We arrived at 2.45pm, admittedly 15mins before the expected check in, only to be told our room wasn’t ready and therefore sent away. Returning at 3.45 we were told we’d been given an room upgrade (yay), only to find the room 505 was literally in the basement with no real natural light (there were doors to a outside area 3ftx3ft void covered in pigeon poo.. equally the door was open with no way to lock it.. (we requested twice from reception to come and lock it)… only leaving for our evening meal, passing reception did have to ask for the third time to lock it. in terms of the room what we named ‘the dungeon’. The room had flying tiny flies, and ants in the bathroom. The bed while being a queen bed had a twin headboard so a massive gap with pillows against the cold wall in the middle with no padding to lean against..
To cap off the terrible room was a door stop into the floor in matching colour to the floor, which my wife tripped over and broke her toe and sprained her arm with a matching massive bruise 8” in size.. (we have a lovely memento picture of her arm and broken toe).

What’s frustrating is we chose this hotel over many other hotels, due stopping in this brand of hotel in York which was lovely.. as for stopping at this one… 100% we would avoid at all costs..

On checking out, the reception person asked ‘how was our stay’, to which we said ‘just about ok…’ nothing else was said by the reception?? literally not interested.
Worth £289 per night.. No chance. Rip off

My room furniture was old (though the bed was good) and the TV service had no program guide. The shower was very good, the coffee machine appreciated and pods always replenished. Daily room service was excellent, and Housekeeping was extremely helpful. The Paddington Station area lacks good dining choices, a problem for many years. This hotel is almost invisible but I find it convenient.

Booked the indigo hotel near Paddington. Called the hotel reception the day of arrival to check all was ok with the booking, was confirmed it was. Upon arrival was told hotel was full and we were being ‘upgraded’ to a sister hotel the mercure.
The mercure is an old tired hotel no where near as nice, cannot possibly call this an upgrade, terrible service and way to treat customers. If I’d wanted to stay at the mercure…. I’d have booked the mercure
Disgraceful behaviour and total lack of respect to the customer. If I’d been told at 2pm when I called to check the room was booked that there was no room at the hotel I would have cancelled there and then and found somewhere else to stay

Property location is good- close to the train station. Somewhat difficult to spot it though as it doesn’t stand by out among the other businesses on that street. Rooms are small. I felt claustrophobic. We were placed in Room 305 which is in a corner beyond the emergency exit doors. The door butts against the bed when it opens. Won’t stay there again or recommend anyone.

Great little hotel, hidden away a stone's throw from Paddington. A nice little park opposite the hotel to sit in and 10 mins walk to Hyde Park. Great location, quiet yet close to amenities and tube/station. Nicely presented, modern hotel. Nice modern room, small but had everything you needed. Loved that they still had a kettle option as well as coffee machine and pods. A fridge in the room with free water cartons and glass bottle of milk - no plastic!

We have stayed in many 4 Star properties and this is NOT a 4 Star property.
The ONLY benefit to staying here is the proximity to Paddington station.
We stayed in a standard king room- the bed is not an American King- more like a double. I question if it wasn’t actually a double room, but as we were too tired by the time we checked in, we lived with it.
The room was dirty- there was dust everywhere- the shower door was stained with soap scum, the rugs felt gritty under bare feet, and it smelled bad- kind of a dank, musty smell.
The decor displayed online was no where to be seen- the wallpaper was peeling off of the wall- end tables stained.
The bed was horribly uncomfortable.
The check in took a ridiculously long time- there were no bellmen or staff to help with luggage.
I would say staying here is a half step up or equivocal to staying in a holiday inn.
I expect cleanliness and elevated service- this was not it.

We turned up Hotel Indigo at 5pm after a long flight from the states. After being checked in for 10 minutes we asked if there was a problem. We were told that at this point they didn’t have a room for us and they were looking at getting us a room at the next hotel! After a 45 minute wait, we finally got a room in the Mercure. The room was so tiny, it was along a narrow corridor on the fifth floor. The room was so small that we could barely get our luggage in and the blind didn’t fit properly so at 4.30 am the sun was shining right onto the bed. Our nights sleep was awful. Not what we booked and not what we expected. We were not offered any compensation, a very different level of service from the service we received in America.

Location (5 min walk to Paddington station which means fast train to Heathrow and easy access to Tube) was great. Very small room but good, hot, modern shower. Great breakfast served in cute downstairs cafe. Walkable to Kensington Gardens. No bar at premises but at least 4 pubs just outside the door. Good dining options very close.

We arrived and were given a room in the basement. It definitely felt like a basement too. It was dark. The bed was hard as a rock. The floor was uneven in spots, esp by the bathroom. We stubbed our toes several times on that. There was also a nail sticking up from the floor in the bathroom that we stepped on. We coveredd it with a towel for the remainer of the trip. We asked about getting a different room but there were none. They did give us a free breakfast. Would not stay here again.

Easy access to Heathrow Express

This was our third stay at this particular Hotel Indigo. (The last was probably 7 years ago.) The hotel is fine, rooms are clean and the expected size for this chain in Europe. The huge gap under the door means you hear everything going on in the hallway, so loud guests coming back at 3am were unpleasant.
The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. We only booked it because we had a very early flight at the tail end of a 2 week trip and it’s very close to the Heathrow Express train. There are better hotels to stay at in the same price range, but overall the staff makes the stay enjoyable, and access to the train is the main reason to stay there.

This is a convenient hotel to Paddington Station. Typical mid-tier hotel, with a very small lobby. Coffee shop/restaurant attached. No working or lounging space. It seems pretty pricey, I guess based on the location. I've stayed twice for the convenience and, meh, it's a hotel.

Not much light in the rooms. Beds are comfortable and the AC works well, as that is sometimes in doubt in the UK.

Everything But The Bed

The hotel is in a great location, it is spic and span clean, the attached restaurant is AMAZINGLY TASTY!!! The staff was pleasant.

That said, I would not go back, nor can I recommend it. Upon check in we were informed that we (two people, one of whom is 6'4\" or 1.93 meters tall) had requested a twin bed, but they were going to give us a king bed. Now, I have an email confirming my selection of a king bed. I was charged for a king bed.

What we got was a bed that measured (yes we double checked) 135cm x 190cm (roughly 4.5' x 6'). THAT is a European DOUBLE bed, NOT a king sized bed. When we commented on it we were told, correctly, that European bed sizes are smaller than USA's. Yes, we said, we know, but this bed did not meet the measurements of a European king- we checked those specifications before we booked the room. Our staff member, a lovely woman named Maty, told us with a straight face that this was THEIR definition of a king size. They had another king, an elite king, and that one was bigger.

Look, the primary reason for a hotel is a safe, clean place to sleep. My boyfriend couldn't sleep. He was longer than the bed. If we need to pay for and book a bigger bed- no problem, but we need to know what we are getting. Don't tell me that I am getting a king, then slip me a double. And WHY would you say I requested a twin???

While the location was great, the hotel rooms need some investment. We had loose floor boards, loose bathroom tile, and the AC didn’t work. We had also requested the room be set up as a king bed but when we checked in, it was two twins. The staff was very nice though.

To say we were dissapointed, is an understatement! We arrived at the hotel at 8:30PM only to be told, we didn't have a room. It later transpired that there was a room but it wouldn't be available until 10pm. We went for dinner, returning to the hotel at 10:30pm only to be told that that there was in fact no room for us. We were then transferred to a neighbouring hotel to a room that was tiny and really wasn't suitable for two people sharing. I would like to know how to make a complaint.

The cap on the shower drain was loose, which made an uncomfortable to step on the drain.

For two days, I only had scalding hot water in my shower, which was a challenge to negotiate
They had me shower in a different room.

Besides that front desk, staff were very knowledgable and kind, and I believe the hotel is overpriced

I booked a room with outdoor space, in this case a patio; the patio came with many extras, such as cockroaches, wood lice, pigeon poo and the kitchens smoke extractor .
The cockroaches eventually moved in, we had one in the toilet this morning

When we checked in, we were given a room on the fifth floor, which is actually their lower level (basement). I requested another room. The bathroom was small, with no place to hang towels. There was a towel warmer right next to the shower door, and we had to be careful when getting out, as it was constantly on and hot.

The decor was pleasant, the towels, robes and slippers were clean and soft. The room was cosy and the television hood. However the room was not spotless and very noisy. I didn’t sleep well as a result. The receptionist tried to charge me for my stay when I had prepaid and didn’t apologise. The porridge was inadequate, a cheap plastic pot. Considering the cost of a nights stay, I was very disappointed. I won’t be staying here again.

Their food was delicious and they always went out of their way to make sure you were satisfied. So accommodating and all so pleasant. We did an advanced full payment for a premium room for 4 nights. Due to flight delay, we arrived at 11:45pm. Reception staff said the room was under maintenance and that another room had been booked in a sister hotel. I then scrolled through past comments in Expedia and realised all customers were given the same excuse. I asked to speak to a manager for refund. They said there was no manager, and I had to call a reservation hotline the next morning to handle it myself. After an hour, they sent us to Ceasar hotel at 1am. Reception said Indigo didn't reserve a room for us, and they always sent last minute guests to them. At one time, Ceasar was full when the guests arrived, and they actually took up the mess by helping guests to find another hotel. Luckily, Expedia has a 24 hour live chat with real CS. The kind CS was Babbli. He's so empathetic that he offered to help with the refund so I could book another hotel. So be careful when you book the premium room. By the way, they sent customers to a standard room with a cheaper price too.

My check in time was confirmed as 1500 but my room was not ready until 1615, leaving me waiting around. I am entitled to a guaranteed late checkout as an IHG Gold Elite member but I was told by front desk staff this may not be possible. 3 times my room was entered the following morning starting at 8:15am by staff, twice without knocking. Manager stated he would look into my concerns and email me but almost a week later, no such email has been received. Unacceptable for a 499GBP/night hotel. Would absolutely not recommend.

48 hours in London!

Nice clean room which had a safe and mini fridge. Hotel was quiet and on a nice street neat Paddington station…so super easy to get around. Bathroom was small and shower was in poor condition. Hie. Wheel off on the shower door, and spray nozzle leaking at the hose.

Front desk was great…Raz was really helpful.

Very convenient with location near paddington station. Room was very quiet despite being in a busier location. Easy walk to Hyde park. Probably much better areas for shopping and restaurants in London but the ease of transportation made that not matter much.

I book upgraded room for $300 per night, on my arrival it wasn't available. They ended up giving me the room from the sister hotel next door. The room was very small, and cheaper in price. I wasn't issued the price difference refund. Manager wasn't available.
The worst service!
I am glad I am a travel blogger and definitely will add this hotel in my article of the hotels not to book while traveling to London.
