The hotel has a pub, cafe/pizzeria and shop onsite. We were upgraded to a room in the City Sleeper part of the hotel which looks freshly decorated. Liked the Brit pop style panels along the corridors. We had a room looking down into the courtyard so no traffic noise. The room was quite spacious and the twin beds were not next to each other which was great as we are not a couple. Ate in the pub and the food was good.

Room is clean, firm bed and fluffy pillows. We arrived early but there were rooms available so we were lucky to be able to check in early. We had two rooms on the 2nd floor facing the courtyard and it’s quiet.
Noticed there was no air conditioning in the room so it can be an issue if your stay is in the summer.

Room looked like it hadn’t been refreshed in 20+ years, the TV was hanging off the wall and the bath was all cracked and showing the unfinished material underneath, people where up and down the hallway all night shouting and took 20+ minutes to check in. could have been so much better. tried to treat my girlfriend to a nice weekend in london but ended up being dissapointing for both of us and i feel to blame for it.

Easily the worst, run down dirty kip of a hotel I have ever stayed in. Breakfast was terrible, ate out both mornings instead. Room looks like something out of the horror movie Hostel. I would highly recommend nobody stays here: This was booked for me by work.

The place hasn’t been done up in a long time, I’ve seen prisons with more charm. AVOID/AVOID/AVOID. If I could give it minus stars I would. Hotels.com should take it off their website.

Stayed in a superior twin room on the 5th floor, which was clean and comfortable, with a walk-in shower (important because I have mobility issues). It was on the small side but not cramped. The decor seemed to be fairly new and in good shape, of a dark gray neutral sort. Staff on check-in were friendly, quick and helpful. It's a massive hotel that takes huge tour groups, so there were several hordes clumped together in the lobby and in the street area outside; there is also no visible place to sit and relax in the lobby, which is designed to get a lot of people through check-in quickly. I was so glad to find there was express checkout! There are several restaurants in the hotel which I didn't try, and lots of restaurants in the immediate area. Very close to everything in Bloomsbury. There was street noise at night but nothing extreme.

The area around the hotel is great. Highly recommend the Russell Square area.

The hotel is older though and our room was quite small, and without a refrigerator (which we should have checked beforehand).

Our only big issue was the shower. Although there is a curtain, it is made of fabric rather than plastic, so water goes right through it. Even though we tried to shower with the shower head facing the wall, water always leaked all over the floor.

There was a strong air freshner smell on our floor. I have allergies to strong smells. I asked them to turn it down and when they did there was a strong musty smell. The window in the room did not open very far and it was hot with no air flow. We had to ask for a fan.

The room was clean and comfortable and a nice modern bathroom with a nice big shower but the hotel was very busy and the room is not soundproof so the noises from the neighbouring rooms and the corridor kept us awake quite a bit.
The staff were very helpful and polite. Ok for overnight or two but would not recommend for longer stays.

This place is overpriced, uncomfortable, and lacks personality from staff and ambience.
The rooms are tiny, no space or baggage stands so expect to live off the floor! There are no power sockets near the beds. No aircon and heating was in full, had to open window which overlooked the noisy courtyard below.
Staff were borderline rude, no customer service, no care to find out if you have had a good stay, and no concierge service.
I’ve stayed in better, more welcoming hostels!
I did send all this info to the hotel within an hour of checking in. They still haven’t bothered to respond!

Very warm welcome especially for the children. Room well appointed, very comfortable beds and sleek decor. It was clean, and calm. The breakfast had something for everyone- the dining hall was rather noisy but well-kept by multiple staff member, who interacted nicely with my kids too. We would definitely return.

Personally, i am disgusted on how my son was treated at this hotel. He had just got off a 27 hour flight from Australia. The airline lost his luggage, he was on his own and in a strange country. For Christmas we gave him one nights accommodation in the UK to get him settled before he started a Contiki tour. Because the accommodation was in my name and not my sons, which is an oversight i agree; the hotel sent him away with no coat to find other accommodation. When i heard the next day, i was horrified, i didn't know where he was or anything. I spoke to an Indian women at reception at The Royal National and explained my sons predicament of course i was a stress case and crying on the phone. The women said she would reimburse us for the money but you have to go through Expedia. With my anxiety and unable to even concentrate i didn't get the woman's name. Any way Expedia rang the hotel and they said they were not under any circumstances going to reimburse him. So as you can imagine i am not very happy at all. Especially with being a gold member with Expedia.

Hotel has a good location but I will not be returning. They have two giant lobbies with no seating so if your travel times do not align with check in you end up standing around or sitting on the floor. I find it strange that hotel lobbies usually have comfortable seating areas so you can meet people there or wait for your car but nothing here. You cannot control the temperature in your room so the heat was constantly on and you can only crack the window a little bit. The hallways smelled like smoke too. On the other hand the employees were very helpful and they do keep the hotel very clean. The bedding was very comfortable but it is very noisy. You can hear everyone around you including the water and vacuum above. The coffee shop right downstairs was excellent.

Staff was great. Despite the huge hotel very well organised.
It was our wedding weekend and we had three rooms for our families and us.
Our room was the standard plus and the extra was totally worth it. The hotel has two halves with the plus rooms in the newer area and felt like a different hotel. My brother had a standard double room and was very unlucky. First night of the three window didn’t close so was noisy and cold, they changed, second night they came back from the wedding and was full of water, machines inside, etc. The third room on three nights was ok.
However I must say the manager was excellent, they apologised and refunded a night.

They also provided on arrival a bottle of wine as congratulations for our day, which was a nice detail.

The breakfast is busy but good for the price but a lot cheaper if booked with the hotel room.

Location was amazing two mins from the British museum.

Overall an amazing stay great price for the area and amazing service. If you pay a bit extra for the standard plus I would recommend the hotel.

For a hotel in CentralLondon just over £100 for a night is a good price. The hotel is very large it’s clean comfortable and quiet. The rooms are a bit dated and my television didn’t work. However if you’re only here for a night or two, this hello is perfectly adequate and a good option. Breakfast again was adequate but nothing special.

If they had put the overflow in to a meeting room or ground floor room it would have solved the issue and settled the frustration of many people who had to carry around their luggage around London for the day.
