The resort was beautiful. They gave a the wrong price for the spa. So it was a surprise during check out when we had to pay more. The beach was taking over with seaweed, nothing that the resort could do in this situation. It was just out of hand and the smell was terrible.

This is our fourth time staying at the resort. We usually go in November and this was our first time going in June, we had no idea that the seaweed was bad this time of the year. We wish the website would’ve stated that because we would have chose a different destination to have gone to. Unfortunately the beach was not used by anyone at the resort due to how bad the seaweed was. The smell was horrific!

Las remodelaciones de las habitaciones quedaron espectaculares. Los restaurantes hermoso, la comida aceptable. Las piscina le faltaba mantenimiento, la peste en todo el hotel a sargazo era fuertisima. El hotel es grandisimo, pero tienen servicio de carritos y es super conveniente, no tienes que caminar mucho si no lo deseas.
La aplicación fue un plus a la hora de reservar los restaurantes y ver el itinerario de las actividades por día.

Property grounds and rooms were beautiful and well maintained, but the pools were not. There was a visible dark ring around water line in all the pools due to lack of cleaning and maintenance. The check-in process was extremely slow.

New remodel was nice, rooms are excellent and updated. Restaurants were not open all the time and hard to get reservations. So much seaweed and horrible smell that you could not be on the beach at all so we spent our entire vacation in the pool which was hot as well. Brown rings developed around the pools, not sure if it was from the seaweed debris or people not getting out to use the restroom (GROSS). Food was pretty good though. Drinks were decent. Hibachi was a hit and so was the Itialian place. Just not much to do for a full week when there is no beach to speak of.

The resort had just underwent a renovation from what it said online. When we got there, we were told by other guests that it had only been reopened for a week. That being said, The rooms were very clean and very updated. The Staff for the rooms and the all a cart restaurants were very kind and accomodating. The bar staff was friendly enough and did their best to keep up with demand. They had a decent selection of liquor as well. The food was pretty good at all restaurants we were able to try, and the best was really the 2 buffets. Now for the bad. I don't usually complain but the reason I come here is for the beach. I know it is not their fault about the seaweed overturning this time of year but the beach was disgusting!!!! The smell was putred!!! We basically had to spend 7 days in a hot pool. The pools developed a brown ring around the top, my guess is because no one got out ever.

We had an amazing stay! We loved the food, everything was delicious with many options. The water park was so much fun and perfect for families. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The Beach was closed. No one was permitted to use it. We were not given information on the property bus system so we didn’t know what time it started or ended. Many of the restaurants had no signs to say their name so we had to walk around the property and go into places to ask. Staff were asked people to buy things even when they were in the pool. Cups all over the pool area from guests leaving their trash.

The Grand Riviera Princess resort was beautiful and huge lol. The people, the staff, were very friendly, very helpful. The food in the buffet restaurant was delicious, even the other restaurants the food was delicious, especially La hacienda restaurant. We enjoyed seeing wildlife as we walking through the path like deers, Coati, and even moneys. So many pools to choose from and never overly crowded, the swim up bars was fabulous. I would definitely come back again.

Rooms were fantastic! The staff were all very attentive and kind. Pools are warm and spacious but the spa was a bit pricey considering US prices are lower in local areas. However, most of the food is very bland bordering nasty and all drinks are very watered down, 4/10 from me kind of disappointing given all of the food and bar options. Over all the resort is beautiful nice architecture, clean and has a good balance of nature embedded in the atmosphere. Absolutely love all of the native animals around (family of monkeys were adorable), definitely more than any other resort property I’ve ever experienced.

(My third time at this resort).
CONS:
* Beach maintenance was disappointing. While seaweed in the ocean is unavoidable, large piles were left on the beach for days, creating a strong rotten-egg odor that occasionally reached the pool areas. Nearby resorts regularly cleared their beaches with tractors, but this resort appeared to make no effort to remove the accumulated seaweed.
* The property declined to provide the VIP perk that Expedia advertised in our price (free massage for 2). I asked 3 different staff members and they all basically said “We don’t do that. Figure it out with Expedia. Not our problem.”
* The recent renovation looks appealing in photos but was poorly executed in person. Uneven paint, misaligned tiles, and other finishing issues made many areas feel cheaply remodeled.
* Pool activities - mediocre.

PROS:
* Great food with good variety and several new restaurants offering diverse menus.
* New snack area - a convenient addition for quick bites throughout the day.
* The updated towel policy is a major improvement. No more towel cards or trips to the front desk if towels are lost. Guests can simply grab fresh towels as needed.
* Pools were clean and maintained at a comfortable temperature.
* Poolside cabanas were a great feature.
* Their gym is great!
* The new kids’ area and water slides were a fantastic addition, giving children their own space and making the main pool and bar areas much quieter and more relaxing than during our previous visits.

The staff was not very helpful at all. From the very beginning of our stay to the very end of checkout. If you brought them any issues or problems thier answers were that's just the way it is and I'm sorry. Never a solution or option to get it fixed. The staff was not very knowledgeable of where things are located or were they able to understand what you were asking more than half the time. Several individual employees acted like they couldn't speak English although their job was clearly to items such as timeshares or souvenirs but if you interrupted them when they didn't want to speak to you that was their excuse. None of the restaurants had any identifiers on them that would let you know you're at the right restaurant. Attempted to make several reservations for the sit-down restaurants and was unsuccessful. Their system of making reservations seemed very archaic and not user friendly at all for more than a party of three. If it's just a couple or single then you'll probably have no problem making reservations. The buffets were very good.The property was very well maintained clean and very nice to look at . The rooms were very clean newly updated and nice although the showers had very very little water pressure . The pools were nice and always clean but not all of the pools had towel service or food or drink ordering service. You either had to go to one of the swim up pools or find one Tower station that was usually open. I will not recommend this hotel to anybody

Overall, we had a good stay at the Grand Riviera Princess. The resort grounds are beautiful, well-maintained, and there are plenty of pools, activities, and dining options to keep you busy throughout your vacation.

The food was surprisingly good for an all-inclusive resort, with most restaurants providing enjoyable meals and a good variety of options. However, La Hacienda was a major disappointment. Both the service and the food quality were well below the standard of the rest of the resort. The staff seemed inattentive, and the food was mediocre at best.

One of the biggest frustrations was that the resort did not honor the Expedia Silver Status perk that advertised two complimentary spa treatments. We specifically chose this property in part because of that benefit, so it was disappointing to arrive and find that it would not be provided.

The service throughout the resort was generally okay—not bad, but not particularly memorable either. Some staff members were friendly and helpful, while others seemed indifferent.

Despite the issues, we still enjoyed our trip thanks to the beautiful property, great food at most venues, and overall atmosphere. If the Expedia benefits had been honored and La Hacienda had provided a better experience, this would have been a much higher-rated stay.

BOOK A DIFFERENT STAY !!. To my understanding we were the first people to stay in the family section of the resort…. That came with a few concerns and issues. For example the first day we arrived someone that was not in our group was able to access our room. they looked liked travelers as well, but they opened the room door and realized it wasn’t the room assigned to them. They then apologized and left. It left us very concerned and uneasy about the situation so we called the front desk about it. They did research and then told us it was a contractor as if they were trying to make us feel safe. I would have preferred they tell the truth.
Next issue I had was the whole cart/ride situation within the resort !!
It’s 5 resorts crammed into one and they will not drive you to where you need to go they’ll drop you off “as close as they can get” which is an issue because from the family side to the main lobby it’s at least a 10 minute walk with kids, and in that heat is really not okay ….
Also to get to where the beach is it’s at least 15 minutes walking again because they won’t drop you off closer.
It’s really a big mess with that whole thing.
Now let’s get into what they call the VIP membership (timeshare)
DO NOT FALL INTO THE TRAP!!
they will not give you anything they promised unless you buy the membership!!
They also said the presentation would take 90mins umm.. try 150 yeah 2 and a half hours …
Then the walkout pool section WAS FALLING APART!! I advise against this stay

My only complaint is that they only have a 2 golf carts driving everyone around the ginormous resort and they drop you off in the lobby that isn’t even open yet. Staff is friendly and helpful.

The staff was lazy. Don’t waste your money on platinum you will have to walk about 10 min to get to the lobby because the golf carts are either not passing or they just left your stop and it will take them 15 min to come back. Also the price for better rooms is not as it looks.

The drink are just juices and when you ask for double on a margarita or any cocktail they give you a face.

If you are going in a big group (6 or more) don’t do this resort. The service is bad, not everyone is bad but a great majority of the staff doesn’t want to work.

We were very satisfied with our stay. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained throughout our visit. The staff were very friendly, welcoming, and always helpful whenever we needed assistance. They made us feel comfortable and taken care of during our entire stay.

The pool area was also nice and enjoyable, with plenty of space to relax without feeling too crowded. The overall atmosphere of the hotel was peaceful and relaxing, which made our vacation even better. We truly appreciated the good service, cleanliness, and hospitality. I ordered room service and even though it’s “all inclusive” room service is not include. The food was disgusting (soggy and dry and cold chicken) I called to tell them and they said I could return it. Same night my room flooded because the water was not draining in the shower and I called maintenance they came until almost midnight. They said they would fix it and never did. The next day I took a bath the flooding got worse and the water was spilling from the tub and coming out of the toilet and shower it filled all the way until the living room area and my clothes and shoes got soaked with toilet water. They again came at midnight and had 5 guys trying to unclog the drains and then they said their pipes had an issue and said they would move me. I was in my robe and I had to pack all my things at 1:00am to move to another suite. All I received was a “sorry for the I convince”

The property was beautiful and the rooms were great. Overall, I enjoyed my stay but the food left a lot to be desired, especially the speciality restaurants (buffet was slightly better). The gym was great and although the spa was beautiful, we couldn’t use the full facilities due renovations so we can’t say for everything else but we did have a bad experience with the salon which lead us to cancel some of the massages.

I think if the hotel can improve the food and have more entertainment options, the experience would be significantly better.

We were not aware upon booking the resort wasnt fully open but the rooms are exactly as pictured... STUNNING
I hate my husband couldn't fully utilize the resort so that felt like a waste of money.

The train/busses were not properly scheduled so unfortunately we missed our dinner reservations after waiting 30 minutes for it never to show up.
Our last night we were told to walk by one driver because he didn't want to drop us at our stop. I was floored by the disrespect and moreover having to walk in pitch black to our room which took about 12 minutes.

The hotel is ok, but it is being remodeled and lots of area are closed. Staff is not always friendly and in the buffets, bell boys and drivers (Bernabe) who drive the trains are sometimes rude and will ignore those from Latin America or Mexico. There are exceptions like Russel in the Vaqueria who was exceptional, especially with our children. Th resort has lots of pools which makes it like there are not a lot of people which is good. Consider there is hardly any shade and people reserve them very early. In general it is ok, but definitely the lack of friendly staff is off putting. Not sure if we would come back, maybe when all of it is open.

We love vacationing on the Yucatan Peninsula over the last 15 years. We have stayed at several different resorts, condos, and even an ocean-front villa, but the Princess resort is by far our favorite. We've stayed at the Princess once or twice a year over the last 5 years, and brought family members to enjoy to resort with us. The resort has been doing some needed renovations over the last year and the updated rooms are beautiful. Our only disappointment with the new rooms is they removed the Jacuzzi tubs, which was one of our favorite perks, and replaced them with a nice looking but small bathtub. They also remodeled the restaurants and improved the dining options and experiences. They have several chefs available to cook to order food at the evening buffet. And the staff is always very helpful. We want to thank Francisco, Roberto, Lorenzo, Beatriz, and Angel for making all of our meals a wonderful experience, and also our favorite tram driver Bernie for his excellent service. The only other thing that could have made our vacation better was the beach conditions. The sargassum was really bad, and was piled up in big stinky mounds, so we didn't spend anytime at the beach. I don't know if it's possible for the resort to do something to improve that, but we spent our time enjoying the pools instead. We really enjoyed our stay and we will be back to the Princess!

Make sure you understand the difference between regular and platinum package, we did not know that regular package rooms would not be allowed to access the beach. It would've been cheaper to buy a platinum package online than the upgrade we paid in person. Staff are friendly but some of the main entrance people can come across aggressive with trying to \"help\" you/find tours for you. IMO better to lie and say you are fully booked already to keep it moving. We spent a bit of time at check in having to deny tours and whatnot from one of the staff/vendors at the main check in.
Just say no to any offer of a special vip platinum breakfast or \"free\" tickets to a cenote. There is a platinum buffet, no exclusive vip breakfast, please just say no, say you have plans for the entire day, and dont waste your time.
Other than that, the property was beautiful and the staff was welcoming, the room was nice and clean.

The pool is great. The staff is great. The property is beautiful. Everything is very clean. The new decor is very nice. There is no door to separate the room from the tub. The shower floor is extremely slippery! Be very careful! I requested two specific rooms, next to each other. I was given the room numbers I requested BUT was not told they changed to sequence of numbers, therefore did NOT get the rooms I wanted. Also, expected to be on the Riviera side (which was supposed to be done by my check in) but was put in the Sunset side. The buffets are very small, not like they used to be with No fun theme nights. Not enough bar staff. The staff driving the little trolly on property are the fantastic! Hope you all are lucky enough to have Bernie as your driver! I have been to this resort 6 times and will continue to return with a knowledge to lower my expectations. Just not the same.

We absolutely loved the different choices of pools, depending on what mood we were in for the day. The Japanese and Brazilian restaurants were our favorite, but overall the food was good everywhere. The grounds were just beautiful with a short walk to the beach when we wanted to hang out there. Overall fantastic mother/daughter vacation.

We had a great stay! The resort is beautiful, on the beach, and staff is great. There are very few signs for buildings, so we got lost quite a bit Day 1, but once we figured it out, everything was wonderful

Our entire stay was absolutely amazing. Check in was a breeze and the staff was excellent!
Clean beautiful rooms.....pools were sparkling clean, all restaurants and buffets were surprisingly delicious.
I would definitely tell others to book today and to enjoy.
Best thing was the swim out room!

We had such a great stay at this hotel! From the moment we arrived, everything felt welcoming and well taken care of. The food was really good—plenty of options and everything we tried was fresh and flavorful.

One of the highlights for us was the kids’ area—it was amazing! The kids had so much fun and didn’t want to leave. It made the whole experience even more enjoyable for our family.

Overall, we truly loved our stay and would definitely come back. Highly recommend for families looking for a fun and relaxing getaway

Very nice resort with good service. It’s very big and you can get a bit disoriented when you first arrive so I suggest familiarizing yourself with the property right away. We did not opt for a tour initially but could have benefited from it. Staff is very friendly and helpful other than one of the bartenders at the swim up Fantasy bar. If he did not receive regular tips every drink, he became disengaged and would ignore.
The food was amazing especially at the main buffet. Drinks were very good as well.
I would definitely stay here again.
