We stayed in the villas for our 6 year anniversary. We figured that we would pay the extra to have what we thought would be a fantastic time. Upon arrival we were escorted to our room after check in. First thought when we entered the room was wow this is really beautiful! As we stepped into the room it felt really nice compared to outside. However once the employee left us to our room, we noticed that we hadn't quit sweating since being in the room. Checked the thermostat and set it to 18 degrees Celsius which was the lowest setting. Still no air movement. We decided to have a drink out of the fridge and unfortunately all the drinks felt warm to the touch. Again we set the fridge to the coldest setting but still no cold drinks. That evening we went to shower before dinner and waited 15 minutes for the water to hopefully get warm. Unfortunately it never did get warm. We called the front desk multiple times and they came out to check on our complaints. After 5 times of them coming out and telling us there was nothing wrong we asked to change rooms. They claimed all the other villas felt the same way so they wouldn't move us to those rooms. Instead they offered us a downgraded room on the beach next to 2 miles of rotting seaweed which smelled terrible. We was also told we would lose access to our private pool, private bar and all the other amenities we paid for. They offered no refund option and said we could change resorts. So we stayed in our villa and made the best of it.

We had a wonderful stay at this resort overall. The food and drinks were excellent, and the pools were beautiful and enjoyable throughout our vacation. The breakfast buffet was one of our favorite parts of the day, and the servers there provided outstanding service. A special shoutout to Hector at the breakfast buffet for his friendliness and excellent attention to guests.

The à la carte restaurants were amazing, with great food and service that exceeded our expectations.

There are a couple of areas that could be improved. More umbrellas around the pool areas would provide much-needed shade, and additional staff around the pools would help improve service during busy times.

One thing future guests should be aware of is the membership sales representatives. They can be very persistent and, at times, follow guests around the resort trying sign you up for a breakfast so they can tell you about their memberships. A less aggressive approach would make for a more relaxing vacation experience.

The only disappointing experience was with the concierge on the afternoon of Saturday, June 13. We found them to be unfriendly, rude, and unhelpful, which did not reflect the high level of service we experienced from the rest of the staff.

Despite this, we had a great vacation and would recommend this resort for its excellent food, drinks, restaurants, and overall atmosphere.

Me and my wife just travelled to this resort for our honeymoon. This trip was by far the best trip both of us have been on due to the resort. Everything was amazing and looked even better than the pictures!! The only two things we would have liked to have been a little bit better was the reservations for dinner. A lot of them on the day we arrived were already booked a couple days out. Also the beach was not ideal due to the sea weed but we understood that was not an issue the resort can control. Other than that everything else was perfect and we were for sure be returning.

We stayed at Grand Sunset Princess from June 12 to June 17, 2026, and unfortunately, this was the worst resort experience I’ve ever had.

Our problems started immediately after check-in. We were not taken to our room until the shuttle was completely full. It felt like guests were not welcomed at all. Most of the staff seemed irritated and showed very little interest in doing their jobs.

After waiting about 15 minutes and asking when we would finally be taken to our room, we were eventually transported there. However, our luggage was left at the reception desk.

We waited nearly two hours for our bags. Eventually, we went back to the lobby to find out what was happening. A staff member with a very unfriendly attitude carelessly threw my suitcase into the shuttle. We got in as well, and he ended up dropping us off in the wrong location.

I should also mention that we were not offered any welcome drinks, which is normally expected at a 5-star resort.

As a result, our first day was completely ruined and left us with a very negative impression.

The rooms themselves looked decent and relatively modern. However, there were some strange design issues. For example, in some bathrooms the door opens inward and nearly hits the toilet seat, making it very inconvenient for larger guests.

The pool closest to the beach was extremely dirty. There were constantly cups, debris, and dead insects floating in the water. Pool cleaning usually started around 11 AM, when many guests were already

This was my first time staying at a resort, and overall it was a positive experience. The staff were exceptionally friendly, courteous, and helpful throughout my stay. Concierge staff were always available, checked on planned activities, and provided useful information.

There were a few issues during the visit. The air conditioning in my original room was not working properly, but staff promptly resolved the problem by moving me to another room. Some staff provided unclear directions around the property, and there were occasional TV channel and internet connectivity issues, though I did not report those concerns. Restaurant reservations still involved waiting to be seated, and an out-of-service elevator created difficulties due to my leg and hip issues.

Rain made the marble floors slippery, although caution signs were posted. Some activities and a planned tour were canceled due to weather conditions. Parts of the property showed signs of wear and could benefit from repairs and better-marked trip hazards.

Despite these concerns, the outstanding service from the staff made the stay enjoyable. Overall, it was a good first resort experience.

Room: we were a family of 5 in a family room. The room has barely any storage, so it was pretty hard to unpack our clothes for one week. No dressers. The bathroom has just one hook, so it is difficult to hang the towels, robes, etc…
Bed was comfortable and they gave us enough shampoo, conditioner, etc..room was clean and enjoyable

Pools: we were at the waterpark section most of the time…the water is very chlorinated, and kids weren’t allowed with goggles on the slides which was unfortunate.
Pool was clean, but many of the small tiles were missing, and needs repair asap…

Restaurants: very nicely designed. Food was ok, not bad at all, but also not the greatest…
Speciality restaurants aren’t labeled and sometimes hard to find..
bars, coffee shop, has no menus and staff isn’t helpful. You either know what you want or have to go on their app to find the menu..

Animation: not the best… if you are at the waterpark, nobody will approach you to participate in anything. They have activities on the app, but they don’t get people to play, so the activities actually don’t take place (volleyball, ping pong, etc..)
Night shows are nice

Beach: HORRIBLE…they had a tractor on side but did not use it. So much seaweed, nobody cleaned it. Saw nobody at least try. Smell was unbearable. They had another access to the beach from the chill out place, and they would no allow guests through. There was no smell there. They made us walk through the main walk which was disgusting.

It’s a big property and not enough carts to take you around. Room service charges you 30$ USD for a ham and cheese sandwich.
No beach cause of the seaweed.

I’m so glad I didn’t listen to the negative reviews I came across on this website. This has truly been the best vacation I’ve ever had. The people, the food, the resort everything was impeccable and absolutely amazing. It was a lot, a lot of sargassum in the beach but to be honest it didn't bother me because everything else was AMAZING!

My son’s 10th birthday was honestly the best trip of his life, and I say that as someone who has traveled quite a bit. They made his birthday so special that it’s something I will always remember.

I love Mexico this was my first time visiting, and I will definitely be coming back again. I’ve already told all my friends about this place because it really is incredible. Thank you so much for everything!

The room was clean, everything physically was pretty. The pools and waterside looked nice. There was activities for kids. The staff was so weird. They seemed annoyed for even ordering part of the all-inclusive menu or drinks. Different staff gave different information about the things we asked, there was no consistency in their answers. The “snack bar” is a sports bar and the food was terrible while the lady along with some of the other employees that were there at nights serving 6/01/2026 - 6/03/2026 gave the worst service I’ve ever seen. Never again.

We had an absolutely incredible stay at this resort in Mexico—truly a 5-star experience from start to finish. The property itself is beautiful, spotless, and perfectly maintained, with amazing pools, great food options, and plenty to do whether you want to relax or stay active.

What really set this trip apart, though, was the Family Select experience—especially the butler service and swim up room. The pools were immaculate and so relaxing. It made everything so seamless and stress-free. From helping with reservations and organizing our daily plans to checking in regularly and going above and beyond for even the smallest requests, the butler team was exceptional. Traveling with family can sometimes feel hectic, but they made it feel effortless and elevated the entire vacation.

The staff across the resort were warm, friendly, and genuinely attentive, always going out of their way to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. You can tell they truly care about creating a memorable experience.

We would absolutely come back and highly recommend this resort—especially if you’re considering the Family Select upgrade. It’s worth every penny for the added comfort, service, and overall experience.

There is plenty of animals on the property, they are wild animals but won't approach you or attack. Also, there is many no feeding the animals signs. The property is huge, have many activities, good music and a lot to do around. The staff were super friendly, welcoming, helpful. I would definitely come back and recommend to others.

Buffet was okay; not as great as the hotel buffets I’ve been to.

Staff was wonderful; Lupita at the pool serving drinks was a doll! Only 2 staff members who were rude on separate occasions (one at waitress at Hibachi restaurant and one bartender pool side).

Beach was full of sargassum. Very sad and disappointing. We intentionally booked a hotel on the beach as it’s super convenient with kids and we love spending 80% of our time on the beach. I know of other people who visited the same area but stayed at a different hotel and they were able to swim in the beach so I don’t know if this particular hotel doesn’t want to go through the cost and hassle to clear the sargassum. There were MOUNTAINS of it.

Make sure you LOCK your balcony door. The animals are able to open them. :/

Kids club and ladies there were amazing with my son. They offer to play with the children, show them how to play games, and make crafts. Sooo sweet.

This is a great hotel if you love huge resorts (I do not) and if you are looking for a budget friendly resort. Definitely not up to par to others in the area. Although the rooms were kept clean and the staff was wonderful, I would not stay here again.

Everything from check-in to check out was great. The resort is nice but they need more activities. The pools were Awsome never had to look for a chair. Food was good but need a little more variety like themed evenings. Breakfast was Awesome, Teppanyaki was a no-go food was way too bland they need more Asian spices and Miso Soup! The other restaurants on site were so-so! But all in all,I would return.

We stayed in a Laguna Suite, and the room itself was very nice. Unfortunately, the air conditioning did not work well, which made our stay less comfortable than expected.

Our concierge was not very helpful and failed to inform my wife that she was entitled to a complimentary spa service as part of our package.

The check-in process was also quite frustrating. It was lengthy and disorganized, and we had to have our room keys reprogrammed three separate times before they worked properly.

While the accommodations were enjoyable, the service and check-in experience fell short of our expectations.

I loved staying at the Princess, I previously stayed at the one in Punta Cana so I was so pleased that Playa Del Carmen was even better, the staff was so pleasant and inviting. The food is great, I love how they incorporate authentic Mexican dishes as well as many other cuisines. The only downside was the sargassum, the beaches were dirty and we were able to swim, that was a huge bummer for me. I really wish the resort made a bigger effort to try and clear it from the sand or have some barriers but I guess you can’t do much about Mother Nature.

In my opinion you get to a resort to enjoy on the 1st day as soon as you are checking in they want to have a \"talk\" to sell a vacation club and insist the next day with their supervisor even when you say no thank you is not a relaxing trip. Overall, we had a great experience in regards to what the resort had to offer. We enjoyed all our meals, the pools, the shows, but most of all the newly renovated rooms! However, be weary of seaweed season! It completely engulfed the beach, smelled of rotten eggs, and we were not allowed to dip in. Nonetheless, that is not a fault of the resort but the season.

I stayed at the Grand Family Princess Sunset! It was upgraded all the rooms were refurnished and redone. My kids loved this place from the swim out pool, bunk beds, to the kids pools, and the kids clubs. The a la carte restaurants were designed really well, and the food was incredibly good. I was also impressed by the shows, all the dancers were professionals and live entertainment had everyone clapping. I would definitely come back to this resort. There were pools everywhere, and the main lobby was large, impressive and designed well.

I thought this property was so unique in the fact that every day I saw a variety of animals roaming the property. From raccoons, coati, monkeys, iguanas, lizards, and even stags, does and their babies…every day was a delight. The property was excellent. The food was phenomenal. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The only negative we had in our week was the.sargassum and that was on mother nature, absolutely nothing to do with the hotel). I would 100% return to this property. It was a fabulous week and I would recommend it to anyone. In fact, I took pictures of the kids zone to share with my family so that they may take advantage of this terrific hotel.

This is an amazing all inclusive for families and couples and even for a solo trip.

The resort is kept very clean. Staff is always welcoming, friendly and very helpful.

The check process was very smooth. Ricardo was great and took the time to explain everything to us.

The newly renovated rooms are absolutely breath taking. Beds are super comfortable and the pillows are amazing. House keeping does an amazing job everyday keeping the rooms clean and ensuring that we had enough towels and products during our stay.

The resort has three major pools. One when the water sides and a kid area, and two huge pool areas with swim up bars. All were kept clean, easy to get towels and the drinks were great.

There is a main buffet for breakfast and lunch. Absolutely great and a huge variety. You can eat there everyday and not have the same thing twice. For dinner, there’s 7 restaurants to choose from. Just make sure you make your reservation at the concierge desk. Magdanela is there and she is fabulous. Took the time to explain all the different restaurants and what they offer and she can also make any special recommendations and requests you may have happen. I was able to plan a wonderful birthday dinner for my wife and have a cake come out at the end. All thanks to her! Also there is an all you can eat ice cream bar.

We stayed at this resort for 4 nights. The staff was very friendly, the food was delicious, and the drinks were okay, although the cocktails were too sweet for my taste. We came mainly for the beach and understood it was sargassum season, but we were very disappointed that the beach was not cleaned at all. Nearby resorts were removing seaweed daily, while ours did nothing. The seaweed stayed there 24/7, smelled terrible, and made it impossible to enjoy the beach.
Another disappointing experience happened right after check-in. We were offered a “free” 4-night future stay, resort merchandise, and gifts, but only later learned that these could only be claimed after attending a 90-minute membership sales presentation. The employee spent a long time explaining the offer and even scheduled an appointment before finally mentioning a “refundable” $10 fee. If this had been disclosed from the beginning, we would have declined immediately. We came to enjoy our vacation, not attend a sales presentation, so we did not go and lost the $10. The whole process felt misleading and left a very poor first impression.
Instead of pushing membership presentations, it would have been much more helpful if someone had explained basic resort information to us. We were also surprised that there was almost no evening entertainment outside of the theater shows. The plaza and bar area were completely silent — no music, live singers, or musicians playing. It felt awkward and empty for us.

This resort was absolutely amazing! The entire place was grand. The grounds were kept amazing. Everything was so clean. The renovation to the place made the entire experience unforgettable. The different buffets had great food and beautiful settings. The resteraunts that you had to make reservations for had amazing food as well. Our favorite was the hibachi. The courtyard where they would have music in the evening was also a great experience. The sports bar was the largest we’ve seen at a resort so far with lots of seating and TV’s for the games. There are lots of pools at this place so you always have a spot to get in the pool. The beach had a bar open and a couple other spots that looked to be under renovation. The only negative experience was the mass of seaweed but that is everywhere along the coast. The kids pool area looked to be a great experience with lots of water splash’s and slides. Definitely a good place to bring the kids to. We used America Transfer for our shuttle service and they were on time and a great experience. Overall a wonderful experience and would come back!

Hotel is fully renovated, food and amenities are great. However don’t be fulled by the website description. I originally booked a suite with 2 double beds and sofa bed as per Princess room description. We are a family of 4 with 4 y.o and 15 y.o. Upon arrival our room turned to have only 2 double beds and sofa (which turned to be just a sofa not sofa bed, absolutely useless in room setup). It is crazy for someone to think that 4 ppl can fit in there. We were offered to upgrade to platinum suite with 2 double beds, sofa bed, and have been told it is the only room setup possible for our family. I had to pay additional USD $1200 which is 50% more of what I already have paid when booked. This felt as a complete scam and absolutely ruined our experience with hotel. You get a fancier food and drinks with “platinum”, but it did not really matter for my kids who are mostly eating fries and burgers. All we wanted was another bed and basically were forced to pay for the services we did not want/need.

The food was good and the pools were great. The beach though was another story. Besides the sargassum, it was not well maintained and eroded. Some palm trees are getting ready to fall due to it. The room was up to date but make sure you close patio door because animas will get in. When we checked into our room there was ground coffee on the floor and opened sugar packets. We called the receptionist and were told that probably an animal got into the room. We checked the patio door and it was left open by someone. They said that those animals (I don't remember the name now) can open the door. Imagine how we felt about it! Thinking that they can open the door and enter while we are asleep! Thank God that did not happen because we made sure that while we stayed there we have not had any incidents.

Couple doors down from parachute we seen clean white beach - they put billed hills to protect waves and net fence to protect algae to come near beach.
Just an idea - that could be done for your hotel as well.
Other then that everyone and everything was above expectations especially customer service the best ever.
Never had better rooms and more clean.

This resort is big but feels small once you find your spot. Staff were so helpful and friendly. Resort is clean and rooms are huge. Only slight drawback was the seaweed at the beach but not much anyone can do about that!

The hotel was very nice. The staff super friendy and helpful. The rooms were always clean, as well as other areas of the resort. The buffet had a wide variety of foods. The spa was also super nice. Overall an excellent stay!!

Very good, we've was in paradise! But in the bathroom to sleeky floor in shower room, no magnified mirror ( hard to shave) and in the best in my memory buffet almost not possible to read very small food tags with black background. And too many wild animals.

The rooms are really clean. The staff are very friendly. The foods are great, especially in the buffet. The pools are amazing. We had a very good time there and we’ll go again to stay in the same hotel. It is definitely worth it, with espresso at a very reasonable price.

We had an amazing experience at this resort! The landscaping is beautiful and there’s tons of wildlife. We were visiting the resort while the riviera side was still under construction, therefore we were unable to access some areas of the resort. Also, due to construction some restaurants are currently not available/ available every night of the week so be sure to book with the front desk for best results! The resort is very very clean, and the rooms are beautiful we stayed in a garden view room and had great cleaning services and mini bar restock each day. And the staff are all very friendly! The food was a 9/10 for us, the à la carte restaurants were amazing, and the buffet always had good selections and lots of food, chefs are always standing waiting to make some things to order. The drinks were great, although we experienced some differences between the same drink at different bars across the resort. Unfortunately we went during peak sargasm season and were not willing to walk through roughly 20ft of it to the clearer waters, but it is better during off seasons apparently! The entertainment was great with a mixture of shows each night. Would 100% go again and maybe book a platinum room during a lower sargasm season!

I did not left a 5 stars reviews due to the following reasons although overally it was a nice vacation for us.
1. Unorganized and insufficient internal transit bus
2. A few missings inside the room like toothbrushes cop, Shampoo wall mounted container inside the bathroom.
3. Insufficient trash bins in the room
4. Queen size beds were not standard size and smaller than that like double bed so we are as a family of three could not sleep comfortably.

This resort is pretty good and once we got used to the facilities we had a blast! The staff is really nice and helpful, but not always efficient. We had to switch rooms because the first one they put us in had a strong and overpowering musty smell. It took them a day to figure that out for us and they ended up putting us in a smaller room, but the smell was much better so we gladly took it. Following this, the concierge team checked in and took care of us.

We were also handed off from the check in staff to a time share staff who told us he was there to help get us settled. He said he was going to take us on a tour of the resort the next day and offer us prizes and a complimentary massage coupon to celebrate the resort’s anniversary. This all turned out to not be fake and the next morning he picked us up and took us straight to the time share office and we walked away. The time share staff are typically hanging out in the lobby and main square in white shirts.

Outside of these things, the food is pretty good and the facility is nice. The beach is not great, we much preferred the pools. The water slides are fun for kids and any of the shows taking place outside in the main square at night are a must see! We woulf gladly return if we get the chance.

This is such a beautiful resort. We spent 5 days here and loved every moment. It’s a great place overall, with just a couple of downsides. If you’re a beach person, this resort may not be ideal for you.

The food is okay, I wouldn’t say it’s great. The buffet is almost the same every day and lacks variety. We tried a couple of à la carte restaurants; the atmosphere was awesome, but the food didn’t quite match the experience.

Other than that, it’s an awesome place to relax, soak up the sun, and unwind

The hotel is very lovely, and the staff are very friendly; however, there are a few details that need improvement.
The coffee shop does not exist and alcohol selection is limited depending on your status, despite being advertised as all inclusive— which is unfair and misleading. The Kids' Club for small children should be open in the morning rather than from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, as that is typically naptime for young children. The person who created this schedule likely does not have children of their own. The meals were very tasty, and the rooms were very comfortable. The beach, however, was quite unsightly due to the seaweed, and even unusable on some of the days. Aside from the mountains of seaweed at the waterfront, the beach is incredibly rocky. There is also no drink or food service on the beach, which was an inconvenience.

This resort was definitely worth the money! Food was good, many different options especially in the buffets. The rooms were clean and housekeeping did its thing every morning! The shuttle was available 24/7 which was a plus especially with a toddler. Many activities throughout the day for the kids and families.

Amazing resort for our family vacation (2 adults, 2 children aged 4 and 11). Beautiful property with lots of wildlife; every square inch of it boasted life and amenities. Massive resort but continuous shuttle service made navigation easy. Staff was extremely welcoming and helpful. Will definitely be visiting again!

Waterslides left white marks on all our swimsuits. They basically denied that it was the slides and didn’t offer any remedy. Said nobody else had reported it. Happened to 5 of us. Otherwise great amenities for families. Could use more umbrellas around the kids pool.

This was my husband and I’s first trip to Mexico and it was perfect! The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was amazing, and our room was kept nice and cool and had a comfortable bed and beautiful view of the ocean! We will definitely be back!

Overall we were very dissatisfied with this place, food was not good, drinks were horrible, there was no night life. The staff was great however, we will no longer return to this resort. The only entertainment was at the pool and other than that very boring resort even for the kids.

Just came back, and I would recommend this resort to anyone! Staff were incredibly friendly, a lot of different options for food. I find this rare as I can be picky. We stayed in the platinum suites and the rooms were beautiful! Unfortunately there was a lot of seaweed on the beaches..but there were people working hard daily to clean it up. Weather was hot and sunny! Couldn’t have had any better weather as I came home to snow and hail. Will be back! 😊

Everything about this place was amazing! The beach area has been nicer at other places i’ve stayed but it was still alright if your not looking to be out by the beach everyday. Definitely recommend the swim up rooms. After the renovation it was beautiful
