It’s a lovely hotel on a super part of the beach. Not too big so easy to get around. Rooms are large and well appointed. The buffet and poolside restaurant are great - much better than the specialty restaurants. Staff are incredibly helpful. 3 things could use improvement (1) there is not enough shade on the beach - getting a palapa was a competitive sport - if you left to get lunch the hotel might take your stuff away - we upgraded to the cabana experience for most of our stay ($$) just to get reliable shade (2) the club class occupies part of the beach and pool and the constant sales pitches for club class membership was annoying (3) the gym has terrific equipment but it feels crowded for such a huge hotel and is dark (the hotel is bright and airy). It would be so much better if it occupied a larger brighter space with room to stretch.

But we had a lovely holiday.

Went on a girls’ trip to celebrate my friend’s 40th. Hotel property was beautiful, rooms clean, and e-concierge was helpful with decorating her room and making spa reservations. Spa experience was great! Night shows were good. Reserving airport transportation through the hotel provider worked out great. My flight to Cancun was delayed and that was not an issue. A taxi to Playa de Carmen was about 400-500 pesos, not bad for a group that wants to go into town.
Cons: There were mosquitos in the rooms when we arrived and although the room was “treated” after our arrival, there were still some mosquitoes and you could hear them at night when sleeping. Main complaint was the food experience. The four of us were disappointed with the quality/options and the lack of Mexican options (no enchiladas or pozole). I will note that we come from San Diego and have stayed at other Hyatt all inclusive hotels with better quality food. Also, some waiters were enthusiastic and helpful and others seemed almost bothered that we asked questions or for recommendations.

We recently stayed at Hyatt Zilara Maya Riviera, and there is no question that the property itself is beautiful. From the moment you walk in, the architecture and meticulously maintained grounds create a true jungle oasis. The rooms are modern and comfortable, with an excellent bed and a spacious, well designed shower.

Our hosts, Diaz and Fernanda, were outstanding. They made scheduling effortless and kept us informed about daily events. The service throughout the resort is genuinely five star. The staff clearly care.

The spa, located about half a mile away in the jungle, is a highlight. The open air hydrotherapy area is unique and peaceful, and the massage was world class. It is expensive, but that is expected at this level. They were willing to work with us on a package, which we appreciated.

Now for the part that simply cannot be overlooked: the food.

Before posting this review, I spoke directly with a manager about our experience, so this feedback should not be a surprise. Unfortunately, the dining program is nowhere near five star.

Compared to our previous stays at NYX Hotel Cancun and Hyatt Zilara Cancun, the buffet and restaurant offerings here feel dramatically scaled down, and not in a refined or curated way. Smaller can work if the quality is exceptional. That is not the case.

With one major exception, the food was bland, uninspired, and poorly executed.

Service, cleanlines food is all great. Best area on the beach and they clean it all day long. It is quieter resort and smaller, so less food options, but that was perfect for us.
Spa and Hydrothreapy are very nice.
No need to worry about reserving chairs by the pool or beach. It is a great resort.

The food options were so-so. The buffet was often not well stocked (mostly in the evening). Some of the staff at the buffet were unprofessional - the woman on the grill on new year;s day spent most of her time talking to Spanish speaking guests and wasn't paying attention to her cooking and ruined some beautiful seafood (burnt on one side raw on the other). One of the hostesses was on her phone when I came in and ignored my hello and didn't engage with me. Personal phones should not be allowed on the floor, But a big shout out to Alejandro in the Italian restaurant for his professionalism, great

Overall, I had an amazing experience! Yes, the restaurant service—and occasionally the lobby bar—moved a little slowly, but the staff was so warm, friendly, and attentive. This room is hands‑down my favorite of all the adults‑only resorts I’ve stayed at. The grounds are gorgeous, the overall aesthetic is stunning, and the entire vibe is incredibly relaxing. And the beachfront location? Absolutely perfect. Would I recommend Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya? Without a doubt. Would I come back? In a heartbeat!

Second time here and loved our stay. Food was good- breakfast at buffet, lunch at Lola beach amazing, dinner at Italian. The beachside grill was not as good as two years ago, but other food seemed a bit better. They added poolside lunch some days which is nice. What we didn’t love is the introduction of a club level, since having all the same access was something we liked here. Club level upgrade was not at so worth it to us, expensive. And it wouldn’t bother me if they just added amenities, but they took amenities away from standard (certain pool and beach loungers for example meaning we had to play the chair game which we didn’t last time) and put it club level only so not only added a level but took something away from standard- not cool. And sometimes the music at pool and bar was way too loud. Otherwise rooms are clean and comfortable, sand is awesome and staff is friendly. I do recommend it, but would keep an eye out for a deal.

Food was amazing, Room was super clean, if your younger I recommend you stay more towards Cancun the taxi to get out of here is really expensive and Ubers or didi can’t pick up in playa del Carmen so you’re stuck paying over 100 dollars ONE WAY each time. Also recommend to arrange a way to get here because they also don’t allow uber in the airport and got stuck paying 140 in taxi fees just to get in here. Other than that if you’re more on the calm side and not looking to leave the resort this is a good place with friendly staff.

The fine dining food options lived up to expectations. Having delicious food in an all inclusive resort is key and their service, very friendly staff, plenty of food options, and high quality food was pleasantly surprising.

Secondly, i cant talk enough about how relaxing and wonderful the Zen Spa is. I would recommend the check in package which gets a couple a 50 minute massage followed by hydrotherapy and a body scrub you apply yourself before doing hydrotherapy. We enjoyed it so much we went again at the end of our trip before we left. Would absolutely stay here again.

We expected this hotel Zilara to be just as good as the one in Cancun Hotel District, but it fell short. The property is a bit dated. The hot water in our room did not work properly. It was reported twice and when the maintenance person would come they would temporarily fix the issue then go back to cold water. The staff was not as attentive as the hotel Zilara in Cancun are. The shows were very limited and not as enjoyable. The food was not tasty.

Thai restaurant ambiance was off,needs improvement in menu too(any Thai restaurant need to have a curry on the menu at least)my meal was flavorless ,some aspects over cooked and didn't taste Thai??) Also breakfast buffet service was wonderful shout out to Norma, and omelette lady Im sorry forgot your name but anyways she was amazing too. I was very happy staying at this hotel so thank you . Beach was very nice despite lots of seaweed, which could be prevented in many different methods if the hotel invested something towards that issue, I also really liked the size of the property not too big to walk miles to get to beach restaurants or cafe or anything . Only suggestions is , while I understand many guests choose to use private cars(very over priced and rip off) they should provide a shuttle service to airport and for outings so guests have a safe (especially for ladies alone or in groups) and affordable option to be encouraged to go out to see the city , and go on trips wherever. This was the perfect place to escape our busy life of work and our young children. The adults only and smaller sized resort was the reason we came here. We wanted a quieter resort with still plenty of activities and restaurants. The beach was pristine and the service was incredible. All the restaurants were amazing and I’d recommend “Lola Beach” for a quiet night cap and listening to the waves of the ocean at night. The main hotel buffet is really the only option for a full breakfast other than room service but it has everything you could want. I’d recommend sticking to the other restaurants for your other meals.
The drinks were amazing and you never had to go very far to have one on hand. I’d recommend the Mezcalita Tamarindo! The room and service was amazing even though we spent very little time in there. The staff all go out of their way to help you and make your stay unforgettable. They have to do their little sales pitch right off the bat but after that they won’t bother you.
Lastly, I’d recommend getting the bracelet with your room key programmed into it. You truly can walk around with nothing in your pockets then. Can’t wait to come back!!

The all inclusive dining was below average quality with limited choices for room service. No beef or chicken tacos, nachos chips are too thick and hard. Strawberry tart is too hard. Hamburgers were tasteless and fries were greasy. I did not like the taste and texture of the fish or pork tacos.

Everybody was very warm and welcoming. All waiters made you feel at home. The beach access was always clean and walkable. There was never a lack of available sun beds. Jorge and Eloy at the swim-up bar were always there with a smile.

The restaurant options were good especially the asian one. The italian cuisine one (capri grill) left us a little bit underwhelmed. (I.e.: the beef carpaccio was under seasoned. Lola's it depended on who was cooking that day, I guess. The first time we went everything was well seasoned and had a good service, but the second time, everything was bland and under-seasoned. We also saw people getting served before us, even though they came in later.

An amazing stay at Hyatt Zilara! The staff make it extra special as soon as you get there and the rooms are beautiful and very nice. Beds and linens were comfortable, loved the double sink bathrooms and shower excellent. Main pool is super relaxing while also filled with activity that lets you decide from a quieter to more activity side. Servers at the pool are on it and bar made fantastic drinks. If I could give more stars I would. We did a lot of research before selecting this one. This exceeded all expectations. The resort was impeccably run. The quality of the food and drinks amazing. The beach was beautiful, clean and relaxing. We enjoyed a cabana one day by the pool. It was our first time at an all inclusive but from speaking with other guests this scored high on the list. The spa was also high quality and we loved our couples massage. But most importantly the staff is 10 star. Thank you ANTONIO, Irving, Alexander, Norma, Miguel, Adolfo, all the bartenders at the social, and really everyone who worked there. Just too many to mention. Your welcoming kindness did not go unnoticed. And of course the Expedia VIP access was appreciated. Thanks for a great stay.

Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya is a resort on the smaller side, but still offered lots. The activities they had planned were actually lots of fun and very engaging. Nothing ever felt like it was crowded and the resort had some great food options. The staff throughout the hotel were amazing and very nice.

Overall, I think this resort checked all of our boxes and we had an amazing vacation here, and will recommend this to others that are looking into this property.

The Staff at the resort was above all others. I don’t even know where to start, on day one Daniel at the pool made us feel so welcomed. Daniel was absolutely amazing, friendly, attentive. We have never had as good of service by the whole crew there, Sandy, Omar, Adilita, Miguel, Viviana and the names go on. Every request was made with a smile. We were the celebrating my mother’s 90’s birthday and the went out of their was to make it special. Outstanding service. Food was delicious. 100% recommend this resort. It’s a smaller resort and that’s what we were looking for.

Great property and friendly staff. My only callout is the staff who try to sell you upgrades to visit other resorts. I don’t think it’s appropriate to guilt trip you and make you feel inadequate for politely declining the first 3 times. As someone in marketing, I don’t think this tactic is right at all. Thankfully the rest of the stay turned things around because that was my first impression of the resort.

Julio at Legends Sports Bar is a legend himself when it comes to cocktails, and his mezcal wisdom is unmatched. Ok, so first of all I have been to other Hyatt location but this one is the worst of all. No customer service at all. The place is only 20% filled but they are running out of alcohol. Its really unheard of. We have been drinking one particular type of whisky from 5pm to 8pm and all of the sudden they said they dont have it anymore. I wanted some of my friends who were visiting another resort close by to just come visit us for like an hour or less without using any of the resorts accommodations, I was told that they have to pay $90/person to come in. This is not my first rodeo. I have been using Hyatts locations for many years. This is the first time I have experienced this type of service. If im paying for the something at asked pricing without any negotiations then I deserve the service. Please book other locations. Manager said he cannot do anything. Not even \"Sorry\"

The property itself is great, but not necessarily worth the upgraded price tag over some others in the area. Julio at the pool was our favorite and made the daytime awesome, but the staff overall were also very kind and accommodating. The concierge crew is very good but it felt like the whole process of booking experiences and everything else was geared towards selling the vacation club, which was made clear by the willingness to give away resort dollars and the increased prices on everything you had to purchase that wasn’t included in the stay. Overall, great place, little bit small with only a few restaurants, but everything was solid quality.

Upon our arrival, we were warmly greeted in the lobby by Sebastien, who welcomed us with refreshing hand towels and a drink. Max at check-in made us feel right at home by explaining the property and setting the tone for a wonderful stay.
The entertainment team kept things lively with different activities every day, ensuring there was never a dull moment. We especially enjoyed spending time with Fermin during the day, as well as the lovely lady (whose name we, unfortunately, forgot) who hosted many of the evening activities.
The restaurants were top-notch! Capri Grill quickly became our favorite spot for dinner, while Lola’s Beach was our go-to for comfort food. Across all the restaurants and bars, every server we interacted with was genuine, attentive, and made our dining experiences even better.

Housekeeping did a fantastic job of keeping our room spotless every other day, and at checkout, Pablo—and once again Max—made the process seamless and stress-free.
The resort itself never felt crowded—it was almost as if we had the place to ourselves. Peaceful, relaxing, and incredibly welcoming. We celebrated both our honeymoon and birthdays during our stay, and to top it off, Expedia surprised us with desserts as a preferred guest perk!
Overall, it was an amazing experience—from the staff to the food to the atmosphere. We absolutely loved our stay and can’t wait to come back again.

This is a property worth revisiting. We came same time last year, last week of July. Had such a wonderful time we came back this year. The staff is so accommodating and sincere. The property is serene, relaxing, and easy to navigate. The food is divine and delicious and the beaches are beautiful.
