We were offered an upgrade on arrival but had to decline two options before being given a room that suited us (didnt like the ground level options). Once settled, our stay was wonderful overall — the room itself was lovely, comfortable, and we were especially thankful for the fan as it was quite warm.

The staff were amazing — friendly, helpful, and very welcoming throughout our stay.

Unfortunately, housekeeping was disappointing. We’d return each day to find only the bed made, but with lint (almost as if the bedding had been dropped on the floor). The room really needed a good sweep, the counters wiped, and used glasses replaced — small details that make a big difference.

The photos on the website don’t quite represent the current state of the lobby. It felt tired and in need of a deep clean and some furniture refresh.

With some attention to cleaning and maintenance, this property could easily match the level of service provided by its excellent staff.

Very friendly and helpful staff at both reception and housekeeping, but the 'double room' I had was too tiny to move in (but that didn't matter because I was out at work all day). The main problem was, that it was also too dark. Such small rooms need net curtains to let in light and ensure privacy (mine faced a roof terrace and other rooms, so I couldn't keep the heavy, dark drapes open). More bulbs and brighter interiors are needed.

Amazing boutique hotel with exceptional service.

Great boutique hotel with a beautiful rooftop bar and located in an amazing area full of restaurants and shopping. The service was impeccable. The reception staff are extremely helpful and polite and the hotel in general was well serviced.
The rooms are well kept, comfortable, and modern with air-conditioning.

This hotel is very convenient for the heart of Mitte. The room I had was quite small and a little worn, but generally fine. The most significant issue is the noise. I could hear doors and windows opening and closing, water running and even someone’s phone ringing, something I haven’t noticed in other hotels and not ideal if you’re a light sleeper.

The Monbijou is always my first choice for Berlin. The only reason I did not give it five stars on property condition was because my bathroom sink leaked significantly when I arrived and took a day to fix. Housekeeping should have caught it (water was running straight down the pipe onto the floor). Housekeeping also left some strange metal part in the shower -- I never did learn what that was all about.

The property is close to many attractions and a train station. A young staff (male) was very friendly on day one of my arrival. the property was nice and clean.
But, this is the first time that I have seen a hotel room does not have a fridge, TV did not work most of the time, tea and coffee making was not available, but I asked for a kettle and got one. when I wanted to check out I was asked to pay an extra 43 euros for city taxes. When I had booked through Expedia, it was clearly written that I have paid for all fees and taxes. I am not sure if this was Expedia's miscommunication and Hotel's.

A nice, cozy hotel with a great location to explore Berlin for a 2-night stay. Our room was in a side building on the 1st floor, but navigating to it was confusing. We had to go up to the 2nd floor first, then down one floor to reach our room, and to exit, we had to go up to the 3rd floor before heading down to the ground level. Unfortunately, the street noise was unbearable, making it difficult for me to fall asleep.

Greeted by Oskar, great guy and an asset to the business. Helpful and welcoming. In stark contrast, one receptionist was quite rude to me when I accidentally fell asleep by the fire in lounge area whilst watching a movie on my iPad. I had one foot elevated (without shoes) due to severe pain in my leg after walking. I had just checked out and was waiting for my travelling companion to collect our bag from the storage area. It left a bad taste after what was otherwise a great trip both in terms of this great hotel, its great location and an overall fab trip! Tip to young lady, next time ask nicely and lose the aggressive accusatory tone, no room for that in customer service.

My go to hotel while in Berlin. It’s a very handsome hotel with a great bar. The mattresses and bedding make for a decadent bed. The real reason I choose it over and over again is the location - right by the river Spree, museum island, great restaurants, great shopping, not to mention a market every Saturday right around the corner. It’s also right next to the Ubahn which also makes it very convenient for getting anywhere else in town. My only 2 suggestions for this hotel would be to have coffee makers in the room and to have more than 1 English Channel on the TV. They have smart tvs but with no access to Netflix’s or Prime :-( That being said I still choose this place time after time.

The location was great. Very central to everything we wanted - Hackescher Markt, public transit and cute shopping on Rosenthaler Strasse.

There was a very long hallway to get to the side wing and elevator on the side wing was out of service which was annoying. Stairs were a bit painful post marathon.

Room was comfortable, but shower only had half glass and water ended up all over the bathroom. It smelled a bit musty and you could tell there was some water damage.

Overall average but location made it worth staying. Lobby bar with fireplace was nice.

I have a great fondness for this hotel as it just feels good walking in there. There is a ton of personality and great art in the public spaces and the staff is exceedingly agreeable. The only issue I have is that the rooms are in need of repainting. The state of the walls is inconsistent with the rest of the hotel. The best thing about the room is the bed, which is very comfortable.

The bed and shower were great other than the shower only having a small glass partition that made it impossible to have a really vigorous shower without flooding the bathroon. The location is great, very close to a train station but not too close. There are many restaurants and shops in easy walking distance as well as a nice park. Thanks for a great four night stay.

The location is super central, within walking distance from museum island and easy transport for the rest of the city, and a direct train to the airport! Half a block from the train station where you can also catch a direct train to the airport. Metro stop with 3 different lines two blocks away. Lot's of restaurants half a block away. The place is clean, convenient located a few blocks from the historic Alexander Platz.
Some of the front desk staff were very helpful and willing to answer questions related to transportation, etc. Others had an attitude and had no idea how to help. Customer service training will be helpful.

The rooftop bar should have longer hours and serve pretzels! Bretzel The chairs and cushions should be set up earlier so that guests like me could sit there do do my writing work. But all over it is a very good hotel at a great location! Very easy to get there directly from the airport by train - The RE 8 to Ost Bahnhof there you change to the S7 to Hachescher Markt. But be very sure you pay the correct fare. You will need a one-way adult ABC ticket. Then validate it in the red machines on the platform. If you don't it will cost you 60 Euros or more!

We received a warm welcome at reception.
Our room was on the 3rd floor, street side with a lovely view and a large full window opening out onto the street. The room had a lovely view of the local locality. Even though the trams run directly below (great for local transport), you could not hear these with the window closed. But isn’t that part of the city vibe and ambience. The shower was great and everything was well appointed, clean and tidy. Great hanging and storage space. A jug and cups were available by request from reception.

The property offers a great bar and lounge room and on the roof a wonderful roof top bar and sun area.

There are many food options around and shopping.

Well worth the stay! We would certainly stay again.

I love this hotel like a close friend with faults. It excels in the areas most important to me: the bed is super comfortable, the staff is very nice, the location is superb, and the breakfast is fabulous.

The two areas where the hotel could improve are the room furnishings and the air conditioning. I stayed in two rooms over two weeks, and in both cases the chairs looked worn and a bit tired, especially compared to the fantastic appearance of the public areas. Also the faded legs needed a good polish. (The elevator floor also needs some love). Except for ON and OFF, the air conditioning controls didn’t work at all and took the temp down to 16 Celsius. That was quite cold.

All in all, I look forward to being back.

Great hotel and location, staff were great and we were given a room upgrade which was a nice surprise. Cannot fault anything but if i was being picky id have liked to have a coffee/tea point in the room and an iron would have been very handy. I know these were available from reception but ideally having it in the room is much more convenient. Will definitely stay again.
