Rooms were very nice with beautiful balcony. Lots of wildlife. The entertainment team was great. Pools were great too, quiet pool for relaxing and party pool for entertainment. Viridiana from the entertainment team was just the best. She made the trip so much more fun and special. Big shout out to her. Also Edith our server in the lobby and courtyard was wonderful as well! We really felt special. Highly recommend this resort

It’s a lovely resort but if you are a beach (and not a pool) person, I would not recommend this resort. The beach area is very small and had a very limited number of lounges and umbrellas, and by 6am, all sun beds on the beach are taken.

Property and staff were very pleasant food was very good. Room was clean and fresh. Ocean sea weed is a bit of an issue. Travel from airport to resort was not a good experience. Paid extra for private service that was to be there at arrival. Ha a 40 minute wait and had to share ride with three other people with stops at their resort. Ride back to airport on departure was good though.

It was really nice aesthetically - quite busy but in a good way, mostly older adults however. Only thing is it’s hard to find chairs available as people leave their towels to claim pool or beach chairs for hours while they are away making it difficult to find a spot. The beach also had crazy seaweed and they made us sign a waiver acknowledging that since the beach was basically unusable!
Otherwise great time and clean, well kept resort!

Cleaning staff were great. They offer massages on the beach, did not partake. The interior spa was alright. Not bad, but not 5 star. 2 \"hot\" tubs, one was intentionally cold. Massage therapist was very good. Had a butler (Juan) and he was fantastic, very attentive. Pool bar was good (Miguel) and very friendly. Entertainment staff was awesome (Moises). They need to turn up the music at the pool bar area. If you want \"quiet\" there are two other pools for you to use.

They badger you for “upgrading” services from trying to trick you into going to sister property to give you spa services to then be asked if you want spa services we counted over four days 16 times. Also the circle the pool trying to sell you adventures. So if you want terrible food and to be sold every 4 minutes then this is for you.

Room was very clean. Staff were excellent, very helpful and courteous. Food at all the restaurants was very good and service was good. Activities by the pool and night time shows were great. The only criticism I have would be is that this was the only resort that we have been to in the last 10 years was that Superbowl was an extra charge. All other resorts I have been too have a Superbowl party for all guests with tv and buffet. Upgrades are available understandably but party for all guests. Check in was fast and always there if any questions.

The grounds, beach, pool areas were all lovely, very clean and manicure. All of the staff at the hotel (from the customer relations, housekeeping, waiters & grounds staff to the recreational folks) ALL were excellent, friendly and courteous. We felt that all of the specialty restaurants, including the buffet, and the open early to open late coffee shop in the lobby. We’re all very good. Each one had a different atmosphere and location on the property so we didn’t feel the need to go looking elsewhere for food the entire week.

Room was fine. We booked an Ocean view room which didn’t really have the view … not worth it. It was also very noisy with workmen keeping the gardens tidy and their machines from about 7am!
Masses of food choice but surprisingly bland but only in the main restaurant.
Staff were great. Not enough subbed as others have commented. They need a system operated in parts of Europe - not on your bed for at least 30 mins, and the towels get removed. Good stay but next Mexico trip we’ll try the west coast.

Staff was very friendly, food was amazing, facilities were pristine and spectacularly maintained, and rooms were big, comfortable and well equipped. It is much better to rent a car to get to this location and be able to visit nearby attractions such as cenotes, Xcaret, Cancun itself, etc. Only negative side is that the “all inclusive” does not actually include water activities such as kayaks, scuba diving, jet skis, etc. they all have additional prices, even those that were supposed to be included such as kayaks, have some tourist taxes. The additional price was mentioned during the booking process (for jet skis), though. By far the best restaurants were the French and the Italian, truly spectacular food and service. The cafe near the lobby was also really good, with very tasty options and excellent service. The beach was pretty small but very well maintained and clean, despite sargassum, it was frequently removed. The pool was also very nice, with an open bar next to it, as well as a pizza station. Overall, a spectacular experience, would definitely come back!

Room was dated. We did not get the room we thought we had reserved. Hardly anyone in our group did either and other guests we met did not either. Privilege package is not worth it.. If you are a smoker, you will not be happy. You cannot even smoke on the beach! Beach access is limited and privilege section is limited. The bell hops that greet you at the door raised the taxi cost that we had already been quoted so much so that we had to cancel our entire day of plans because of them. Food was good, pool was chilly but nice, jose at the towel stand was the best. The bartenders were good too.

We had such a good time at this resort. From the minute we showed up, everyone was super friendly and helpful. Check‑in was quick, and we were at the pool with a drink in our hands before we knew it.
The room was clean and comfy—nothing to complain about. Housekeeping kept everything tidy, and we always had fresh towels, which was awesome after long days in the sun.
The food was solid. Tons of options, and we never went hungry. The buffets had a bit of everything, and the à la carte restaurants were a nice change when we wanted something different. Drinks were great too—bartenders knew what they were doing and kept the good vibes going.
There was always something to do: pool games, beach time, nightly entertainment, or just chilling. You could be as active or lazy as you wanted, which we loved.
The whole place was clean and well taken care of. The pools were great, the beach was beautiful, and the grounds were always spotless.
Overall, we had an amazing, no‑stress vacation. Great staff, good food, lots to do, and a super relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely come back.

My girlfriend and I stayed at this resort for seven days and, it was absolutely stunning. It went above both our expectations. The staff was extremely friendly they would always greet you or ask if you needed anything brought to your room (towels, fresh sheets, water bottles etc) the restaurant on the resort were all fantastic. The rooms were always very clean and smelled fresh, the staff was always managing the beach area and removing any seaweed that washed up. The resort itself was very clean and welcoming we highly recommend this resort and we’ve already booked our next stay with them. If you are looking for a fantastic resort this is the place, from the view to the food and the staff I couldn’t recommend this place more.

They charged us for 5 and mentioned that reservations department will refund the balance once they talk to Expedia. Expedia mentioned to us that they refuse to refund the balance because of their policy.. the whole system seems designed to screw the guest as much as possible without them finding out..

The grounds were beautiful and very well maintained. The room was clean and had a nice large balcony. All of the food was excellent, and the staff were very friendly. This was likely due to our rooms proximity to the main building, but very loud music played past midnight every night making it difficult to sleep. Staff: Amazing! Viri from daily activities, amazing. Antonio from pool bar, amazing! Would be nice to have a better nightly entertainment.
Pool: would be nice to have a hot tub.
It was a great experience overall!! I have no regrets booking this place.

Although you may want to reconsider the free tours you offer your guests. We were forgotten, claiming the driver had a minor accident. Although when we complained to the driver of another group, miraculously our pick up was just 5 minutes away. We waited for more than an hour for our ride back to the hotel.

We spent 10 days there & didn’t really know what to expect but we were very happy just after one day there. What made our vacation so special is the entertainment team the way they go out of their way to make sure you’re participating with all the events, a very special thank you to Gustavo my brother we became best friends after the first day much love to everyone Victor,Maryanne,Sussi,the hotel is taking care of by the staff altogether & the food at this resort is really good & always fresh. I stayed at Maya Royale Dec 30 - Jan 5. I have a great experience and would go back and recommend it to anyone without issues. I had some reservations prior to going there, however, I was pleasantly surprised. The buffet was great, good diversity and each day had a different theme so you didn't eat the same thing every day. The NYE dinner at the buffet (you have the option to pay and have a fixed menu at one of the restaurants) was impressive: lobster tail, pecking duck, crab legs, foie-gras ... kudos to the chef (and pastry chef). Drinks were good (not watered down) and staff friendly. We went to the French restaurant and the food was amazing (especially the short rib). Overall, it was a great experience.

Pros:
- good food (and variety) / drinks - compliments to the chefs/pastry chefs
- friendly and helpful staff
- activities throughout the day
- clean property / pool

Cons:
- water (beach) is not cleaned from seaweed (fortunately was not too bad)
- NYE show - the first part was too long with some variety shows that dragged on too long. Just make those much shorter so people can get up and dance. ½ hour prior to new year of dancing is not enough; and can get chilly at night so seating for 2+ hours is not good.

The room was beautiful, large and comfortable. The house keeping lady was great. She offered room service daily, but respected that we didn’t want it daily and found Qtips for us.
The food and restaurant staff were fantastic everywhere we went. While it was totally sold out & smaller than other hotels we’d been to, there was always space at the beach and in all restaurants and at amenities.
The beaches were beautiful and always had people cleaning the seaweed.
If you are looking for a party place or lots of adventures and things to do, this place may not be for you.
We had a fantastic restful stay with great quality food and yummy drinks which was exactly what we needed. Thank you,

The room was a little outdated but that didnt bother us since we mostly spent time outside on the beach or doing activities. Ocean Maya Royale has a great sandy beach without any rocks so that was great. There are plenty of activities to do (tequila tasting, wine tasting, bracelet making, games in the pool, coffee making, karaoke in the evening, guessing songs trivia and more). Huge shout out to hard working staff Viri, Gustavo, Pillar, Augustin at Mike's coffee place. Highly recommend coffee at Mike's coffee. Watch out for mosquitoes at open restaurants in the evening like Dolce Vita and El Charro. Otherwise, great stay and great staff. Thank you everyone that made our vacation great.

I had an amazing stay at Ocean Maya Royale! From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel welcomed and taken care of. The resort is beautiful, clean, and well maintained, with a relaxing adults-only atmosphere that made it the perfect getaway.

The experience team is honestly what made my week at this resort so memorable! Everyone was so nice and fun, and they made sure to remember your name and check in. Especially Kendell, He was the life of the party and so kind! Viri was another staff member I became close to, she was so sweet! Alejandro, Victor, Gustavo, Marian, Susi, and Moises were also very helpful and social with the visitors, making sure everything was okay and would encourage you to participate in fun activities! The whole team did good at communicating with everyone, encouraging participation while becoming your friend.

This was my first time at this resort, and I would return! The resort is smaller than my usual go tos, but I enjoyed everything being closer.

One suggestion I do have for the resort in general, is that it would have been convenient to have a drying rack in the room to dry our wet/damp clothes from the day. That way we don’t have to leave it outside, since it did rain a good amount for us, or have clothes everywhere in our room.

The sheets weren’t changed for our room for the last couple of days of our stay. Even though we asked for them to be changed the cleaners would just flip the sheets around instead.

Staff and guests so friendly. Food at buffet bit hit and miss but overall good. We had the Privilege package and i highly recommend. Felt really spoiled.
One negative was the chair saving at pool and beach. Difficult to get decent spot unless you get there by 5 or 6am to stake your spot with your towel
Overall we loved our stay and will be back!

This was our third time at this resort. Facilities and food seem to be going downhill slightly. They added air conditioning to the lobby area about half way through our stay and it ran constantly, making the lobby bar too cold to sit at and socialize in the evening. We have been to resorts in Mexico at least 30 times and always had open air lobbies which we enjoyed. I'm not sure why they felt it was necessary to make it so cold that guests could not enjoy the lobby. We complained several times but nothing was done to adjust the temperature.
The activities and entertainment were also not up to par with what we experienced at previous visits to the resort. On the plus side, our room was nice, and they do have a decent beach with plenty of both sunny and shady spots to enjoy.

Overall the property is well kept, very clean. Room was good except that we had a very bad experience due to no running water for almost a full 24 hours in a couple of rooms from our group. No one called to notify us of what was happening or keep us updated. We had to keep calling to find out what was going on and even then we didn't get much information. Not enough dining options. We also had an issue with getting a table for all of us at the restaurants. It seemed like a huge inconvenience to get a table for the group. We did have a larger group of 14 so I kind of understand for the sit down restaurants but at the buffet? All other places i've ever been to are more than happy to put some tables together at the buffet. Not here. The rest of the service was hit or miss for the most part. Some people went above and beyond while others were downright rude. The exception would be the activities team. They all did a fabulous job and are the reason I rated a bit higher. Shout out to Kendall who was always friendly and upbeat and kept everyone engaged. Also would like to recognize our poolside waiter; Andres who was awesome!

Ocean Maya is excellent value...food is excellent and varied, drinks are consistent and decent name brands are available in all the various liquor types, staff are professional and friendly, loungers are comparatively easy to obtain and the beach was very acceptable.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful; however, this was the most disappointing vacation I have ever had.
The food was very disappointing. My stomach hurt most of the time, and there was very little seafood available. Compared to other five-star resorts I have stayed at, the quality of the food was significantly lower, with barely any seafood options. At one restaurant, I was served farm-raised salmon topped with hot jalapeño peppers, which burned my mouth. I only took one bite, as the fish was tasteless to me. The ocean experience was also very distressing. The water was full of jellyfish. On my third day, I ran out of the ocean after several people began screaming because they were being stung. While trying to get out of the water, I fell and injured my knee, which prevented me from swimming for two days. I was also stung several times, and a friend who was with me was stung three times simultaneously. After that, she refused to go back into the ocean. This significantly impacted our vacation. The massage I received at the spa was the worst massage I have ever had. It was extremely painful and stressful. The massage therapist applied excessive pressure and dug deeply into my skin. I regret not getting up and leaving the session. Additionally, the property needs updating, especially near the main area in front of the Hacienda restaurant. For a five-star resort, that area looked somewhat run-down.

We stayed 8 nights in room 1804. It was a standard room but nice, large, and spotless every day! Our mini fridge was restocked with beer, pop, and plenty of water every day - never had to ask.
The food was great! No complaints whatsoever! We especially enjoyed the Japanese a la carte.
The entertainment staff was simply amazing. They were all such high energy, witty and so much fun!
All staff were quite pleasant and helpful.
The pools were great, the beach was nice and had white powdery sand.
Overall we very much enjoyed this vacation and would return!

This is most definitely not a 5 star resort. The beach and jungle were very pretty. We loved the coatimundi running around everywhere. The resort itself is old and outdated. It looks like it might have been a 5 star resort in the 1990s.
Food was super inconsistent. The buffet options were horrible. If you want any sort of protein, prepare to wait in a 20 min line to get a small piece of chicken or a burger. They had fresh fruit and salad out all the time, so if you are vegetarian you will be fine. Meat eaters will struggle. The other restaurants were better. The Mexican and Hibachi were both very good for an all inclusive. Good luck getting reservations though. Restaurants close randomly during the week and even waking up at 7am when the reservations start don’t guarantee you a time slot. We tried 5 days in a row to get the hibachi and only on the 5th day could we get the very last slot.
Service was the big problem with this resort. This was hands down the worst service I’ve seen in my 10+ visits to all inclusives. There were some exceptions. The bellman was very nice and drove me around when I left a bag in the lobby and the bartenders at the lobby bar and coffee shop were super friendly and helpful. Almost every other person there worked at the resort seemed to absolutely hate their job though. Some were rude, but most just didn’t seem to care at all. Tipping did not help. Most of the time a tip received no thank you and they continued the poor service. Overall, 3 stars.

The grounds were well kept. The room was large and clean. The food was delicious, and they asked about food allergies at every meal which is really thoughtful. The resort wasn't overcrowded at all so there was always space to eat, and we never had to wait to be seated. Carlos and Hugo were awesome servers! All staff and employees were friendly and helpful. There are a couple pools, access to the beach, and a few other places to relax in the sun. The pool bar did get a little backed up at times but nothing more than a couple minutes wait. The first night we were there and on/off for nearly 24hrs the water didn't work for the entire resort. This was because of the city's water service provider so it was out of the resort's control. We would definitely stay again!

Our stay at Ocean Maya Royale was not what we expected. Overall, the customer service left a lot to be desired. We had to call the main number several times just to receive basic items like water and a steamer. Although they were eventually delivered, it took multiple follow-ups, which was frustrating.

Our experience at the Mexican restaurant, El Charro, was especially disappointing. We waited an hour for our food, only to be served cold dishes. The chicken in particular tasted as if it came out of a can. On top of that, getting reservations at the other restaurants was nearly impossible.

There was also a day when the water went out for a few hours in the morning and again in the afternoon, which was inconvenient and unexpected for a resort at this level.

Despite the issues, I want to give a big shoutout to the staff at La Hacienda: Octavio, Sara, Gabriela, Ramon, and Benito. Their service stood out and truly made a difference during our stay. Additionally, Kevin at checkout was excellent—professional, kind, and efficient. These team members were the highlight of our trip.

In summary, while there were some bright spots thanks to a few outstanding staff members, the overall experience fell short of expectations.
