Exceptional service all around! All facilities were well maintained. Our family was very impressed with the restaurants! One of the best steaks we have had in a while at Tauro. The property is a great escape for families who seek luxury accommodations.

our stay was extended by an extra four days due to a historic blizzard on the United States East Coast. The same day in Jalisco, there was Narco violence that shut down Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara. Despite everything going on around us, we had an amazing stay. The staff is universally wonderful, polite, and endlessly helpful. Gabriel at the front desk was instrumental in helping arrange a room past our expected checkout date. Everyone from the cleaning staff to the general manager did everything to help make our stay not just easy but amazing.

The resort is beautiful and the jungle setting is magnificent! This would easily be a 5 star review except for one flaw - the food at the Fairmont is very expensive and mostly average at best. Outside of the breakfast buffet and lobby sushi bar - which were very good - the other restaurants we tried were not what you'd expect from a resort of this caliber. This issue seems to be a problem for all of the Mayakoba hotels. We ate the very fancy and expensive Cello restaurant at the Banyan Tree and while the setting was gorgeous the food was just not very good. We ended up cancelling some restaurant reservations at the hotel and going into Playa Del Carmen instead, which is a 15 minute cab ride. That turned out to be a great option - the town is fun and we had some great meals on the lovely, tree-lined Avenue 38. Overall, I highly recommend the Fairmont just know what to expect about the food, especially the dinners.

Where to even begin about this property. We started our stay for four days and then went to go to Cozumel to dive. Our original plan was to go to Tulum after but we loved the Fairmont experience so much that we decided to come back after three days in Cozumel. In total we were at the Fairmont for ten days and I could of stayed for another month.
First and foremost, the property. It is UNREAL, it is perfect for any sort of getaway. It is STUNNING and perfectly kept. Every room is perfect, no matter where you are.

Air conditioning was tricky and medicore/stuffy. I couldn't figure out how to turn on the ceiling fan. I couldn't find the switch. Everything was so far away. Always walking and asking for rides, then feeling guilty about tipping (there should be a NO tipping policy). Everyone was expecting tips and handouts. The taxi situation to town was a pain and they showed up late. Nearly messed up my plans. Felt trapped in the hotel and there was nothing easy to eat casually. The beach was nice and service with amenities was great (paddle boards, kayaks, etc). Buffet was mediocre. Kept having to ask for butter - which sounds silly but it wasn't available unless we ask (toast, pancakes, etc). The check in and out process was a pain. They make you sit while they 'find a room and talk and give you a fruit drink'. I just want to check in and get to my room. It souldn't be an 'experience'. The \"Resort Fee and Ecological Fee\" was silly. Felt like I was getting scammed with added fees. I always felt like I was trapped and every time I left my room I needed to spend money.

The property is recently renovated and extremely well maintained. Very clean. The food in all the restaurants was amazing. This was one of the best experiences I’ve had!

Considering the high price point, I expected a much higher standard of service, hospitality, and convenience. Sadly, I wouldn’t recommend this resort and won’t be returning.

Excellent service and facilities. In-room dining could be faster. Only issue we disliked is the time of wait for jeep from beach to rooms/lobby around 5-6pm. There are no signs or rules and guests do not respect if others have been waiting and cut the line all the time. Need for signs in multiple languages to control better the line.

We checked in at Fairmont Mayakoba on August 2 and were very disappointed with our experience. Our room had a serious issue with ants and mosquitoes, and my daughter was badly bitten. We immediately requested a room change. The staff told us they would try to arrange one by 9 PM that night, but it didn’t happen. They then said they would call us at 9 AM the next morning, so we waited and didn’t unpack.
In the end, we were moved to a very basic and small room with a view completely blocked by a tree. We had paid for a resort-view room and expected a higher standard. The hotel clearly had many vacant rooms due to the off-season and hot August weather, yet we were given one of the least desirable options.
This has been a very poor customer service experience, and we feel we did not receive the value we paid for. The new room was far below the category and quality we had booked.
Food is overpriced and average; best to eat in-room or at the beach. Mosquitoes are overwhelming in August, the resort is far from downtown, no Uber is available, and taxis are expensive. Overall, not worth the price.

Fabulous resort, we were kindly upgraded to a casita and it was stunning - maid service twice a day, in the evening our ice bucket would be filled . Our rooms were clean and spacious with quality fittings and beautiful balconies where we could sit and listen to the sounds of the jungle.
The staff, without exception were friendly and helpful. Valet parking easy and efficient, and they would give us water and towels if going out for the day. On return, they would say “ welcome home “! Food delicious, especially the breakfast buffet ( Christina’s omelettes are second to none !) which was extensive and set us up for the day.
The beach was gorgeous , pools clean and the areas well maintained and so pretty.

Most guests complained as the temperature in the room wont go below 75 which is high for sleeping. Bedroom was not bad but the living room was too hot for us hence the 4 stars otherwise FULL 5 stars.

What we loved most about this property was its natural beauty and ecosystem layout. It’s divided into three main areas, each with its own charm.
The main hotel area is calm and well-designed, with two restaurants, a spa, and a peaceful pool that’s often empty—perfect for a quiet break. The boat dock allows for a tour of the property that you will want to schedule with the attendant located by the dock. This is also where you will pick up bikes and chauffeur golf carts to travel throughout the property. The carts and bikes were extremely convenient and so much apart of the charm.
The second area is centered around a large pool complex with separate family and adult pools, two more restaurants, and a cozy café. We loved the quiet view from the adult pool and an afternoon Affogato from Maya‘s Café.
The beach club is the standout. The pool overlooks a wide stretch of beach with plenty of room to relax or play. We enjoyed all of the activities, including the catamaran (an 30ish minute tour was complementary and booked same day) and a sunrise paddleboard out to the core reef (fee based)—Darwin was a great guide.
Around the property, you’re still within the Mayakoba and we felt extremely safe and relaxed taking walks on the nature trail pre-dinner and riding bikes to the cenote.

We enjoyed all of the activities, including the catamaran (an 30ish minute tour was complementary and booked same day) and a sunrise paddleboard out to the core reef (fee based)—Darwin was a great guide.
Around the property, you’re still within the Mayakoba and we felt extremely safe and relaxed taking walks on the nature trail pre-dinner and riding bikes to the cenote.

We really enjoyed our stay. The property has been completely remodeled, rooms are spacious with nice amenities. We enjoyed the pool area and the beach club. There was always an open chair/umbrella. Restaurants are varied and delicious. We would have liked one more casual option for lunch maybe. The Fairmont and it’s beach area are much nicer than neighboring resorts within Mayakoba.

In my and my teenage daughter’s opinion, fairmont is the best in all of mayakoba. Tauro and dinner at la laguna was a highlight. The Concierge do such a great job to make sure you can get into the restaurants. Needing reservations is definitely a must. We highly recommend taking one of their boat rides to get the lay of the land. All the water sports people were so much fun and helpful. Housekeeping was super sweet and did a great job considering all the towels we used. Word of warning. DO NOT take the taxis from the airport. Allow the hotel to manage your transportation to and from the airport or take your chances. Im in the midst of counseling my credit cards right now. But don’t let this scare you from going to this beautiful country with beautiful people and beautiful weather. Noe at concierge and many of the staff are the happiness directors and will do everything to make sure you have a great time even if you have a grouchy, entitled teenager with you. The honor system with the bikes is so much fun and be sure to ride into the Pueblito. Rosewood and Fairmont to a great job making it fun, safe and delicious. We saw some baby crocodiles and lots of cool animals. We can’t wait to go back.

We had the Signature Casita King Suite which was perfect for what we needed, but when checking in our room wasn't ready. They told us it would only be 30 minutes, but it took well over 3 hours. We were traveling with a 6 year old and a 4 year old so of course all they wanted to do was go to the beach or pools. We were told we can use the lobby bathrooms to unpack all of our bags and change which of course was not ideal. They said for the delay they would not charge us for any of our meals or drinks that day (we did not do the all inclusive package). They promised it would already be taken off the bill. Of course, during check out there was not a note about this in our file so they tried to charge us for our lunch and dinner. They finally took care of it. Talking about the food now - it was all mediocre at best. Everyone we talked to at the pool or beach was complaining about the food. I think when there's a \"5 Star\" resort you're just expecting more elevated dishes. The poolside menus were very generic and tasted like cruise ship food (which I've never been on a cruise before but it's what I would imagine cruise food would be like). The grounds are beautiful and everyone is so nice though! I think they really just need to work on their food.

We had a phenomenal experience at Fairmont Mayakoba. We enjoyed everything about the stay including the golf, spa, pool/beach relaxation, variety of dinner options amongst the Fairmont, Banyon Tree and Rosewood, plus the Mayakoba Experiences that allowed us to take a top-notch private tour to Chichen Itza and a cenote. The facilities and service were among some of the best experiences that we have ever had. I would highly recommend this vacation and stay to anyone.

The outdoor shower in the Casitas was our favourite after a long winter in Toronto. All the food is great. Make reservations for dinner as places can fill up even when the hotel doesnt seem too full.

This is a wonderful place. But not perfect. Fairmont Mayakoba is not a value proposition. The one star deduction is for the ridiculous prices in the restaurants. The most expensive and the biggest disappointment is the steak house Tauro. Very mediocre food paired with laughable prices.

The staff is nice and do the best they can, but they are grossly understaffed for a resort of this size. We went to a wedding there for a weekend, and the logistics were pretty bad all around. Food, service and the golf carta to get around took way too long. The food was not good at all. Mexico has amazing food, this was very disappointing. Especially considering how expensive the hotel is. I would not stay here again based only on those two issues.

We didn’t want to leave! Went for a long weekend to celebrate my birthday and left tanned and happy. The property is gorgeous, spacious and well taken care of. Mayocoba is a tropical oasis. We didn’t partake in the all-inclusive however if you are there to party it might be a good idea. Can’t wait to go back.

Beautiful property but massive and requires shuttling around, which may be fine but the shuttles were inconsistent and sometimes required long waits. The service was shockingly underwhelming and frustrating for a 5 star hotel. The food was okay but not great, and very overpriced for what it was. The beach was great and plenty of shade and loungers available. The whole experience was just inconsistent. We will not be returning.

Just returned home from Mayakoba and we absolutely loved it! The property is beautiful and the rooftop bar looking over the ocean was our favourite! Arrive at 6 pm for a complimentary mixology class and then sip your cocktail while enjoying the stunning sunset. We also loved our complimentary river cruise throughout Mayakoba. In my opinion, The Fairmont is the most beautiful of the four hotels. We didn't have a problem finding loungers throughout the day by the pools or beach. They don't allow you to reserve them, so there's always options. The restaurants were delicious, we loved them all. And the staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend The Fairmont Mayakoba if you're looking for quiet luxury in Mexico.

We stayed here 15 years ago and loved it then, it has only gotten even better if that is possible! The staff were excellent, so helpful and accommodating at every turn, always smiling. We stayed in one of the hotel rooms near the lobby and it was fantastic! Gorgeous bathrooms, so luxurious. Loved the pools by the beach and the food and drink service pool or beachside. The grounds are luscious, beautiful birdsong everywhere. Our only regret is we didn't stay longer. We will definitely return sooner than 15 years!
