This is a small well run beach hotel - we stayed in a bungalow right on the beach it was cosy clean and generally fab. Half board - the food was very good like being in a restaurant with no corners cut. The staff were always cheerful abd helpfull
We would happily stay here again and recommend it

We all loves our stay so much. Utter relaxation, great beach with loungers where you could order drinks and food. The staff was truly lovely. Room was clean and spacious. We couldn't have asked for anything more. And the food at the restaurant was actually good. I was a bit apprehensive due to the other reviews but breakfast had many options. Dinner offerd salad and soup every night, as well as multiple options for main course. Portions aren't huge but I didn't mind. The quality was really good and tasty.

Rooms were clean and all amenities in working order, we were in the hotel area. We had breakfast included in our stay and the food was very good. The prices for lunch or dinner are very high if you are wanting to stay at the hotel.I would pay half the price they ask for the same meal in Canada. We did not find any public restaurants within walking distance on the beach, so no other options for meals. Your only option is to eat at the hotel restaurant or go into playa del carmen by taxi.

Very nice hotel. Not cheap but that helps keep a good crowd. No visitors were rude or hollering, unlike other AI resorts. Beach was nice. Easy to find sunbathing chairs. Beachfront restaurant was fantastic. Food was great. Access to the hotel from the road is not great - road is bumpy and through a back alley. Staff was great. Polite, personable, friendly. Taco night and barbecue nights were fantastic. Need more dinner nights on the beach patio!!!

I come here for long solo vacation weekends. Great property. Amazing staff and the food is perfect. If you like to swim the water in front of the property is very rocky and not suitable for swimming but you can walk the shore and find better areas. I just need the occasional foot dip and for it to be pretty to look at, so perfect for me.

So i liked the staff, they are lovely and try to be as helpful as possible, the hotel does the job… and is romantic for couples but there are allot of things that need improvement…

1. Hot water is up and down, sometimes its barely luke walm sometimes a little just over luke warm in rooms…

2. The al-carte meals, pastries are nice and bread but we stayed two weeks and had allot of repeat meals which we wouldn't mind if they were delicious but portions are small, and main meals i am not gonna lie some if the worst i have tasted… their starter salads were nice, then their soups were touch and go often overly salted, most of the soups had doritos in them not a fan otherwise they would be a cream soup… main meals overly salted and could have been cooked with some flavour like garlic and lemon or something but just salty mostly… desserts and pastries were nice and they make their bread on premises…

Options for vegans or if you wanted something outside of the meals of the evening, no alternate options… they should have a menu to order… but prices for anything not included pretty hefty…

3. Limited entertainment options, would be nice if hotel had its own team renting out paddle boards water toys and things…

4. The beach itself not good for basic swimming but great for snorkelling its rocky and dangerous as we snorkled we spotted rays, rock fish and eales amongst that star fish, angel fish and many others…so be careful on this rocky beach… but if you like snorkelling its great…

We just spent a long weekend at Petit Lafitte and it was incredible! 🌴✨ We didn’t want one of those huge all-inclusive resorts, and this place was exactly what we were hoping for — intimate, peaceful, and full of charm, yet family friendly. Waking up right on the beach and being able to step just a few feet into the water felt like a dream. The beach is a little rocky right in front, but if you walk up or down the shore, you’ll find plenty of spots for a swim. The water is warm and it was such a treat to start the day with the sunrise and wind down with the sunset.

The half board option was an unexpected bonus that made things easy, especially since the hotel isn’t right in centro Playa del Carmen. Every meal was delicious, and the setting made it even more special. The staff were wonderful — so kind, welcoming, and incredibly hardworking. They’re there day and night, and it made us appreciate the experience even more, especially since this was a quiet and restorative getaway for us after working so much.

Rurik and Edgar kept the fun going at the bar, Anna at reception greeted us so warmly, Mr. Manuel and his restaurant team made meals memorable, and Alexandro at the gate added such a personal touch.

Petit Lafitte truly has a magic you don’t find everywhere. We honestly didn’t want to leave and can’t wait to return!

La Petite Lafitte hit all of the right buttons for my wife and me. It was quiet when we waned it to be and appropriately festive with a great day bay and music at dinner. The staff are what make a place special, and from the greeters to the wait staff and maintenance crew, they were all top notch friendly and always looking to make our stay perfect.

This hotel is a good value. The staff is friendly and attentive. The food was ok (breakfast and dinner). Small salad bar every evening before dinner. Two choices of entree. Most food was good. Pool was fine, just nothing fancy. Limited things to do in the area, so if you need nightlife and restaurants, it costs about $28-$30 each way for taxi to go to PDC. We had a relaxing time, for the money. Downside: expectation of tip every meal. Some areas of the grounds were in disrepair but they were working on it. Not sure about safety after dark so we didn’t venture far at night. Not a luxury resort but more of a low-key, granola type place, as we expected from other reviews.

We had a truly perfect stay! We booked a beachfront room, and waking up to the sound of the ocean each morning was absolutely magical. The service throughout our stay was exceptional—every staff member was warm, welcoming, and attentive. The food was outstanding, with a great variety of delicious options. Food isn’t the greatest. Unfortunately, can’t dine at other close restaurants unless you’re staying at the hotel.
The cabanas need some TLC, floors aren’t clean and bathrooms can use some remodeling.
Staff is attentive. When signing your receipts (after dining) make sure that if you are paying cash, DO NOT sign the receipt. While checking out of hotel, they were telling us we had a balance due for drinks. I specified that we paid drinks in cash. And was told we signed the receipt, well yes we did because we were told to do so!!
So, don’t fall for it.

Old they make or seem nicer online the staff replies for any concerns with a delay so if you need something you have to go to the reception to ask for it and to get out of the property then taxis are very expensive they do not offer any transportation to downtown

We enjoyed our recent stay at this hotel. The propery itself is just small compared to other resorts but it offers real value for money. The food was good at their restaurant and the facilities, even for a small hotel, are quite cozy and comfortable. We like the tranquility and the charming vibe that comes with this boutique hotel.

The location and the area around the hotel, however, is a downside. The area outside the hotel to the main roads is isolated and not well lighted at night. And the road to the property itself from the main road is mostly unpaved which reduces its appeal. Hope they can do something about this.

I would love to come back!

Loved, loved, loved the beach vibes here—so beautiful and relaxing. All the staff were super attentive and kind. One even made a little shade spot for us.

Not many people were swimming in the ocean while we were there. I’d definitely recommend bringing aqua shoes if you’re planning to go in.

The 8 a.m. yoga class was a big plus for me—it gave me something peaceful to do while my kid slept in, and the yoga studio was so calm and serene.

You’ll need a car to get around, but driving was pretty easy, even for my first time in Mexico. The highway’s in great shape, though the smaller roads can be pretty bumpy, so I’d suggest driving during the day at first just to get used to it.

Breakfast was delicious but definitely on the slower side, so be ready to chill and enjoy the relaxed pace.

I stayed in one of the buildings, and while the room itself was comfortable, we could hear everything happening at the pool. One night the hotel next door had a disco party that went on till 11 a.m.— Next time, I’d go for a bungalow for a bit more peace and quiet.

If I were to add a small “even better if”, would be a little refresh of the rooms. This is not a big deal though as you’re not spending too much time there - you enjoy the beach, the restaurant and outdoor seatings.

We had an incredible time staying at Petit Lafitte. The bungalows are lovely, quaint and sufficient. Some noise from neighbouring properties.
The staff at PL are the best. Friendly and welcoming, always available to help.
The beach is stunning but you can’t swim right in front. A short walk down to the nearby pier and swimming is great as well as snorkeling.
Lots of umbrellas available for guests which means lounging on the beach for the day was comfortable!
The food was pretty good and the drinks were fantastic.
We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this as a no frills and relaxing resort for anyone visiting the area.

This hotel is a hidden gem by the beach. The staff is always attentive to your needs and deserve our praises. The food and drink options were always top quality. Rooms and cabins are clean and well equipped. Cabins are a bit more rustic, but each is independent and provide a sense of being alone in paradise.

Our family is obsessed with this place. Three times in a raw we are coming back - the best option for the vacation with little kids, great food, f&b team is just the best. What I would like to improve that reception would be more friendly to the returning customers - we were never treated like we are returning guests - maybe plate with fruits or some nice letter that the hotel is glad we are back. Excessive tipping culture after every meal and service which can account for a hefty sum. Rigged monopoly overpriced taxi system associated with the hotel. Outdated meals and not the best drinks I’ve had in Mexico.

A beautiful property on the beach. If you want to relax and enjoy the sun, this is the place for you. It's quiet and serene. I loved that they turned off the music on the beach at request so that we can enjoy the quiet.

I love their gorgeous yoga studio and daily classes. Massage on the beach was amazing.

I really liked the general decor and vibe of the place. Really chic and natural.

Our family of 5 had the best experience at the hotel. The staff went above and beyond making sure we had everything we needed. The daily yoga was amazing. The bungalow , restaurant , and pool area was well maintained. The food was great and the whole family enjoyed themselves. It was our first visit to the area and we always felt safe on the property. The only downside was the area was isolated, where as we had to get a taxi to get to shopping or any off property location. Not a big deal though and it didn’t not ruin our stay at all.

This boutique hotel was such a wonderful find. The food is AMAZING, especially for a half board. I mean, I had one of the best paellas of my life, FILLED with seafood... couldn't believe this was part of the package. The drinks were also fantastic, their piña coladas were so delicious. Not too sweet, with a hint of freshly shaved cinnamon and dried pineapple as a garnish... 1000/10.

Their yoga studio is very cute, and I really appreciated the front desk letting me and my sister use it in the afternoon for pilates on our own accord.

My only two let downs were the condition of out room & some of the staff. We stayed in a room in the main building (not a bungalow), and the air filter in our bathroom was covered in mold. The daily cleaning was kind of done heartedly, even if we left tips. Staff was hit or miss - some were extremely friendly, others seemed like they wanted to be anywhere but here.

I will most likely be back - next time in a bungalow!

This is a wonderful, low-key boutique option for those looking to avoid the mega resorts. It is quiet and very peaceful. You really feel like you are tucked away in the jungle. The half board covers breakfast and dinner. The breakfast is buffet-style, and you can supplement the buffet offerings by ordering anything off the breakfast menu you'd like. They offer two entree choices for dinner. One evening they had taco night, which was set up like a street taco stand with many offerings in terms of meat and toppings. There was live entertainment every night. Drink prices are very reasonable. My wife and I charged the majority of our drinks during our five day stay to our room and in the end our drink bill was only $114 US. The beach is walkable for a long distance in either direction. If you go to the left you will encounter several larger resorts and restaurants. We rented a cabana with an ocean view, which I highly recommend. It was like being in a log cabin in the jungle. Getting to the hotel by rental car was a bit tricky without GPS (as our phones didn't work in Mexico except when connected to the internet.) We had to stop and ask for directions which was no big deal. The resort is several turns off the main road coming down from Cancun. They also offer Yoga and other wellness experiences. The staff is friendly and offer personal service that is not intrusive.

Be aware beach is not suitable for swimming at all

Deceptive details on Hotel´s information led us to reserve a \"beachfront\" hotel with appealing beach access in the pictures. Unfortunately, the actual beach doesn't resemble the photos, as it's not suitable for swimming at all, there are rocks with sea urchins. Our prepaid beach getaway turned out to be a disappointing expense.

Amazing little gem outside of Playa. Great alternative to the mega resort all inclusive. Our family of 5 (3 kids under 12) thoroughly enjoyed our week here and hope to be back soon!

Can’t put into words how great this resort is, we stayed here for four nights. We traveled as a family and we felt so safe, far from home. We did run into a small issue but was solved right away by management! Not sure why this place isn’t a 5 star resort. Breakfast and dinner are a plus!

Room: We stayed in a cabin was very clean and well put together. The air conditioner works great, I wish the room had a bigger restroom it was very hard to change. This room didn’t have an TV, but the other rooms that are not cabins do. There were insects like ants and mosquitoes inside the room everytime you would open the door but nothing to bad. Other than that it was great we felt like we were out in the jungle and had our own space. Great for families!

Staff: Incredible staff, they go out their way just to make sure you are taken care of. Most of the staff were very friendly, there are some that are not. However the best member of the staff was Martin. He was always making sure we were taken care of. He was always making sure we had a bite. After a long trip, we got to the resort late, we weren’t sure if we were able to go get served because we got there late. He made sure we had something in our stomachs.

Overall a great experience, especially because u are so close to the beach. Only 20 minutes away from Playa del Carmen city section. Would totally visit again!

Everything was beautiful and well kept . Excellent place if you want to relax and stay away from busy and crowed hotels . It’s a 10 minute ride to Quinta Avenida .
Breakfast and dinner were included and delicious! Drinks were great ! We will definitely come back .

Oh my gosh we loved this place!! Small, pretty, right on the beach, delicious food and friendly staff. Very nice layout, with the sea breeze reaching down to everyone. Breakfast AND dinner were included, which we didn't even realize. A long stretch of beach to walk in both directions with some good sandy swim areas very near by. What the \"old Playa\" used to be like, some said. We would definitely stay at this wonderful little spot again!!!!

Liked that it was a smaller property and not a massive monolith. Beach is a little rocky, like the rest of that area. Beach was well kept. Entertainment was excellent. BBQ night was awesome! Parking was a little tight.
