As a former 5-star hotelier director, I can often have high standards. Just ask my husband 😉 The Fairmont Mayakoba team well exceeded our expectations. Gabriel and Salvador and additional team members in guest services. Erick, Marcos, Ezequiel and the beach servers, the Cafe Maya team, Roxana at Brisas, tequila tasting (he was so knowledgeable and his name has slipped my mind) and many more were all wonderful! A special shoutout to Gabriel for recognizing our Honeymoon status and going above and beyond for my husband and I. The Fairmont and all of Mayakoba will be on a repeat destination for us. The access to amazing dining, fun daily bike rides, wonderfully clean guest rooms and beautifully combed beaches are just a few of the reasons we loved our stay. Oh and how could I forget the Le Labo signature scent of products (nice touch!)

Keep doing what you are doing… going above and beyond for guests is what hospitality is all about. It was fun for me to be on the receiving side of it for a change! Especially after a stressful wedding era! Cheers and see you all again soon!

Beautiful resort. Suggest having options available for people who have later flights - i.e. more generous late checkout options or at least access to lockers and showers. Candidly, for the cost, the resort had limited things to do aside from sitting by the pool.

Truly enjoyed the Fairmont. Beautiful property, great food at the pool restaurant. Friendly staff there as well. One big frustration was the totally unreliable staff at the reception/golf cart transportation on site: several times we were told: a driver is on the way, will be there or told by a driver “justifying around there back in a minute” without anyone ever showing up afterwards.

Everything about this hotel stay was relaxing from the beach chairs seaside with a giant wooden Palapa and full service all day drinks and lunch whatever you want
We had massages which at first the $300 price tag seemed high but then when you realize it is a time to go and spend at least three hours in the spa with a private pool just for the spa patrons, a coffee bar with yogurt and complementary drinks, outdoor hot tub and the staff is so friendly. It’s just a place to go and really have a Zen moment.
All the restaurants are fabulous and they treated us like royalty at the Toro steak restaurant. We were taken into the dry age, beef room, and given a small sample of the chef’s favorite steak and explained the process of the meat drying, the food was wonderful and we thoroughly enjoyed our entire stay at this hotel resort. A bonus was visiting the adjoining hotels for dinner at the Banyan tree and Rosewood.
Golf carts are your taxi which the resort runs a very efficient service

This resort was incredible in many ways. Gettinf around the resoet is easy with lots of carts to pick you up and bikes readily available. The property is well cared for and maintained. It is large and offers various restaurants. We were in a casita room was perfect and spacious with balcony and table and huge bathroom. We liked that my husband could get up early, close the double doors to the bathroom and I could sleep longer. The adult pool was the place we hung out most of the time. Pool bar and food is great.

What we were disappointed with the insane prices for food. Breakfast buffett was $50USD per person! This is $70CAD for us. What is worse is we heard from a gentleman that stayed there at a different time that the resort raises their food prices during the spring break. I get that the resort may raise prices to stay when it is busy but to also gauge people on the food seems sneaky and shady. We were also disappointed that the beach that was advertised was not what we experienced. It was not swimmable at all due to massive seaweed. They should disclose this when you book. We overpaid for everything. We took a taxi into Playa and it is $70 CAD round trip and with dinner it was still less than staying on resort for dinner and great quality food! I dont think we would stay there again.

Highlights of 4 night stay:

- Lovely, well maintained grounds and facilities - like being in the jungle, but with beach access
- Surprisingly good, varied, and innovative restaurants - and almost always able to get in with short notice. Shout outs: the cuisine at Fuego and Bassano. Most surprising: great pool food, both at the beach and lagoon pools
- Fantastic bathroom - great design and light
- Top notch spa
- Amazingly consistent and strong service across all resort venues - it's clear that every employee here has been \"Hyatt-ized\" to greet guests warmly and professionally and always be helpful
- Best upgrade? Butler service! Being able to group chat on WhatsApp was much easier than a concierge. Special shout out to Edgar for incredible helpfulness and availability. Helped with restaurant and outing reservations (on and off site), transportation access, maintenance issues (super fast response), and even finding and delivering Dramamine to our room. We were blown away!
- Bikes everywhere (to take to the beach pool area, etc.) and the everpresent shuttles. Fair warning: The beach is .5 mile away, but it's very easy to get to, even in the evening for bar/restaurant reservations.

Only weak points were check in - took WAY too long and wasn't very welcoming or helpful - and check out, which felt impersonal after such a great stay. Check in was redeemed when we were upgraded to butler service, noted above.

We look forward to a return trip.

our stay was extended by an extra four days due to a historic blizzard on the United States East Coast. The same day in Jalisco, there was Narco violence that shut down Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara. Despite everything going on around us, we had an amazing stay. The staff is universally wonderful, polite, and endlessly helpful. Gabriel at the front desk was instrumental in helping arrange a room past our expected checkout date. Everyone from the cleaning staff to the general manager did everything to help make our stay not just easy but amazing.

We'll be back next February.

The resort is beautiful and the jungle setting is magnificent! This would easily be a 5 star review except for one flaw - the food at the Fairmont is very expensive and mostly average at best. Outside of the breakfast buffet and lobby sushi bar - which were very good - the other restaurants we tried were not what you'd expect from a resort of this caliber. This issue seems to be a problem for all of the Mayakoba hotels. We ate the very fancy and expensive Cello restaurant at the Banyan Tree and while the setting was gorgeous the food was just not very good. We ended up cancelling some restaurant reservations at the hotel and going into Playa Del Carmen instead, which is a 15 minute cab ride. That turned out to be a great option - the town is fun and we had some great meals on the lovely, tree-lined Avenue 38. Overall, I highly recommend the Fairmont just know what to expect about the food, especially the dinners.

Where to even begin about this property. We started our stay for four days and then went to go to Cozumel to dive. Our original plan was to go to Tulum after but we loved the Fairmont experience so much that we decided to come back after three days in Cozumel. In total we were at the Fairmont for ten days and I could of stayed for another month.

First and foremost, the property. It is UNREAL, it is perfect for any sort of getaway. It is STUNNING and perfectly kept. Every room is perfect, no matter where you are.

The staff, NOTHING LIKE THEM. They are dedicated, professional

Air conditioning was tricky and medicore/stuffy. I couldn't figure out how to turn on the ceiling fan. I couldn't find the switch. Everything was so far away. Always walking and asking for rides, then feeling guilty about tipping (there should be a NO tipping policy). Everyone was expecting tips and handouts. The taxi situation to town was a pain and they showed up late. Nearly messed up my plans. Felt trapped in the hotel and there was nothing easy to eat casually. The beach was nice and service with amenities was great (paddle boards, kayaks, etc). Buffet was mediocre. Kept having to ask for butter - which sounds silly but it wasn't available unless we ask (toast, pancakes, etc). The check in and out process was a pain. They make you sit while they 'find a room and talk and give you a fruit drink'. I just want to check in and get to my room. It souldn't be an 'experience'. The \"Resort Fee and Ecological Fee\" was silly. Felt like I was getting scammed with added fees. I always felt like I was trapped and every time I left my room I needed to spend money.

Disappointing Experience Despite Nice Rooms

I stayed at Fairmont Mayakoba Hotel recently and unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. While the rooms themselves were clean and comfortable, the overall service left much to be desired. Staff weren’t particularly friendly or helpful, and it was often difficult to find assistance when needed.

The food was especially disappointing bland and poorly prepared. I even got sick after eating at the resort and had to see a doctor for antibiotics, which was a major inconvenience. Because of the poor food quality, I ended up having to leave the resort daily just to find something edible.

Transportation within the resort was also unreliable. Bikes were often unavailable, and the carts that are supposed to take guests around rarely showed up, making it difficult to get around the property.

Considering the high price point, I expected a much higher standard of service, hospitality, and convenience. Sadly, I wouldn’t recommend this resort and won’t be returning.

There are no signs or rules and guests do not respect if others have been waiting and cut the line all the time. Need for signs in multiple languages to control better the line.

We checked in at Fairmont Mayakoba on August 2 and were very disappointed with our experience. Our room had a serious issue with ants and mosquitoes, and my daughter was badly bitten. We immediately requested a room change. The staff told us they would try to arrange one by 9 PM that night, but it didn’t happen. They then said they would call us at 9 AM the next morning, so we waited and didn’t unpack.

In the end, we were moved to a very basic and small room with a view completely blocked by a tree. We had paid for a resort-view room and expected a higher standard. The hotel clearly had many vacant rooms due to the off-season and hot August weather, yet we were given one of the least desirable options.

This has been a very poor customer service experience, and we feel we did not receive the value we paid for. The new room was far below the category and quality we had booked.

Food is overpriced and average; best to eat in-room or at the beach. Mosquitoes are overwhelming in August, the resort is far from downtown, no Uber is available, and taxis are expensive. Overall, not worth the price.

Fabulous resort, we were kindly upgraded to a casita and it was stunning - maid service twice a day, in the evening our ice bucket would be filled . Our rooms were clean and spacious with quality fittings and beautiful balconies where we could sit and listen to the sounds of the jungle.
The staff, without exception were friendly and helpful. Valet parking easy and efficient, and they would give us water and towels if going out for the day. On return, they would say “ welcome home “! Food delicious, especially the breakfast buffet ( Christina’s omelettes are second to none !) which was extensive and set us up for the day.
The beach was gorgeous , pools clean and the areas well maintained and so pretty.
We didn’t want to leave.

What we loved most about this property was its natural beauty and ecosystem layout. It’s divided into three main areas, each with its own charm.

The main hotel area is calm and well-designed, with two restaurants, a spa, and a peaceful pool that’s often empty—perfect for a quiet break. The boat dock allows for a tour of the property that you will want to schedule with the attendant located by the dock. This is also where you will pick up bikes and chauffeur golf carts to travel throughout the property. The carts and bikes were extremely convenient and so much apart of the charm.

The second area is centered around a large pool complex with separate family and adult pools, two more restaurants, and a cozy café. We loved the quiet view from the adult pool and an afternoon Affogato from Maya‘s Café.

The beach club is the standout. The pool overlooks a wide stretch of beach with plenty of room to relax or play. We enjoyed all of the activities, including the catamaran (an 30ish minute tour was complementary and booked same day) and a sunrise paddleboard out to the core reef (fee based)—Darwin was a great guide.

Around the property, you’re still within the Mayakoba and we felt extremely safe and relaxed taking walks on the nature trail pre-dinner and riding bikes to the cenote.

Just returned from a four night stay in beautiful Mayakoba Mexico. This was probably one of the best resorts in Mexico that I have stayed at. The service, the rooms, the resort, and the amenities were all amazing!
We did not do the all inclusive option but our booking included the buffet breakfast which had everything we needed. We weren’t aware that we had butler service included with our reservation. Javier and Ali were the assigned butlers for our 2 rooms. They were so helpful and responsive. They helped familiarize us with the property and amenities, adjusted our dinner reservations, arrange transportation, booked activities, and were always available to answer our questions.
The resort is simply beautiful! It underwent a complete renovation just a few years ago. Everything looks brand new. The beach club with the beach side pools are a highlight. Alberto led the mixology class at Cielo rooftop - a great bar tender and a fun teacher! The class was included for no additional cost (even better lol). All the included activities were great - we biked the nature trail, we did hat painting, catamaran’s on the beach, a visit to the butterfly sanctuary, and a guided cenote visit. The morning Eco tour with bird watching is a highlight - not to be missed! Our boat captain, Miguel, was funny (which we needed to wake up at 7:30am) and also very knowledgeable about the local wildlife! It is the most popular activity there, so make sure to reserve it as soon as you can.

The hotel surroundings were beautiful. However, there were a number of safety issues (exposed cables around my infant, broken lighting - causing a fall, lack of care around an anaphylactic allergy), and even after telling the hotel, nothing was done.

The entire time we were there (2 weeks), there were conventions or events (3). The hotel closed down multiple areas (bars, restaurants, pool and beach areas). The food was far from 5* and there was nothing to do past dinner.it was incredibly boring.

It was a very disappointing experience and terrible value for money. I would expect better from both a 5 * hotel and a Fairmont.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Fairmont Mayakoba. The only thing we noticed is that the cocktails are a bit watered down. Otherwise, we loved our weekend and would definitely return! Gracias Fairmont Mayakoba por un fin de semana incredible!

In my and my teenage daughter’s opinion, fairmont is the best in all of mayakoba. Tauro and dinner at la laguna was a highlight. The Concierge do such a great job to make sure you can get into the restaurants. Needing reservations is definitely a must. We highly recommend taking one of their boat rides to get the lay of the land. All the water sports people were so much fun and helpful. Housekeeping was super sweet and did a great job considering all the towels we used. Word of warning. DO NOT take the taxis from the airport. Allow the hotel to manage your transportation to and from the airport or take your chances. Im in the midst of counseling my credit cards right now. But don’t let this scare you from going to this beautiful country with beautiful people and beautiful weather. Noe at concierge and many of the staff are the happiness directors and will do everything to make sure you have a great time even if you have a grouchy, entitled teenager with you. The honor system with the bikes is so much fun and be sure to ride into the Pueblito. Rosewood and Fairmont to a great job making it fun, safe and delicious. We saw some baby crocodiles and lots of cool animals. We can’t wait to go back.

Gorgeous property, wonderful beach area, beautiful views, amazing pools and restaurants. We had the best time and our 12 yrs old son did not want to leave! Neither did my husband and I. Highly recommend and will plan to be back.

We had the Signature Casita King Suite which was perfect for what we needed, but when checking in our room wasn't ready. They told us it would only be 30 minutes, but it took well over 3 hours. We were traveling with a 6 year old and a 4 year old so of course all they wanted to do was go to the beach or pools. We were told we can use the lobby bathrooms to unpack all of our bags and change which of course was not ideal. They said for the delay they would not charge us for any of our meals or drinks that day (we did not do the all inclusive package). They promised it would already be taken off the bill. Of course, during check out there was not a note about this in our file so they tried to charge us for our lunch and dinner. They finally took care of it. Talking about the food now - it was all mediocre at best. Everyone we talked to at the pool or beach was complaining about the food. I think when there's a \"5 Star\" resort you're just expecting more elevated dishes. The poolside menus were very generic and tasted like cruise ship food (which I've never been on a cruise before but it's what I would imagine cruise food would be like). The grounds are beautiful and everyone is so nice though! I think they really just need to work on their food.

We had a phenomenal experience at Fairmont Mayakoba. We enjoyed everything about the stay including the golf, spa, pool/beach relaxation, variety of dinner options amongst the Fairmont, Banyon Tree and Rosewood, plus the Mayakoba Experiences that allowed us to take a top-notch private tour to Chichen Itza and a cenote. The facilities and service were among some of the best experiences that we have ever had. I would highly recommend this vacation and stay to anyone.

We greatly enjoy the Fairmont Mayakoba and have been going for many years. Having said that, there is room for improvement:

- the bicycles are fewer than in previous years and in very poor condition. They require on-going maintenance or overall replacement.

- a la carte prices are very expensive and boring on silly now. 660 pesos for a Latina burger is way overpriced

- all inclusive buffet is not available at la Brisas. This is limiting and I would reconsider this as an option as there is no flexibility on location.

Otherwise great resort and we will be back.

The outdoor shower in the Casitas was our favourite after a long winter in Toronto. All the food is great. Make reservations for dinner as places can fill up even when the hotel doesnt seem too full.
