The hotel was nice and it’s an all inclusive which is great. Right now the beach is covered in sargassum but they’re trying to clean it up… so if you’re going soon, note that if you swim in the ocean it’ll be filled with seaweed and the water is brown. The food and drinks were delicious and the staff were super friendly.

My main issue is when booking excursions through the hotel. My family and I booked three excursions and, with all of them, the staff purposely left out information that would have prevented us from booking, or flat out lied to us. First of all, when you book with the hotel, they charge so much more than if you booked directly with the places that do the excursions. Swimming with whale sharks was $250 with the hotel, but I looked it up on the excursion’s website and it was $150 if you booked it directly with them (and yes, that still includes hotel pickup and drop off). The staff told us things like the drive to Cancun would only be 30 minutes, but it ended up being over 2 hours. They told us that activities would be in Playa Del Carmen when they weren’t.

My main takeaway is that, while most of the staff are nice, there are a lot of people that lie, exaggerate, or leave crucial information out when booking excursions. We were very disappointed because they left information out all three times we did excursions. The hotel should make sure their staff are honest, because some of that information would’ve made us book something else or nothing at all.

The property is beautiful; from the entrance of the resort to the rooms. The staff is attentive and friendly. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with cool refreshing towels, smiling faces and everyone welcoming us home. Staff was very friendly and attentive. We enjoyed the food options from the restaurants to room service. There were fun activities from day to night. We spent most of our time between the main pool and our private pool. The music is mediocre at the main pool. That’s my only negative thing to point out. I recommend if you want to relax with the option to have a good time.

*Hotel does not inform you pre-arrival or upon arrival that seaweed makes it impossible to use beach/ocean. The odor permeates everywhere, even when you are in guest room with doors shut. Understand its an act of nature, but it would be appropriate and appreciated to acknowledge to guests and perhaps offer a diffuser or room spray to mediate the terrible smell.
*After checking in, you are asked to wait in lobby (assuming it was for bellman and luggage)....nope! a 30+ minute pitch to visit other properties in the area. Honestly, with jet lag, thirst and being on vacation it's a rather unprofessional gesture to guests.
Be warned: you are told door to door it will take 90 minutes for the visit. NOPE! It's a full sales pitch (think timeshare presentation) that would have been FOUR HOURS if we did not simply walk out.
*Overall staff are lovely, espeically restaurants, housekeeping and pool. Tempest restaurant reception staff not welcoming, nor do they open the door when dinner service begins at 5PM. at 5:10PM guests waiting outside just let themselves in. Sushi is very basic, not fresh and 80% rice.
*Spa may be saving grace of the property. Waited till last day to use and in hindsight should have visited a couple times.
*Upgraded package to Club not worth the money - food presentations look like a kids buffet menu.

Great property! We were greeted with Sparkling wine and escorted to a private sit down desk for check in. Our room was beautiful with a beautiful view of the pool and ocean. The pool was great, just wish it was open later than 8 pm, so we could enjoy it after our excursions off the resort. The staff was amazing and very attentive.

Desde el inicio, dejamos claro que no estábamos interesados, pero aun así el representante, Iván Estrada (closer de la venta), insistió de manera excesiva y poco respetuosa. Su actitud fue altamente presionante, haciéndonos sentir incómodos en todo momento.

Lo que debería haber sido una simple presentación informativa se convirtió en una situación tensa, donde no se respetaron nuestros límites como clientes. Este tipo de trato no es aceptable, especialmente en un entorno como el hotel donde uno espera relajarse y disfrutar.

No recomendaría a otros huéspedes asistir a esta charla. Definitivamente no vale la pena pasar por una experiencia así.

My first all inclusive and visiting Mexico. Girls getaway planned 4 nights at Hyatt Zilara and we loved everything about it. Buffet had many options, pool area was clean with many servers. Great location, relaxing atmosphere with a variety of entertainment. Water Aerobics, water spin classes, karaoke and shows and live music at Legends.

The staff were incredibly friendly and truly elevated the experience. Tanya (manager at Lola Beach), Norma and Luis (servers at Lola Beach), and Martin (pool side server) exceeded every expectation.

The rooms were decent size and clean, but dated. Humidity is evident with some mildew spots in the shower.

The food experience was a bit disappointing. I highly recommend upgrading to Club Level, but wait until you arrive. We declined it the first day, then upgraded the last 2 days after seeing the breakfast options at the buffet. Club Level does get you access to Lola Beach for breakfast, which really was the best dining we experienced. I found it disappointing that the website states Club Level gets you reservations to restaurants, only to find out this is not true. Additionally, there was a large party who was able to reserve Capri Grille for 1.5 hours. There were no signs posted and when we arrived for dinner at 6:30, we were told to return at 7:30 to get a table. We asked if we needed reservations and were told we did not. We returned at 7:40 only to be told there would be a 40 minute wait because we had not put our name on the list. So, off to Lola Beach (again). Dining options become limited after a few days.

The staff was very nice, but lack communication skills on how the resort works for first time visitors to an all inclusive resort.
Example… 1. We paid extra for the concierge/butler service and never meet one of them. 2. Still couldn’t get a reservation to a restaurant until our last night til 9:00 pm.

They are building a new hotel next to the Hyatt and they start work at 7:30 each morning. It’s no where noted that construction was taking place.

The rooms are super clean and the housekeeping works really hard.

Spa was really nice and they will provide transportation by golf cart to it, but again they lack communication skills to let you know how it works.

It’s a lovely hotel on a super part of the beach. Not too big so easy to get around. Rooms are large and well appointed. The buffet and poolside restaurant are great - much better than the specialty restaurants. Staff are incredibly helpful. 3 things could use improvement (1) there is not enough shade on the beach - getting a palapa was a competitive sport - if you left to get lunch the hotel might take your stuff away - we upgraded to the cabana experience for most of our stay ($$) just to get reliable shade (2) the club class occupies part of the beach and pool and the constant sales pitches for club class membership was annoying (3) the gym has terrific equipment but it feels crowded for such a huge hotel and is dark (the hotel is bright and airy). It would be so much better if it occupied a larger brighter space with room to stretch.

But we had a lovely holiday.

Went on a girls’ trip to celebrate my friend’s 40th. Hotel property was beautiful, rooms clean, and e-concierge was helpful with decorating her room and making spa reservations. Spa experience was great! Night shows were good. Reserving airport transportation through the hotel provider worked out great. My flight to Cancun was delayed and that was not an issue. A taxi to Playa de Carmen was about 400-500 pesos, not bad for a group that wants to go into town.
Cons: There were mosquitos in the rooms when we arrived and although the room was “treated” after our arrival, there were still some mosquitoes and you could hear them at night when sleeping. Main complaint was the food experience. The four of us were disappointed with the quality/options and the lack of Mexican options (no enchiladas or pozole). I will note that we come from San Diego and have stayed at other Hyatt all inclusive hotels with better quality food. Also, some waiters were enthusiastic and helpful and others seemed almost bothered that we asked questions or for recommendations.

We recently stayed at Hyatt Zilara Maya Riviera, and there is no question that the property itself is beautiful. From the moment you walk in, the architecture and meticulously maintained grounds create a true jungle oasis. The rooms are modern and comfortable, with an excellent bed and a spacious, well designed shower.

Our hosts, Diaz and Fernanda, were outstanding. They made scheduling effortless and kept us informed about daily events. The service throughout the resort is genuinely five star. The staff clearly care.

The spa, located about half a mile away in the jungle, is a highlight. The open air hydrotherapy area is unique and peaceful, and the massage was world class. It is expensive, but that is expected at this level. They were willing to work with us on a package, which we appreciated.

Now for the part that simply cannot be overlooked: the food.

Before posting this review, I spoke directly with a manager about our experience, so this feedback should not be a surprise. Unfortunately, the dining program is nowhere near five star.

Compared to our previous stays at NYX Hotel Cancun and Hyatt Zilara Cancun, the buffet and restaurant offerings here feel dramatically scaled down, and not in a refined or curated way. Smaller can work if the quality is exceptional. That is not the case.

With one major exception, the food was bland, uninspired, and poorly executed.

Service, cleanlines food is all great. Best area on the beach and they clean it all day long. It is quieter resort and smaller, so less food options, but that was perfect for us.
Spa and Hydrothreapy are very nice.
No need to worry about reserving chairs by the pool or beach. It is a great resort.

Some of the staff at the buffet were unprofessional - the woman on the grill on new year;s day spent most of her time talking to Spanish speaking guests and wasn't paying attention to her cooking and ruined some beautiful seafood (burnt on one side raw on the other). One of the hostesses was on her phone when I came in and ignored my hello and didn't engage with me. Overall, I had an amazing experience! Yes, the restaurant service—and occasionally the lobby bar—moved a little slowly, but the staff was so warm, friendly, and attentive. This room is hands‑down my favorite of all the adults‑only resorts I’ve stayed at. The grounds are gorgeous, the overall aesthetic is stunning, and the entire vibe is incredibly relaxing. Second time here and loved our stay. Food was good- breakfast at buffet, lunch at Lola beach amazing, dinner at Italian. The beachside grill was not as good as two years ago, but other food seemed a bit better. They added poolside lunch some days which is nice. What we didn’t love is the introduction of a club level, since having all the same access was something we liked here. Club level upgrade was not at so worth it to us, expensive. And it wouldn’t bother me if they just added amenities, but they took amenities away from standard (certain pool and beach loungers for example meaning we had to play the chair game which we didn’t last time) and put it club level only so not only added a level but took something away from standard- not cool. And sometimes the music at pool and bar was way too loud. Otherwise rooms are clean and comfortable, sand is awesome and staff is friendly. I do recommend it, but would keep an eye out for a deal.

Food was amazing, Room was super clean, if your younger I recommend you stay more towards Cancun the taxi to get out of here is really expensive and Ubers or didi can’t pick up in playa del Carmen so you’re stuck paying over 100 dollars ONE WAY each time. Also recommend to arrange a way to get here because they also don’t allow uber in the airport and got stuck paying 140 in taxi fees just to get in here. Other than that if you’re more on the calm side and not looking to leave the resort this is a good place with friendly staff.

The fine dining food options lived up to expectations. Having delicious food in an all inclusive resort is key and their service, very friendly staff, plenty of food options, and high quality food was pleasantly surprising.

Secondly, i cant talk enough about how relaxing and wonderful the Zen Spa is. I would recommend the check in package which gets a couple a 50 minute massage followed by hydrotherapy and a body scrub you apply yourself before doing hydrotherapy. We enjoyed it so much we went again at the end of our trip before we left. Would absolutely stay here again.

We expected this hotel Zilara to be just as good as the one in Cancun Hotel District, but it fell short. The property is a bit dated. The hot water in our room did not work properly. It was reported twice and when the maintenance person would come they would temporarily fix the issue then go back to cold water. The staff was not as attentive as the hotel Zilara in Cancun are. The shows were very limited and not as enjoyable. The food was not tasty.

Only suggestions is , while I understand many guests choose to use private cars(very over priced and rip off) they should provide a shuttle service to airport and for outings so guests have a safe (especially for ladies alone or in groups) and affordable option to be encouraged to go out to see the city , and go on trips wherever. This was the perfect place to escape our busy life of work and our young children. The adults only and smaller sized resort was the reason we came here. We wanted a quieter resort with still plenty of activities and restaurants. The beach was pristine and the service was incredible. All the restaurants were amazing and I’d recommend “Lola Beach” for a quiet night cap and listening to the waves of the ocean at night. The main hotel buffet is really the only option for a full breakfast other than room service but it has everything you could want. I’d recommend sticking to the other restaurants for your other meals.
The drinks were amazing and you never had to go very far to have one on hand. I’d recommend the Mezcalita Tamarindo! The room and service was amazing even though we spent very little time in there. The staff all go out of their way to help you and make your stay unforgettable. They have to do their little sales pitch right off the bat but after that they won’t bother you.
Lastly, I’d recommend getting the bracelet with your room key programmed into it. You truly can walk around with nothing in your pockets then. Can’t wait to come back!!

The all inclusive dining was below average quality with limited choices for room service. No beef or chicken tacos, nachos chips are too thick and hard. Strawberry tart is too hard. Hamburgers were tasteless and fries were greasy. I did not like the taste and texture of the fish or pork tacos.

Everybody was very warm and welcoming. All waiters made you feel at home. The beach access was always clean and walkable. There was never a lack of available sun beds. Jorge and Eloy at the swim-up bar were always there with a smile.

The restaurant options were good especially the asian one. The italian cuisine one (capri grill) left us a little bit underwhelmed. (I.e.: the beef carpaccio was under seasoned. Lola's it depended on who was cooking that day, I guess. The first time we went everything was well seasoned and had a good service, but the second time, everything was bland and under-seasoned. We also saw people getting served before us, even though they came in later.

An amazing stay at Hyatt Zilara! The staff make it extra special as soon as you get there and the rooms are beautiful and very nice. Beds and linens were comfortable, loved the double sink bathrooms and shower excellent. Main pool is super relaxing while also filled with activity that lets you decide from a quieter to more activity side. Servers at the pool are on it and bar made fantastic drinks. Couldn’t have asked for a better beach. Great food options and lovely room service too! We will be going back very soon!

If I could give more stars I would. We did a lot of research before selecting this one. This exceeded all expectations. The resort was impeccably run. The quality of the food and drinks amazing. The beach was beautiful, clean and relaxing. We enjoyed a cabana one day by the pool. It was our first time at an all inclusive but from speaking with other guests this scored high on the list. The spa was also high quality and we loved our couples massage. But most importantly the staff is 10 star. Thank you ANTONIO, Irving, Alexander, Norma, Miguel, Adolfo, all the bartenders at the social, and really everyone who worked there. Just too many to mention. Your welcoming kindness did not go unnoticed. And of course the Expedia VIP access was appreciated. Thanks for a great stay.
