We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The room was clean, comfortable, and the location was excellent for exploring London. What truly stood out was the staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help with a smile. We felt genuinely cared for throughout our visit. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to other travelers. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Always have a good stay here, staff are very friendly and helpful.
The room was very clean, although there were a few small spiders and ants in the bedroom and bathroom.
We didn't have breakfast included this time, we felt it was a little bit expensive, the breakfast is usually excellent .

Bottom line: this is a very old hotel in great need of refreshing. If you stay here and expect that, you'll do OK. The location at Holborn is A+; close to buses, underground, theatres, restaurants, shopping, and more. However (1) the room's carpets were filthy, (2) the toilet only randomly flushed, and the (3( thermostat took forever to work (heat or cold). The bathroom was another A+: great shower and hot water. The staff did their very best, but the age of the hotel eventually 'won out'.

Comfortable bed. I asked for an extra soft pillow which was supplied without fuss. The standard double room was clean and a very good standard, adaquate for our 2 night stay.
Breakfast was everything you could wish for. Tables were kept clean and used plates cleared away promptly. All ataff were very pleasant and eager to please. We had an evening meal which was ok but could have been better. Waitress was good. Prices were reasonable for London.

Fantastic location, close to Oxford street shopping but also minutes away from the tube & a bus stop right in front of the hotel. Will definitely return on my next trip to London!

Lovely room, however disappointed that we had to call maintenance to unblock the sink as we arrived, then the following morning as there was no hot water! We had to use another room to shower prolonging our departure from the hotel and causing us to cancel our plans for the remainder of our stay in London. Was a celebratory trip gone wrong I’m afraid!

Although I know you can pay for an early check in, we were there at 2.40 and were told our room wasn’t ready so had to
Sit in reception and wait …..it was miraculously ready at almost 3pm on dot! Thought that was a bit petty making us wait
Then on the second day we went out for day at 10am and didn’t get back till 3pm as wanted to freshen up before going out again to eat - no sooner had we got in our room than the maid knocked and asked if she could clean /refresh so we declined. I don’t understand why this was done that late in day

This was a Christmas trip for my Mum, I thought I give her a surprise treat, we booked in on 22nd December, great location as described but I want to say a huge thank you to the staff, warm welcome, swift booking in, the Junior suite was amazing the room was clean and tidy, and such lovely touches like mini bar and Nespresso coffee machine and plenty of towels and soft dressing gowns, and the breakfast was great selection, hot and cold to choose from only drawback a bit hectic around the toaster . Will use this hotel again and would recommend 100 percent, thank you for a perfect start to Christmas, see you soon.

The hotel is beautiful, and the location cannot be beat… So close to the vibrant downtown yet in a quiet and residential area. The rooms are a bit sparsely decorated, and the wait for hot water is something which should be remedied, however the stay is more than comfortable.

My only issue is the buffet breakfast was not vegan friendly. All food was grouped together , freash fruit placed next to cold meat. Cooked options only included mushroom and tomato's which was also placed right next to egg and cooked meat.

We were given a nice quiet room at the back of the hotel, no noise at all. Good size room but it lacked any nice little details. No bottles/carfe of water, no box of tissues. The toiletries were really bad quality. But the window would open and you could control the rooms temperature. The breakfast was ok. But the food was offered like warm. The quality of the orange juice was awful but the staff were great.

Idris on reception was delightful. Professional, chatty and was happy to give us information about the local area. We requested fresh milk for tye room and went and fetched this himself for us. 5 star service from him😊
All the staff were chatty and courteous and couldn’t do enough for you. We would stay again for sure.

Managed to get an early check in but in a different room. We were given an accessible room, which was fine, however the walk in shower did go all over the bathroom floor, as the shower curtain isn't quite wide or long enough.
Bed was very comfy. Staff are really friendly.
We were on the 2nd room and we did get noise from the street at night until quite early in the morning.
We would stay again but would ask for a quieter/higher floor room if possible.

Its been a few years since I have used Thistle opting for more modern hotel brands of late when visiting London.

The hotel lacked warmth and atmosphere. The room was cold and some of the corridors even colder. Despite increasing the room control, there was little impact. The bar was sterile and the menu gave reason why the restaurant appeared sad and lonely.

Such a shame as I am a big fan of Holborn which itself has plenty to offer and excellently located. Ultimately, Thistle appears to be a brand with its best years in the rear view mirror.

I'm looking forward to a future for Thistle that restores the great heritage of yesteryear but embraces the best features of contemporary hospitality.
