Charming hotel in East Berlin
The Catalonia is a charming hotel in the eastern portion of the city. It was clean and comfortable, with helpful and kind staff and a modern aesthetic. The breakfast bar is extensive, but perhaps a bit pricey. The hotel is located in a dense neighborhood that doesn't always feel very clean or safe, but the hotel itself is very safe and comfortable. We heard loud sirens throughout the day and night, so there must be some sort of hospital or fire station nearby. Transportation around the city is pretty easy, with many different train stations within blocks of the hotel.

A nice hotel with an industrial style/ asthetic. The room was very spacious and had everything we needed, there was a strange smell in the room we couldnt get rid of. The smell was likely due to a dirty mop used to clean the floor. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. Breakfast buffet was excellent with a huge range of food available, including fresh cooked to order omelettes and pancakes. I would definately stay again. The fitness room is small, but useful for a quick workout.

The hotel is in a good location, very near the U bahn giving access to the whole city. There a good restaurants near by as well as excellent options for breakfast. Our one complaint was the aircon only blowing warm air which made for an uncomfortable nights sleep. Other than that the room was reasonably big, the bed comfortable and the over bath rain fall shower was decent.

Very good hotel very close to one subway and within easy walking distance of two others, so ideal for getting around Berlin. Nice range of eating options close by as well.
I was initially put off by the somewhat 'curt efficiency' of the woman at reception, but all subsequent encounters were more like my earlier stays at the hotel with warm and friendly staff. I especially appreciated the unexpected birthday surprise of cheese cake!!!

Overall, the Catalonia Berlin Mitte is a great hotel, but my most recent stay there was spoiled by the fact that they closed their restaurant on the Saturday night to all guests because they had catered for a large coach party of elderly people.
The restaurant is advertised as being open from 12pm to 10pm so when I went down to grab a burger and beer at 9pm, I expected to be able to eat. However, the barman told me in a very abrupt manner that the kitchen was closed because of the large party.
There was no advance warning of this from hotel staff and due to the time of night, almost all other eating establishments in the immediate vicinity were either fully booked or closing. There was no signage, just a curt and sullen reply that there was nothing they could do. As such, I was unable to get a meal until breakfast the next morning.

This is a great hotel but it’s really disappointing to book a superior double room at extra cost, only to find that it has 2 single beds side by side in it. When I asked for a double I was told that there were none available.

Room smelt slightly of smoke when we arrived but not bad enough to ask to be moved. Kettle didn’t work but was replaced when we spoke to reception. Water leaked from the shower so had to put towels on the floor. Cleaned daily, location great for getting around Berlin either on foot or using public transport. Slightly disappointing that the being a silver member we would receive a bottle of sparking wine, it was a small individual bottle & not a 750ml which I would have expected.

We enjoyed the hotel very much. The staff was friendly and helpful. The lobby and bar area was nicely decorated and comfortable. The bed was a tad soft for our taste. I enjoyed the hotel very much but not 100% sure I’d stay again due to the location. Not much in close walking distance at night. In fairness, there is a subway across the street, the hotel will call a cab for you, or download the Bolt app.

We were impressed with the size and the quality of the room. The location in Berlin was very good. The rooms were impressively quiet, even when we later discovered the hotel was busy. Cleaning was of a high standard.
The fridge was a bit small, but this is a minor complaint. The bed, was big, and comfortable.
The pillows provided were poor, but could be replaced, on request.

I was in Berlin for 3 days on business and the Catalonia was perfect. Centrally located, near lots of great restaurants and walking distance to where I was having meetings. Perfect gym and sauna for the mornings and the breakfast service is an excellent value.

The hotel is very nice. The location is superb - there is an u-Bahn station less than 1 min walk, and just 2 stations to the Alexanderplatz, two big markets nearby - 5 min walk.

We were surprised to find two separate blankets in our double room but we were explained that this is the way German people sleep... the hotel is nice, we got big room as we were triple. the breakfast is rich, but expensive 20euro per person. but it was worth it. One big thing was not OK: they did not clean our room for 3 days!! we came after long day outside, wanting to take a shower, no towels, when we ask to get some they told us we should go down to the reception to take as there is only one person over there and they cannot come to us.. no toilet paper, no shampoo, the room was messy, and with COVID now rising up again, not to clean the room is very bad!

Very nice spacious hotel with friendly staff. Clean and modern. It’s a couple of stops from Alexanderplatz and although it’s a little out of town, it’s extremely well connected to the Metro right across the road and the mainline station just 5 mins walk away. Definitely worth a stay.

Perfect location for a hidden gem
I almost don’t want to write a review because this hotel is such a wonderful hidden gem and I’d like to keep the secret!
Truly one of the best hotels I have had the pleasure of staying in. So well located for Berlin. Right next to U Bahn so easy access to the centre (3 stops) or to the trendy night spots in Kreuzberg & Neukölln. There are 3 shops all within a super close walk (45 seconds) which is handy to buy snacks / alcohol or in our case milk for morning brews. (The room has a mini fridge to keep things cold).
Check in was simple and pleasant, the room was very clean with all the amenities you could need and a *very* good size for Berlin - certainly enough for me and my friend to relax and get changed in without feeling on top of one another. Storage was also very well designed. Located in a very safe area and hotel itself - despite being fully booked for our stay was so incredibly quiet. We didn’t hear any other guests the entire time. No loud noises from the other rooms or in the corridor

Room cleaning almost inexistent--I stayed at the hotel for 8 nights and my room was cleaned only 3 times, which also meant that bathroom soaps and minibar were not refilled daily. The staff at the front desk were never polite and would not help with anything... they weren't even able or willing to indicate on a map any nearby covid-19 testing locations... a pretty standard question to be expected these days at any hotel, worldwide.

The location of the hotel is convenient and the service was good in all areas, kitchen, room and front desk. The main problem (in particular on the weekend) was the noise: from the construction accross, the traffic and from the night live! Get a room high up or on the back side, not to the entrance!

My husband and I stayed there last weekend. The hotel is very well located right besides a subway station. The rooms are clean and modern, the breakfast excellent. Safety is on a high focus in terms of distancing... - we really enjoyed our stay.

Nice, clean and tidy rooms. Smallish shower. Not much flare overall, and hard floor when some would prefer a carpeted room. Our minibar did not keep drinks cold.
Air conditioning came in handy! Very nice lobby and bar although we couldn’t make much use of it due to the CV pandemic but you can also sit outside. One day our door was knocked at 9am to clean our room and we were barely up - so we said please don’t come in and they actually didn’t clean our room that day at all, claiming that we left our ‘do not disturb’ sign on the door, which we hadn’t, so that wasn’t ideal. Location is good, 10-15 mins walk from Alexanderplatz and plenty of restaurants nearby and U Bahn station.

It is a beautiful 'boutique' kind of hotel. As soon as you enter, u will already notice the cool painting at the receptions n their lobby bar is a really cool place to hang out at.
It is just across the Heinrich heine Ubahn ( for those wd suitcases, that Ubahn has no lift or escalators).
I was given a PWD room beside the lift. On a regular day i wld request for change but i was feeling feverish so i did not bother.

I've stayed for 6 nights and had a great time staying at Catalonia Berlin Mitte which made my whole trip to Berlin just perfect.
The hotel staff was really nice and helpful with some great tips for traveling around by myself.
Rooms were very clean, comfortable and very quite which enabled me to get a good rest after walking around all day. There is also a very nice bar at the Lobby.
The location was also perfect, 2 stops from alexanderplatz and kreuzberg, and there are several cafes and restaurants in a walking distance around.
It was really easy also to get back to the hotel since the metro station is just around the corner.
For my next visit I would defiantly come again and I would love to recommend anyone else to stay at Catalonia Berlin Mitte.

Hotel is in good location next to public transportation and walking distance to a lot of tourist attraction, sadly there were a few things that really hurt my experience in this hotel-
1. the reception- while the people at the reception were nice, it took them around 10 minutes to check in every guest, and when there was a line it took around 30 minutes to check in, that never happened to me before in any other hotel, checking in should take a few minutes and they should really add another reception (since there is a place for 1 more in the desk).
2. the fridge- the fridge did not work during my stay which is a shame since i bought products to store there. when I called the reception the replay was \"we know and can do nothing about it\" which is very strange - if you know about it surely it was possible to fix it before my check in or during my stay?

The hotel was beautifully decorated with comfy king sized beds and a mini bar in each room. The staff at check in were very friendly and even let us check in early.
