I truly enjoyed my solo stay here for a couple days ocean view from the infinity pool is breathtaking! The room was beautiful the shower. Was amazing the aroma around the whole property smelled so good !! Enjoyed the full moon celebration they had one night with live music and they had a telescope for amazing views of the moon ! Everything was great expect not able to swim in the beach in front of hotel but if you went little further down you were able to. Food was okay Think it could have been better it is secluded so you really don’t have another option other then hotel food I did have a massage on property massage was amazing relax full it was done outside by Pedro he did a great job and I’ve had massages done all the time it’s hard to get a therapist that really knows what they are doing . Massage was expensive I think it’s the most expensive massage I’ve paid for to be honest . But overall came back to USA suggesting this hotel to all

It’s a beautiful resort but not a lot to do there. There was only one restaurant open when we were there (rooftop). The food is marvellous but very pricey. The staff were really friendly but there were operational issues with the way that food and utensils were provided. Rather than leave salt and pepper, napkins, hot sauce etc on the tables we had to ask for them each time. So they might bring salt but not pepper, or forget syrup for pancakes. I think serving staff needed more training and better overall systems. .

Let’s start with the pros. The front desk staff were friendly, fast, and very accommodating. Service overall was good, and room service was quick. The room is definitely a strong suit. We booked an ocean view room. You could see the ocean from the second floor, though the view was partial. The room was very spacious, with a separate restroom and a large walk in shower. There was also a mini fridge stocked with water, beer, and sodas, plus a safe for valuables. The bed was very comfortable. Room service prices were reasonable, we spent around $200, give or take, which felt fair.

The beachfront massage is highly recommended, and the pancakes were really good. The rooftop infinity pool has a beautiful ocean view, though it is not heated. WiFi was easy to use, no password needed, and strong in most areas, with only a few dead spots. The private beach area was peaceful and less crowded.

For improvements, most activity shuttles do not pick up at this hotel. If you are going to places like Xcaret, you will likely need a taxi. The hotel is somewhat hidden. The wings were not great, and rooftop service was slow due to limited staff. The hotel is quiet, with low noise after around 10 PM, ideal for relaxing.

Overall, we recommend it if you’re looking to stay away from the party crowd and enjoy a quieter atmosphere. Staff is friendly 100% of the time.

Astonishing breathtaking view of the ocean looking at Cozumel!
Super friendly and professional staff, from concierge to all restaurant staff, it felt personalized all along our stay!!
Great value for a boutique hotel!!
Food never lacked in quality but the only thing to improve is on consistency, when ordering the same dish a few times, it never tasted the same, alway good but different!
All in all thank you!, i would repeat no questions asked!

The hotel is small and very quiet.
The room is excellent - spacious, comfortable, with a great view from the big balcony.
The staff is very nice and helpful.

It is not possible to swim from the tiny hotel beach because of the rocks, but luckily it is possible to walk a little to the left and use another hotel's beach.

The location is not convenient. It costs $25 to take taxi to Playa del Carmen.

The food always looks great but not always tastes so good, and is pretty expensive.

Pros-The hotel is a small boutique hotel.It has a fantastic setting.The beach is beautiful and you are able to see the sunrise from the beach.the loungers are sufficient.The beach club and rooftop restaurant have a good selection of food.The staff specially Ann at reception were hardworking and friendly.The system of contacting them through WhatsApp works wonderfully and they get the job done immediately.they organised taxis etc and organised a wonderful New Year’s party.The decorations were wonderful for the party.The breakfast Hot cake was divine.The heated outdoor pool on beach and spa were excellent
Cons-
The access road to the hotel is bumpy with lots of potholes.
Apart from the hotels restaurant the only other food option is coco cabanas opposite to the hotel but walking there is a bit tricky specially after rain as you have to avoid potholes.The next option is to go to playa about 20-25 mins away.
The service is very slow in all restaurants.order food 1hr before you want to eat!!
The lights in the room are very dim and you can hardly see your face for makeup.
Rather than supplying multiple plastic water bottles in a day it would have been environmentally better to have fill up water stations on each floor .
A clothes drying line in the balcony would have been a great addition to dry the wet swim suits.
The organisation of the food service at the New Year’s party was very haphazard several people got the wrong entrees and some got main before entree.

Friendly staff, super clean, very big room however the definition of the ocean view is overrated as you can’t really see the ocean. Food is pretty good but very limited selection and the service is pretty slow. Very small beach with only two umbrellas. The hotel is super isolated so no way to walk anyway except a few hotels nearby. The hotels manager is super nice and very hands on.

We just got back from our trip to Mexico and stay at this beautiful place for six nights! all the pictures online look exactly the same in person. The staff goes above and beyond for their guest.( probably the best staff the way we were taken care of of any hotel we've ever stayed at) they truly want you to have an amazing experience. The rooftop bar/ pool was by far our favorite and if you go, please ask for Raul he's the best waiter we've ever had and will make you smile each time you see him

Absolutely obsessed with this place + special shout out to Ann, Rodrigo, and Julio!!!

We went here to celebrate my 30th birthday and my husband's 32nd birthday, and I am SO happy we chose this hotel for a milestone like this. We were previously considering all inclusives, but then thought a boutique hotel away from the nice might be a bit more special – and it was exactly that!!

There are SO many things we loved about this place, I'll list my highlights here:
- Amazing, friendly, and very willing to help staff + service
- The rooftop pool and views are just breathtakingly unreal
- That view accompanied with the delicious food + helpful service is truly unmatched!
- We were upgraded to a gorgeous premium oceanfront room from the deluxe oceanfront room – and it was SO worth it (we had a bathtub in our balcony) and precious quite views of the ocean from our room, which was unmatched to wake up to
- The aroma in the room that we could pick before hand was such a special touch of personalization – we miss it now that we're back!
- The reception staff was SO helpful and generous in helping me and my husband plan small surprises (decor, wine, cake, etc.) for each other – it truly made us feel special and well taken care of
- Yes, the property is secluded and its a bit of a rough drive to get in & out, but if peace and quite is what you're looking for – don't doubt this place for a second!!

We will definitely come back! Thank you thank you!

We absolutely enjoyed our time here. The room service is top quality. Every time we came back to the room it felt we clean like the first day we checked in. It’s such a comfortable room! We had a beautiful view and the put a little bed for our 7 year old son without even asking. The pool was so much fun to use, we were the only ones in there! The beach area has sea urchins but it was still enjoyable because my son liked to play on the sand. We rented a car and always had a parking spot when we arrived (even past midnight). Thank you so much for helping us celebrate our ten year anniversary. This is 100% child friendly boutique hotel. Sign the waiver and you can bring your chile to the rooftop, you just have to make sure to be by your child at all times as agreed on the waiver. Very pleasant 7 day vacation. There’s a taco spot a block from the hotel we really enjoyed.

We loved our stay and recommend a room with the ocean front view. Our room was beautiful, the amenities were fantastic and the service/staff was excellent. We enjoyed the private beach, their massage services and their roof top infinity pool. Our stay here definitely made our trip to Playa del Carmen worth while and would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area. We intend to visit again in the near future and we believe this will be our go to hotel going forward. 5 stars!

I recently had an amazing stay at the Mvngata Hotel. I stayed for about three weeks, and the staff went out of their way to make me feel at home.

The grounds are beautiful, peaceful, and directly on the beach. It was great to wake up and go to sleep to the sounds of the ocean. It honestly felt magical.

My first week there, they had a morning meditation series on the rooftop which was a great start to the day. The food and drinks were solid, with breakfast being my favorite. But it was the staff that made the experience exceptional.

From my booking, they reached out to learn of any specific requirements. They checked in regularly to ask if I needed anything and how they could make my stay better. They were friendly, professional, and very welcoming. They even upgraded my room when they learned I was celebrating a professional milestone.

I’m now a big fan, and this is one of my new favorite properties. A special thank you to Ann, Nicanor, Rodrigo, and Julio for taking exceptional care of me. I will certainly be back!

The hotel is fairly new and in excellent condition. The staff was also very helpful, friendly and professional. Our room was large and comfortable. If you're looking for a place to relax and just stay put, it may be a good option; however Mvngata is not walkable to anything, and it costs $40 roundtrip by taxi to reach Playa del Carmen (the closest town). The hotel has 2 restaurants, but only one seemed to be in operation. The food was good but the service was a bit inconsistent. There are almost no other restaurant options close by, as most other resorts in the area are all-inclusive. The beach is nice, but not really suited for swimming due to the rocky shoreline and sea urchins. The rooftop pool is attractive, but rather small, and it's very windy on the roof which again makes swimming uncomfortable.

Mvngata is a hidden gem! Far from the big resorts, this beautiful hotel is artfully designed and aesthetically decorated: everything is the finest quality, from the linens to the fixtures to the gorgeous views and the outstanding food. We were sorry to leave, and we plan to return! The pools are gorgeous, as is the beach, and the staff treated us like VIPs.

The room was amazing! The hotel was very quiet when we visited, which we did not mind at all. The rooftop restaurant and pool is amazing. The room service was great. All of the staff were very accommodating. The bridal suite room is worth every penny… having the hot tub outside on the balcony was the best part! I like how the hotel offered airport transportation, it made our first trip to Mexico feel very safe and secure. You can call the hotel ahead of your stay through WhatsApp, and they can arrange your airport transportation and they can also arrange any excursions that you want to do. It was a very peaceful trip.

A magic place to be....

The photos don't do this hotel justice. It's incredible, the rooftop pool is amazing. The staff treats guests like royalty. The beach is a cute small section , great for watching people stroll by.
Massage was so good, too!
Rooms are beautiful and the hammocks are so fun.
Close enough to several other resorts to take in their charms - bars, restaurants, vibes, as well.
One note: They sell Beach Club day passes, so children were in the ground level pool, as well as on the beach area.
Will definitely return!

The property is stunning, the room we stayed in was glorious, the staff were all kind, helpful and thoughtful. The food is not good and will agree with other people who say it is also very overpriced, due to the quality and the reason for 4 stars (food 1, everything else 5). There are night clubs nearby and even though it's not in the heart of Playa and it was very, very loud until they closed down. Would still highly recommend for the property itself - location out of the busy areas, beautiful rooms, gorgeous property, beach front, lovely rooftop and the great people who work here.

We ended up eating out for lunch and dinner for all 4 days. Having a rental car helped us to go out and explore, otherwise, it was a bit out from the main road.
We wanted a quiet and private time together so the place offered that.

We stayed just one night on the way to a festival at the Hard Rock and we’ll stay one more night on the other end of our trip. Wish we had a whole week here, and we’ll definitely be back. We would definitely stay here again.

A beautiful and VERY clean hotel. The shuttle driver from Cancun Shuttle had a difficult time finding it when we were dropped off as it was late at night. We were greeted by the professional and friendly Fernanda. During our stay, Fernanda made sure we were having and exceptional time at the hotel and even offered to have the restaurants make special meals for my girlfriend who has multiple food allergies. Julio was also very helpful with our stay and very friendly. The beach is perfect for lounging. Multiple chairs are set up along the beach with drink service. There are swimming beaches on both adjacent properties as the beach in front of the hotel has coral reef very close to shore. The rooftop restaurant has a beautiful view with an infinity pool. Taxis will be needed to get into Playa Del Carmen (10 minutes).

The rooms were very spacious, modern and exceptionally clean. I do think I'd opt to get and ocean front room next time though (no specific reason, the room we had was excellent). The TVs were Roku so we could Netflix and chill and night.

This beautiful hotel is definitely a great place to stay if you want a quiet and relaxing stay with out the hustle and bustle of Playa Del Carmen. No harassment from sales people, no booming bass music to be heard, awesome staff, and relaxing environment made the Mvngata Hotel a place we'd definitely stay again.

Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, on site restaurants are absolutely delicious. There were just a few things that I think they can improve on, one, beach towels are more like a yoga blanket, and you can’t swap them out at the beach/pool like at other hotels. Two, you cannot swim at the beach right in front of the hotel cause there are rocks and sea urchins- this should be more prominent when booking. Lastly the check in process is way too extensive and too much information is given at the same time, I would suggest that they invest in an app or put more info on their website so guests don’t have to sit through almost an hour of going over rules, a tour, etc and can explore on their own.

This was our first time in Mexico and we were looking for a lounging, beach experience. What we weren’t looking for was something I’ve seen depicted, or that I’ve heard about: the overstuffed “Sandals” type resort with all-inclusive cheap alcohol and boring food. We didn’t want it to feel like a time share we were visiting, or we were getting a cliche American experience in Mexico.

What Mvngata does well, it excels at. It is a small, boutique oasis with only 20 total rooms. A very sought after restaurant and environment, many people from other resorts will back the bottom floor with a day pass so they can get away from the bustle of their own resort. But as someone staying at the hotel, you get premium access to everything they have to offer. We were picked up at the airport with ease in a private SUV (35 minute drive that we enjoyed round trip). Our room was enormous with an ocean view, crisp and cool with the A/C along with a stocked mini bar and hammock on the balcony. Breakfast and lunch were absolutely delicious and the food was Mexican cuisine, but with high end flair. Beach access is wonderful, though to swim in the ocean you have to walk five minutes north or south to more sandy areas (a non issue). But having said that, I would recommend the rooftop - my wife and I lounged by the pool for the extent of our visit as it looks out on the water. Small but cozy hotel, friendly and helpful staff. The food is amazing , price is fair according to the area , roof top pool and dinning area is gorgeous.
The only down side is the beach in front of hotel is not accessible due to too many reefs.

Beautiful little new boutique hotel just outside of Playa. Rooms are very nicely appointed and very large. Rooftop pool and restaurant were wonderful, food was always delicious, fresh. We neeeded a last-minute place for two nights, and we randomly chose this place…and we are so glad we did. Would highly recommend.

Pros and cons. Recent stay

Kin was nice and helpful. Staff at rooftop restaurant seemed annoyed and inconvenienced. Didn’t bring basics unless asked just stood around gossiping. It was uncomfortable. Beautiful shower but water smelled like bleach! ESP the sink. Stayed on your skin for hours. Ended up using bottled water in the room to wash hands& brush teeth. Room does fog up and gets wet everywhere. Floors become slippery. Some positives-the room was big & looked nice. The view was just incredible (pitch black at night though)- we also got to see monkeys from our balcony which was super cool. They mentioned animals may approach. We were good with that. if it wasn’t for how bad the water smelled I probably wouldn’t even leave a review but my fiancé and I both felt that was something to share.

We spent our last night in Mexico at the Mvngata Beach Club before an early afternoon flight home the next day - so didn’t really have time to enjoy all it has to offer - but everything is top notch , the room is stunning , the staff attentive , just wonderful all the way .
Only minor downside is the beach in front of the hotel isn’t swimmable - too many rocks and urchins - It there is decent swimming just a few minutes along the beach
Would love to stay again

Mvngata was incredible! The rooms look exactly like the photos which is rare. The staff was so accommodating, going above and beyond whenever we needed anything. The food was great and the waitstaff knew us two days into our stay. My kids loved them and e front desk staff, Claudia, Fernanda and Kin were spectacular. The pools are smaller than they seem but spent all of our time at the beach so we didn’t care. We will DEFINITELY return!

My husband and I stayed in Mvngata for 4 nights. We upgraded our room to an oceanfront one on the third floor, and it was a spectacular view to enjoy every day. The food on the roof top restaurant was terrific - tacos are the best I have ever had. The beach in nice and clean, but has rocks.

Beautiful spacious beach-front rooms - except that there was no privacy on the balconies. This was awkward - especially with the “romantic” bathtubs on some. I mostly didn’t feel comfortable using my balcony if the couples next door were using theirs as it felt like an invasion of their privacy. Weird that they wouldn’t just have a better divider between the balconies.

Overall it’s a lovely quiet boutique hotel but very pricey - as is almost everything in Playa del Carmen. With no transportation at all it felt particularly pricey to get to town to shop or walk around (about $50 Cad). The rooftop restaurant does have some live music but it all shuts down at 9pm and so it is very quiet in the evenings unless you leave the property and this requires driving or a taxi to town.

The food was hit or miss. Some really excellent dishes and a few not so much.

For the high price it was disappointing, staff were very nice but service was slow, even by Mexican standards. Hour and half to get a burger and fries. Food was not good. Very little to do, the beach is tiny and covered in seaweed

This hotel is beautiful! Beds are comfortable and the rooms, views, and roof top pool are extraordinary. I loved the feel of the property and it provides a very personalized experience. I traveled alone from Seattle and even though I was alone (my bf broke up with me three days before this trip we were supposed to be on together), but I had the whole team at Mvngata (pronounced moon-gata) to help me heal from a devastating breakup. They loved on me and made me feel safe and full of joy. This hotel and experience really helped me to heal and move forward and I will forever hold this place in my heart. It was one of the best hotel experiences thanks to the people and the beauty of the Riviera. EK is so kind and I’m just so fond of him. Jorge really cares and took great care of me. Patrick gave me the best massage under the stars and he has a beautiful, healing touch. Zefi was always there to bring me another beer and we became friends! Alex made activity arrangements for me and each day I wanted to do something, he planned it out perfectly! Antonio (lifeguard) always reminded me to not be said for too long. Maurice brought me coffee and breaky every morning and I looked forward to his warm hugs when I came down. And Kin is just a very special person who helped me with anything I needed (along with EK). I was genuinely sad when I had to leave but this team and this hotel have given me the gift of warmth, love and compassion. I love you all at Mvngata and I’ll be back soon.

We LOVED our stay at the Mvngata!! The Hotel, facilities, and rooms are absolutely gorgeous, the staff goes above and beyond with hospitality and concierge services, and the food was impeccable. We loved the two pool options (rooftop for adult only and a shaded heated pool for everyone right on the beach).

Can’t recommend this place enough! Hope to stay again!
