The hibachi style grill was fantastic. Staff was very friendly and helpful besides them trying to sell us on buying a suite or whatever that is about. rooms were kept clean, pools and bars were fantastic.

The staff was great right from check in with Alfredo. He was kind, professional and welcoming. The entire staff worked very hard keeping the property pristine. The only drawback was the beach due to sargasm, but we knew that when we booked the trip. The pools are beautiful and well maintained. The food was excellent and the drinks were delicious. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. I wouldn't hesitate to go back again.

I traveled as a single mother with my two children (12 and 16) to this all-inclusive resort and stayed 6 nights. We had an amazing time. When we arrived, Edin Aguilar was our front desk coordinator. He joked with my kids and made us feel extremely welcome. I think it’s great that his face is among one of the first you see upon arrival.

Cristina was our concierge and she was amazing explaining the whereabouts of the resort to us and everything it had to offer. I was able to keep in touch with her via text with any questions I had which was very convenient. She was so friendly and treated us like she’d known us for years.

Laura Gomez, our housekeeper did an outstanding job for us everyday. Made towel animals for my kids and made sure we were fully stocked daily with everything we needed. Left our room pristine every afternoon.

Pablo, our server at dinner on Mexican Monday night was personable and sweet. We could tell that he took pride in his Mexican culture and wanted to share with us. We loved him and wanted to give special recognition.

We were celebrating two birthdays on our trip. My daughter’s 12th and my son’s 16th. The entertainment staff sang to them poolside and everyone joined in. They brought a cake at the hibachi restaurant and sang for them again. They also decorated our room and brought up another cake which was a total surprise!! This resort went above and beyond to make their birthdays special and unforgettable. I’m truly thankful for that.

The whole reason why I booked this vacation was to enjoy beautiful water and a lovely beach but that is not what I got. The pictures on the resort websites show a beautiful sugar sand beach with clear blue waters. What you get, is ugly sand bags, and eroded beach with never ending seaweed. Also they have a bird problem in their buffet. Never ending birds trying to steal the food off of plates. I would recommend separating the coffee from the bar like other resort I went to. The employees are nice but they lead on like they want tips. It feels like a tip motivated resort. And as an all inclusive vacationer, I really didn’t expect tips pushed on me everywhere I went . The previous resorts I have been to were not like this.
Aside from all that, I had a pleasant stay.

Great location, clean room, friendly (but not annoying) staff, top notch pools. Restaurants were wonderful, food at poolside pretty standard. Good selection of inclusive drinks. They are working hard to restore the beach - other hotels in the area are having the same erosion issues but there is still a nice beach area for relaxing. Family friendly but still a great getaway for couples. We’ll be back!

We visited RH over March Break as a family of four. Kids aged 8 and 11. The staff, grounds and rooms were lovely. The food was fantastic and there was lots to do. There was some sargassum at the beach so we just enjoyed the pools. They were really trying to keep the beach clean as best they could. We would definitely return and highly recommend this resort.

Best room, pools and grounds we have stayed at (5th trip to Riviera Maya). Loved the suite. So comfortable for our family with 2 young teens. Stayed late April 2026.

Food was not great, and we are not highly critical, usually easy to please. Like really unimpressed especially with International Night. Honesty, food was not good and the reason I probably won't return.

Staff was ok, really liked pool and outdoor staff a lot. Buffet waiters did not seem that interested in us with the exception of 2.

Lacks night life, but that's not our thing so no problems there. Had a great piano player in buffet one night tho. That was a highlight on a bad food night, we actually stayed the whole performance.

If we went again, and I'm on the fence, I did LOVE the room and the pools, we would just skip all inclusive and only eat at the pool restaurants, and use the kitchen in our room for simple breakfast/dinners ourselves.

We had an incredible stay at Royal Hacienda Resort—it truly stands out as one of the best all-inclusive vacations we’ve experienced as a family.

The resort itself is beautiful, with immaculately clean grounds and pools that made it a pleasure to relax and unwind each day. The atmosphere was welcoming and family-friendly, and everything felt thoughtfully maintained.

What really made our stay exceptional was the service. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, attentive, and genuinely eager to make our visit enjoyable. A special thank you to Sebastian, Hector, and Saul from the pool service—they were outstanding and made our poolside time even more relaxing. Leonel from the fine dining restaurant also provided excellent service and helped make our dining experiences memorable.

The food and dining options were fantastic. We appreciated how easy it was to book restaurant reservations, and the quality of both the food and service was consistently high. We typically enjoyed the buffet for breakfast, had lunch at the grills, and rotated between the two on-site restaurants for dinner. The live music during dinner added such a wonderful touch and made the evenings feel extra special.

Overall, Royal Hacienda Resort delivered an exceptional experience from start to finish. We would absolutely return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing, high-quality all-inclusive getaway.

Honestly, I can’t say anything negative about this place. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff members, and they never pushed the timeshare presentation on us. The food was amazing at the restaurants. However, their dessert options can be a little bit better. The pool is always clean and the drinks were up to par. We had a little health incident, and the staff were very prompt to provide care. Overall, my kids enjoyed their stay and I would return.

The hotel was clean and staff were friendly. However we paid extra for a beach front room and were in no way warned ahead of time that due to erosion the beach is a disaster. We were on a lower floor so our ocean view was just giant sand bags. I understand the resort can’t help Mother Nature- but they definitely could have made us aware of the beach issue prior to arriving. We were looking forward to a beautiful beach like in the resort photos online or like we had on our December trip to Cancun. It was very disappointing to say the least. The food at the steak house and Japanese steak house was really good. The food at the buffet was average at best. Hope this review can help someone else prepare for the reality of the beach so they won’t be as disappointed as we were.

This is an older resort, but is generally well maintained. It was very clean.

The pool was fine, but chairs were taken by the early birds by 8ish every morning.

The food at the buffet was mid for breakfast and slightly below average (I’ve been to prob a dozen all inclusives) for dinner. There was really only one lunch option, a grill by the pool, which was pretty good.

Members can reserve spots at the other restaurants three days in advance. As a non-member I was told the other restaurants required a reservation and there were ZERO openings for the 4 nights I was at the resort.

The beach is nonexistent. There is no usable beach. Just giant barriers holding back what little sand is left. The barriers are covered with hundreds of birds (and their waste). The area just past the barriers is just cloudy shallow water with rocks sticking out of it. I read other reviews and knew the beach would be a bit rough, so we brought water shoes and snorkeling gear, but the beach is truly 100% not usable. Even kids wouldn’t touch it. Also…covered in deep seaweed.

The Expedia gold member upgrade was just a $50 resort credit. No room upgrade regardless of availability because it was “high season” and they had to be left open for members.

Good beer selection. Liquor watered down.

I booked the trip on a ridiculous deal (under 700/person including airfare) and it felt like I got what I paid for.

Still had a good time. Not all bad, but I’d go elsewhere if I was paying full price.

We just had a wonderful 7 night stay at Royal Haciendas with 3 kids (7, 9 and 13). We enjoyed the pools, organized activities and our kids played a lot of basketball. The younger two enjoyed the afternoon arts and crafts in the at the kids club. We never managed to get a reservation at the 2 restaurants but enjoyed the nightly themed buffet. The food was all very good. Night time shows were fun but would love to see more evening activities and maybe a game room available in the evening. The one pool table at the bar was always occupied.

We booked a trip to Xel Ha through the hotel and transportation to the ferry to Isla Mujeres as well, which was incredibly convenient.

My wife and I were truly impressed by this place and the wonderful people who work here. They treat you as if they've known you forever and go out of their way to please you. The property is well-kept and clean. At the front desk, Alfredo truly excels. He took care of us during our arrival and departure, addressing all our requests.

Ian, our concierge, went out of his way to secure reservations for us at the specialty restaurants during our stay, especially for our wedding anniversary night.

Our room was spacious, well-maintained, and very clean, with a nice balcony to enjoy the views. The attention to detail was impressive.

All the on-site restaurants offered excellent food, and the service was fantastic. I was initially worried about my wife being a vegetarian. Still, as soon as we mentioned it to our servers at \"Palapa del Sol,\" Gerardo and Gilberto, they immediately offered vegetarian options and even called the restaurant manager, Elias, who then contacted Chef Gonzalo to create custom vegetarian meals for her. They truly went above and beyond to accommodate us.
The specialty restaurants are also worth trying at least once. \"Los Murales\" served refined meals and enjoyed great Japanese food at the teppanyaki table in \"Kinoko.\"

The only issue we encountered that might stop us from returning to the Royal Haciendas was the beach. It is affected by an invasive algae, which makes it unsafe for swimming. For us, a seawater swimming beach is very important for our vacation.

If you are planning to party, be advised that you can not get an alcohol drink until 11:00 a.m. and later (yes no bloody mary with breakfast). The staff is somewhat friendly (used to the tourist trap). Don't use the ATM in the lobby, it says it charges $7 per transaction but we got charged over $14. Resort is average.

We had a nice stay and were especially impressed by how exceptionally clean everything was—from our room to the common areas, the pools, and even the beach. It really stood out and made the whole experience feel comfortable and well cared for.
The food was another highlight. The buffet offered good quality meals, with a different cuisine featured each night, which kept things interesting. The poolside restaurants served amazing seafood, pizza, tacos, salads, and the à la carte options—Japanese and steakhouse—were excellent (just make sure to book those in the morning, as reservations are required).
One of the most memorable moments of our stay was enjoying a morning cappuccino on the restaurant terrace overlooking the sea at sunrise—truly priceless.
Our room was well equipped with a mini kitchen (microwave and coffee machine), which added extra convenience. The air conditioning worked perfectly throughout the resort, both in the rooms and in common areas, and the Wi-Fi was fast and reliable everywhere.
There were plenty of amenities to enjoy: a kids’ water playground, four clean pools, four jacuzzis, two tennis courts, and four pickleball courts. Daily activities like pool Zumba, yoga, and dance classes kept things fun and engaging. Service was also very efficient, especially when ordering food and drinks at the beach or pool—and the frozen mango margaritas were absolutely amazing!
We also appreciated that there were always enough chaise longues and umbrellas available.

Our rooms in phase 1 were so comfortable, well equipped, clean and centrally located. With the exception of a perpetually grumpy Luis in the am rotunda bar (maybe he should not work in customer service), all staff - and I mean all staff - were amazingly friendly, helpful and responsive.

We never felt too crowded at any of the facilities. Both Kinoko and Las Murales had impeccable service and the food was quite good. The buffet never failed to please with its variety and a different theme each night. Breakfast variety was plentiful. The food was always fresh and of high quality.

This was our first time there and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Royal Haciendas.

We just got home from a very nice week at the Royal Haciendas! The resort was even nicer than we expected. We had a suite room and it was perfect to have the separate room with 2 single beds for the 2 kids. The food was good and nobody got sick from any of the food which was great. There was a lot of staff always there to help with anything we needed. It was free to use life jackets, pool noodles, snorkeling gear etc. which was a nice touch. The resort isn't too big which was nice with young kids as you didn't have to walk too far to get anywhere. The only con is the ocean is blocked off by sand bags which were a bit of an eyesore. Overall we really loved this resort and would highly recommend it!

It was a great experience for My family. A resort that's makes total sense with younger kids. The week picked was great because it wasn't that full. We had lots of fun, shout out to the Kids Club and the staff, also to Cipriano a great security guard going above and beyond to help.
A small note, the beach is smaller than in the hotel area, that being said, it depends if your aim is less beach and more ocean/pool. The variety of food and quality is also great.

The family suite was a great room for a stay with children. The murphy beds were comfortable enough for the kids and the king bed was great for the parents. The staff were great, juan the server at Los Moreales was great offering the best service we experienced. Geo and Danna at the kids club became quick staples to the kids trip always offering some diverse activities when a break was needed from the pool and beach. The staff was always welcoming and never felt pushy or rude. They were genuinely interested in making our stay enjoyable. The food was great, especially the restaurants with reservations, the buffet was solid and themed every night... all around a fantastic resort. Highly recommend it, will be back!

I want to leave an honest constructive criticism of this property. There are tons of pros and a few cons but want to share our experience.

If you are looking for any type of beach vacation, this is not the resort for you. They have no beach whatsoever. The hurricane a few years ago wiped it out. They have a plan but no one seems to know a timeline. The beach to the north in front of other resorts is much better and is walkable. This is a property with a lot of pool time which works great for some.

The rooms were always clean and housekeeping was good, not great. We tipped $100 pesos every day for housekeeping and there was nothing special but just really clean. The pool and beach servers were always on the ball and friendly and never felt like we waited. The bartenders were very friendly both at the pool bars and the lobby bar. All around great staff. Special thanks to Saul at La Palapas for reading my mind and bringing me a plate of bacon. It was like magic. Also praise to Moises, Jesus, and last but not least the Kinoko host Francisco. The food was delicious at Las Murales steakhouse. I had the wagyu ribeye and it was the best steak I’ve ever had in Mexico and I’m from Alberta, the steak capital of the world. Kinoko Japanese was excellent especially the Teppanyaki experience with the chef. Omelettes were the breakfast peak and the bacon was always crispy. Lattes were good as well and was quick. Overall I’ve been to almost a couple dozen resorts over the years from 4 star to 4 diamonds and this one was pretty epic considering the property itself was older (2006 I think?) and the beach was no bueno. The cleanliness, staff and the food made up for the few shortcomings. Would come again.

We had a wonderful experience. It was unfortunate that beach was in the condition that it was. But the staff was awesome. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Buffet was mediocre but the restaurant, room service and pool restaurants were very good. Would recommend!

Room was outstanding, food was high quality and varied, and the staff were great. I enjoyed to low-key vibe, great service, and effort to provide a slightly upscale experience. My only issue was the terrible beach. It’s completely eroded and covered in seaweed. If you’re looking to spend time on the sand and in the ocean, look elsewhere. It’s a shame because otherwise this place was great.

The room was good and clean. The buffet restaurant where you had to eat breakfast everyday was awful and disgusting. The food was so bad we’d get a cab to town and eat at a restaurant.
The hostess and the manager at the steak and seafood restaurant were arrogant and ignorant and would never work with you to make a reservation. The answer was always “NO”
The teppanyaki sushi restaurant was quite good with great staff. The pizza restaurant was decent a the Mexican restaurant was wasn’t good at all.
They need to step up their food as of right now it was very mediocre at best.
Their computers and pay machines at the front desk won’t accept Canadian credit cards it debt cards and it’s an ongoing issue according to front desk staff but yet nothing gets done about it.
And the beach has been washed away compared to the pictures on their website.

Nice family resort. Just the right size not so big you can get lost but big enough to have lots of options. Friendly staff, clean well maintained very large rooms. Lots of activity options.
