The Jesmond Hotel appears tired. The curtains are coming off the rod, a crack in the ceiling has tape on it, and the bed was uncomfortable. The best parts of the hotel are the staff, who are wonderfully kind and helpful; the breakfast, which is more than plentiful; and the location.

Good location, easy walk to the British Museum and other entertainment, good access to tube, train, & restaurants . Definitely not a chain w/classic British feel. Lovely little garden. Breakfast was good but I would have preferred a later seating option. Be prepared to climb a LOT of stairs; I had to haul my bags up to the third floor as the woman present when I arrived never offered any other option. Breakfast is served in the basement so MORE stairs. Single room was very small.

Recommended! The staff was lovely, our room was upgraded and very comfortable, and the location near Soho and Covent Gardens was super convenient. The building is very charming with old fireplaces and a garden in back. We didn't end up having breakfast here, though it's included given the B&B style accomodations. We made sure to book a room with a private bathroom, which was clean and a good size. Would stay again!

Our room was clean, a little small but welcome to London. Beds were comfy. Loaction was good. We could walk to alot of different areas and if not, the tube was close by. Extremely noisy all night, didn't get any sleep, bright lights were shining into the room and we could'nt block out the light because the curtains were hanging off the track, the toilet was stained brown, and the brim of the toilet was stained yellow, the carpets were dirty, the bathroom door was broken with lumps of wood flaking off, I couldn't use the shower without washing my hair, the water went everywhere and flooded the bathroom, the whole hotel needs updating and cleaning. The garden was not looked after, and it wasn't pleasant to sit out there. Absolutely wouldn't recommend

Hotel is one of several in this length of old building. The interior is attractive and there is a large garden in the back that’s very pleasant to visit. The room with two beds has two chairs, though they were so large the space was cramped. Even so, it was very comfortable. Price included full English breakfast that was great. Definitely will try to book for next visit.

The Jesmond is a nice place to stay and is conveniently located in an area with many shops, restaurants and access to public transportation. The daily breakfast was tasty and there were several options to choose. All the staff were helpful and pleasant. We shared a bathroom on the top floor. The bathroom and shower area were clean. The shower had ample hot water, although it drained slowly and overflowed a bit onto the floor. It would have been nice to have a clean hand towel daily in the shared toilet area, or a hand towel in the room in addition to the bath towel provided by the hotel. I would recommend the Jesmond to others and I would stay there again.

This was our first visit to London, and we had a great stay at the Jesmond Hotel. The manager was very friendly and helpful, and served a tasty, made-to-order breakfast each morning. The hotel is conveniently located within a 10 minute walk of a tube station, sightseeing buses, a grocery, and the British Museum.

The staff were all vey polite, helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very good. The Jesmond has a lovely secluded small oasis of a garden which guests can use. For me, its location was perfect being close to Euston station and easy walking distance of Covent Garden, Leicester Square, Trafalgar Square etc; and being close to several underground stations on various lines.

Yes, the room was small but it had everything I needed and the stay was very pleasant and good value for money, especially for London.

The Jesmond is wonderful. I highly recommend it. Do be sure, however, to check which floor you are on. The top floor is 6 flights up and there is no elevator. Someone with limited mobility would not be able to stay on the top floor. That said, I loved my single room. It face the garden and was quiet at night. I was in London to do research at the British Library, which is a short walk (.6 miles).

Perfect location, reasonable price

I booked well in advance based on the locale (Bloomsbury), positive reviews, and bargain pricing compared to other area hotels. My room was a twin bed single + ensuite. Compact. No room for a desk, chair, wardrobe or such if that's what you need, but was fine with me. Bathroom is small but ok, but the shower leaves no elbow room (it has one of those rain heads, but there's no escaping it in this skinny phonebooth, so you have to turn it off to wash and shampoo, then back on again to rinse).

Considering the location, it was quieter than I expected -- even with the windows open, as Gower St isn't a major thoroughfare and has no bus service. Buses are a couple short blocks away, as is the Goodge Tube Station (the Russell Square station and big Euston hub are each a half-mile away). The British Museum is just a 5-minute walk down the street, the Dickens' Museum twice that, while Covent Garden, Piccadilly Circus, Soho, Carnaby St, Regents Park and more all within a 15-20 minute walk.

A full English breakfast is included every morning, plus help yourself to a bowl of fresh fruit, cereals, coffee, tea, OJ, etc. That'll save you a good 15-20 quid or more per day otherwise. Wifi was fast, but there were a couple brief outages while I was there, probably their ISP to blame, so out of their hands. There is no elevator, but someone is available to lug your luggage up or down if need be. Also no A/C, although the house will provide a fan if needed.

Stayed 5 nights, would so again.

A fact sheet in each room would be very appreciated....stating the breakfast hours and the hours that the garden was available to use. I was not aware of access to the garden till the day I left. You could also locate areas were restaurants are available close by. While most of us have smart phones not all of use use the location service of these attributes of smart phones. Thank you.

The 5 person room worked well for a family of 5. It is one large room with 5 beds. Tea service and coffee are provided in the room. The breakfast was wonderful as it allowed our family to fuel up and get some good recommendations from our host. Also, the hotel is willing to hold bags before check in / after check out. Vincent, our host, was delightful and full of great recommendations. Highly recommend.

Liked how close it was to theatres & tourist attractions whilst still being in a quiet, safe area. Single room is average size but very comfortable bed so slept well. Tea/ coffee provided in the room & full English breakfast was beautifully cooked. Staff are friendly & welcoming. There is a little garden at the back where you can sit out too. As it's an old building be prepared for lots of stairs to your room.

Amazing service

The manager, Vince, was absolutely amazing. He told me about the building and the area it is in, which is very historical. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels and he provided me with the most thorough orientation to my stay in the hotel. It made a great impression on me. The whole staff was very concerned with making my stay exceptional. I would also like to mention that the hotel is within easy walking distance of at least 3 tube stops. Very conveniently located.

Good for a stopover although the room was tiny but it was clean. Our room was at the front and we stayed during the summer - so it was sleep with the window open and put up with the traffic noise or sleep in a sauna. Breakfast was okay but avoid the sausages. Staff were very helpful.

The place was easy to find and very close to Tube stations.
It was a small room, but that was expected. 4 single beds in one room. They can be pushed to a full size.The room had no A/C and was very warm, but we were given a fan for the night.The night was cool enough.
The bathroom is tiny, but very clean and just perfect for a quick clean up and privacy. The towels were large enough as someone had mentioned the small size, but they must have used a hand towel!! Lol!!
We were happy with it all and would Use it again for the night stay prior to airport departure. The walk to Pancreas International was 20mins. Goodge St underground was 5 mins away.
There are great museums near by- Zoology and Egyptian archeology. The British Museum. The Big Bus tour stop was 5 mins away on Southampton Row Road/ Green link and travel to 2 stops and change to Red link. So easy.

This is an older hotel but the rooms are very clean and sufficient for my stay. It was located within walking distance of a number of subway stations so it was very easy to get around London. The cooked breakfast was absolutely amazing and I would stay at this hotel again for the breakfast alone!

I have stayed at the Jesmond before, and always try to stay there if I am visiting London. It is affordable and close to Euston (where I arrived) and St Pancras (where I departed from the next day) and to Bloomsbury, British Museum etc. It is clean and comfortable and the staff are always helpful. Rooms are small, but that is to be expected given the price and location (central London is *very* expensive)

This 2 star hotel is small with breakfast including cereal,fruit, coffee, etc as well as a full English breakfast made to order (eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, tomato). The barthroom was brand new and very nice. The room itself is quite small (no room for a desk, a char, a dressor, etc.). We stayed 2 people in a room with 3 beds and could store our luggage and clothes on the 3rd bed. It would have been incredibky tight otherwise. My only minor complaint was that the blankets were quite worn and thin (and not washed as frequently as sheets). And although the room had a hair dryer there was no mirror near an outlet (no mirror in the room and no outlet in the bathroom).

The Jesmond Hotel Is an extremely nice bed-and-breakfast in the beautiful area of Bloomsberry in London. The staff was extremely courteous. The breakfast was good, and the area is wonderful. It’s very centrally located, and the hotel was very clean. Plus, there’s a gorgeous garden in the backyard that you can take advantage of.

Cute place, family run and they were very pleasant and accommodating. The room was small - like a dorm room - but I knew of this ahead of time. Breakfast was very good - traditional English breakfast, but they were willing to modify as desired. I stayed during the recent heat wave in London, so the room became unbearably warm during the day. The small bedside fan was not adequate for cooling the room, so I had to escape by 8:30 am.

I was down here for a work trip. It was only an overnight stay but the facilities provided were all fine. The room was on the top floor and quiet. A hairdryer, kettle, TV and tea/coffee are provided in the room. WiFi is complementary and worked fine. The breakfast was surprisingly good - I only had toast but the full English and continental looked great from what I saw.

Overall very good. Staff were very good, especially breakfast and cleaning staff. Breakfast was consistently excellent, with fast, courteous, efficient service. Desk staff were also very helpful when we needed additional city information. One little thing is that it would be nice if they added the amenity of having stamps a tourist could buy there, and also mailed our mail, like postcards, for us.
