There are shops nearby, the only thing good in the hotel is their continental breakfast, apart from that my room was having a window but i was not able to close it and the WC is very very small

Overall a pleasant stay, check in and out was smooth, room was nice and clean, but the water pressure for the shower was very poor, just trickled out, can't vouch for the rest of the rooms but I was up on the top floor and it wasn't the best.

I was bitten by bedbugs. I just hope that they all stayed in the room and not travelled with me. I didn't mind the shared bathroom or poor sound isolation, but the bites really bother me.

If you are assigned a room near the road, it can be very noisy. Even late at night, you can still hear many cars passing by, which makes it hard to get a good night's sleep. In addition, the basic room type does not have a private bathroom.

I highly recommend Aarran House, with its peaceful environment and comfortable bedrooms, along with helpful staff who showed us how to get around and provided a taste of the lovely food, which was the highlight: breakfast with a healthy variety of choices. I will definitely visit London again because of the hotel. Thank you.

The room is extremely tight. I have never seen a room with this tight space. This is a fraction of a room. The add for the rooms is absolutely misrepresent the actual shape of the room. I will never come back to this hostel! This not an hotel at all. It is a hostel.

Room was lovely, clean and spacious. The man on reception very nice and helpful. Continental breakfast did the job. Good price. Only feedback to improve would be the shower cubicle could benefit from a shelf for products to be put on and a mat for when coming out the shower as we were only given a towel each and the floor got wet without a mat.

The walls and floor of the room were in poor shape. Cracks and chipped paint and torn carpet. The bed sheets were far too small for the mattress and came off the mattress easily in the night. Room service would still attempt to barge in after letting them know I was still in the room. Had to go next door for breakfast, which was very crowded and had poor selection.

Stayed in Room 10 on the top floor, was a room for 4 people but we were a group of 3 adults, easy checkin man on reception was really friendly. Was aware no lifts but quite a lot of stairs with heavy suitcases, first impressions of the room was good, but more close inspection lots of dust about especially on light switches for wall lamps, electric sockets moved whilst plugging or unplugging the phone, not sure that would pass H&S, bathroom was smaller than a caravan bathroom, so used the bathroom opposite, not idea, but it was bigger. Breakfast is in the hotel next door and got extremely busy and the room is quite small, if full you can sit in the reception area where there are table and chairs found this really odd. Would stay again due to the location. Hotel lovely and warm and all staff are friendly

The staff at the reception are excellent ! Had to go next door for breakfast where the kitchen staff also were very good.
But I give it okay rating as could not sleep all night because of rattling noise all night which I could night as I had a work event next day.

The room was spacious with a very nice bathroom. However there is no AC (not a problem as we were there in November) and a table fan is provided. The deluxe King is in reality a queen size bed (60 inches wide and not 76 inches) due to the different UK and North American definitions of a king bed.

It's a great location for staying in central London within a short distance to the tube, buses, and shopping. The breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of choices.

The room was beyond basic and very small. The shared bathroom may not be for everyone. Beds were clean and comfortable. We spent little time in the hotel, so it was OK. Otherwise, I would have rethought my choice.

You get what you pay for with the rooms. They need a bit sprucing up and the beds needs updating. Besides that, rooms were very clean and came with everything you need for the weekend. The TV with Netflix was a godsend for a tired child at the end of the day!

Transport links are near the hotel are great! Theres multiple underground stations only a few minute walks away that take you right up the landmarks, the west end etc in minutes.

Hotel was quiet and even outside was silent at night which i found surprising as we stayed the weekend all the new uni students moved in down the street. Not a sound and I had the window open. The shared bathroom is extremely clean and semsbto be restocked and cleaned down frquently. The breakfast was lovely, its was my family's favourite part of the stay! Staff let us leave our bags after we checked out as well so we could explore London more before our coach came. Staff were extremely welcoming and helpful.

The only thing that made me uncomfortable with this hotel was that while we were out the maids had let themselves into our room too refill the teas, coffee and biscuits without our knowledge. We didn't leave the hanger on the door asking them to do so. We found that they had folded all our belongings up and tided all our clothes into our suitcases. This may seem nice but, to us it felt like an invasion of privacy. We had left alot of our belongings out.

I'll be back!

I like the area and it's easily accessible from the Piccadilly line which is important to me. It's also easy to get to from the Elizabeth line but coming in from Heathrow the fare on the Piccadilly line is less than half what you pay on the Elizabeth line!
On this trip I had a pleasant pause at Russell Square Gardens on the way to my room from the train

My kids and I had a wonderful stay at the Arran. Location coild not be bettered for aalking about to the British Museum and anto the National Gallery and the West End.

The Arran Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful.

The continental breakfast included is really good too.

I can thoroughly recoomend a stay here.

Friendly efficient staff but this alter the fact that the hotel is in desperate need for a refurbishment. The room we had (room 18) had a double bed and a single, the bathroom was a prefabricated pod in the room to make it into an en-suite bedroom, unfortunately it had not been connected to the soil pipe correctly so had an open sewer smell constantly, there is a extractor fan in the pod which we had to leave on constantly to keep the smell from the bedroom. Management must have known of the problem as there was an air freshener in the pod to try and disguise the smell. Being an old property the floor boards had been lifted and replaced but were uneven loose and dangerous. There is a Tv in the room but the reception is terrible so the channels were pixelated or completely unwatchable. There is WiFi in the room but a very poor signal to the point of being unusable, I gave up on it and connected my iPad to my phone via hotspot.

The hotel is a conversion of two townhouses and every room is different. This was my experience staying in room 30. The room was approximately twice the size of the small single bed it contained. A door opened onto a small, boxed-in exterior patio. Also attached was a shower and toilet cubicle (not all the rooms are ensuite). The one small window was painted over and had not been opened for years. This meant the only way of getting ventilation was to leave the patio door open which some guests might not feel safe. The radiator came on automatically in the morning and made the room excessively hot - it could not be turned off. The reading light over the bed and the shaver point did not work which I reported the next morning. By evening the defective bulb in the light had been replaced but the shaver point was still inoperable. The very helpful desk clerk offered their only three pin adapter but this had loose connections and did not work. He managed to get a working adapter from a sister hotel so I could shave. At this point the door lock to the room which was operated by a key card ceased to work, but they offered me a manual key so I could continue to get into the room. The carpet was badly frayed in one area. There were tea-making facilities and the continental breakfast was acceptable for this class of hotel. I paid approximately £130/night for this room. There are many cheap hotels in this area of London and it is unlikely I will return to this one.

Enjoyed our stay.

The hotel was better than we expected for the price we paid. Service was very good and they were all very pleasant.
We had a basement room, it was spacious and comfortable did not feel like you were in the basement.
The hotel was quite clean but not spotless, the bed was very comfortable.
Location was very good, however Hodge street station closes early so we had to walk from Leicester Square, about a 10/15 minutes walk.
Other wise we were very happy.
I will stay here again and would recommend it.

It was cheap, so expectations were low. The carpet in the room was very tired, and the shower door was broken. But everything was clean, all the basics were there (plenty of tea bags, for example) and worked. Breakfast was good, considering it was included in the low room price - so nothing to write home about, but cereal, toast, coffee, tea, juice.

Not a luxury hotel, one of those where a huge number of rooms are carved out of an old Georgian building, so no elevator, fridge, or microwave, rooms are small, and if you want a good price, you share a bathroom. Complying with fire codes has made it a very rabbit-warreny experience, as every few feet there is a fire door (good).

OK, now that that's out of the way: The place was clean. The staff was very friendly. Probably the best continental bf I have ever had, with fruit, freshly cut cucumbers and tomatoes, 6 types of cereal, hard boiled eggs, and several types of bread. The gluten free options included bread and cereal and a toaster labeled for GF use only. :) Oat and soy milk available for the lactose intolerant.

Well-decorated; my room had posters of local interest, and the halls were all wonderful theatrical posters, excellently hung.

Room cozy, with a fast-acting kettle and with tea, instant coffee provided.

Waterstone's across the street! Close to Goodge St. Tube stop.

Would stay again.

I recently stayed at the Arran House Hotel and had a pleasant experience overall. One of the standout features of this hotel is its prime location; it’s situated in a lovely neighborhood that is close to various attractions, shops, and restaurants, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the area.

When booking your room, I highly recommend ensuring that you choose one with an en-suite bathroom. Some rooms do not have private bathrooms, which could be a downside for some guests. I booked a room with four beds, and I was pleased to find that it included its own bathroom and shower, providing added comfort and privacy during my stay.

One thing to note is that there is no elevator in the hotel, so be prepared to carry your bags up the stairs. This wasn’t a major issue for me, but it’s something to consider if you have heavy luggage or mobility concerns.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Arran House Hotel and would recommend it for those looking for a convenient and cozy place to stay in a great neighborhood!

Was pleasantly suprised as had read negative reviews . Clean friendly stay , the staff were so polite and helpful. The breakfast was of a good standard too . We had to share bathroom and toilet but were very clean . Reception is 24 hr and you get to speak to a person. I discovered the plan is to renovate al rooms to an en-suite design for spring 2025 . A lovely stay for us in the heart of London !

I’m usually pretty relaxed when it comes to overseas hotel experiences (I’m from the states). And in reading the reviews I was hopeful that others were overreacting… they were not. I feel 3 stars is generous. The location was excellent which is ultimately what caused me to book the place. It is very walkable to the tube and restaurants are right around the corner. The accommodations left much to be desired. If you’re spending a day or two in London and need somewhere to crash. Perfect. If however, like me you plan on making it your home base as you take day trips to Stonehenge, Paris, or Dover. Best to book somewhere with a bit higher star rating and more comfortable accommodations.

I was for 7 days and they never changed sheets or towels. They gave me a room without a bathroom, when I made the reservation it was supposedly with a private bathroom, they gave me a room with a shared bathroom, the they told me that those were more expensive. Before making a reservation at a hotel check what they offer.
