Perfect hotel for Paddington Station - a four minute walk!
Lots of cafés and shops in the next road, but the hotel itself is in a quiet, private street.

PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE we were given a room in the basement that might as well have been the amazon rainforest it was so hot and humid and musty. oh yeah our window view? literally the outside hallway. so creepy and did not feel safe. when we mentioned to the front desk that we didn’t like the room he said we could be upgraded for 30 pounds which sucks because we were on a budget. he was extremely rude to us and creepy and followed us around. the whole place is smelly and humid. please do not come here

We had an enjoyable stay at The Royal Cambridge Hotel on our arrival in London. Good location near Paddington Station which also has several cafes and convenience stores. Rooms are small but perfectly adequate.

Shower door at corner and joints filthy and caked in what looked like dirt. House keeping not in every day and when the did come only washed tea cups and replaced coffee and tea. No bed made up and glass shelf and taps in bathroom never cleaned. Bin emptied and replacement bag just threw in it. Rain shower fair but no shower caps if you didnt want your hair washed. Although called a hotel there was no bar facilities or any food facilities like a restaurant etc hence no breakfast etc available. Front of house staff friendly . Location excellent.

Room was a bit dated. Old sash window letting in road noise. Noisy bathroom extract fan running continuously, no way of switching it off. Huge gap under door, letting in light from the hallway, had to block with towel. Matress was low quality, not a great night's sleep overall and I was working the next day. Noise from other guests returning to their rooms, the building is smell so noise travels and is disturbing. Not worth the £150

I booked a single room and found the one I was allocated to be clean and well presented. Single rooms are quite small so be prepared for that. There was only one pillow in the room which was annoying and the bed was on wheel which was also frustrating. Overall the hotel felt a little cramped but was adequate for the cost which is on the budget side. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Location is very handy to Paddington Station, food outlets and Kensington Gardens.

We booked 2 twin rooms and both were spotlessly clean. I had the smaller of the rooms but it still had everything I needed. I had read beforehand to ask at reception for a hairdryer however, there was already one in the room. There was a kettle, cups and a selection of tea and coffee which was topped up both days of our stay. The bathroom had good sized towels, shampoo and shower gel and the shower was quite powerful. A standalone fan was in both rooms which were actually needed and we had enough coat hangers. We were able to leave our luggage before check-in and after check-out, check-in was fast and staff friendly and courteous at all times. I would definitely stay again.

We stayed in a quadruple room on the fourth floor. The room was ok but could have been cleaner especially around the outside of the shower cubicle! Some of the bedding had rips along the seams and we found some tissue between one of the single beds and the wall which had obviously been missed when the room was cleaned.
It was also quite noisy because the extractor fan was constantly going. We mentioned it to the gentleman at reception on our first morning there and asked if there was any way it could be turned off as it was quite loud particularly at night when everything else was quiet and he said he would sort it but it never was.
The staff seemed friendly enough whenever we saw them and the hotel was in a great location for all the places we wanted to visit.

This is an amazing location, a 5-minute walk from Paddington Station for buses, underground, and trains, shops, and lots of fast food and restaurants nearby. The price is reasonable.

The reception at the hotel and the cleaning staff were friendly. The room was clean but showing its age, particularly the bathroom.

Our basement room was tiny (we knew that before we booked) with no space to open two suitcases. There was no outside window (just a window into the stairwell). There is a lift so we didn't have to carry our cases up and down stairs.

The Wi-Fi was very fast in our room.

I would recommend a larger room if one is staying more than a night or two, or if you have more than one suitcase.

Check in was great, efficient and very friendly. The room itself was definitely dated and worn, but clean. The air conditioner in the room, when on, did occasionally make loud buzzing noises which made it difficult to sleep at times. The rainfall showerhead was nice. I stayed in room 5 during my stay and after every time I had a shower there was a bad smell coming up from the water drainage plug. I told reception and they said that they will talk to someone who will put something down the drains to clear the smell. Once they did this the small was gone. Not nice having this smell in the room after you use the shower.

We booked this hotel for its position close to Paddington station and it is close to the station and good value. We arrived at 9pm and left at 6.30am so we literally wanted a bed and bathroom which we got. However the room was barely bigger than a single and we had to leave our cases just inside the door as there wasn’t room to put anything else anywhere. The bathroom was very small and the lift only just fitted two of us and bags. Do not stay here if you don’t want to be very cosy. The sash windows are single glazed and not well fitted so expect noise from the road.

You could tell it was a very old building (by Canadian standards) but was well taken care of. The halls were very narrow and the lift was tiny which didn't quite go to the floor we were on and all that made it difficult to navigate our bags to the room. Location was great, a few blocks to Paddington station and a quick walk to Hyde Park. The shower was very small with a very large shower head that was comical in proportions.

room size on first appearance very small for two adults. Hardly any room to move.

Very noisy once we got back to hotel room that evening 8 pm from room above us. We were tired and continuous banging from upstairs room. Made our mirror on the wall vibrate from the banging sounded like they were jumping off the bed?? floor above. Not the quiet relaxing hotel experience we were wanting of course we expect some noise but I think all guests should be told to respect others as some don’t understand that!
We were both exhausted & cut our trip short I did tell reception, as noise started up again early morning. It was just a noisy hotel for us.

Second time within a month to stay in this hotel. A larger room with a double bed (hooray). Alas, it was in the basement and did not have a window. The room smelled quite badly and I asked (and got) a change of room. Also in the basement. Such a tiny shower - the shower head was huge and couldn't be directed away from the body to soap oneself. Turning around involved shuffling , no way to step and turn. The floor of the shower was VERY slippery - I ended up wearing flip-flops to shower. A comfortable room overall. Would I stay here again? Only if the room wasn't in the basement.

We were in the basement, which we didn’t mind. I thought lack of window would mean a dark room. How wrong could we have been. There was a window with a bit of flimsy fabric in front of it. The light outside was on all night, so our room was lit up constantly. Thank goodness I had my face mask with me! We were in room 3. The bathroom smelt really badly - like a blocked drain. It was cheap you get what you pay for. We were there for less than 10 hours and spent lots of that time in the pub round the corner. Would’ve asked to be moved if we were there for longer.

One of the rooms we had on the ground level had mould above the shower, and wasn’t cleaned unlike the other room we at the same time. We found the beds comfy but kept moving away from the head board even when you sat on them. Shower tray waste was blocked so the tray would fill up.
