Food and staff were very good. The beach was pretty, but not great for swimming - a little rocky and a lot of seaweed that they did not clear. Enjoyed the stay. They did a Mexican carnival on Friday night that was a lot of fun. The adult pool was nice. Would not recommend MTS travel though for your to and from airport travel - the drivers were very nice but the customer service was not.

The resort grounds are absolutely amazing! This property exceeded my expectations! Truly unique and stunning! The wildlife wandering around really enhances the beauty! We booked select club on the adult side and had upgraded to the penthouse suite. The room was clean, but we were missing many items upon check in, including extra towels, coffee and toilet paper. We were also unable to reserve any restaurant reservations for our entire stay using their app. We had been introduced to Samantha an Expedia concierge upon our check in, who had offer her phone number in case we needed. We received our check in survey from Expedia and indicated what we were lacking. Samantha reached out immediately and rectified most of our issues including booking reservations for every night for us. She is amazing and super helpful! The wildlife at this resort was phenomenal! We had monkeys on our balcony every day! One monkey actually tried to climb in my husbands lap, then stole his hat!

This hotel is one of the better ones I have stayed in, in Mexico. I booked with Expedia, which I have done many times before, I was warmly welcomed into this large hotel complex although there was a bit of a wait to check in. Once checked in the concierge team whisked me off to my room which was very clean and tidy robes and slippers ready to wear. The hotel has an app which is simple to use an d book reservations in one of the 5 restaurants or there is the main buffet restaurant all open till 9/10 at night and then a taco bar which serves food and drink all the way through the night as well. If you are considering this complex as a family resort you should it has a main pool area, water park and 2 quiet pool areas for adults only. All the team were lovely and would do anything for you, this is a little gem in the jungle well worth a visit

The restaurant had to have reservations, whe we arrived we were given the wrong brochure. The brochure that was given to us was for the location in Cancun. So we were unable to mar reservations for any of the good restaurants! We found out from other people who were staying there, that you had to make reservations after midnight and there were a few open reservations. But the 2 restaurants we wanted to eat at, were all booked up. So we NEVER got to eat at either one. So we basically ate at the same3 restaurants the whole time we were there. We stayed 7 days and was hoping to eat at all 7 restaurants, but that wasn’t the case. It was almost like people made their reservations before they even arrived! It was very over crowded , with lots of kids everywhere! Said it was an adults only resort! Ya that wasn’t true! There was 1 pool and a separate part on the beach that were adults only!! We didn’t want to see or hear any kids on our stay and that wasn’t the case either!! I wouldn’t ever stay at this resort or any of their other locations ever again!! This was the worst stay we have ever been to!!!

This site does not allow enough characters to give an complete review. Within 2 days we wanted to leave but with it being New Year everything else was booked. From checkin it was clear we made the wrong choice. Our toilet was clogged on arrival. After calling twice and waiting hours, someone finally came left plunger at the door and walked away. Resort is beautiful, and the wild life especially the spider monkeys is the only pros. Everything else was a con. Food was often cold or lukewarm, even when made to order. Staff seemed uninterested, and we witnessed a server being rude and mocking a guest. Several areas smelled like sewage, which was unpleasant due to the open-air layout. We paid extra to stay over New Year but the festivities required additional fees, leaving the event mostly empty. Restaurant reservations were confusing and inconsistent. On New Year Eve, even the buffet required reservations, which no one told us. My wife skipped lunch and had nowhere to eat and room service was elite members only we were later told despite being told otherwise. At the taco restaurant my wife ordered cheese pizza. After 45 minutes, ham pizza arrived and we were told to “just take it.” Hot water was inconsistent, the room had only one small trash can, beach towels were hard to get, and WiFi non existent making using their app impossible. We paid for adults-only, yet kids were everywhere. The adult pool had no swim-up bar and no atmosphere. Prior negative reviews were all spot on.

Our stay at Sandos Cancún was truly a wonderful and memorable experience. From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations.

We absolutely loved spending time on the beautiful beaches — they were clean, well maintained, and had plenty of relaxing spaces along with exciting water activities. Our first snorkeling experience was unforgettable and something we will cherish forever.

One of the highlights of our stay was learning about the Mayan traditions through live performances and exploring the temples within the property. A special thank you to Francisca for introducing us to this beautiful culture and making the experience so meaningful.

We also had an amazing time on the canoe tour with Maria, who made it incredibly romantic by offering wine and sharing her knowledge about the mangroves and the stunning blue waters.

Another memorable moment was the cocktail experience at Cenote Crystal, arranged with the managers and directors. It was a unique and enjoyable experience, and we sincerely appreciated the effort put into making it special.

The food options were excellent, with a great variety of restaurants. We loved trying everything, but our absolute favorites were the Japanese and Brazilian restaurants. The Mexican taco spot became our go-to place for snacks and drinks. The staff across all restaurants were amazing friendly, attentive, and welcoming.

Overall vacation was good.
We love this particular resort for so many reasons!
Grounds are beautiful and have so many hidden areas to explore!
98% of stuff was great!!!
Food and drinks never disappoint.
The beach is getting much much better after years of sea weed problem.
They for sure can improve check in experience for their guests by not keeping people standing in line for a long time.
One more time - great place for entire family to enjoy nature and services!

Room was fine space wise we had a penthouse suite but the outside tub was filthy and when we did get it cleaned it did not fill up and the jets were filled with red ants. Our toilet was dirty on day one and stayed that way all week. Probably the biggest disappointment was the food it’s like no one ever tastes anything, absolutely no flavor. Will not return

Upon check in they let me know that half the restaurants and pools were closed due to construction, My “Select club Adult only Penthouse Suite” sections were also closed.

They then moved us to a family penthouse and we lost most of the “Select club” privileges..besides a pop up “adult only” (that had plenty minor) pool. A beach club bar and 2 restaurants to have breakfast at out of the 6. The staff did not seem to care, I asked why i was never notified and they blamed expedia. When I contacted expedia they let me know they were never informed anything about the closures at Sandos and that Sandos was refusing to reimburse or credit me more my losses.

The food was not very appetizing, My partner got food poisoning for 3 days.

They had some great bar tenders that gave amazing service, but unfortunately most workers weren’t that kind or seemed happy to be there.

They had a lot of wild animals on site, Including some Donkeys in a farm pen. One evening My partner, a bystander mother and son and I witnessed three women giving the donkeys beer to drink out of their cups.
We asked them to stop, as that’s animal cruelty. They responded “we always feed our donkeys at home beer”
We immediately went and told the front receptionist about what had just accrued and all they did was shrug.

Our air conditioner was broken for 7/10 days we stayed. We asked 4 times for it to be fixed and when I then contacted the expedia rep she said she only saw the work order requested once.

This was my 2nd time at Sandos Caracol and overall i was very happy with my stay here. The staff are wonderful and the property was clean. They were also mid upgrades/rennovations on several areas of the property, i assume because it is their low season. My complaints were as follows:
1. The bed in our penthouse room was no softer than the floor and I had to sleep on the daybed for most of the trip otherwise i was in pain the next day.
2. The people trying to sell things on the beach....massages, bracelets, more massages...it made sitting on the beach unenjoyable
3. The music at the (temporary) adults only pool as well as KIIN was 24/7 techno type music and the beat sounded exactly the same for every song and that got old really quick.
4. Rennovations to the select club section meant that the Brazilian BBQ restaurant was closed and thats one reason we chose this resort, but the other a la carte meals were fantastic!

The resort is beautiful, especially the beach, adult pool, and cenotes. However, I wasn't impressed with the rooms. We had a broken air conditioner and broken safe. They did not have great soap, shampoo, or toilet paper - and they were very stingy with washcloths.

The staff at the beach was amazing - bringing us food, drinks, etc. I just wish the staff for the rooms was decent too. They did not fix our air conditioner for us, and one day they didn't even clean our room when we put the room cleaning sign up.

-If you take the Welcome Packet, they will try to sell you a time share.
-No drawers in the room, so you can't really unpack and need to live out of your suitcase all week.
-A lot of walking required.

Good property and staff. You can get restaurant reservations through the app. The senote by room 63 is the best one if you want a peaceful environment to reflect. The lis iridos resturant has great steaks, i would recommend. The brazillian steak resturant is also great. The buffet can be hit or miss but generally its not bad. Nidos has good tacos and its open 24/7. I would recommend red salsa for spice lovers

Upon check-in, select club members are walked around some buildings to a checkin office that was air conditioned with snacks and drinks, which was nice.
The room was already cool with its own ac unit on the wall which cooled you to the bone, if that was your preference.
Plenty of towels. There was no bar soap or conditioner just body wash and shampoo dispensers in the shower. The odd thing was, the showerhead faced the glass shower door. If you turned it all the way up, it literally flooded the bathroom. You had to set the pressure to not hit the door which provided lackluster pressure. The beds were on the stiff side, yet comfortable. The three pillows per bed were fine. The room fridge was stocked with beers and water and there was a 5 gallon filtered water dispenser on the counter. Umbrella, safe, ironing board and iron in the closets.
There was constant cleaning and blowing of leaves going on to keep the grounds tiny.
Maps of the resort were adequate.
There was some changes in show location which one has to simply figure out.
The bar tenders poured good drinks.
The food, generally, wasn’t great. I found a few items at the buffet that were alright and simply ate those.
The teppanyaki restaurant was noisy and over salty due to all of the soy sauce. The food was mediocre but tasted fresh.
Italian was closed for slow season.
The Brazilian restaurant, which was by the adult pool, was alright. Meat a fish restaurant was our favorite.

This resort gives you both beach front access with lounge beds, hammocks, and chairs. 9 resturants, 7 bars, and 3 pools. There is so much wildlife all over. The resort is large with at least 15-20 different activities to do every day and its all included. The shows every night are a hit. The rooms are clean and roomy with a stocked mini fridge. The staff are fantastic and accommodate every where they can. There are extra perks booking adults section through expedia here like private concierge.

Its a tale of two at this resort. Its both great and terrible. The area is beatiful, and our room was pretty good.

Now for the negatives. No where when booking did they tell you that you get a limited number of dinner reservations, you dont get 1 per night. You have to book the reservations on a terrible phone app. The reservations arent open until midnight so you have to stay up.

Other problems with the food- the \"late night snack bar\" is horrible. The only food available is tacos, but they were consitently out of toppings.

Upon arrival we were practically forced to sign up for a timeshare presentation- it wasnt presented as optional.

I was double charged for a romantic dinner. We did it one night and upon checkout there were 2 charges for it, both for the same night. We checked out in the morning before dining services were open so couldnt even argue because we had to catch our shuttle.

Loved Sandos Caracoal Eco Resort. Staff was nice. Lots of options and loved all the nature, animals and options ON site for adventures! Loved swimming in the cenote . Not the best beach for swimming but the property makes up for it. The app was a little fickle, but a really cool feature to book reservations day of for dinner and communicate needs to service desk. Anytime we had an issue in the room (blow dryer didn’t work and safe had low battery) they fixed things really fast! The Mediterranean restaurant on the beach and the Mexican buffet probably had the best food all around! The teppanyaki place was pretty good too! I loved having so many activities and different night time activities to see and shopping on site. Is like its own little town! We would love to go back with our kids some day

Great place to vacation, everything you need is right in the resort. You have no reason to go outside the resort unless you want to explore in town. We were here for five nights six days and had a wonderful time. My granddaughter was married here and we all traveled for the wedding. There was 40 of us and I made great accommodation so we could all get together. Thank you to all the staff.

All of the dinning options include children. There are no adult dinning option other than room service. The staff at the al a cart options are not adequate they need more. The buffets are nicely staffed, but very crowded.
The signs around the property are very vague. Be prepared to walk a lot.

Went for a wedding. Got violently sick on day 2, the resort had a doctor on site who confirmed it was food poisoning. 44 out of the 50 people attending the wedding got sick. We talked to other people not in our group and they were also sick. People also got bed bugs. The resort refused to take accountability. If you want to get sick and get bed bugs go ahead and stay here!

Been to MANY all inclusive resorts in Mexico and by far the worst experience from the pool bar to the lunch restaurants. We waited at the taco bar for 30 minutes and were never even acknowledged while others were served food and left. All bar staff especially the pool staff were unhappy. Any time you asked for a shot they were annoyed. The drinks and food were the worst we have had. You are only able to book one dinner restaurant every 3 nights you are there so if you stay 5 nights you must eat at the buffet 4 nights! Pool entertainment was great! Foam party was so fun! Overall not a good experience.

We stayed in the Select Club, Adults Only section. We liked that the Adult’s pool is out of the way, only has adults going to it. Our room was 3 min walk to the pool. Chairs were easy to get. Pretty quiet. The Foam, Pool party is fun on Saturdays.

We had no problem booking restaurants. We ate at the Steakhouse, Mediterranean, Japanese and Brazilian Restaurants. We didn’t care for the Mediterranean, liked the Steakhouse the best. We had to leave the Brazilian because we were getting eaten up with bugs. We liked having breakfast at the Brazilian restaurant in the Adults section, but quit eating there because of the birds. The birds walked all over the food in the buffet. They would take food repeatedly off the buffet and off of people’s plates. It was disgusting. They need to do something to keep the birds off the food. We ended up going to the Mexican restaurant for our breakfasts. A little walk, but very clean and always great service. They have food carts, outside along the main walkway on Fridays for dinner. This was fun. There are vendors, Mexican dancers and activities for kids. Nice, festive way to enjoy the evening.

The resort is in the jungle and has a lot of wildlife. The monkeys are fun to watch. It has a number of Cenotes on the property, one you can swim in. It also has a couple of ruins on the property that you can go to.

We have been to this resort and a number of other resorts in Mexico. We will come back to this resort in the future.

She also expedited two different times when door was locked and not working. She also was able to have ice delivered to our room quickly vs calling the front desk. My wife and I visited. We found that it is a dated resort geared to tamily with mid-range kids. We found the food in the buffet was okay; something tasted strange; no one got sick, so that wasn't it. The most annoying part, is that once we got to the resort, they had salespeople already attempting to sell us time shares, and wouldn't accept no. We just got there and they are trying to sell us a resort we haven't had the experience to enjoy or not.

If you want a resort that is stunning and full of nature, this is a good place. But it is a complete scam in terms of activities. The only water activity that is included is snorkeling and kayaking, everything else you have to pay for and it is VERY expensive. There are a lot of hidden costs. In terms of food, it’s nothing special, and you only get to make 2 dinner reservations for your overall stay. So if you are staying for a week, you can only have dinner at a nice restaurant for 2 nights. Rest of the days, you have to eat at a buffet. This place is definitely not worth your money, and is a scam.

The property was very nice and the staff were amazing. the only negative we really have was the beach is eroding but that is just due to the earth. Also stay off the beach after 4:00pm and before 9:00am the sand fleas are insane and leave you with little red bumps. Once again that is nature

This is a very difficult review because certain areas deserve 5 stars and certain areas deserve 0 stars.

Let’s start with the positive:

-Waitstaff and bartenders deserve 5 stars. They are SUPER accommodating and always were happy to see you. They make your experience amazing and I can’t compliment them enough.

- The food options were also a 5 star. So many options and so many different styles that we didn’t feel bored during our week there.

- the room is both a 5 star and a 0 star. But, for the sake of being organized, I’ll list the positives here. The Adults Only “Select Club” was the way to go. The suite had more than enough space for the two of us between the day bed, the bedroom, the lovely tub on the patio, and the oversized shower. We loved the room and already miss it!

The negative:

- our A/C was leaking from the moment we got there. It took FOUR reports across four days to finally get it fixed, after three maintenance visits. We had to use all of our towels to control the leaks from BOTH A/C units. That’s where the 0 stars comes in.

- management gets 0 stars. After informing the Concierge that my wife slipped and fell because of the leaking A/C, they made no effort to reach out. At all. They know that you signed a waiver and do not care. I am very disappointed as a property manager, myself, at their total lack of effort.

Overall - it was good for the cost. Difficult to recommend, purely because of the management and lack of care on their part.

I really liked the eco atmosphere. It was very fun! We had the adult only section booked, so as soon as we arrived we were able to reserve our dinner plans (2 restaurants our of our 4 nights). I read many reviews that said this was a pain to do, but apparently when booking with Expedia you get to do this right away. We got red wristbands that allowed us in two extra areas--one pool and one on the beach. This was nice and secluded. There were also gold and black wristbands that I think allowed for one extra pool area.

The only reason i gave 2 stars is because the restaurants staff were the best. The rest is awful. Bathrooms in rooms dirty, especially behind the toilets, floors sticky, TERRIBLE FOOD and the list goes on.. however, the absolute worst part was the airport transfer - they had our flight info and everything they asked for, our flight is at 6:20pm, they show up at 7:45am (not exaggerating) and because we didnt show up at that time, we were charged 60 USD no show fee!!! Airport transfer was thru the resort, with seek n go.

I was evicted arrested robbed for smoking on my patio 3 days of checking. Was told I was able to get a room when released. Had to pay other property for somewhere to live. Slept in my car 4 out of 10 days

This is a great resort if you like walking trails, nature and wildlife. Not so great for swimming. Beach is nice but the water is basically unswimmable, just too many rocks, my boyfriend cut himself tripping on them. Food was great too, not 5 star but lots of options. Its huge and we got lost often the first few days but once you get used to the layout its easy

Nature is amazing.

Worst resort ever

It was a terrible experience even though we was there during there storm. Upon arrival i was told that there will be no liquor intil sunday. Mind you this is thursday qhen i checked in and i was leaving on monday. Asked how am i going to be accommodated for this since this is an all inclusive resort. I was then told i need to take that up with my travel agent. So that night the storm came through and the room flooded. So i went to the front desk and they changed my room to a smaller room and in the kids area where i paid for a penthouse and in the adult area. I was told i would have stay in that room that night and deal with it. So the next day they moved my room to a room with no electricity and was told again to deal with it. I was only there for 4 days and that is what i had to deal with. Now my cousin was there and was in a flooded room with no electricity for the whole 4 days and they told him that there was nothing they could do for him. The food is nasty. I would not recommend this to anyone. Then the animals are everywhere and very disrespectful.

We stayed here in April 2018 and I would have given 5 stars for everything back then.
I wish I had taken notice of the more recent reviews though.
Food weren't fantastic, it was ok but there is only really the one buffet restaurant and this is only open at select times and this time of year it is busy!
The senote in 2018 was easy to enter (no lining up or booking it) and it was mainly used for snorkeling, which was great. This time of year, if you are lucky to be able to get into it, its used mainly as an extra pool, lots of dive bombing of the deck area and such, not much snorkeling going on.
My bad for booking for this time of year and not doing the research!
If you want to truely enjoy this property and don't like crowds, I'd suggest booking early or later in the year for sure!....the wildlife is plentiful here though which is really nice to see

The property itself is amazing. However, we booked the adults only section and were consistently treated like children. You can’t get a drink in the adults only section after 5. You can’t get a drink out of the tiny clubhouse without being fully dressed even though it’s pool side, we also were made to leave the pool at 830 even though it closes at 10. I’m not sure why we paid more for the adults only when we really had no extra luxuries besides not having any kids around.

The Eco aspect was pretty cool however the aging property shows its age with broken walkways, sunken access and trip hazards.

It was a little strange how early the bars closed and how often they ran out of ice. Also the warm beer was definitely an issue. The only ice cold beer was from our rooms bar fridge and our trip to Cozumel.
We paid for the Adults Only side that is supposed to include Select Club check-in however we were turned away when we got there because he was closing. They sent us back to the main lobby to get in line for the general check-in. That's not a big deal but very inconvenient for our older family members with limited mobility.

We arrived at 8:30 PM and where not told we could not check in at the Adult Only check in as they where closed but we where staying that area.
We where in the Adults Only area of the resort, there is no buffet for evening supper forcing you to the regular buffets with all the kids running around.
At night you had to go to the regular bars or all the way to the beach for a drink.
You can only book A La Cart resturants on the day you want to go forcing you to stay up past midnight and then using there app that most senior's do not now how to use.

This is a very large resort and lots of walking is required. Very quiet at night, no real place to sit and have a nice drink after hours. Pretty much a ghost town after midnight. They are very happy to give rides if required and staff will a friendly!

Check in took over 3 hours! And it was difficult to make reservations at the restaurants.
The property was great but it's huge. We stayed in the adults only section and it was a long walk to meet up with family members with kids.

The resort property was amazing with lots of native wildlife and beautiful plants. Very much enjoyed the adults only sections and the food was good. Only complaint was the difficulty getting reservations, particularly difficult at the fogo de Brazil and teppanyaki restaurant, a separate reservation process and huge lines in the heat. Other reservations cannot be made a head of time and had to get on the app at midnight to find availability. Staff was very friendly and a special shout out to Ignacio at the adults only bar on the beach!

Might want to control wild animal population. Buffet was filled with chaos…rude visitors, rude kids. Would be nice to have another buffet for adult only side. Food was better at the adult pool side but every meal, breakfast and lunch took an hour or more. My wife and I have been to many parts of Mexico and this was the worse resort we have been too. Spend your money elsewhere…

There was no hot water multiple days and the whole resort smells like sewer, the food in buffets is terrible and often not at proper temps and no labels! There is no traditional Mexican food whatsoever. Not even rice and beans. Staff doesn’t speak fluent English. We had a flight cancel and we called they said they would hold the reservation and we showed up they said we got marked as a no show! The cenotes are man made and you must wear a life jacket which are all broken buckles and in poor condition. Flies in food everywhere and the drinks are sugared up. Kids in adult only areas and food was left out all day and horrible! You must stay up till midnight to possibly get a booking in the restraints or wait in long lines to book only two days in advance. We booked a 10 day stay and left after 6 to another hotel. Nothing is as advertised! Do not go here! We have been trying to get a refund for our days we left and we are struggling to even have someone call us! You cannot get room service or anyone on the phone. We tried to get room service and had to call bell boy and then got reprimanded by the food service ppl when they called us and then waited an hour and a half for very very unappetizing food most days there was no bread or coffee and other amenities that should be provided at an all inclusive save your money. Do not stay here.
