The hotel is a wonderful, family-friendly destination with a few adults-only areas for those looking for a quieter atmosphere.

Our favorite restaurant was Margarita — if you visit, look for Mario (quesadilla maker). He is incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive. Mario’s quesadillas were so good you’ll probably end up having more than one while enjoying some great conversation with him.

If you become a Privilege or Exclusive member, ask for Alan as your advisor. He helped my friends and I find the best places to visit and arranged our restaurant reservations to fit perfectly into our schedule.

The resort itself is a great place to stay and enjoy without ever needing to leave the property. There are plenty of activities and entertainment options, and the whole resort feels like a small town with something for everyone.

LOVED THIS RESORT! Overall everything was amazing. I did the adults only and definitely worth it, although I went during the wrong time when the seaweed season arrived. The resort did its best to clean the beach. But overall the pool was amazing, room amazing, and not to forget the amazing staff members. The only con I say is the check in was slow having one person check in everyone for the adults only but still they were very helpful and explained everything! 10/10 definitely come check out El Beso! (Even if you don’t do the adults only it’s an amazing stay!)

Stayed with my wife in roof top junior suite in El Beso building from May 16-23. We had a great time: drinks were well-made, service was excellent, room was cleaned and well-maintained, staff was friendly. I'm not a foodie but I thought the food was really good, and they were very accommodating with my dairy allergy.

Unfortunately beach was hammered with sargussum, but they were clearly working hard to remove it. I blame climate change, not the resort's fault. Other than that, I can't think of anything to complain about! Highly recommended, will definitely return.

Unfortunately, this is not an adult only resort. They have an adults only section, but the resort itself is not adults only.

When I booked the trip, I specifically use the filters for adults only and all-inclusive. This resort was all inclusive, but was not completely adults. Only if you were looking for an adult only resort do not book this one.

The staff was great and our room was beautiful. But I will definitely never come back to this resort unless I’m coming with grandchildren. This would not be a place I would book for just the adults only side. My husband and I are empty nesters and we definitely enjoy resorts without children.

The pools and room were clean. The AC was good and all the staff was great except the bartenders. They were slow and unfriendly. Would look at you 3-4 times and just not help you. Several ppl complained. They also didn't have enough smoking areas convenient and closer to the adults only area so ppl were smoking where they should not have been.

The reason for my rating is based on the \"Adults Only\" portion of this listing and the feeling of the resort being understaffed. This is a very misleading listing, and this property is in fact NOT adults only. This resort is attached to a much bigger resort that allows kids. There are only a few locations that are actually adults only, but we noticed that the staff even stretches those rules and will allow kids in those locations as well. The service at the restaurants and bars were underwhelming and at times we felt that we were being ignored and overlooked. We brought our concern up to staff and it was met with mixed reviews and sometimes felt that we shouldn't have said anything at all. The pools and beach service was very lacking and unless you went up to the bar yourself, you were not going to get any drinks. You can also only get food at the actual restaurants, which either had very off hours, were closed, or you needed a reservation for. There are no food stands or poolside/beachside service for food. The resort itself was very clean and kept tidy. I would recommend this resort for families or those with kids, but not for a couple looking for an adults only getaway.

My first all inclusive ever was a great stay. The food was excellent and every meal was good. Alot of seaweed at the beach on the first day but they did a great job of cleaning it up and it was pristine the rest of the trip. The staff was all smiles and helpful everywhere on the resort. Shows and activites every day/night would reccommend.

Hotel and restaurant staff consistently went over and above for my needs. Security is very good too. Plus a beautiful private Caribbean beach. Good proximity to Tulum, Xcaret, and Xel Ha.

I have had a wonderful stay at the Ocean Riviera Paradise - El Besos Section. I had the pleasure of enjoying privilege amenities during my stay, which felt like VIP treatment. Check-in was straightforward and they did us the service of delivering our baggage to our rooms via cart. We had a Butler assigned to us, Lily, as a Privilege amenity to handle everything from reservations to recommendations and advice. Lily was a rockstar, she even helped me get preferential rates when I decided to extend my stay a few days.

The staff across the resort are all very friendly. There are too many names to remember, and I really have to hand it to our swim-up bartenders especially, but I was most recently helped by Alexis in the privilege Lounge. As a waiter he was exceptional at tending to my glasses before they were empty and overall timeliness.

All of the meals (and drinks) I've had have been wonderful. The room service is very thorough with twice daily visits to turn the room, and while I have only run into them once in my 5 days here, the hotel provides door tags if you'd like to reduce the frequency of room service.

The resort is quite large. There is a trolley that goes up and down the central road - however the frequency leaves a bit to be desired so if you have mobility issues you should look into other accommodations such as scooter rental. The size makes plenty of room for pools and dining options though, and the walking has helped keep me in shape, so no complaints.

We chose this hotel for our honeymoon because it was advertised as “adults only,” but that was not our experience at all. The resort is very family-oriented, with children present in most areas.

There’s nothing wrong with that but it wasn’t what we expected or booked. Aside from one or two reservation-only restaurants and a single pool, nearly all spaces (buffet, activities, shops, main areas) were kid-friendly. It did not feel like a true adults-only environment.

We also had a stressful situation where we found a late-night note on our door about an “outstanding charge.” After calling, we were passed between multiple staff members and given conflicting reasons (broken mirror, stained sheets, unpaid room). The damage claims were false, but it turned out our room hadn’t been charged properly at check-in.

We booked through Expedia and were told multiple times it’s better to book directly to avoid issues. That may be true, but it shouldn’t impact the guest experience.

Also, the resort doesn’t show clearly on Uber/transport apps, and there’s another “El Beso” about 30 minutes away and easy to mix up when booking rides. This doesn't reflect on my review but just giving a heads up to other travels since it happened to us.

If you want a family-friendly resort, this may work. If you’re expecting a true adults-only, honeymoon-type experience, I’d recommend looking elsewhere.

I stayed at the El Beso and they really took care of us. We got a room upgrade, tshirts, and free champagne. They noticed my suitcase was broken and offered to give me a new one for free. I went very taken care of and able to relax. Property is huge and beautiful. There was a tram to take you around which was nice. Only thing is they have a few kinks to sort out. We waited over an hour and a half for the Mexican restaurant when we could see parties leaving and tables not being bussed and resat. Waited almost 2 hours to make an in person reservation at the hibachi restaurant. Only about 20 people were ahead of us in line so not sure why it took that long. Other than logistical stuff like that, this place was absolutely amazing, I would definitely return

This resort was advertised as an all inclusive Adult only resort and that is far from the truth. In reality you are a getting an Adults only dormitory, and adults only pool and swim up bar and 1 adults only restaurant. The rest of the resort is family friendly
The Night Life on the resort is also very lacking, after 6 pm almost every bar closes except for the Lobby bar a piano bar and a sports bar. ALL of these bars close at 12. So if you are going to drink and have a good night life experience, try going of the resort. The sports bar turns into a make shift club later in the night but it honestly isnt that entertaining. The Dj played mediocre music and I had to slip him a 20 for him to play more modern dancing music
Lastly, The beach. The beach is not really that great. Its pretty small and was covered with seaweed, which to be fair is not the resorts fault. When it gave to getting in the ocean, the beach was extremely rocky. Im not talking pebbles and shells, im talking about sharp rocks that you bump into and trip over in the ocean. I recommended water shoes but that still only gets you so far. I made multiple trips into the ocean to carry my friends out because i was the only one with water shoes
The rest of the hotel was pretty mediocre. The Buffet was okay. The drinks were good. And the rooms were fairly clean
The one thing that really shined was the staff. A lot of the staff would recognize me, remember my orders or give me recommendations on what to do or try

We recently stayed at this all-inclusive resort and overall had a good experience. The property offers a wide variety of amenities — multiple restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream stations, and shopping options. Having the beach right at the hotel was a huge plus and made everything very convenient and enjoyable.

However, our experience ended on a disappointing note. The day before our departure, we returned to our room and found chocolates left by staff — but unfortunately, there were roaches on the plate. This was very concerning and not what we expected from a resort of this level.

We reported the issue to the front desk during checkout. While the staff acknowledged it and said they would look into it, there was no real sense of urgency or effort to address the situation in a meaningful way. We had hoped for a more proactive response, especially given the circumstances.

Overall, the resort has a lot to offer, but cleanliness and guest service in situations like this need improvement

My wife and I are currently finishing up an amazing stay at Ocean Riviera Paradise – El Beso in Playa del Carmen, and we truly cannot say enough good things about this resort.

From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. The property is beautiful, extremely well maintained, and the adults-only El Beso section offers a great balance of relaxation while still having plenty to do. The food throughout the resort has been excellent with a wide variety of restaurants, and every meal we’ve had has been fresh and enjoyable.

The service here is really what makes the experience stand out. Every staff member we’ve interacted with has been friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. There has been entertainment and activities every night, so we’ve always had something fun to do.

One moment that really stood out during our stay was when our flight back to New York was cancelled due to bad weather. The guest services team immediately stepped in and helped accommodate our extended stay quickly and professionally, which took a lot of stress off our shoulders.

A huge thank you to the guest services staff, especially Fernando and management team for going above and beyond to make our stay memorable.

Five stars from both my wife and me. We are leaving tomorrow morning, but we already know we will absolutely be coming back and would highly recommend this resort to anyone visiting Playa del Carmen.

This resort is very clean. The staff were great and for an all inclusive the food and drinks were very good. You must go visit Franklin at the margarita bar. He makes the best margaritas! The only thing that makes not not give 5 stars for this resort is the beach. It is small and rocky but it would not stop me from going back. We had a wonderful time.

THIS HOTEL IS NOT ALL INCLUSIVE AS ADVERTISED. Nothing works, the staff is extremely rude. I booked a rooftop and they gave me a room that neither of the jacuzzis worked. So after complaining they finally switched to another room and neither one of those jacuzzis worked, Employee offered to bring buckets of hot water to fill the jacuzzi which is insane. THEH HAVE COCKROACHES, and the staff is constantly painting over mold that they have throughout the hotel. Have been to 30 plus all inclusive resorts and this resort is more like staying at a motel 6. Would never stay here again and if you have a reservation I hope you change it before they ruin your whole entire vacation. We met so many people on the trip that had the same issues and hotel staff did not care at all

Property was very very clean, and each staff member we interacted with was so sweet and helpful; especially the trolly guys. Our room was clean and pretty. Bed sheets had a stain on them, but we called right away and someone was at our room in under 10 minutes to completed change everything. We stayed in El Beso, but just a heads up that El Beso offers premium which lets you use the larger pool and nice beach chair areas. Restaurants were pretty good. Loved the short rib at Blue Moon. Drinks were fantastic and the pool bartenders (Louis in particular) were perfect. Buffet can be very overstimulating but offers a bunch of options, just avoid going during peak times (which they advised us of in advance). The beach was great, we got massages done right next door for cheap and they were right on the water which was lovely. Pool chairs, especially in EL Beso area, are all gone before 6:30 am as everyone goes out early and lays their towel down with clips or bands to reserve chairs so just be prepared. Gift shop is EXTREMELY over prices ($19 for a bag of gold fish) but I understand it's about convince more than anything. we bought a floaty there also and they happily inflated it for us. We wanted to extend our trip due to our flight being canceled but sadly they were fully booked. The trip was for my birthday and they made dinner reservations which was nice.

We did not get the room we booked. When we brought this up with the staff, they told us they don't sell beds, they sell rooms and views. The room we booked was a King Bed Junior Suite with Ocean View. We got a double bed with a slither of the ocean view above the trees. This also is not an \"Adults Only\" resort. This is a resort with a very small Adults Only section. They adults only restaurant hours were very inconvenient and the food was subpar. Just overall not what we are used. The one good thing is the staff was very friendly, although not very helpful during the stay when we needed something.

It started with a very enthusiastic greeting from Elias who went out of his way for the 9 days we stayed to take care of all us (3 couples) and ensure a seamless experience. The staff at the El Beso swim up bar were also amazing! The rooms were spotless and well maintained. The food in the buffet was varied and there was plenty of it at all times. The specialty restaurants were all delicious and menus were well planned and executed. We chose to enjoy the Valentines Day beach front evening dining experience and it was well worth it! All in all we had a wonderful time and will return to the Ocean line of resorts again and again(4th one in 2.5 yrs.)

This resort was very good! Best part was definitely that staff. Bartenders Samuel and Juan were phenomenal and fun! As well as Ken and Ruben from the Blue team.
The room was nice and clean.
The resort its self was very clean, inviting and fun.
The only reason it lost a star for me is because the food was hit or miss. For example Pez Vela was amazing but then I was not impressed by the mexican restaurant, Margarita. Maybe I just didn’t order the right thing, but that is my only gripe.
I went with my sister and I felt like there was decent adult only activities, but it is definitely a kid friendly resort so I’d definitely recommend for anyone with kiddos!

We booked this resort mainly because of the mostly good reviews we saw. We arrived (Jan28,26) and all seemed well with checkin and the room was OK. Nothing special. The resort was mostly younger couples with kids. The buffet was very noisy and the food selection was OK.
We tried booking some specialty restaurants on the first two days but ran into issues with the App not working.
On the second night our group of 7 went to the Mexican restaurant. That night I became violently ill consistent with food poisoning. The rest of the vacation was ruined as I couldn't eat as I was ill and didn't trust the food. Not sure if it was from the lunch buffet or the Mexican restaurant?
I did report my illness to the resort. I never did receive any promised report feedback.

My first travel out of the country. We were assaulted with so many people and sales pitch. They took up 2 hours upon arrival checking us in and grilling us about ourselves. We kept declining because we did not have a chance to experience the resort for even one minute. In exchange for meeting them for breakfast for a promised short 30 minute sales pitch I declined massages a piece of jewelry etc and asked for a lot of extra coffee supplies for our room. The presentation stole 3 hours of our first morning in Mexico. I had to end it at 11 am by just getting up and walking out. Trying to get me to commit to a 10 year commitment for over 60 grand while ruining my first morning without the benefit of experiencing the resort is not cool!! It did ruin my first day! I was so upset because I kept explaining that to them. I only had 2 full days there. Also- NO EXTRA COFFEE EVER SHOWED UP. Only one cup of coffee a day per person. That’s not all inclusive to me. I will travel to Mexico again but not to any resort affiliated with this one.

We really enjoyed our week in the El Beso section of ORP. I think that the washrooms needed more signage, like in the lobby they are tucked to the side and you cant see where they are if you are on the other side of the bar there.
The room had a bunch of little things incase we forgot to pack them (toothbrush/razor/sewing kit/q-tips/etc.) and that was a nice touch!
Easy check-in and checkout.
Long walk down to the rooms but there was a trolley you can catch which was great as well.
We didn't have anything bad to say about the place, we loved the Italian restaurant and all of the servers were awesome :)

The room was great and the staff were really friendly and attentive. There were 2 things though that got our attention:

1. The mini bar was limited to 2 beer per day and there was no option to stock it with something else. I dont drive beer but we couldn't get anything else ie: tequila. The ad said \"stocked mini bar\".

2. The resort was billed as adults only however it isnt. There is a building on the property that is adults only. The rest of the property \"which you have to interact with\" is family friendly. So that was a bit of a shock as it wasnt advertised this way in the listing.

It was advertised as adults only but it certainly wasn’t. Almost every meal and everywhere we went except around one pool we had children around us crying or screaming. We went to the resort because it was advertised as adults only we feel like we were deceived. We won’t go back.

This is not an Adults only hotel, It has adults only rooms and a pool! After a 15-hour journey, or a 70 hour stay I experienced significant delays accessing my room due to repeated issues with the room key, which required multiple trips to reception in high temperatures.
The first room assigned to me had a broken bed and a persistent damp odour in the room . After further delays another 3.5 hours I was moved to a second room, which was acceptable; however, the bathroom was in poor condition, with a broken shower and outdated facilities. Despite raising these concerns, I was informed that the hotel was now fully booked and no immediate alternative could be provided. Additionally, noise from a film projected outside my room was also not what I needed. I sent an email during the night to rate my checkin experience. Only then was I was eventually offered an alternative room late in the afternoon, but as I explained the timing terrible as I was leaving to go to a wedding at another hotel. Overall, this experience fell far below my expectations and was the most disappointing hotel stay I have had in recent memory. Even on checkout as I explained my issues I was told that \"some guests do not share you opinion\" Once again only in my opinion I have stayed at much better and not adults only.

We stayed at Ocean Riviera Paradise in the El Beso adults-only section and overall had a great experience. The resort is a good size — big enough to explore but not so large that you can’t walk everywhere. The property is very clean and well-kept, with lots of wildlife around, which gives it a nice tropical feel. Our room was cleaned daily, and the mini bar was always restocked, which we appreciated.

The staff were friendly and attentive throughout our stay, and service at the bars and restaurants was excellent. It never felt overcrowded, which made it easy to relax. There were plenty of dinner options, and we rarely ate at the buffet since the à la carte restaurants were so good. Our favorite was Blue Moon, which had great food for both breakfast and dinner, and the host there was always welcoming.
A big shoutout to Lisandro, our concierge, who went above and beyond. Our mini fridge wasn’t working on the first day, and he got it fixed right away, then surprised us with a bottle of champagne and desserts. He also gave us a helpful checkout tip that saved us time and money at the airport.
A couple of downsides — the beach is quite rocky, and there isn’t much space to relax by the water. Also, there are people around selling excursions and activities, but they’re never pushy and leave you alone if you say no.

Overall, the food, cleanliness, and staff made for a really enjoyable and relaxing stay.

Ocean Riviera Paradise El Beso – Honest Review

Overall, this resort has some nice highlights but also a few drawbacks. The rooms are spacious, modern, and very comfortable. The buffet offered a good variety of food, and the coffee shop and late-night snack bar (open until 6 am) were great perks. The margaritas at the Mexican restaurant were excellent — especially the jamaica margarita! The bowling alley was also a fun addition, even though playtime is limited to about 10 minutes per person.

The main disappointment was the beach — very small, with large sandbag barriers and cloudy water that took away from the usual Caribbean charm. Entertainment was not as organized or lively as other resorts, and the prizes for games were always just a T-shirt. The shows at nights were at a much lower quality compared to other resorts. The nightclub felt more like a sports bar, and the DJ stuck to the same playlist all night without taking requests. The worst was the constant pressure to upgrade to their “Privilege” package got annoying after a while. The resort seemed to catered to Privilege guests only.

In short, it’s a comfortable resort with decent food, great margaritas, and a few fun extras, but the beach, entertainment, and upselling take away from the overall experience.

I want to personally thank one staff member Lisandro for going above and beyond for making our trip extra special. It was my wifes first time to mexico and she was not happy with our room and we had some issues when we first reached out to expedia. But Lisandro turned it around and was able our stay excellent. Many staff members were also very kind. The buffet and food is actually good. Its hard for me as I do find places based on good food and they didnt disappoint. Probably the best food out of any resort Ive been too.

Pros: Nice rooms, lots of dining options with great food, great customer service at bars and restaurants.
Cons: entertainment wasn’t great, not many activities or shows. Was told non motorized activities would be free but kayaking was $12pp. There was also a lot of sales people constantly trying to get you to upgrade or buy a timeshare which was annoying.

Me and my family went for our annual trip and we were very appreciative of the room upgrade to include a swim out pool. We also had a concierge, Lisandro, that was absolutely phenomenal. He assured every day that me and my family had all our needs met and if we ever needed something he was very accessible via WhatsApp with a quick response. Other staff members that stood out for their lovely service were David and Zuleyma at Route 66. Overall we had a better experience because of their kindness.

I came from Chicago to visit this resort as a 1st time out of country experience and Lisandro was phenomenal, very welcoming, and extremely helpful. Everyday I was there he delivered top tier customer service, Lisandro is the main reason I have already referred so many people to take a trip to this resort, he is just overall amazing person.Also David from Route 66 was an outstanding waiter, he was very welcoming as well, he went above and beyond to make my family’s experience the very best and he did just that. We loved the property and amenities; the staff is very professional, and the service is great in all areas.
However, the specialty restaurants La Locanda & Steakhouse have very poor air conditioning inside, which makes the dinner experience super uncomfortably hot. Someone in our party even felt so bad that she could not finish the meal and had to step outside of the restaurant, it is a shame since we booked this hotel for a party of 6, and ended up having such a bad experience.

Booked the swim up pool room and loved it. Went for birthday and we told them and they sent complementary wine and chocolates and then again once we told them we got engaged! Reservation restaurants were okay but the portions are small and the buffet was not good. Same options for lunch and dinner and same every night. Only had like 2 main buffet lines that changed foods everything else was the same. When sitting at buffet we had to ask every time for water after waiting 5-10 mins. The adult side is very small. The swim up pool room is apart of adult only but they only have 1 small pool that is adults only. Literally every single thing else has kids and we were thinking it would be separate with kids and family one side and adults have their own side but no just one pool. Every restaurant but one breakfast one is family friendly so if you’re wanting separate adult and family resorts this is not that. A lot of the workers also don’t really pay too much attention and overlook English speaking families. And a lot of workers are racist. I’m white and my boyfriend is black and we got overlooked so many times even when we got to wherever before anybody else. Many times we’d be at the bar before other people and they wouldn’t come over and they weren’t busy but when other people white or Spanish speaking, would show up they would go straight to them and we’d have to ask every time to be helped and then they always had some attitude.

Property was nice and well kept. Unfortunately there is not much of a beach to speak of. Severely eroded when we visited in August of 2025. The Sargassum was definitely in full force as well, but that is out of their control. They worked diligently to remove it every day. Our swim up room was excellent, air conditioning worked well. We really enjoyed the food here, especially at the Buffet. The specialty restaurants were all a bit warm which made the experience less than enjoyable, but the food was good. The staff was extremely friendly and our Concierge Lisandro was great! He checked in with us numerous times and assisted with dinner reservations. Also a special shout out to Miguel at the el Beso swim up bar. He was excellent, remembered our drink orders when we came up each time and made a delicious margarita!

Room: Our fridge didn't work and it took three days to replace the fridge. One of the sink drains didn't drain properly, fixed on day two and our toilet didn't flush properly. Our door didn't close, unless we slammed it, because the door jam piece was bent.

We didn't realize El Beso was an ADULTS ONLY SECTION on the resort. We were also asked to take a one hour \"tour\", which was a huge sales gimmick and took 3 hrs. Even after this, people stopped us at breakfast, in the lounge, at the pool and in other areas to ask us to take this \"tour\". The constant hounding to purchase something got annoying and was not appreciated.

The food wasn't great. Everything in a sauce is cooked in the same red tomato sauce. Salt and pepper is not easy to find. The steak house was ok, because we ordered our steak medium rare. Crepes are good. All the seafood and meat, in every restaurant, was overcooked, it was chewy and not easy to eat.

The pool in El Beso was great, until it got busy. Once it got busy there were no lawn chairs to use. We tried to sit in the \"premium\" section, but got kicked out, because we weren't members. When we mentioned that there were no chairs available the guy told us \"too bad\" and made us move, however, another couple (not premium members) were able to stay. Staff throughout the resort was rude, except our maid.

The beach is covered in seaweed (not their fault).

Pros: quiet in El Beso. Good drinks. Easy to get around. Rooms were clean and quiet.

The property is beautiful, well maintained. The rooms are nice. The bed was not very comfortable. There was a roach in my room... Not happy about that but I did expect bugs.

I was disappointed in the service. There was an incident at one of the Eden pool where 3 of the guest, 2 guys and 1 lady consumed too much alcohol and clearly needed help. They were dehydrated it was too hot. The lady threw up on the ledge before she got out of the pool. the staff stood by and watched them and when we inquired about medical attention for them we were told there would be an extra charge for that. A few of us went into action to help them.

The in person restaurant reservation system for the Japanese restaurant is insane. The reservation stand is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. we waited in line for 30 minutes!

The best food on the resort is pez vela and blue moon (adult only guest) the buffet was good as well. I’m not a fan of buffets however they have omelet and pancake stations as well as foods from all around the world.

I was underwhelmed with the food at the steakhouse and Mexican restaurants.

We spent a lot of time at the piano bar in the main lobby. The service was amazing! Fun atmosphere. We did karaoke and played bingo. I had an amazing experience at the spa as well.

In most instances the service was good not great. The night before I left I arranged for bellman service at 9:30am. At 9:40am me, my luggage and bags trekked our way to the lobby.smh

Lisandro and Gercia, were attentive, kind and dedicated to ensuring our trip to Ocean Riviera Paradise (El Beso) was everything we wanted. The whole staff truly made our week in Mexico and my sister’s wedding a memorable experience. The resort is beautiful, the food is great and we would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to visit a resort near Cancun!
