Victoria, Paddington is a splendid pub nearby which I enjoyed patronizing.

This hotel is a dump we were given basement room below ground via narrow carpeted feller steps. There are better prison cells that the room we had. Very basic tubular frame ancient single beds. Quite large on suite toilet and shower. The room was very dismal
but the sheets and pillow cases were crisp and clean. The fire door next to our room door which leads into the kitchen was locked complained to the owner who said I quote “don’t worry if their is a fire we will come down and unlock it and let you out”.
Second fire exit from basement led up on to same corridor as the cellar steps so fire ground floor NO WAY OUT.
Fan on floor, kettle Tea Coffee and very small tv. No guests allowed in rooms.
Any self respecting girl friend or wife would refuse to stay ( this room would kill any chance of romance) for £98 for one nights stay without breakfast. we booked a hotel room for 5 people but it was a bit cramped, the room was very basic and had a shower stall but that was also very cramped. only a few handsoaps, no shampoos. blankets were cold. had to request an extra pillow, but the staff were fine to provide one.
the hallways were cluttered, and on the basement lever where we were one staircase was wet and slippery, the other at the bottom corridor a vacuum cleaner was left out. there were also personal hygiene items left out in the corridor (deodorants etc.)
it was also very noisy at night with the people upstairs from us thumping around walking late into the night, and their voices carrying through the floors. we could hear their conversations well into the night.

For us three women needing somewhere cheap in the Paddington area this little place was perfect! Spotlessly clean and only a few minutes walk from Paddington Station. Its not the Ritz and neither is the pricing. Our room was compact with a small ensuite bathroom. Three single beds that were very comfortable and had beautifully crisp white sheets. The lovely owner was helpful and the building is secure. They were kind enough to allow us to drop our luggage off in the morning and they kept it safe.
The place could do with upgrading but then i guess it would be much more expensive.
Overall was very happy . We just needed somewhere safe, clean and comfortable and this is exactly what we got.

Amazing value for money in the location. Walking distance from Paddington station and Hyde Park . It’s small but comfy clean beds , hot shower and first floor rooms had a big opening window and small balcony . The owners are friendly and accommodating. Allowed us to leave our luggage on the last day until our train time. We will be back .

This is much more hostel-like than a hotel, but perfectly clean and comfortable.
Be warned the WIFI does NOT work in the basement rooms (Room 2) and your mobile data won't work either so if you need to work, get a room on the main or upper floors.

The Mandalay Picton was a good price compared to other similar hotels in the local area, it is handy for the train station and the tube . it is clean and the staff were pleasant enough.
The room was no exactly welcoming but it was clean and the bedding was fine, I would stay again but i would look for an alternative for some time before i clicked on this one again

Let's start with the good stuff:
1. It was super close to Paddington train station, a few pubs, and some tourist shops. Awesome location.
2. It was clean, was well taken care of, had friendly staff, and a decent bed. All good things for the price we paid.
Other stuff - I'm only mentioning it so that other people can hopefully be aware (haha)
3. The bathroom is so hilariously small, like, the pictures don't even do it justice. It's kind of like if you popped a shower into an airplane bathroom. I think possibly a child could be comfy showering in here, but a full grown adult is going to have issues. So that was fun.
4. The doors say that you have to turn the key to the right to open the door - what they don't tell you is that if you accidentally turn the key to the left first, you end up locking yourself inside. Like, bang on the door to have a staff member come free you kind of lock yourself inside. This is beyond unsafe to not be able to escape from your room in the event you turn a key the wrong way. To be fair, they do tell you to turn the key to the right, but if you happen to make a mistake... yikes.
Anyway, nothing earth-shattering, but for those people who like to read reasonable reviews prior to booking, I'm leaving it here anyway.

This was my first stay here and it is always a 'concern' when booking, about the accommodation. I was so pleased with my stay though, as the situation was brilliant being only a few minutes walk from Paddington, the room was really clean with everything that I needed for a one-night stay and the reception staff were second to none. They were very welcoming and went out of their way to help me. I will definitely stay here again when I am next in London......... assuming there is availability!

The Mandalay Picton House is a discount hotel. So right away if you accept that, you can get a room without having to share a bathroom in a part of town that is very convenient for commuting with multiple bus stops near by and Paddington rail station only a block away. It is also very close to Hyde Park. The neighborhood is pretty quiet which has its pros and cons as a traveler. The people running the hotel are very very nice. The room is very small and there are no amenities at the hotel at all. But again this is a discount hotel. The beds were adequate, there should be more and better pillows. But that’s a small gripe. The only real negative was the shower. It’s took a very long time to get hot water and it was unpredictable as to whether or not the shower would stay hot after waiting the time to get to the right temperature. Esp for the second person who on some days got a better shower and on other days got no hot water at all.
Still overall if you’re looking to save money while staying in London and you’re ok with your hotel just being where you sleep; the Picton House will work.

The location of the property is hard to beat. The hotel is a couple of blocks away from the (big) Paddington transit station as well as near many restaurants and convenience stores. This worked perfectly for easy transportation from the airport to the hotel, using public transit around London, and using the Big Bus Tour transit system to easily catch the tourist sites and walking tours.

This hotel is absolutely awful. After making a mistake by booking 2 people instead of 2 adults and child which was absolutely my fault we was told by an extremely rude man on the desk that we could not stay and gave an whole range of health safety reason why we couldn't stay. He then changed his tune and said that as long as we paid an additional £20 we could stay and accept any responsibility making an absolute farce of what he had just said about the H&S. We did initially agree to pay the £20 but on entering the room we quickly decided to change our decision and find another hotel. The room was very basic, unwelcoming. I would not advise anyone to stay at this hotel
