Gracias Grand Velas for making this trip relaxing, enjoyable, and truly memorable. My husband and I visited for a long weekend (but not quite long enough!) for my 40th birthday. We had private transportation to and from the resort which made traveling from the US seamless and stressful-free. When we arrived, we were immediately impressed with the beauty of this resort. Set in a tropical jungle oasis right along the beach of Riviera Maya, we took in the views of the lush green landscapes and bright purple flowers that lined the verandas. We also had the opportunity to see many of the local wildlife. After arriving in the lobby, we were introduced to our personal concierge Diana Lopez, who took great care of all our needs from check-in to check-out. By messaging through WhatsApp, she was able to confirm our dinner reservations and inform us of various activities within the resort each day we were there. We spent our mornings on the beach, afternoons by the Grand Class pool, and evenings in the various restaurants this resort has to offer. Each meal was memorable in its own way. We had the pleasure of dining at Frida (shout out to Ariel who not only made amazing food and drink recommendations but was also very entertaining), Chaka, Cocina de Autor (a Michelin star restaurant), and Lucca. The staff at each location truly made you feel like you were their top priority and went above and beyond to provide you with an exceptional experience. We will be back!

Concierge was the most disappointing - frustrating. First day we arrived - we have 2 kids. Concierge said we could get some beach toys. We went to front desk they said concierge didn’t open until 11am….

We also asked the concierge via email and in person that if we left the kids at the kids club during dinner that they would have dinner there. The answer was yes. However, no one said dinner for kids at the kids club was only at 6pm. So my kids didn’t have a full meal as we had reservations at the Michellin restaurant.

Then we tried to book a catamaran. The vendor on the beach said to book via concierge. So we called the concierge. They said they would confirm and get back to me. Next morning, they had all forgotten! Then they tried to scramble to find a time that worked but it was too late. The slot we had tried for that worked best for our kids was not available.

Then I asked if we could book our last night at Frida. They said they would try. We had a reservation at Lucca at 630. I said anytime at Frida between 530 and 7pm worked. Concierge said it was confirmed he managed to get a table at Frida. We show up at a Frida. They said they have no reservation and they are fully booked. We call the concierge and they say that they rescheduled us at Lucca at 530…. How does that make sense? Fortunately restaurant made it work.

Our concierge was out sick so the others split the duties. Service everywhere else was great but the concierge service was so incredibly frustrating an

This was hands down the best resort I’ve ever been to! From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. Traveling with a 2-year-old and a baby can be challenging, but this resort made it feel effortless. It is truly one of the most family-friendly places we’ve ever experienced. They had so many thoughtful amenities specifically for little ones, which made our stay comfortable, easy, and so enjoyable.
The service was outstanding from start to finish. Every staff member was warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. A special shout out to concierge Alfonso, who went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfectly arranged for our family, and to our amazing babysitter Daniela, who was so gentle, patient, and wonderful with both our toddler and our baby. Having someone we trusted made such a difference.

The food was absolutely delicious with great variety, and we appreciated how accommodating they were with young children. The pool was huge and beautiful, with plenty of space for everyone to relax while still feeling very family-friendly.

The kids club was fantastic as well, with engaging activities and a welcoming atmosphere that worked great for our 2-year-old.

We made such special memories here and will definitely be back. I highly recommend this resort to any family traveling with young children — it truly exceeded every expectation.

The food is in another LEVEL. And not just at the restaurants. The poolside food is excellent, and everything is so fresh and beautifully prepared. The service is some of the best I’ve ever experienced. The grounds are immaculate. It’s the best hotel experience I’ve had in Mexico, by FAR.

We were supposed to receive an Oceanview room upon check-in, but were instead given a Garden View room. One of the main reasons we booked this resort was the promise of having access to the second-largest coral reef for snorkeling, directly from the property. Unfortunately, this turned out not to be true.
As longtime fans of Grand Velas properties — having stayed at their Cabo and Puerto Vallarta locations — we expected the same level of service and quality. Sadly, this experience fell short. When we raised our concerns, the manager Mauricio was unhelpful and dismissive. Despite waiting over seven hours for a response, his only solution was to tell us to contact Expedia. As the manager, we expected him to take more responsibility in addressing guest issues, not delay and deflect.We seriously considered leaving due to the room discrepancy and lack of snorkeling access. To add to our disappointment, one of the pool staff members was unwilling to assist with setting up an umbrella until he saw my husband doing it himself. This behavior reflected poorly on the level of guest service we expected from a resort of this caliber. On a positive note, our personal concierge, Nora, was very kind and empathetic to our concerns. However, the situation was ultimately in the hands of Mauricio and Fernando, both of whom failed to resolve the issues and only worsened our experience.

We just returned from an unforgettable family vacation at Grand Velas Riviera Maya, and I can honestly say this was one of the best resort experiences we’ve ever had!

From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the amazing staff—so warm, welcoming, and attentive at every step. A special shout-out to our Personal Concierge, Viridiana Guillen, who made our stay absolutely seamless. She went above and beyond for our family, making sure we had everything we needed—especially for our little ones. She checked in regularly, helped us plan activities, and always made us feel cared for. Her attentiveness with both us and our toddlers was incredibly heartwarming.

The cleanliness of the resort was top-notch—everything was spotless, which gave us so much peace of mind with small children in tow. The resort is also incredibly family-friendly, with thoughtful amenities like high chairs, cribs, toddler-friendly activities, and staff who never made us feel uncomfortable about the chaos that sometimes comes with little kids.

One restaurant that truly stood out was Azul. While every restaurant offered delicious food and a great variety of cuisines, the service at Azul was exceptional. We were so impressed by Antonio Cauich Chi, Michelle Espino, and Chef Miguel Leon—they made every dining experience memorable. They were kind, welcoming, and made sure we felt comfortable even when our toddlers made a mess. Their hospitality was genuine and truly appreciated.

Food was amazing; service was really good but tips get out of control with the need to sign bills for 'invenrory purposes' everytime you have a drink at the pool. The beach had a ton of seaweed and the water was rocky, which was a huge downer. The kids club was being rebuilt (no arcade) and the coffee shop could use more snacking options and ice cream flavors. Overall, I don't think it's worth the price

Overall had an excellent stay at Grand Velas. Got upgraded to Grand Class through Expedia VIP access. Nora our butler was very attentive. The food is the best part about this resort. Unlike all the other all inclusive resorts, food here is excellent. The minor downsides that we noticed: the concierge via whatsapp available until 5 pm and then you have to call a number from a room, which is a bit inconvenient when you want to adjust dinner plans, need something last minute, have to go back to the suite, music selection at the pool needs major improvement, it was either not on, or something that was not very good, we noticed the butlers around the pool were hesitant to change the towel or give extra towels when asked which made it somewhat awkward, and while room service breakfast was amazing, the breakfast buffet at the azul was disappointing. Things were not clearly labeled, there were no clear directions on how to order omelettes, pancakes etc.

The hotel upgrade my stay,Unfortunately the 2 bed reservation was not respected, On the second day of my stay the hotel wanted to resolve the situation, being on the beach I did not wanted to loose time and effort, the hotel is exceptional - in this particular situation it was the staff who did not show interest to try to resolve the problem - it was until I asked the following day that Nora reacted to my situation.

I would have given this resort a 5/5 but there simply is not enough pool/beach chairs for everyone at the family ambassador pool. You need to be there for 715am in order to get a chair. For the price we paid this is unacceptable. Also the service at the Italian restaurant was sub par.

The ground are beautiful and the beach is great.

Emmanuel and Fatima at the pool service were outstanding. Aaron was an awesome personal concierge.

Please fix the pool chair situation and will come back.

Top notch service and food! This resort is absolutely beautiful and clean. The spa is a must, it is fabulous! We could not eat at the Michelin Star restaurant which was very disappointing. The earliest reservation was for 9:45pm, which is very late. I wish I would have known to book dinner reservations ahead of time. There was no way to get an earlier reservation the entire week we were there. Everything at this resort was just amazing!

The service, food and pool/beach areas were exceptional. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The food at each a La cart restaurant was delicious. We loved how the Mexican restaurant on site made table side margarita and guacamole. The Michelin star restaurant was a great experience and all of these restaurants were included in the cost. Even the buffet had good food. The resort was right on the beach which was cleaned and raked everyday. The property had serval infinity pools that were gorgeous. We left talking about when we can plan to come back again.

We stayed here last week and had an amazing time celebrating my daughter’s 17th bday and our 20th anniversary. I travel a lot and never had that kind of attention… Starting from the time of booking to our return back home. Level of service is 2nd to none. It will hurt your wallet but totally worth it! Thank you to our concierge Cesar who ensured we wanted for nothing.

This is a unique place. You really have to be a picky traveler to not like Grand Velas or to find something not up to standards. And if there is something (because things happen), I assure you they will do everything in their power to get it fix ASAP. As a family, we love this resort and can't wait to go back.

It is an excellent hotel with a lot of potential but one huge shortcoming - food poisoning!

The service provided by the hotel staff is exceptional and so are the hotel facilities. Our concierge, Itzel, was fantastic. My girls enjoyed the Kids Club. The beach, with many rocks, takes points away since it makes it difficult to enjoy the beach - it makes it not swimmable. The breakfast at the Azul restaurant is very enjoyable, and I want to give special mention to Omar, who was great.

Dinner at the various restaurants were seemingly amazing, until you end up with food poisoning. Alcolhol included some top shelf selections. One day, we had lunch at the adults-only Bistro restaurant and ordered a green ceviche and an octopus dish. That night I spent the night in the toilet vomiting and with diarrhea. In the morning I felt horrible all day, with no energy or will to do much. My husband had a bit of a delayed start, but by the afternoon he was feeling uneasy, and later that night he spent his share of time at the toilet with diarrhea.

The hotel offered us a consult with the hotel doctor at a cost. While they ended up not charging us for the doctor’s visit after my husband reasoned with them, I’m still disappointed that they even try to charge us for it and at the reaction that staff at the hotel vacation club office had, who try to minimize and ridicule our situation as a “stomach upset”.

I also noticed there is another guest who also experienced food poisoning a month ago.

My family and I recently stayed at Gran Velas Riviera Maya from June 1 to June 8, and we couldn't be happier with our experience. The service and hospitality were top-notch.

Our concierge, Miriam, went above and beyond, stocking our rooms with our favorite snacks and drinks, arranging special birthday treats, and handling all our reservations. Her attentiveness made us feel incredibly welcomed.

By the pool, Humberto and Jesus kept us comfortable, shaded, and well-stocked with drinks and food. Barbara’s unique service of cleaning sunglasses was a delightful touch.

Dining was a highlight, with Isaac, Andres, and Edgar at the Bistro making us feel at home and offering great recommendations. Maira at Chakra introduced us to the chef, while Dario at Piaf and Felix and Nadia at Azul provided exceptional service. Nadia’s friendly approach and care for our kids were heartwarming.

The resort’s grounds were stunning, with beautiful flowers and freely roaming animals adding to the charm.

In summary, Gran Velas Riviera Maya exceeded our expectations with its impeccable service, attentive staff, friendly atmosphere, and breathtaking grounds. We are already planning our next visit. Thank you for a memorable stay!

This vacation was great. Our concierge Jessica Meza was great and really took extra care of us. She left a birthday surprise for my son as well as roses for my wife to enjoy. These small details are why we loved thw property and would love to stay with you next year. Thanks again for a great stay.

No entertainment!, kids were bored, food was moderate, your plates were taken away right you put fork down!, no music in the evening, there was nothing to do for 9 and 10 years old, no even pool activities, no floaties, you have to buy one or just pleased them to give you some which were left by the other visitors! The food was ok, nothing special. The food im cooking at home taste much more better. Sushi was just ok, nothing special.

Excellent customer service!!! Peaceful, especially the Zen Pool and Zen Lobby. Kids club had activities every hour. Everyone is kind, always greeting, attentive and welcoming. All restaurants are excellent! We can’t wait to go back. 5 days went by like 5 hours. Very very highly recommend it to families with younger kids or teenagers.

Amazing. Fantastic for young families and older kiddos. Mario, Fernando, Marisela, Jorge were incredible with our family. Our favorite pool was at grand class, the bistro meal with the tomahawk steak, fresh lobster and sea bass absolutely divine. The swim up pool bars and every day tacos and cocktails all to die for. I will miss this resort - very special to my family. The service top notch, the beach is warm and stunningly blue with powder white sand. Azul served the best breakfast options. Truly worth the visit. Attention to detail is top notch. The spa is a must go- the water experience prior to my facial and my husband's massage is a memory for the books- and we love high end spas. This is next level impressive. We all felt safe, pampered and taken care of. We will be back. Much love and gratitude. ~Jojo

I have stayed at many all inclusive resorts and grand velas is by far, the best. Service is wonderful with staff eager to assist and find ways to make your stay special. The food is truly wonderful. It’s inventive and tasty with many options at each restaurant. The resort is gorgeous and clean and the pool is beautiful. We truly loved every minute.
