The room was clean, however, the slide door to the fridge was miss aligned and was almost impossible to open.

The shower rack was loose and everything almost fall apart.

Worst thing happened on the last night, 3 people including my son started to have diarrhea and vomiting issue and my son is still on feaver, the common food they had was the ice cream.

The place was beautiful, with many yummy restaurants and decent drinks. Food was awesome, but breakfast was okay. Housekeeping was amazing and so sweet, adding cute touches to the room. The bartenders could have been kinder, but most of the staff was very friendly. Awesome place and would come back!

Overall, it was a nice resort. Food was good, but not great. There was usually a good variety at the buffet, but that was hit and miss depending on the time.

The ladies in the coffee shop were friendly, so we visited everyday.

We didn't get to experience the beach as there were mounds of seaweed everyday.

A few staff were pleasant but it seemed like others couldn't be bothered, not even a smile.

The rooms are slightly aged and it showed. The room jacuzzi tub is pointless as it would take a year to fill. There is a lot of upsale on sight including in the restaurants. The stake house was not great pumped the air with liquid smoke smell and everything on the menu had liquid smoke on it. The Mexican and Italian Restaurant was okay.

I loved it here, it was clean the food was great. The staff worked so hard to keep the beach as clean as possible.
The only thing that made me sad was the cats on the property, I came across six of them in total a few of them in some desperate need of vet care, and one of them pregnant. I know they probably treat them as wild animals there but that’s a very tough place for a domesticated cat to live. The staff seemed to frown on anybody that was trying to feed them and they’re all so hungry.

This was my first all-inclusive stay so I don’t have anything to compare it to, but it was a great time there

Hotel is great and staff was amazing (most of them!). We have access to a private pool and that was amazing. However, the noise/music from the pool was loud and people “reserving sun beds” was really annoying. Food was a bit repetitive for a 5* but generally good. Great to have free parking. Theatre for the shows was good and there were events organised each night.

Our stay was great at this resort. There are multiple choices of cuisines and restaurants, but the reservation only restaurants would require bookings and they would take bookings only on the day you would like to book which is not ideal and you can end up in a long queue to reserve in your favorite restaurants.
Pools were huge, beautiful and clean. Each building have a separate pool which was designed based on whether it's having kids or an adult. Only building the water park was also great. Most of the pools have swim up bars with variety of drinks. The staff was very friendly and cooperative. However, during busy season the wait times are longer and everything takes much longer. For example, check-in might be 30 to 45 minutes. This is very family friendly pool. The best thing is their main square is having one thing or the other every night. There are a lot of good bands which we enjoyed during our stay and there is a lot of activities for kids. They have bouncy castles, mini golf, face paint, karaoke, kids ride. Pop up snack bars and markets every night.

The shows at the theaters are also great.

One downside is the buffet menu is more or less same especially for breakfast lunch. They have special nights for dinners.

Biggest bummer is the beach. It's a very small, rocky, not like a beach you would would expect in Tulum or Cancun. Or a five-star beach resort.

Excellent stay: The size of the property and ease of navigating from the lobby to the beach, and all in between, is a breeze. The rooms spacious, well appointed and very comfortable. Great beds, very clean and extremely attentive staff. The \"Privilege\" upgrade is highly recommended. It makes the trip so much easier from check in, to reservations, to getting chairs at the Privilege and El Beso pools. It also provides access to an additional restaurant that had great appetizers and the best margarita on the property. If you are lucky enough to get Rosas as your butler, well, your trip just went to 5 stars. She is the most attentive, fun and kindness woman you will meet and has the best laugh ever. With a little instruction, she planned out the week with reservations.
The pools are great. We just used the Privilege , El Beso and typically ended up at the one by the beach. It was nice to be able to move around to various \"vibes\" each offered. The beach area is small but plenty of places to relax. Nice to have a restaurant on the beach too. My only complaint is the meat. Steakhouse and burgers were not great meat quality. The coupon dinners were fine. The rest of the food was pretty good. Not a lot of great salad options but everything else good. The staff made the trip so enjoyable. Every single staff was kind, warm and helpful. A relaxing space with fun evening events and bowling. One of the more enjoyable places we have stayed...and we have been to a lot of them!

The property was filled with nature. We loved seeing the monkeys, coatis, and iquanas in their natural habitats. Rooms were ample with space, but need some renovations. It was frustrating waiting in a line each morning to reserve some of the restaurants. This could have been streamlined. Service at the bars was extremely slow as there weren't enough employees to handle the crowds. Ocean and pool nearest the ocean were our favorites. Massages off property were amazing and affordable. Resort is nice for families.

It was OK. Lack of engagement, evening entertainment, and activities team which would have encouraged guests to better socialize and enjoy their time away. (Compared to many past stays at other resorts like RIU.) Pools are fine but somewhat dated and would benefit from resurfacing.
Service staff in restaurants appeared to simply be putting in their time. They would hear you but not listen to you often resulting in wrong orders being served. (Not a language barrier - simply rushing and not hearing.) Made us feel many did not actually enjoy their employment at this resort.

Overall this is a nice resort. We stayed in early March during prime time. That being said here are the pros and cons:

Pros
- overall it is a nice resort with various things to do and pools to lounge around
- staff were friendly and worked hard to make our stay pleasant
- the food was good, and they had a good selection of drinks with name brands
- bar service was usually pretty quick and there were bars and snack places at each pool
- we mostly ate at the à la carts and enjoyed the food
- we discovered late that the resort app offered free room service (between certain hours) called Ocean Eats, which offered fast food style lunch and snacks, it was great for us because we had a swim up room and had lunch by the pool
- the rooms were large, beds comfortable, and were cleaned daily with the usual towel sculpture

Cons
- we’ve stayed at other Mexican 5-stars and, in comparison, this would be a 4.5-star
- the buffet is small and poorly laid out leading to long lines at the egg stations and for buffet items
- the buffet lacked the fresh items we’ve had at other resorts
- we had issues getting longe chairs around the pools which is unusual for 5-star resorts
- the resort uses towel cards with penalty for lost cards
- the resort is long and thin and offers shuttles, these were inconsistent and we often just walked (our mother who has some mobility issues)
- too many signs for expensive upsells
- had to reserve à la carts which weren’t always open
- lots of waiting

Terrible SPA Experience: Deceptive Bait-and-Switch!
My wife and I had a gift certificate for \"1 Hour Hydrotherapy.\" We booked with a male receptionist, but the next day, a female receptionist gave us an unrequested 20-minute massage instead. When I complained, they finally let us into the hydrotherapy area.
The real scam happened when we left. The male receptionist reappeared and aggressively demanded $120 per person for the 20-minute massage we never asked for! I refused this bait-and-switch and demanded to see a supervisor. He pretended to call one, but luckily, I found the actual manager working nearby. After explaining their deceptive upselling tactics, the manager let us leave without paying. Avoid this SPA if you don't want to be scammed!

Lowest level of service I’ve ever received at a resort. Every venue (bars, restaurants and coffee shop) had long lines and minimum staff.

Timeshare type presentations was 4 hrs of our day when promised it was only an hour. Offered lots of gifts for taking part and then only received a fraction of them. When I asked what happened was ignored and fed lies

I will never be back and wouldn’t recommend this or any H10 properties

Good sized room. Decent restaurant choice. The hotel is looking a little tired. Excellent staff. The biggest issue is the towels on sunbeds without people using them. We experienced unused sunbeds with “reserved towels” for 4 hours. The hotel doesn’t enforce its rules which can lead to guest confrontations.

Loved the restaurant selection here. Never really a problem to find a place to eat every night that’s not the buffet. Drinks selection was unlimited and they even set up extra margarita stands every night. Loved the abundance of wildlife. So fun to watch the monkeys every morning, the coatis every day and the kitties by night.

It’s a nice hotel, large kind of like a small town to itself. Most of the staff are very friendly. We had some issues at check in as they downgraded two of our three rooms, as a result of over booking. They still have not credited us back for the difference. I’m hoping they do obviously. The privilege upgrade was worth it. The Butler we had, Allen was excellent. overall, I recommend this hotel. once the winds died down, the beach was beautiful and they kept it clean. The ocean front rooms are large suites with a really nice view.

This was the perfect resort. So many activities for all age levels. Kids had so much to do and so many pools to choose from. Food was fantastic and always available from the restaurants to the buffet to the coffee shop and little lunch places throughout the resort. I would suggest getting the privileged level access as it opens up one to two more pools depending on age (there is one adult only pool) and also gives preference for booking the restaurants. The beach was also fantastic and clean and no one harassing you to buy anything. They do have people out on the beach to offer pictures, massage, braids etc but they don’t continue to ask if you say no. Service was fantastic. Every staff member we encountered was so helpful and friendly. Would definitely return to this specific resort as well as consider the hotel brand in new places as well.

“5-Star Fraud” – Ocean Riviera Paradise

⭐ 1/5 – 5-STAR FRAUD

This hotel is a complete scam. It’s advertised as a 5-star resort, but the reality is far from it.

Severely understaffed, slow and disorganized service, and poor customer attention. The food is very low quality, with limited options and endless lines for everything, even the buffet. Several times we couldn’t even get into the restaurants.

The beach is full of rocks and seaweed, not what you expect in Cancun.

You pay for luxury and get chaos instead.
Do not recommend at all. There are much better options for the same price.

Este hotel es un engaño total. Lo venden como 5 estrellas, pero la realidad es completamente diferente.

Falta de personal en todas las áreas, servicio lento, desorganizado y con muy mala atención. La comida es de pésima calidad, con muy pocas opciones y colas interminables para todo, incluso para el buffet. En varias ocasiones ni siquiera pudimos entrar a los restaurantes.

La playa está llena de rocas y algas, nada que ver con lo que uno espera en Cancún.

Pagas por lujo y recibes una experiencia caótica.
No lo recomiendo para nada. Hay opciones mucho mejores por el mismo precio.

Everything about this resort was lovely. The staff, the room, the critters running around. My one caveat, and this would probably dissuade me from returning, is the loud music blaring from 8am on. The beach pool was much nicer because it was way quieter so you just heard the sounds of people having fun. But, it would be nice to enjoy the pool right outside our room.
The buffet food was generally good but we were unable to get a reservation for any of the specialty restaurants. Our visit to the beach restaurant was aborted when, after waiting in line, we were told they couldn't put 2 tables together for our party of 7 because of reservations by the Privilege Club members. Not a good look.

Our overall stay was good as we did not go with high expectations. Even though it is a 5 star hotel, it does not feel luxurious. They had a lot of entertainment options which was good, however, most of the entertainment areas such as the Game room and Bowling did not open until 2 or 4pm in the afternoon. Given the number of rooms and guests they have the bowling option was only available from 4pm to 11pm and if you try to go there after 10pm they straight away refuse to accommodate you. Out of our 5 days stay at the hotel we got to experience bowling only once and were refused twice saying they are full. Even though out of 4 or 5 lanes they had they were operating only 2 lanes and the staff there said it was reserved for a family. On the other hand when I asked to reserve for next day they told me its 1st come 1st serve. So I was being told 2 different things. The check in experience wasn't great either, we interacted with Manuel for our check in and he didn't seem welcoming at all. He was kind of irritated too when I asked to repeat an information. All other front desk staff were okay except for Manuel who didn't seem to be interested to help or provide information when asked. Another rude staff was Ismayil at Route 66 restaurant who looked as if he didn't want guests to come in. I am not sure if their staff are way underpaid but they didn't seem to be smiling or happy to help. Having said that, the staff at Mikes coffee place were the only ones who would smile & greet.

Our stay at the Ocean Riviera Paradise was great! The resort itself was well maintained, and I liked the feel and set up of the place. The staff was great, and the dining experiences were good. I would say what made our trip exceptional was our butler Alan! He definitely went above and beyond! Any requests that we had he took care of, and always just checking in to make sure we were always ok. That was greatly appreciated so definitely special shout out to Alan!

The pool was nice and clean, however the floor of it was very rough and my feet were raw after a couple days of being in it. 2nd the pool chairs were snatched up by 6:30AM. If want a pool chair you have to put something on them, claiming them, early on. The arcade was not free and was expensive. The pool table was $3 per play as well. Overall a fantastic resort.

Overall, the stay was decent, but the property is neither high-end nor particularly well managed. There were multiple instances where we couldn’t reach anyone at reception, bell service, or room service for hours. On some Sundays, housekeeping didn’t service the room unless we specifically requested it.

Our luggage was also significantly delayed—what was promised in 20 minutes took nearly five hours to arrive. The resort itself feels outdated, though it does offer good entertainment for kids, especially the waterpark and playground areas.

The property is quite large, so getting around often requires golf cart transportation, which can involve long wait times.

Another downside was the constant sales pressure. Staff repeatedly encouraged us not to book through platforms like Expedia or other travel agencies, claiming we could save thousands by booking directly with them. In our experience, these felt like misleading sales tactics with unrealistic promises, which was frustrating.

In summary, I would consider this place only if it fits your budget or if you specifically want to stay at this resort. Otherwise, there are better options available. The food was below average in both quality and variety—I would rate it 2 out of 5 stars.

This is an incredible resort for kids. So many fun things for them to do. We booked solely for the water park and my kids played on it for 20 minutes the first day then didn’t touch it again. The slides are slow so it’s more work than it’s worth for them. We didn’t do the kids club, but the kids club staff have an event for kids in the main square everyday. Mom & 17yo teen thoroughly enjoyed our one-week stay at ORP. Standard junior suite room w/ garden view.

Pros: attentive & friendly staff (kudos to Aylin from Guest Services and William from entertainment), attractive & well maintained property; variety of food & pool options; stylish & spacious rooms; kid-friendly activities, facilities, & entertainment.

Cons: bathroom mold in otherwise visibly clean rooms; mixed food quality; lack of activities/entertainment for adults.

The positives at this beautiful resort far outweigh the few negatives. Good pick for travelers focused on comfort, relaxation, & value for the price. Great place to stay with young children, as even the basic junior suite is spacious. Adjacent sitting room area has a couch and desk. The garden view was attractive with lush greenery. Felt very private. Decor is stylish and bright. In general the room was well cleaned. However, I was dismayed that from the jetted tub (itself a major plus) there was a direct view of under the bathroom sink, showing about 4-6 inches of wall space which was covered in black mold across the length of the counter bottom. I would never have noticed this except from that vantage using the tub. Granted, it's a humid environment, so not hard to understand how this happens quickly but hopefully the hotel will take extra steps to check for this.

My teen daughter and I were looking for a restful experience, which ORP definitely provided. Top notch, friendly service.

We had a lovely stay overall. The food was great and there were plenty of amenities to enjoy. The ice cream shop and coffee shop were definitely highlights — both were excellent and something we looked forward to every day.

That said, the rooms did not meet our expectations. The bed was making broken, creaking noises, and the fan didn’t feel safe to turn on. The bathroom was quite old, and the shower area was very slippery, which made it unsafe, especially with kids.

With some updates to the rooms, this place could be amazing, but for now it was a mix of great common areas and disappointing accommodations

Families with young children would definitely love this hotel for the pool and park area. We were there during March Break so it was very busy. We had to sit on our towels on the beach on our first day as there was no available chairs. Other people were in the same situation. The pool at the beach was great especially because they did not play music at this pool. Overall, the restaurants were good and we enjoyed the food. I did not like that you have to line up early in the morning to book one of the hotels. Two other restaurants coudl be booked via the app. I could not get the app to work on my phone but my husband managed to get the app working. Also, we usually had to wait for a table at the restaurant near the beach. There are some rocky areas at the beach but you can still get in the ocean and swim. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Overall, we were happy with our stay but the hotel and staff could make some simple changes to offer better service to its guests.

The room was beautiful and spacious. Hot tub only had Luke warm water coming out. Large tub in first floor bathroom was a bit dirty. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Hello,

I wanted to take a moment to provide feedback regarding my recent stay at your resort.

My family and I have been traveling to Cancun and Playa del Carmen for over 25 years, and this was our first time staying at your property. Unfortunately, our experience did not meet expectations due to several issues during our visit.

To begin with, we reported the lack of hot water in our room on three separate occasions, and the issue was never resolved during our stay. This was extremely disappointing.

Additionally, one evening, two couples traveling with us experienced a serious issue accessing their room in the El Beso section. They contacted me for assistance, and I attempted to reach the front desk multiple times, but no one answered the phone. As a result, they were forced to walk all the way to the front desk late at night to resolve the issue, which is unacceptable for a resort of this standard.

We were also disappointed with the dining experience. The food at both the steakhouse and the Italian restaurant did not meet expectations, and the liquor selection was very limited.

Needless to say, all six of us in our group were very disappointed. It is unfortunate that what should have been a memorable and enjoyable trip turned into a frustrating experience.

Based on this visit, we will not be returning or recommending this resort to others.

The room was always very clean and smelled very good. Pools were cleaned, but many people hold their seats with towels, so get out there early, or you will have no seats. Mainly in building 1 and the adult pool. On the last day, they got strict and started removing people's stuff from chairs that were used for 1/2 hour or more.

My husband and I stayed from March 15-20th.

We were greeted by Manuel upon check in and helped us to upgrade to El Beso. Our luggage was stored as we arrived before lunch and check in was at 3pm (which we anticipated). He also helped us make a dinner reservation for that evening.

We were able to relax by the pool and have lunch while we waited for our room to be ready. Once we got to our room, it was very clean and quite spacious. Our luggage was delivered very quickly with a smile. Our dinner reservation was booked for later in the evening, so we ordered room service on the app. It was easy to order and the food came a lot faster than we expected.

We ate at La Locanda (shoutout to servers Mario and Jose for great service!) that night and it was delicious. We also ate dinner at Blue Moon, Margarita (shout out to Michael for great service) and the Steak House (shoutout to Wilbert for great service!) and were happy with all of our meals. The buffet at breakfast and lunch were great options. We always found something we enjoyed. With our El Beso upgrade, we were able to have breakfast at Margarita and enjoyed that a couple of mornings. We ate lunches at Pez Vela (beach restaurant), La Petite Creperie and El Beso Snack and enjoyed all of our meals.

We spent most of our days poolside. Shoutout to Lizbeth for keeping our drinks full and to William and Andres on the entertainment team for all the fun and for having games we could play from our chairs! An overall great time!!

From the Location to the commons areas this is a 5star hotel, staff, food, amenities, cleanliness, restaurants, the beach, kids water park…. Everything was amazing fabulous and I can continue for 2 pages about how everything is perfect in this resort…Thank you All the staff and people that contributed to make this vacations into memorable time. This resort is very modern and Americanized, didn’t feel authentic Mexican. Beautifully designed with really great food. The buffet was amazing always had something new to discover. Did not like the wait times to get into the buffet or the order coffee from there little on site coffee shop. It was impossible to just go somewhere and help yourself to morning coffee. You had to wait to be sat then wait for the waiter to come over to your table (at the buffet) the train brings you around which helps since the resort is so big: the beach side pool is very sleek. Staff friendly. The gym is beautiful and nice tennis courts. Nightly live musicians were talented. I loved the smell in the lobby.

This resort was clean, safe, quiet and easy to find your way around which was nice traveling with kids. There were a few pools to pick from and we were always able to find a chair on the deck. For people who complained about the beach, yes it is small but it was well kept by the staff and my kids enjoyed it. My only complaint was there could have been more staff working in the restaurants as there was often long wait times for things. The buffet staff were incredibly busy and constantly moving and as such we made if halfway through breakfast without water or coffee. This was not a fault to the staff as they were doing the best they can, this also lead to long wait times for food/service at the restaurants as well.
We would definitely come back.

This resort was great for kids, we had 3 kids in our group, 6-7-9 and they got bored of the water park pretty quick, it is geared toward young children. Food was good, beachside pool was great, the ocean is pretty rocky to swim in. Drink and service was great. I would recommend it.

Overall, Ocean Riviera Paradise is a beautiful resort with strong amenities. The beach, pools, and restaurants were enjoyable, and my son had an amazing time, he made friends and truly enjoyed the experience.

Unfortunately, there were some major inconsistencies in service. Our original room was next to active construction, and the paint smell was overwhelming. After we raised the concern, we were moved to a one-bedroom suite in the Privilege section, which was much better.

However, despite being placed in that section, we were not given access to Privilege amenities because we had green wristbands instead of black. This caused repeated issues, we were denied entry to certain restaurants, could not access services in that area, and were even turned away when trying to get towels at the Privilege pool.

What was most concerning was that staff repeatedly pointed out that we “booked through Expedia,” and it felt like that came with a lower level of service. The overall experience made us feel singled out and unwelcome at times.

As a parent, it was especially disappointing to have my child notice and question why we were being treated differently.

The resort has great potential, but better coordination and consistent guest service are needed.

We stayed in a swim up poolside room. That was the way to go for us. The main pools are fun, but busy! There is a privilege section that we did not have access to, but we didn’t need it with the swim up room access. The buffet was the best food in my opinion, but the Italian was a close second. I would encourage people to learn to use the app they download for you right away, it’s a bit of a system. We would stay here again and we have recommended it to one family who booked already. Very kid friendly.
