The only good things about this hotel were the breakfast and the location. The concept of the hotel is interesting, but the execution really falls short. A lot of things in the room worn out. The record player barely worked — I guess previous guests might have broken it. There was no coffee maker in the room, and one of the mugs was so dirty at the bottom that it couldn’t be cleaned at all.
The bathroom wasn’t great either — there was mold, and the body lotion was so strange: it foamed up like soap, so I had no idea how to even use it. The soap itself seemed very harsh — it splashed on my clothes and actually bleached the color, leaving a spot.
Parking deserves a separate mention. I specifically asked about it beforehand because we have a large car, and of course, no one warned us that the parking was a duplex system. It took us half an hour to park because it was so easy to hit something.
Overall, for the price, you can definitely find a much better hotel in Vienna.

Hotel was like stepping into a Wes Anderson movie! I love it - my wife less so. It’s an acquired taste. Hotel is comfortable, clean and welcoming, although some aspects of the decor could do with some updating.

This is a great hotel in a great location in Vienna, I would definitely recommend it overall.

Some stand out positives:
- Great service at check in, I especially appreciated that the staff member checking me in didn't say my room number out loud when I was travelling alone.
- Staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay.
- I had breakfast in the hotel two mornings and both mornings it was delicious, definitely worth considering.
- The hotel is in a great location, it's on a quiet street so no excessive passing noise and you could walk into Inner Stadt or use multiple methods of public transport to get there.

Some minor things that prevented me giving 5 stars:
- One of the plug points in the room wasn't working
- TV in the room only had three working channels, all in German which I understand it is a German speaking country. However I also tried to mirror the tv to my phone which wouldn't work and the TV had no other ability to connect to any other apps like netflix, disney using my own sign in. This was pretty disappointing for such a modern hotel.
- On the day the room was cleaned the cups and glasses in the room weren't changed, when you have no real ability to properly wash cups in a room I think they should be changed after 2 days.

We found the Max Brown to be a great, budget-friendly option for staying slightly further out of town. The Neubau area has good options for cafes and restaurants, and the hotel itself is situated within walking distance of different tram lines into and out of town making it very easy to be in the centre within 20 minutes. We didn't try the restuarant but we went for a drink in the bar on one evening, it was very busy and the staff struggled to accomodate us even for one drink, which was slightly disappointing but hopefully a sign that it's a popular, well-liked place.

The perfect boutique hotel in Vienna!

Max Brown Hotel was the perfect boutique hotel for my partner and I, and we couldn’t ask for anything more! As soon as you step into the hotel, you are welcomed by lovely staff and beautiful interiors. The Large room was great. We had a big closet for our luggage, so we had space to move around. The bed was extremely comfortable. We loved that the hotel was walking distance to delicious brunch spots, and we found it was easy to get to the main centre. We barely had to take the public transport because we felt safe walking around. I would highly recommend this hotel! Don’t forget to take a photo in their photobooth in the lobby.

This hotel looks great at the lobby level and the front desk staff is wonderful. The first room we were put in had a bedside light ripped right off the frame and a broken record player. We asked to switch rooms and we're accommodated easily. The room we stayed in was definitely better but was visibly a little dirty with tufts of dust on the floors. Parking was a little iffy as well and at one point we were triple parked and would have never been able to get out of we wanted. They also make guests walk through a side corridor as to not disrupt the restaurant guests. Overall I'd stay somewhere else next time.

Hotel location is in a nice area of Vienna. Quiet but with some lovely coffee shops and restaurants within walking distance. The restaurant in the hotel itself had an interesting dinner menu and the food is very tasty - it’s a popular restaurant so would recommend booking ahead of time. Hotel room was of a decent size and relatively clean. Hotel reception staff were friendly. My one complaint is that the bath in my room did not drain properly and there was no bath mat so it was very slippery after the first use - would recommend requesting room with a walk-in shower if you are elderly or if your mobility is not very good.

An ok hotel. Could do with being more welcoming. Very much a functional check in, with no offer of any tips or sights to see if you are a first time visitor to Vienna. No information at all about the restaurant or the cinema or other facilities. I was in the annexe with felt a bit soulless.

There’s a kettle in the room, but no coffee - would rather a coffee machine than a soft basketball on my bed.

Nice toiletries and my room was spacious and clean.

Check out was very much the same as check in - totally not interested in if I had enjoyed my stay. Nobody greets you when you come into the hotel after a day out. They just seem to be uninterested in the guests!

It’s a 30 minute walk to the inner ring of Vienna, so if you are a solo traveller, and female (like me), I would avoid this hotel.

Nice interiors, but I would just like the staff to be less cool, and more warm.

Do NOT Book the Loft Room - we were cheated and mis-sold. Our room looked nothing like what is presented on the photo - instead we had a dark, no balcony room - far from the pictures. The pictures are not what you will get.

When we asked the front desk why our room is so different to what is on the website, we were told they only had 3 balcony rooms. If we wanted the balcony room, we were supposed to leave a note at booking (?) even though leaving the note doesn't mean it's guaranteed. None of this is mentioned on the hotel listing.

In fact, NONE of the photos actually represents the realistic view of the room. So you are not buying what you are sold. Hence it's hard to compare with other choices out there. We would not have booked what we have booked if we were shown the truth.

There is also no coffee making facilities, no daily housekeeping. In the property description - it says there will be coffee making (NO), daily housekeeping (NO).

Hence is a matter of luck what you get and it definitely may not be what you see on the pictures is what you will be getting.

The hotel knows this pictures will attract you to book then when you confront them for a refund, they will give the lame excuse is non-refundable booking. How is it so when it is a completely different product to what is booked?

Would you be happy if you were sold and paid for french fries and be getting a slice of bread in reality?

We are seasoned travellers, is the first time the hotel is dishonest.

Unfortunately the Wifi didn’t work at all in the room I had, 416. The staff said the technician was “working on it” however it was useless the entire stay. In the lobby and restaurant was fine. Just frustrating when you are trying to plan your day.
The breakfast was average and both days the hot food was cold. Good variety though.
The bed was comfortable and sleep was easy so that was good. Bathroom was outdated, sink didn’t work and the shower is over a bath so good to know if you’re older!! Very Art Deco, which I knew. Staff were very friendly but overall, it was not the hotel for me. Good location and good transport to the Christmas markets, so that was the main reason we went there.

It is the only part of the trip/Vienna I didn't like.
5 nights in a hotel and to not once receive maid service. The room was also already very dusty when I arrived. It was very upsetting that then on my fourth night I went downstairs and explained I haven't had any service since I got here. The man apologised and said he didn't understand how that has happened, that he will send someone straight away to go do my room. I checked that he meant straight away now and the room number was correct he said yes.
I waited in my room for an hour an half because I didn't want to be in the shower whilst a maid came. I arrived late to my dinner, got back to my room at 1am and still no one had been. And I hadn't been contacted either by the hotel to explain why a maid hadn't come.
I also am upset that I didn't get the room I booked.
It was claimed it was an upgrade but the room really is not what I wanted hence why I didn't book it. The room was too far away from the hotel door and unnecessarily long and high ceiling for me who was just travelling alone. I didn't like the shape of the room and how the bed was pushed to the end with lots of space behind me as I slept alone. I did express this at the desk that I didn't actually like the room but you said you couldn't do anything.
A member of staff in the restaurant / bar was ridiculously rude and aggressive to me. It was a shocking experience. Then every time I walked through restaurant after they looked at me like death.

Hotel room was ok, interesting design but some of the fixtures were showing their wear and the shower head was broken. The front desk staff were rude and unhelpful. They don't have coffee in the rooms at the moment, even though it is advertised on their website and the booking information as one of the key things they offer. No one mentioned this when we checked in, and when I later asked about it, was told that there was no coffee available other than as part of the breakfast buffet at 24 euro per person, and treated as if I was insane for expecting something different.

They also mentioned after we arrived that there was room cleaning only every 2 days--but we stayed for 3 nights and there was never any housekeeping done.

We stayed for 4 nights and were put in a room that had holes in the bedsheet and stains that looked like blood. Also the 2 night table lamps were ripped out of the bed and broken off.
We complained about this and got new bed sheets which was great but we never heard back on the lamps (manager said they‘d send their technical team but the damage was the same when we came back to the room.

We were quite disappointed staying at this hotel for details seemingly unimportant at first but that would never make us return. Firstly the reception is a big busy space with just one person working behind a desk that never says hello or notices you walking by giving the impression this is some walk-in student hall. The room was located in another connected building for which was inconvenient. The room had no side tables nor plugs at the sides of the bed which was SUPER inconvenient for anyone that would like to have their phone next to them while sleeping or a book to read handy. There was no coffee in the room, a basic I think for any hotel, just a kettle and two different size cups (?) for tea on a windowsill with again no plug... so I plugged the kettle in the bathroom - super logical. Adding up that the location is OK, not that convenient. And that you don't feel any welcome from the staff whatsoever we will not come back here

Worst possible experience at the restaurant. We arrived at 9:30 pm they sat us at the bar. 20 minutes later some young lady came and told us that the ribs would take 40 minutes, Then the fish 30 minutes. Proceeded to explain how the restaurant was different that each dish was brought one at the time that the idea was for us to “share” she was obviously intoxicated and we were shocked to see all workers at the bar pouring themselves drinks. We decided to ask for a pizza, they came back later to let us know that they had no tomato paste. We complained about the fact that we had already been there for 40 minutes and we had no food, the Chef came out to talk to us, we explained what had happened and he apologized and said that he would improvise and put tomatoes on the pizza. We felt discriminated against, it was 10:10 and finally ended up with having a cheese pizza with tomato’s on top, all while the 2 bartenders and glass washers kept pointing us out to other clients while they pour drinks for themselves. We will never come back to that terrible hotel.

The hotel is beautiful and room was very comfortable. The hotel staff was really fantastic. The restaurant staff made it awkwardly clear that they don’t want customers with kids to dine in the restaurant, which was a big minus. We really enjoyed our stay at Max Brown. The staff were friendly, the room was spacious (although the lighting was super weird... just lights by the door and then two bare-bulb lamps (that kind of 'trendy' edison bulb look) in one corner of the room, but didn't create much of a cozy atmosphere), and the location was great — 15 minutes walk to most of the museums and the ring road. We also ate at the restaurant downstairs and would recommend it.

Loved Max Brown Hotel!

The hotel is chic without feeling stuffy. The room was huge w/ a balcony including a table and chairs. The bed was dreamy and the bath products so pampering! Everyone, from the front desk to the restaurant, we’re friendly and helpful. I felt welcomed and looked after and would stay here again!

Like a youth hostel, but for grown ups

Max Brown 7th District is like a hotel that evolved out of youth hostel culture. It's super nice and friendly and honestly quite affordable, and you feel right at home, but with the added value of being able to retreat and have your peace when you want it.

Great hotel, Hip Decor

Very nice check in staff. Restaurant staff seemed over whelmed. Food was delicious though. Hotel is convenient, a 1 mile walk from the main square and on the bus route for easy transfers around Vienna. Quiet street and rooms. Super fun decor includes a basketball hoop and record player in room. My only disappointment was only tea was provided in room. No coffee. However, downstairs in the mornings was complimentary coffee station.

Great hotel! Excellent service, big spacious rooms with bathtub! The location just perfect! Close enough to the center but without the super touristic atmosphere around. The area full with Many good restaurants .

Very trendy Hotel. I stayed in one of the loft units. It was very nice, clean, and spacious. I’m definitely coming back. Lots of places to eat around and close to public transport.

Great staff and hotel

The hotel is in a slightly quieter residential district but there are still plenty of restaurants and bars. Staff were incredibly helpful and genuinely attentive (particular mention to Iris), whilst maintaining a laid back feel. Hotel itself is really nice, rooms have a unique feel to them and the bar area is a really nice place to have a few drinks, or eat. Would definitely go back.

Perfect stay at Max Brown

Really, really fantastic time. Beautiful hotel, the comfort bednive ever slept on, and staff who couldn't do enough for us - Iris was so helpful and supportive when I lost my passport!

Hip and super friendly hotel.

Generally very interesting looking style hotel. Very clean and great breakfast. Welcoming was just the best and all staff were super friendly and smiled. The condition of certain things is a bit worn, budget quality. I had a very bad showerhead that just did not shower, though when mentioning that to front desk they happily took it upon them. When I returned in sfternoon I had a new one! Great service, though of something Management could have had fixed before. So great Staff!!

Worth a stay!

What a cool hotel. Great vibe walking in and throughout the hotel into the room. The live plants are a great touch. The room was comfortable with lovely style. 5 stars.

Gorgeous hotel, delicious food and fabulous room.

This was our second stay at a Max Brown Hotel and we weren’t disappointed. Reception area is very cool but also very warm and welcoming. Staff are friendly and attentive. Breakfast is worth the price, especially for a buffet. Tastet pastry, cheeses, meats, guac bread and good coffee. Bar service at Seven North was slow but it was very busy the night we stayed. The menu for dinner is delicious. The common areas are fab. The decor is gorgeous and it’s a great place to hang out. The bed is comfortable and the room has gorgeous decor. We had a small issue with a smell in our room and it was handled graciously and efficiently which means we’ll definitely continue to stay at Max Brown Hotels. Handy location, 10 min walk to tourist sights and in a cool neighbourhood with great cafes and restaurants. Can’t fault the place.

Hotel looked and felt great. Thought the decor in the rooms was excellent. The cleanliness was excellent as well.

Only downside for me was the restaurant/bar, if you wanted to have just a drink it was a bit difficult to find somewhere to sit. Sits round the bar seemed to be reserved for those eating.
