Room was good, shower a bit small but it worked and had hot water! Soap etc available to use and towels were soft. Good choices at breakfast and the staff were really friendly and welcoming!

We loved our stay at the Thistle Bloomsbury, i would highly recommend. The room was clean, Idris was a great help an said if we needed any assistance then he would help. Gabrielle on morning we left was also very helpful. Breakfast is good, full english an limited continental, pastries, bagels, fruit an cereal. The manager told us they where having the hotel updated BUT with anywhere your going to have wear an tear an need a updating, so this is no reflection on the hotel it is well kept. The hotel smells amazing as soon as you enter, beds are really comfy. An it is in a great spot. I highly recommend you try the restaurant next door also The Shell I had a steak,chips,salad an my son had Pasta ut was delicious an reasonably priced. I would stay again an recommend this hotel its a great little hotel.

Positives first: outstanding location, reasonable rates, spotless room, comfortable bed, good shower.

Negatives: decor is tired and needs refreshing. Our room's windows were very old, single-glazed, and didn't move freely (several layers of paint on old sash-and-case frames). Mildew on upper pane of the bathroom window, and a torn net curtain at the bedroom window. We only had one power socket: it was a double, but one of the outlets was already in use for the television, so we had to take turns charging phones, using hairdryer etc.

Decent enough for a couple of nights, but not longer.

Check was smooth, this is the second time we have stayed here so it good for an overnight stay. Shame the lift wasn’t working but was only on the second floor thankfully. Bit disappointed with breakfast as you could tell the eggs had been sat there for a while. Any staff we encountered were friendly and always live an express check out.

Staff were lovely but the hotel is in a bit of a state of disrepair. The room was clean, with ironing board and iron, kettle and big TV. We had a room on the Cosmo Place side, so it was fairly loud until all the bars closed.

When we arrived on Saturday the only lift was out of order and not being repaired until Monday.
We upgraded our room before we arrived and were informed it was on the 6th (top floor), no offer to help carry our luggage up the stairs 6 floors. We were out of breath and not very happy with the situation.
The junior suit we upgraded to was small no desk, grubby and requires refurbishing.
We asked to be moved back to a standard room on the lowest floor possible, they managed the 2nd floor.
This room was tiny, double bed not much bigger than a single and desperately needs a refurb, every floor board was creaking and the whole hotel just smelt of disinfectant, not very pleasant.

Room was clean and spacious but the flag pole outside kept clunking in the wind so disturbed our sleep quite a lot. Housekeeping also knocked every 20 minutes from 9.30am despite check out not being until 11am so we felt like we were being rushed out.

Location of hotel great. My room was in good condition and clean but my son’s (which had not been updated) was a bit dingy. General decor a bit faded, which will probably account for the building noises at 8am each day!
Only one small lift which was out of service for a while one day. Not good when you’re on the 6th floor.
Had a problem with my shower on the first day but in fairness it was sorted out quickly. So, all in all, a comfortable base at a reasonable cost in a great location.

Everything was in good condition, however there was a noise problem. The room had single glazing and was noisy. That was a cobbled pedestrian street behind on which a bar was open late, then produce cages were rattled up and down the street quite early in the morning.

Booked the day before for a last min trip. Bargain price in January. Friendly helpful staff. We were early for checkin but just wanted to drop a bag off to go out for the day but our room was ready so we were able to go straight to it. It was a cold room on 7th floor, but there was an oil heater in the room which I’m glad I put on before we went out to take the chill out the air for coming back in. Had we waited until we got in it would’ve been freezing. There’s only one lift which is really slow and small 3/4 people max, 2 with luggage, so you may need to wait a while for it if you are unable to use the stairs especially At checkout times. Room was ideal near Holborn station and Russel square, 10/15min walk from Euston station. 15min walk to Covent Garden. Lots of eating places/coffee shops on your doorstep. Perfect for a one night 2 day trip to London and would use again if I was able to source again a cheap price.

I recently stayed at this hotel and it was one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve ever had. The value for money is absolutely nonexistent. They assign rooms on the 5th and 7th floors, yet the elevators have reportedly been out of service for at least two weeks. Carrying luggage up and down multiple floors was unacceptable for the price point.they are not offering help

rooms shown online are clearly from the few renovated units, but the majority of the rooms are old, worn out, and far from clean. The carpets and curtains were stained and smelled unpleasant. There is no air conditioning, which is shocking for any modern hotel. The windows are like museum style wooden frames that barely open or close, letting in cold air and outside noise.

Another strange detail: instead of providing complimentary water, they started to sell a week before and sell them .The towels had no fresh scent and felt poorly maintained.

The bed was extremely small, barely the size of a single bed, and not even stable. The base slides to the sides with the slightest movement, making it impossible to sleep comfortably.

Overall, this hotel fails in all basic standards of comfort, cleanliness, and service. I would strongly advise future guests to avoid this place there are far better options in the same area for the same or even lower price. I wish I had seen an honest review before booking; hopefully, this helps someone else.

The lift was out of action, which seemed to have been for more than a day or so. Although the room had a nice corner window the floor was squeaky walking in it and throughout the night you could hear those above you as they moved around. Stains on the carpet. The bathroom was also awkward where you walked in and had to be an acrobat around the door. Perhaps it was just unlucky…… it was room 303.

The shower head needed a good clean only worked from 3 outlets on shower head water went all over floor when you turned it on and left running to get hot room very small for twin nowhere to put clothes as such
Beds moved about if you sat on them and neither were comfortable
Put clothes or no chair in room bed side lights had to be turned off from by door not next to bed

Won’t be going there again appalling considering paid £225 for that one night

Great hotel & central to get about. Smells amazing.
Close to tube stations & walking distance from Euston.
Hotel was very clean, warm and smelt amazing. Room was comfy, a little dated but clean, decent size for twin room.
Dressing table chair bit too large for the room really. Room far too hot but we turned radiators off so not a problem.
Tea, coffee, water in room.
Shower was really powerful.
Towels great quality and fluffy.
Breakfast great. Choice of cooked, continental, fresh fruit and more.
Reception and dining room staff all welcoming, polite & friendly.
Both reception chaps Minarul & Tanveer are a real credit to the hotel. Both so helpful. We had actually checked out, left our bags but thankfully remembered we hadn’t emptied the safe. The reception chap took me back to the room on our return to collect it. Allowed us to rest in reception before heading off to the train.

Would def recommend this place.

Good single room, clean -- too clean in a way as towels seemed to be replaced although I hung them as requested to show I didn't want them replaced. The TV wouldn't function after the first day, perhaps a flat battery ... pleasant breakfast room!
Owing to the nature of the building, there's only one rather small (& slow) lift which was a minor problem for the elderly (such as myself) who don't fancy four flights of stairs. But despite a warning that hot water might be slow to arrive, it was fine. I may well come again; very convenient location for me.

Didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment on what is on offer but for a cost of £16 per person if pre booked feel whatever is on offer £16 is rather expensive.
Parts of the hotel are very dated and in need of some attention. Carpet fraying on the stairs, the area we had to go through with the stairs melt musty, the room itself the paper on the wall near skirting board is bubbling from what appears to be water leak from shower. Uneven floor in bedroom which could be a trip hazard. Unable to close one of the bedroom windows, towel rail was not heating up & had no idea how to get this to work. No socket by wardrobe area to use iron & ironing board. Not enough room by TV to put up ironing board. Socket under TV (first one) is loose and USB port did not work to charge phone. No socket in between the single beds to charge phone, or plug anything in.
No on site bar, very limited drink offering and this was not clear from hotel description. Some of the images are dated and not true to how hotel now looks.
Limited TV choice.
On plus side towels and bedding were clean, although due to the room been cold could do with either extra blankets been available in room or thicker quilt.

Very surprised by how great this hotel was. Check in was easy. We got there early and were able to leave our bags. Our room (one queen one single) was perfect. Very spacious. Modern. Clean. Very comfortable bed, pillows and linen. A nespresso machine. Aircon. Great bathroom. I didn’t hear much outside noise. Perfect location for exploring London. Will def stay here again!

O.K. the hotel itself offers excellent value for money right in the heart of the city with easy transport links ,two tube stations within a 10 minute walk . Stacks of decent restaurants in the area . Only one or two very minor gripes ,air con would be nice and a bar in the hotel would be welcome apart from this just book it with confidence.

Slow check in, either computers slow or staff unsure what to do. Tiny elevator only 2 people plus bags can fit in at a time. Not great for a 6 floor hotel. First night stayed in 3rd floor room that was absolutely boiling hot all night, a small desk fan and all the windows open made no difference. Hardly slept at all. No fridge to keep water cold either. Plus saw a jumping black bug on the bed during the night! Not what we expected from this calibre of hotel. Complained in the morning and requested a different room with air-conditioning and a fridge as had slept so poorly. No refund on the first night and had to pay £25 extra to upgrade to a better room! Left bags with reception for the day to pick up a new room key when we got back. On arriving back Saturday afternoon, the only lift was broken. We got our key for the new room...on the 6th floor! So we had a LOT of steps to climb. Not good for my painful legs and knees. Would not recommend this hotel for disabled access at all. Staff seemed apathetic and indifferent. The suite room was much better than the first room so luckily got some sleep on the 2nd night, but won't be staying again.

The room didn’t have air conditioning. A fan was provided but it was blowing hot air around the room. The window was open but couldn’t be opened any wider than a fraction (old sash window). There were open two sockets so you had to choose between boiling the kettle or watching the tv as the fan was plugged into the second socket. So forget about charging your phone. The sink in the bathroom had massive black cracks in it - not hygienic or safe.
On the plus side the bed was comfortable and clean. The room was quiet overnight.

The three star rating is spot on. This is a moderate- to low-end hotel by almost all, measures. Upon check in during a heat wave, I asked if there would be a fan in the room. The answer: There should be. I had to look for it, but it was there. The elevator stops at the sixth floor but my room was one more flight on the 7th. At check out, I suggested that the room was too hot; the response I received was: All of our rooms are hot.

The room was adequate, but it looked nothing like the pictures in Expedia. I was expecting a rather large, well furnished room with a double bed. What I got was the double bed in a very small room with very little extra space and a tiny desk.
On the up side, having a room with no view was quiet. This would have been ok for a couple of nights but not the 7 nights I stayed.

Check in was quick and easy, arrived an hour before check in time and there was a room available for us. The weather was very hot, there was a fan in our room but it didn’t provide much cool air, I heard many guests having the same complaint so I think air conditioning would be beneficial to improve service. The lift is also a bit awkward as you can only fit two people in at a time. Overall good location as it’s in walking distance to the centre of London, it was affordable for one night but wouldn’t want to stay for any longer. We didn’t opt for breakfast so can’t comment on the food

I checked out and booked a stay at the Bedford hotel across the street and demanded a refund from Hotels.com

Thistle Bloomsbury Park is an excellent place to stay when travelling to/from St. Pancras which is actually walking distance. As I was a single traveller my room even though small was equipped with all amenities. The staff at the reception and breakfast room were very friendly and courteous. I will stay here again when travel with the Eurostar!
