The whole hotel smelled like doo doo. We were on the -5 floor, the staff kindly tried to help and move us to -4, it got better but after a few hours the smell was absolutely diabolical. They really need to sort this.

The room was nice however there was some problems we found. The air conditioning wasn’t working too well and we had found silverfish, which wasn’t very pleasant especially considering the price I had paid just for one night one would probably expect better. But over all it was clean and inhabitable.

The hotel was nice and clean . We just needed a place to sleep so underground didn’t bother me .
The only issue was the aircon . It was a very hot day outside and despite having the aircon on full the room temp didn’t drop below 22 overnight . I didn’t want it cold but it was a a tad too warm .

This is a creepy, dystopian hotel four stories underground. If the creepiness and claustrophobia weren't enough, my shower didn't drain and my air conditioning didn't work. No one came to swap out my soaking towel (from cleaning up the non-draining shower). Stay anywhere else if you can afford it.

Really unhelpful staff, asking for £15 PER BAG to hold in a single locker for 30 minutes. Really rude about it.

Not soundproof at all, don't think it is or maybe you room will be because it sure as hell ain't. Wait until you hear the Lizzy line blasting past every 2 mins.

No amenities at all, weird frosted glass is all that's between the bedroom and toilet/bathroom... didn't enjoy looking into my pals eyes through the hole in the glass while he shat - not his fault though.

No shelves... ANYWHERE nor any place to put clothes. No fridge, no snack machines, no access to drinking water. Felt like we were in District 13 in Hunger Games. My friend considered standing in the hallway and bellowing 'PRESIDENT SNOW, PRESIDENT SNOW DO YOU HEAR ME? PRESIDENT SNOW!'

I stayed in a basic room for one night and that's enough for this type of room. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom spotless. The hotel was quiet but you can hear the rumble of the underground trains. The only thing that disappointed me was the hotel charges £15 to look after your bags which I just cannot get my head around.

I thought it would be nice to stay in the unique hotel. But when I arrived, the entrance was not appealing and once in the lobby underground, the carpets the floors, everything was nasty visibly worn. It felt like a one star motel. I was placed into a room where the towel and the grout and water rings were present and it was just completely filthy. Ivan had to go back to the desk and Request and different room where they placed me in a different room that was slightly better but still nasty carpets up and down the hallway nasty floor is nasty grout throughout the room and in the bathroom and in the shower. I slept the first night and started to feel claustrophobic as soon as I woke up and went to the desk to explain that I was starting to feel anxiety and claustrophobia that I had never experienced before. They seemed very nonchalant and told me just to go upstairs and get air if you or someone who has never slept underground before don’t stay here. Not only is it nasty but it could possibly trigger a medical scare where no one is apparently prepared to support you or help you with that process. I would not recommend this place. It was probably one of the dirtiest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. I had to leave attempted to contact Expedia to get help due to my medical trigger and I had never experienced before and so I’m warning any everyone, even if you never suffer from claustrophobia there is a high chance that you may once staying here and they will not offer your refunds.

Would give 0 if possible. Extremely disappointed with both the customer service and the room itself.

Me and my friend booked this hotel months in advance through Hotels.com and received multiple confirmations, including one from Zedwell the day before arrival. We chose the “pay at property” option. When we arrived, the check-in system failed and a rude receptionist told us our booking had been cancelled due to an “invalid payment method” despite no payment ever being attempted and our booking still showing as confirmed on Hotels.com.

As two 18-year-old girls in central London at night with nowhere else to stay, we were understandably distressed. Instead of helping, the receptionist repeatedly said it was “not his problem,” claimed we “didn’t understand,” and tried charging us £130 more for the same room. After we refused and sat in the lobby trying to find somewhere else, he suddenly processed the booking at the original price anyway, making the situation feel very suspicious.

The room itself was awful for the price — tiny, no surfaces, leaking shower flooding into the bedroom, broken air conditioning stuck at 14°C, and constant loud noise from the tube and pipes all night.

Overall, massively overpriced with terrible customer service from one particular staff member who was rude, dismissive, and patronising throughout. Would never return.

No coffee/ tea available , the staff were kind but very restricted and unable to assist customers. No TVs no cupboards or shelves. No where to put your belongings, the shower spilled in to where the beds were located, no phones and no cell service in case of medical emergency. The suggestions were main positives was it was clean and in a great location!!!!!

They need give a better description of the hotel. Maybe suggest that you only stay one or two days definitely no more than that .since the don't give refunds if you check out early. I slept there for one night and hurt my back because the bed was so low to the ground, so I had to find another hotel and they still charged me for days that I didn't stay on there property.

We stayed here for 2 nights to explore London & also attend a show in the area. The location is fantastic for central London as you can literally walk to most places if you are able to. If not the tube station is bang around the corner. Room is basic, but more than good enough for you to get the rest you need after a long day. Underground can be heard when running in your room, but did not really bother us - might do if you are a lighter sleeper though. Only issue we had was with the amenities room. I went to iron my clothes & my girlfriends dress & burnt a hole in the dress as the iron was cheap & not very good. Would probably avoid using them. Apart from that basics done well good cheap stay in central London.

Incredibly poor air con meant the room heated quickly if using the shower or a hair dryer. We resorted to leaving the door open to try to cool it from 25 degrees.

There is absolutely no facilities in the room, not even a chair. I asked for a chair in the room and they said no chairs allowed in the room. I can only sit on the floor. On my second to last day, the staff threw away my personal belongings which are clearly not looking like trash. They refused to give me compensation when I speak to them at the reception, just kicking me around departments and wasting my time. I complaint through hotels.com for twice, and through their WhatsApp agent, they refused to respond to any of these. They still haven’t offer a reasonable compensation to me until now.

Lovely staff that were present at all times. The room itself was nice however, the aircon was intermittent due to the size of the room, this meant it got hot quickly as it turned off. It did cool down quickly though.

The shower was great, it’s worth bearing in mind that you don’t have much privacy from other guests in the bathroom. So make sure you are comfortable with who you stay with in that regard. There are toilets in the lobby that would suit the most shy pooper though.

The room was spartan with no storage. There was nowhere to place bags or hang clothes; they had to go on the floor or the bed. The water pipes were very loud both after use and randomly throughout the stay. Also, what I assume to be the Tube could be felt vibrating the walls while trying to sleep. There was nowhere in the room to get drinking water or refreshments, this was all one floor up in reception. The only towel hooks are right over the toilet and toilet paper dispenser, whichbis unhygienic. The location was convenient.

To be honest, last minute stay, location excellent as we were in the vicinity for a theatre show and literally it was next to the theatre. Very quirky underground hotel, lots of tunnels underground.extremely clean, however, the toilets were like you would get on a plane or cruise ship where it’s sucked away, when you had a shower there was lots of clunking noises and water did not stay hot for very long. Even though it was close to underground station, the noise did not disturb you. You lose all contact with the outside world as there are no windows, WiFi was not that great. No Television or Kettle. It was ok for one night but would not stay any longer than that. Also, can’t check in before 15.00pm unless you pay £40.00 early room or £15.00 to leave your bags each day. Rooms where secure though, had to use room key to gain access to front of hotel and to get through to corridors where the rooms were.

If travelling alone (and with not too much baggage) then this is a solid potential option if cheaper or at an equivalent price to other hotels in the area. If travelling with other people, then you need to be very comfortable sharing your bathroom habits. And not have any stuff as there's nowhere to put anything.

I stayed in a 'cocoon 2' which is a double room. It's essentially a bed, a space that's about 3 feet wide and a bathroom. And it is one of those dreaded frosted glass wall bathrooms.

The sliding glass door also has a gap around 3 sides, so others in the room can hear and smell everything as well as see your silhouette. For some reason, there's no actual door on the shower so water ends up flooding the entire bathroom and leaking out into the main room underneath the gap unless you do some very careful placement with the small shower mat.

There is no storage space. If you have more than one small suitcase, you will struggle not to be tripping over things.

The room is generally quiet in terms of noise from other guests but you can hear the underground trains constantly, given it's 4 floors underground.

Given the extra charges for things included at other hotels as standard, this can quickly become much less of a budget option than it originally appears. For example, £15 per bag storage fee is ridiculous when other equivalent hotels in the area charge nothing.

The staff were very helpful with check in but the room was very disappointing. There was nowhere for us to put our bags and stuff, just a bed and bathroom, so our clothes were on the floor. The bathroom is practically see-through, right next to the bed and with a big hole in the door. So no privacy at all. I found a long dark hair in my bed and both me and my partner are blonde. The room smelled of fresh paint and with no windows we just had to deal with the smell. It’s a great location and easy stay for one night but doesn’t feel cozy at all, actually more unsettling.

Don't stay here if you want to sleep. The tube trains vibrate the entire room and are so loud you can't sleep while they're running. They stop at 00.30am and start again at 5.45am. Staff were friendly and the room was fine but not being able to sleep in a hotel is pretty basic.

I expected a windowless room, it’s an underground hotel after all, but I wasn’t expecting such a tiny basic furniture-less space with such an overpowering smell of cheap cleaning products. This hotel is fine for an overnight stay in central london but I’d look at alternatives in the area if you’re staying longer. One tiny lift serving both the Reception & accommodation floors so expect to wait. Absolutely everything that it is wrong with modern hospitality boiled down to one horribly appointed space - it used to be a car park and retains all the charm of its previous use

The room was clean and pleasant. Staff all friendly and helpful. The toilet flush was a bit aggressive though! The suction was really loud! We were at the end of the row and the nearby underground tube rumbled every now and then but not enough to wake a light sleeper. The taps and shower also made a weird whistling noise when you turned them off.

The room is quite small. The pipes are very loud and creaky, even when not being used directly by yourself. There is no hairdryer or iron in the room, you have to go to a communal “beauty” room to use - makes you feel like you’re in school. Wouldn’t recommend apart from a very brief one night stay.

Calm, uncluttered room, spotlessly clean, with low lighting and sleek feel. Enough sockets with USB sockets. No storage and a few coat hooks for hanging. Temperature controls in the room.
Comfy bed with fresh bedding, decent pillows and good duvet thickness, though the beds are low to the ground.
Nice bathroom, really good shower, lit mirror, nice toiletries and large, soft towels. The toilet had a really aggressive flush and was occasionally noisy.
There was a beauty and ironing room with lots of mirrors with good lighting and hairdryers along with ironing stations. The reception had drinking water and complimentary tea/ coffee facilities. WiFi was really good, I downloaded episodes of a TV show very quickly and our son played games and videos without issue. Phone signal was poor.
Easy self check-in and check-out(with staff available to support).
There was a smell when first entering the corridors/ room which was a unpleasant but this dispersed. There was some intermittent low level underground rumbling/noise but we only noticed it while we were awake and it did not disturb our sleep.
We would definitely stay again if in the area for a night or two but any longer might be tricky with the lack of storage.

this hotel is in an underground bunker at -4 and -5 from street level. There are no windows and if you turn off all the lights in the room you are in pitch darkness - you cannot see your hand in front of your face - or where your phone is or where the light switch is. This I found truly disturbing and claustrophobic - I think a good suggestion would be to have at least slightly illuminated lightswitches. The rooms are below the underground line and so you can feel and her the underground trains rumbling overhead - if you are a light sleeper this is very disturbing. The toilet flush system is super powerful and noisy. you can hear people flushing there toilets in other rooms. The most unpleasant thing was being charged to leave bags both before and after checkin. Your summary of hotel facilities includes luggage storage but it does not mention that it is paying and GBP15 per bag both before and after checkin. This is the first and only hotel I have ever stayed in where this has been applied - not market practice and very dishonest.

The air conditioning in my room didn't work very well. There was a funky smell in the common areas. I had a twin room. One of the beds did not have any mattress protector and the other one had a stained mattress protector so I slept on top of the duvet.

The best part about this hotel is the location. If you want to be right in the mix, central to all major things/metro this place is great for you. The rooms however are stripped to the bare bones. Someone may call that minimalistic but I would call it skimping. These new budget hotels cut corners for profit. Our room still had marking from the builders during construction. And you could just tell it had never been properly deep cleaned. We had to beg for room cleaning and extra towels. You get what you pay for!

The worse experience I've had in 20 years of staying in London!

I had booked a room at 4:30pm, but upon arriving 8 hours later that day, I was informed that my room was unavailable due to a “maintenance issue”.

I had booked the room specifically because I had an early meeting at Tottenham Court Road the next morning, and needed to be nearby. There were tube strikes so wanted to get into London ahead of time.

Upon arriving at the hotel I was asked to sit and wait for 20 minutes without any information. When I was finally spoken to, I was told that my room was unavailable, but not to worry, we’ve got you a room at another hotel.

However, this hotel was across the other side of London – with no Tubes running, and without being provided any transportation. I was trying to work out how I was going to get there at 1am in the morning when the employee faced me and said “what are you still doing here?”.

There was a total lack of empathy or understanding. I can’t imagine what it would have been like to have left someone vulnerable in that position.

Having finally arrived at the other hotel, I managed just a few hours sleep before having to get up early to make my way back to Tottenham Court Road for an early morning meeting.

Everything went wrong with this hotel. The staff did not care about customer needs and hotel smelled horrible and trash stayed in hallway for two days. We got to hotel and we were told the room we booked was not available, so we were given a smaller room. We asked for extra pillows and blanket three days in a row and never received them. We were told cleaning staff left for the day and no one could help. It was one of the worse hotels I have ever stayed at.

Being underground, the tube trains can clearly be heard regularly passing by so I'd advise ear plugs. Also, the only refreshments that the hotel offers is tea and coffee, however when I arrived they'd run out of milk and the next delivery was due the following day - it hadn't arrived by the time I checked out. (there's a nearby Sainsbury's that the hotel staff could have bought some milk from for customers to be able to have tea/coffee in the interim period before the milk delivery arrived). My booking also stated breakfast was provided however the hotel does not provide this. The room was clean and fulfilled its basic function of providing overnight accommodation.

Absolutely freezing. -1 outside and the best i could get the room to was 15 degrees (with help of staff). Weird smell in all corridors - damp?? And the NOISE - tubes going over the room every 30 seconds, good luck sleeping!
Decor is nice though and shower was good

Staff said it would cost £40 to check in 1hr early.
I waited 55mins and went back up to reception. Was told to sit down for 5mins as no check in before 3pm, quite rude.
No hairdryers or iron in the room, you have to go to a communal area to use them.
You can hear the tubes so it’s difficult to sleep.

Frankly it was a bizarre check-in experience. The man on reception sat me down for it, seemed annoyed that I didn't have photo ID (I've not been asked for this at other Zedwell hotels), and then shouted my room number and how to get there. Only one lift. There was a weird smell in reception. Most of my light swtiches didn't work.

My reservation was moved to ANOTHER hotel on the night of my stay. I arrived late at night and was told I had to go to another part of London. Honestly never experienced anything like it. And then I woke up to no hot water. Disaster.

Quiet room

The room was a cool concept and had everything we needed. It was so dark and quiet which meant we got a great night’s sleep however the charge for them to hold your baggage was steep and check-out on Sunday morning was chaos. There aren’t enough lifts to cope with the amount of people checking out and it took a long time for staff to show us where the stairs were as an alternative.

Terrible stay! I had stayed before in the one from.picadilly circus and that was pretty good, but the one in Tottenham Court Rd I would not recommend to my worse enemy. For the price it should be in better condition, all the noises from creaky doors, pipes you can hear turning the night are awful also the tube noice. Terrible experience location is good but would not recommend for more than one night

Excellent location, close to Tottenham Court Road Station so perfect for a trip to Central London.

This place is definitely 'no-frills'. That includes no mattress or pillow protectors. On the subject of laundry, the duvet cover, sheets and towels had many hairs. I know it's been cleaned and didn't matter to me, but perhaps not somewhere for the squeamish.

The communal areas, corridors etc. Smelled very bad. To be entirely frank, it smelled like sewers. Luckily this didn't extend into my room.

The plumbing in my room made very loud and strange noises after running the tap or shower. I hope this didn't disturb my neighbour.

I didn't rate the customer service very highly. I was passing the hotel a couple hours before check in and thought I'd ask if my room was ready on the off-chance. The lady at the desk actually laughed which, even if she'd been asked that question a hundred times that day, wasn't a reasonable response. Upon check out I wasn't asked if I'd enjoyed my stay either.

£15 per bag for left luggage also seems excessive, especially with a relatively early 10am checkout time.

Unlike other reviewers, I found the WiFi acceptable and must have been in a quieter room as I wasn't disturbed by the underground trains at all.

Clean and tidy, compact rooms and 5 levels underground, you'll be surprised. The rooms are quiet and comfortable, if not super spacious.

You might struggle with the floor level beds, which are low but very comfortable once you get to them.

Friendly helpful service at the reception level, but limited signage at the street level entryway. Keep your eyes peeled!

Second time staying here!

Good price and great location.

Would recommend you take ear plugs if you’re sensitive to sound because you can hear the pipes, but apart from that it’s a great stay!
