My family stayed at Hotel Nikolai Residence for just about two weeks over Christmas and New Year's Eve. We are a family of four - my husband, myself, our 12-year old son and 16 year old daughter. We knew we'd be there a fairly long time and wanted as much space as possible so we rented the largest available room, which allowed us all to have our own space. It was very clean and very comfortable. I was very happy to find that there were more than enough pillows and blankets. Housekeeping came daily and did a great job. We checked in after reception hours, and it was seemeless. We stopped in at the reception desk the next day and the man there was very friendly and helpful.
The area is absolutely ideal. If you're looking to sight-see in Berlin, this is the place to be. Many highlights are in easy walking distance, and public transit in Berlin is excellent. Many great dining options, and Museum Island is a 5-minute walk away.
The rooms are well insulated against noise. We were there over NYE and despite the constant fireworks all night, the sound level was very low.
Highly recommended - I'd stay there again

Very clean and well maintained hotel. The front desk staff are very professional and kind. The building is very secure. During the day the front door is locked and the front door staff has to unlock the door. After hours you have to use a key to access the front door, hallway interest and elevators. Only think I wished it had was a refrigerator in the rooms and probably not have carpeted rooms.

Perfect 5 stars for accommodating our whole family so well! I also realize we were there on the hottest day, but there is not AC that we could find in the room, just fans. Also, we saw laundry on the listing, but they don't have a laundry facility on site, they can just do it for you within 2 days. Nothing dropped my rating, just helping future bookings.

The business center was helpful to take calls and have a place to escape to!

My friends and I stayed in the 1st floor family room. The room was clean and the hotel was very close to the old town. The mattresses were on the softer side, which I didn't mind but some of my other friends were concerned about accidentally rolling off the bed.
Our one complaint was that the internet was spotty at best in our room, but it wasn't too much of a problem since we were out during most of the day.

Firstly and most importantly, the staff are lovely and helpful. The location is excellent for walking or public transport, with several stations nearby you can’t go wrong.

The hotel is small, so make sure you have some breakfast plans elsewhere, it aside from that, perfect size, excellent location and definitely staffed with friendly folks.

Perfect stay in Berlin Mitte

We where pleased with our doubleroom superiore, lots of space and a bathroom very clean and with lots of space - a shelf for our toiletthings would be an improvement. We were very pleased with staying at a hotel rigth in the center of Berlin, and yet in a quiet area with great history. The receptionist were very helpfull all day, so in all we had a very nice stay which fully was living up to our expectations

A hidden gem from which to explore Berlin

A great hotel to use as a base to explore Berlin, tucked away in a quiet cul-de-sac but only a 5 minute walk to the bustling Alexanderplatz or over the river to Museum Island. Good connections too to the rest of the city via the U-Bahn or Alexanderplatz station. Staff really friendly and hotel clean and tidy. No breakfast however the staff recommended Alex’s in the main square - again 5 minute walk - which suited us perfectly. As a first time visitor to Berlin I’d recommend if you are looking for a base from which to explore.

Room for five adults was excellent. Service and staff at this hotel are impeccable.the location is perfect for Alex Platz, Rathaus, the u Bahn , the tower and all museams. All can be reached on foot If it’s three star because there is no fixed a/c then the in room fan units were more than up to the job. 100% recommend the hotel and definitely will be back.

This my second stay at this lovely hotel. The staff has always been so friendly and courteous, including wishing me a joyous Christmas when I was here for it in December. They even mailed a camera I left in my room to my home in the US! Rooms are clean and spacious and the location is amazing. A major hub by the park and some amazing German restaurants all around!

My family and I stayed here over Christmas and we were thrilled with the location! Easy access to the train, busses, and we never had a problem getting an Uber. We were surrounded by so many Christmas markets that were easy to walk to. There is also a really nice laundromat close by, and our room was always nicely put together when we returned at the end of the day. We would definitely stay here again!

Hotel Nikolai is in a small little village tucked away in the middle of Berlin’s center. You can feel the old flair from the small cobblestone streets that are only for pedestrians. At the same time, walk three minutes and you’re out in Berlin, close to wonderful sights and the beginning of a great walking tour down the main strip that leads all the way to Brandenburg gate. The train stop nearby does straight to Berlin HBF, which is convenient too. Lots of restaurant options! The staff is extremely friendly. The room is modern and clean.

Great value, friendly and helpful staff, clean, safe, and a short walk to Alexanderplatz, Berlin TV Tower, Museum Island.

The hotel was located in a quiet courtyard next to the Nikolai Church with a gated parking lot inside the courtyard (18 Eur / night). I was able to go in and out of the parking, although I decided not to drive during my visit.

The hotel is pet friendly (10 Eur / night) and the staff even gave us some doggy snacks!

Beds were clean and comfortable. Bathroom was spacious and clean. Plenty of hot water pressure for 3 adults.

Not sure what else to say. I would certainly come back if I plan on staying in the area again.

Location, location , location !
There is no better spot to stay in Berlin. The staff is super friendly and you are just few steps from St Nicholas church/museum and its district . The founding place of Berlin.
One thing you need to know is that the hotel does not have A/C and your stay during the summer might get uncomfortable depending on your expectations. The staff were kind and placed a second fan in the room and the place is quiet enough to sleep with windows open (sun rises at 4:30am though) but still tough if you are used to sleep in cooler conditions.

I loved this hotel, we were 3 friends in a room with 3 twin beds, room was big enough, loved restroom and shower, very clean, breakfast was nice, Maura from the cafeteria was amazing... and the location: the best! it has a lot of places to eat and drink and just turning the corner: a little beautiful square by the river with several dining options. The hotel was mostly clean and the room felt well kept, with the exception of the smell of old water and sewage coming from the bathroom that wouldn’t go away. The wifi was extremely slow and unreliable, I wasn’t able to use it for work and had to go elsewhere for internet. There is NO laundry service despite what the listing says. When we went to check out their card machine was broken and we ended up having to run to an ATM to get cash last minute since we had a train to catch.

Most of these things can be overlooked or understood. The main issue I had was that at every commentary or request, we were met with extremely disappointing customer service. When I asked about the laundry, I was initially met with a “no, we don’t have that here” and then we were told that if it was an item or two their housekeeping might do it, but we had to do a full load and that didn’t fly. At the end, when the cards weren’t going through, it was made to seem like it was our fault that it didn’t when the receipts clearly showed “system failure” on them. No attempt to fix the terminal was made. Finally, when we made it clear that we had a train to catch and we needed the closest possible ATM, the receptionist said the closest he knew was at Alexanderplatz, 15 minutes away. He made no attempt to verify this. We googled it and found one almost within view of the hotel front door.

Overall, the hotel is okay but the attitude we were met from reception with was enough to never recommend it.

Delightful hotel with great amenities

Wonderful place to stay in the Museuminsel/Alexander Platz area! Very clean, with modern fixtures and comfortable beds. The location is great for visiting many museums or for getting on the U-bahn and going elsewhere. We liked it so much we extended our stay an additional night and cut the next part of our trip shorter!

For English speakers, the very helpful staff spoke excellent English and it was no problem to navigate anything.

Fantastic experience at Hotel Nikolai for a long weekend.
Exceptionally friendly staff who couldn't do enough for you, such a friendly wlecome upon arrival.

Beautiful fresh modern room, very comfortable with all that you need.
The hotel is located in a beautiful quiet square, with excellent cafes and restaurants within a couple of minutes walk.
Located close to the river with stunning views and within easy walking into Berlin.
I would highly recommend to anyone and hope to return myself one day soon

The location is really good as you are a 10 minute walk away from Alexanderplatz. The main reason for visiting Berlin was for the Christmas markets. 2 of which were a very short walk away. The Ubahn/Sbahn were also no more than 15 minutes walk away. The hotel was quiet, clean and I felt safe staying there. Would recommend.

Overall a great stay in a small well cared for hotel. Triple room was as pictured, with a half wall offering some privacy between the beds. Beds were comfortable and room was very clean. Amenities such as bathrobes, hair dryer, safe, etc were provided (and minibar for a fee). Only negative was the wifi was a little slow and sometimes cut out, but always worked in the lobby. Berlin is a very large spread out city so there is no one \"best\" location but this was a good location close to museum island and plenty of restaurants/cafe nearby. Hotel entrance is in the Nikolai plaza courtyard. Front desk staff was friendly and spoke English.

We stayed 2 nights and I must say it was a very lovely space. T
Big room for European standards. Hair and washing products are bulk and probably could be better quality. Good and consistent wifi.

The area is very tourist and central, plenty of eateries. Reception staff were very friendly and allowed us to leave our bags as we arrived early.

The only issue was a bit of noise due to some repairs nearby, but definitely not the hotel's fault.

In all, we would stay again.

Excellent location, near Nikolas Church (oldest in Berlin) and AlexanderPlatz. Easy to walk to everything: shopping, restaurants, the canal waterfront, museums. The front desk attendant was extremely helpful, providing us with a parking pass (for a small daily fee) that we could use to park in the neighborhood. The rooms were well furnished, clean, modern, and had all the amenities we needed... and some that we didn't expect, like robes and slippers! Our group was 6, so we had three connecting rooms, with 2 twin beds in each room. It worked perfectly. The neighborhood was safe and quiet (overlooking a courtyard in the front and the back) but, like I stated earlier, close walking distance to everything. I would definitely stay here again on a future trip to Berlin!
