The hotel was clean and very nice but no one tells you about the parking garage (if you use their parking). You get a key fob, they tell you to scan it and it will open the tiny one-door garage. Your car has to fit perfectly in the little tray and then the garage shuts and the car elevator goes all the way down to the basement. I wasn’t aware that my husband should not have been in the car as it was lowered. I panicked and had to call him back up with the fob, hoping he hadn’t opened any doors while he was down there. There are instructions in German but I’m American and the front desk agent didn’t explain the process to me. Thank God my husband wasn’t hurt down there.

The location is great, it's clean and rooms are decent size. However, the AC didn't work and the staff made no attempt at fixing it, said we should open the windows. The tub is old and worn down and the hair dryer is also old and not very useful showing poor maintenance.

Liked the large windows and the large room. Breakfast was good. However it was hot in Berlin and we had chosen the hotel because it had airconditioning (AC). The AC in the whole hotel was broken so our room was uncomfortable and noisy when the windows were open. We were not told about the AC when we booked in or we wouldnt have stayed. It was not fixed during our stay.

Originally I booked a room with a bathtub as depicted in the pictures, but I ended up a room without it and instead with accessibility (although I do not have accessibility issues). That was understandable anyhow.

However, right after I checked in, I realised that I could not use wifi with my cell phone. I reported this issue to the receptionist, and I was told that they knew the issue: it was selectively happening to some phones, unfortunately. This means that they had already recognised the problem, and so I expected from them some alternative ways to use wifi (such as a voucher that allows me to use other wifi carriers). But I was told nothing about it until the next morning, so I made a hot claim about it because wifi was included in the service that I was supposed to get from the hotel during my stay. After this claim, in the evening that day, they offered two compensation choices. I think I got the choices only because I claimed the wifi issue; otherwise, I may have gotten nothing but no wifi during such a short trip for two nights. Wasn't it better that they notified this wifi issue beforehand and provided me with some alternative options? I am still not satisfied with how they handled this matter during my stay.

Hotel is about 15 min walk from most main tourist places. Many restaurants/cafe 3 min walk. It is not new nor old, renovated hotel hence it could be more fresh. Stylish on its kind, lots of red and curious curtains in the room. Didn’t get to try the breakfast but it seem like a nice place with an adequate breakfast. I would rate it 3,5 star hotel .

I absolutely loved my stay here and would 100% come back! The staff were all so lovely and very welcoming.
The room was gorgeous and perfect for what we wanted.
The beds were ridiculously comfortable and genuinely the best night sleep either of us have had in a long time!
Our hot water wasnt working and within 5 minutes of telling the reception someone had come up to try and fix it and we were moved to a new room when they couldnt!
A lovely hotel that I would thoroughly recommend.
We didnt have breakfast included, instead bought a pastry from Lidl each morning for about £1, if you dont each much this is perfect but if you like a big breakfast the hotels breakfast looked very tasty!

Great hotel in an excellent location for exploring Berlin. Wouldn't recommend the rooms if you're sharing with a friend as there is no privacy in the rooms, not even a curtain dividing the bathroom and the bed, just some sheer see through fabric.

Overall good hotel, went there at least half a dozen time when in Berlin. However for my most recent stay, for a reason I don’t understand, I was given a handicap access room. I don’t have any issue with this, but the bathroom was not at all convenient for a non-handicapped person : water everywhere etc. Appart from this, great stay as usual.

We stayed here for 3 nights. The front desk staff was friendly at check-in. There are some cons though. The carpeting looked very old and beat up. The bed was too sunk in and the air conditioner did not reach a very cool temperature even on the coldest setting. Also, hotels.com says “breakfast included”, but that’s only true if you pay the hotel an additional €12 at check-in or €14 after check-in (per person). That really adds up if you’re on a tight travel budget. Fortunately all of our issues were relatively minor. Overall, not a bad hotel.

The Arcotel Velvet is well placed,near the S and U Bahn and surrounded by restaurants and bars, in walking distance of historic sights of Berlin. The staff were very helpful and fresh apples are brought to the room daily. A novel idea in a city of sin!

The whole hotel was excellent; staff were always ready, helpful and friendly; everything was clean and in place when we arrived.
Breakfast was simple but had plenty variety and was of good quality.
Its location was superb and quite close to train stations, and major attractions of Berlin (like the Berlin TV Tower).
For the fairly short check-in and the fact that this is a 4-star hotel, we had paid a pretty cheap price for 3 nights, which we really didn't expect. Our rooms were comfortable and had wall-length windows that gave a pleasant view to the streets.

The only minor inconvenience for us was the garage: when we wanted to take out our car, we had to inform the staff to open up the garage; when we came back we had to get the key for the garage ourselves and close it; since parking is quite the big deal around here, it wasn't that ideal.
While it's really nothing that big of a deal, consistency in this area would've been preferred.

I was sent an email about an upgrade so i paid the extra but it was not worth it. Zero view. The room was not \"newly renovated\" and the amenities were the same you'd expect at any hotel. I was given an accessible room and the bathroom was terrible. I felt as though i was in a hospital. I hope this is not how all accessible rooms are. The staff were not friendly during checkin. Never asked how my stay was. I will be back in berlin soon and will not stay there. I've never written a negative review before.

Good location - hotel no more than 1- 2 stars

The location of the hotel was really central but unfortunately next to a derelict building which is undergoing a rebuild. It is incredibly noisy particularly on the lower floors of the hotel ( although this would be expected for a central location). The amenities provided were very basic but adequate. However, reception staff were not at all helpful - if anything rude. We were dismayed that cups and glasses were not washed or replaced after our first night at the hotel. The shower flooded leaving the carpet in the room soaked because the seals on the shower unit in the middle of the room, had gone. We did clean up using towels - these did not get replaced either.
The beds were standard.

Myself and my boyfriend stayed in the Arcotel Velvet for two nights. It was a fantastic stay, the rooms are spacious and extremely comfortable and the staff were very friendly. We would definitely stay again if returning to Berlin.

Great little hotel in a very cool neighbourhood. The breakfast was a little pricey and there are great options in the area that offer the same food for 2/3 the price. The room was comfortable, clean, hip, and quiet. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Access to and from Tegel airport was a breeze.

Great hotel in excellent location for sightseeing

This is a great hotel. The room was spacious, the double-bed was a good size, and the bathroom was clean. Other reviewers had concerns about the shower area being open to the room, apart from a curtain, but we had no problem with this. It was, however, good that the toilet was separate from the bath/shower area, and had its own door.
The hotel is in a great location for visiting Berlin’s main museums and other sites. A short walk north of the hotel is a small section of the Berlin Wall (Gedenkstätte Berliner Mauer), with great information panels. It runs up to Mauerpark, which has an open-air flea-market on Sundays, as well as a lively outdoor karaoke session (again only on Sundays).
Even closer to the hotel is Museum Island, with some fantastic museums. Note that many Berlin museums close on Mondays.
We didn’t try the breakfast at the hotel. There are numerous eateries close by, for both breakfast and late-night meals.
All in all we had a great time in Berlin and we really liked the hotel. We had only one gripe: We have stayed in hotels all over Europe, and in many of them a complimentary bottle of water awaits you on the dressing table. There was a bottle of water here as well, which we naturally assumed was complimentary, and it was only when we had broken the seal that we realised there was a price-tag of €4.10 on it! But they did give you free apples!

The hotel was clean, modern and the staff were friendly enough. Close to links for Ubahn and over ground tram to take you into Berlin centre. It is only around a 20 minute walk into main areas of Berlin - use google maps rather than following road signs etc when walking. Down side of the hotel is that dining area and bar only opened for Breakfast, could not get a drink if after Breakfast hours, Breakfast in hotel is 10 euro each, however nice bakery across the road where you can get two teas, to breakfast rolls and pastries for less than 10 euro in total. Surrounding bars and restaurants good value. There is a mini bar in the room but no facilities to make own hot drinks. The hotel is in a quieter area of Berlin on the outskirts, the tram passes by outside regularly but unless you are a real light sleeper this will not keep you awake.

Nice hotel spoilt by noise.

We picked the hotel as it was central so we knew there was a risk of traffic noise. When we checked in we asked if there were any quieter rooms available and were given a room at the back, overlooking a small courtyard. The receptionist said there was building work going on nearby (as there is in much of the centre of Berlin) but it wouldn't start until 8am.
The air conditioning in our room was very inefficient so we were pleased to see that the window opened. The first night passed with no problem. The second night we were woken a 3.20am by loud talking and laughter from outside. It was from a room across the courtyard where people were having a party with the window open. Even when we closed our window we could still hear the noise. We were forced to 'phone reception and the noise stopped.
The second night was ok.
The third night we were awoken in the early hours by loud voices and had to close the window and swelter. This happened each night and it would seem that the courtyard is used by smokers. In addition, for the last three night (we arrived on a Friday for 7 nights) the building work started before 7am, although the hotel has no control over this.

Love this hotel despite poor air con & lumpy bed!

Have stayed here 5 times - perfect location and love lots about it. Especially the bathroom arrangement!

However, this time the hotel was so hot, & air con so poor, that we could hardly sleep, in either room we tried! I woke up with my heart racing a few times because it was so hot and stifling. Kept window open but v noisy. And the mattress has seen better days - admittedly I am the prince was and the pea, but it was worn and lumpy.

So while I love the place, it fails on the absolute basics for a hotel, i.e. enabling you to get a good nights sleep. Unlikely to return.

The room boasts a floor to ceiling window which gives a unique view on the surrounding area. The bed is comfortable and the room a good size. I would say that the room is quiet except for hearing the tram go by occasionally. This didn't bother me but it might bother others. It is close to both a tram line and an underground line making it easy to get anywhere you wish in the city.

Great staff

I loved staying at the Arcotel. It's in a fantastic location - very close to subway stations like the Oranienburger and it's not as touristy as Friedrichstrasse area, so you get a nice mix of tourist area turning into more so a residential area. It's also a 15 mins walk to the Hackerschek Market which was very convenient. I loved the vibe of the place.

The hotel itself was really great. The room was very clean, and the bed was comfy with fresh linens. The reception staff on duty in the later afternoon of Friday Oct 21 were fantastic. My room didn't have a teapot in it, so they went out of their way to find a teapot and cups/saucers and right then and there, I gave the place 5 points - even if the view from my room was that of a construction site :D The wifi wasn't great on the first two nights but significantly improved. The hotel itself is great value for your money and I would highly recommend it.
