Baggage storage was quite expensive (10gbp), early check in was 40gbp. Awkward layout of steps up to the lobby if you have luggage. But great location and decent place. Room small but great price!

At reception there is no chair for hotel staff to sit, they stand 11 hours in a day, I asked them and they were so tired and exhausted to stand whole day. It is inhuman, please give them chair at reception to sit while they serve customers.

Having stayed at STG on several occasions I was always happy with my stay there. I booked a one night stay there on the 22nd April as I was working in the west end. I was late arriving around midnight I went through the self check in ok. I tried to buy a drink from the vending machine I didn’t work as asked a member of the desk he didn’t seem to be bothered and just shrugged and said it wasn’t working, not to worry I thought will get a drink in my room. Get to the room no means to make a hot or even a bottle of water. I went back to reception and asked were can I get a drink! The bar he said wile talking to his colleague. I went to the bar £1.95 for a tiny bottle of water. I had to be back on site early so left the hotel at 5.30 to top it all there was no hot water so had to have a cold shower I let it run for 5mins just incase it would run through it was still cold all in all I wouldn’t book here again

The only thing the hotel has going for it is the location. The bed was uncomfortable, was awake early with a bad back. The TV in the room is the size of a small computer monitor. The ensuite shower drained so slowly I had to cut my shower short because the tray was about to overflow. The tap on the sink required two hands to lift it up. The room was really tired looking. The seemed to be constant queues for the elevators and the room was down a corridor that felt like you had entered the cheap end of the hotel. Check-in and check-out is done at a computer with no human interaction unless you are a member of their executive club, then there were two staff doing nothing. Only reason I stayed was because of the tube strike and I needed to be in walking distance of the office. Never again!

I had booked a twin room here, they gave me room 384. As soon as i got in i saw a HUGE bed bug on the blanket just crawling around. Left the room ASAP, asked for a better room. They put on the 8th floor in a \"refurbished\" double room which felt a bit cleaner. The second room was alright but the first one felt really depressing...

Mattresses and pillows were harder than hard - difficult to get comfy at all. No kettle in room. Very basic black metal beds - the bedframe stuck out beyond the mattress, so we both bashed our legs on them. Restaurant was good for dinner - very fast service.

Room was small and clean enough. Bathroom was an outdated some rust and cracks and was some crumbs in our bath tub & a little smelly.
Staff were ok, helped but not overly happy or enthusiastic.the biggest disappointment was needing to pay to keep your luggage in the holding room as couldn’t check in till 3pm, I think it is ridiculous that you should to pay to store your luggage when already paying over £100 for a room especially when asking for £10 per bag! That is a lot of money for a family visiting for 2 days! I have never had to pay to keep luggage stored in other hotels.

Room was adequate for our purpose, ie watching a show, very good location. However the check in system was poor, i was sent a request a few days before to check in on line with credit card details and when we arrived i reaslised why. We were approx 3/4 hr early for check in and totally understood that, as with all hotels if the room isnt ready you cant have it, however we were told that if we wanted to check in early it would be £20, and if we wanted to leave our bags, that would be £10 each. Very unusual and meant we had to hang around the area waiting instead of dropping off thw bags and getting on with our day. Seems as if the hotel took any opportunity to try and get money, also warned that if we checked out late, even a few mins, we would be charged. I will say that staff did make this clear and they were all helpful, but the policies and extra charges for everything means i would not use again

I've been a regular visitor to the st Giles hotel, now known as STG. It's under different management. Check in time is 3pm and they now charge £10 per bag to store them. 3 bags storage for checking in and for checking out £60 total. Factor this extra cost in when booking.

Also, dirty walls in the room and no room cleaning unless you pay an extra cost again.

Was was dated but clean. No tea or coffee or kettle in the room. The vending machine sticks so don’t use for water or you may pay 2/3 times before getting one. Tried to book a late check out on line but no response so paid at the desk. Then was asked to pay again by an email link. Best thing was some of the staff. The breakfast in the à la carte was excellent. In the buffet the toaster was on fine, took 3 visits to the coffee station and the orange juice was disgustingly sweet.

The hotel was conveniently placed for main tube links and attractions.
The room was clean with lots of storage space. The shower was good with hot water and good pressure.
There was no air conditioning and even with radiator turned of the room was uncomfortably warm making sleeping problematic.
The girl wanted to charge £10 per item to store luggage which I found unacceptable especially as we only needed it for an hour prior to check in

Staff at the desk seem unhappy if you approach them instead of using their self-check in service, even if you have a question you need to ask that isn’t about check-in.

Fire alarm went off in the middle of the night. Fire exits were not clear or well maintained and I had to move a step-ladder aside at the bottom of the stair well. No communication with staff during the hour or so stood in the cold alongside hundreds of other people. The disrupted night wasn’t worth the cost.

The room itself was ok, clean, tidy. No kettle or coffee station which is a first for me in a London hotel room.

New management has adopted the worst practices of budget airlines, with extortionate pricing for basics like arriving at 1:30 pm for 3 pm checkin time - 20 pounds. Storing luggage -- 10 pounds per piece. Room cleaning -- extra charges. This attitude toward customers stinks.

Has changed since my last stay, it now has different owners. Self check in and out is now in place and whilst it works there’s no substitute for real reception. Room was clean as normal, along with the hotel on general. You no longer get tea/coffee making facilities in your room, which is a shame, especially as it was still listed as being provided when I booked and paid for my stay. Breakfast used to be a buffet, but now you have a choice of a buffet or à la carte. The à la carte I think is an improvement on the buffet breakfast you used to get. I didn’t try the buffet this stay, so can’t comment on how it compares. Luggage storage is still provided for guests, but is now charged at £10 an item where I never had to pay before.
Whilst there has been changes made since my previous stay, I assume to bring it in line with the new owners other hotels and reduce running costs, the hotel remains a good place to stay if you’re planning on a city break in London. Ideally placed for a lot of the theatres and Oxford St shopping.
I will be back again.

I have stayed at this hotel 6 times previously with no problems.
The location has always been the main draw, however i always found everything else to be of a reasonable standard.
This time, no real lock on door, 1 hand towel for 2 people, no other towels. Carpet in room was damp and in massive need of replacement. No extra pillows. Lifts bearly work. 10 quid charge for bags is a disgrace.
I am very sad about this hotel, it needs serious updating and improvements.

This place was perfect for me, especially for the price. The staff was helpful, hot breakfast was good—coffee was not so good but that’s not worth a bad review. If you want better coffee and a change of breakfast, there is a small diner on the corner. Room was clean. Only thing for me was that the shower was clogged. It was resolved quickly. Some people complained about the elevators being slow but it wasn’t an inconvenience for me. Great place for the price and location. I will stay again.

STG is an ideal place to stay in London, ideally located for transport links and attractions, rooms clean and well maintained. Having happily stayed at what was St Giles for many years it was was extremely disappointing to find that the once free baggage storage is now an exorbitant £10 per piece per day, arrive early £20, want to check out and travel later £20… money grabbing at its worst. Also disappointing was finding that the tea / coffee making facilities for the room had been taken away- more penny pinching and very sad. Will be looking at alternate options in the future factoring in location, baggage storage and free breakfast in the overall price.

My credit card was charged 300£ this morning after I checked after I checked out. This stay was already pre-paid for through Expedia with no incidental charges incurred. I brought this up to the gentleman that was at the front desk, and said there was nothing he could do at that moment and trust he would have it done before the end of the day. So I had to follow up via email with this specific staff member and the business account and no one has contacted me.

The space was clean, but they only provide you with one towel, no wash cloths. Please be aware if you arrive early they will want to charge 10£ per item if you want them to hold your luggage until you are able yo check-in.

Please be aware of credit card charges as soon as you check out.

As a returning customer to this hotel for over 15 years, I am so disappointed with my most recent stay last week. The hotel has recently been bought by another company and there have been big changes from what I have seen.
Check in was a bit of a disaster mainly because of a system problem which I wouldn't have minded the wait except they didn't communicate anything to us as we tried to do the self check in.

The rooms have been changed and what use to be a spacious enough room now has this extra bulky furniture added in and it makes things very tight for moving about.

My stay was for 3 nights and not once did anyone come to clean or change towels or give toilet roll. I had to go down to reception and queue every time I needed anything like towels as did all the other guests. It was a bit ridiculous having to queue for these things along with other guests who were queuing to check in. I do feel sorry for the staff that are there (and there's not that many of them) as they were getting most of the guests annoyance.

The have gotten rid of the tea/coffee making facilities in the room and this is now stated on their website. It definitely wasn't there when I booked in January.

The big one though is the charge they now have for luggage storage. £10 per item which was not listed on hotel website either when I booked. Extremely steep especially if you are arriving early and leaving late.

WIFI was also very hit and miss.

All in all a very disappointing stay

Bombarded with WhatsApp messages to complete a pre-check in form, including credit card for incidental expenses and photo ID, yet when arrived none of this seemed to be on the system and the pre-approved card was of a type not accepted. Attempt to up-sell you early check in etc at every opportunity. Check-in strictly restricted until 3pm, but you can only leave luggage at the hotel if arriving earlier if you’re prepared to pay a charge of £10/item - same with leaving after check out. Room was in a grimy, yet-to-be refurbished part of the building. Hairs in bathroom. No iron in room.

Positives: Spotless, hard flooring so good for asthma sufferers. Air con efficient. Window which could open a bit to air the room. En suite for single room. Automated checkin efficient too. Vending machine for essentials. Cafe and bar on site. Chiller for cold drinks in room and a safe.
To consider: Only one thin towel (it was enough for me and I expect you could ask for more). My ear plugs were useful as on floor 1 you can hear the street in the evening. It’s a large and busy hotel so the lifts are in demand. No coffee making facilities in room though there are cafes within a few steps of the hotel.

Twin room was clean and beds really comfy. Only a small window but we had aircon so not too bad although a little noisy to leave on at night.
Hotel ideally situated for London sightseeing and theatre district. Tube station two minute walk away and lots of nice little pubs and restaurants. Although we didn’t have a kettle in our room there is a 24 cafe in the hotel so perfect for a cuppa in the morning. Would recommend the hotel and Will definitely be back again.

The only good thing about this hotel is that it was clean and conveniently located.
The website made it look as though it was going to be a luxurious stay, it was not! I would not have liked to stay here alone, as there was a large gap under the door, no lock on the bathroom door and no phone in the room. Very, very noisy. There was no kettle, no spare towels or pillows. The shower set of the fire alarm and were then told off for smoking in the room by the staff… when we had not at all been smoking. So next showers included keeping bathroom door open, window open and trying to make sure the shower was not too hot. Which could be awkward depending on who you are traveling with.

The lobby was very strange. The impression I got from the website was not met when the reception is a table with boxes propping up laptops. I have never had to queue for a hotel lift before, especially when there are 4 of them. But we had to give up waiting for them to come after a while and attempt to find the stairs, which was another challenge.
We did not use the cafes or restaurants just because the vibe in the rest of the hotel was a bit odd. I think some redecoration or something to at least make it feel more like the website would help.

Brilliant location right beside Tottenham Court Road station! Was a bit disappointed that we had to pay £10 each to have our bags stored until check-in or £20 for early check in. The bed wasn’t very comfortable pretty hard in fact! No coffee making facilities in the room either. Bathroom was clean but the water took forever to warm up. Didn’t have many interactions with staff so can’t comment on that. All in all the location made up for the down points of the hotel and I had a great time in London

The room is clean. But the shower was not working well that I needed to hold the button to ensure the shower water coming from the top. It’s charged 10 ponds for a piece of suitcase storage. There was no kettle in the room. You have to request one when you need it. The staff said that it caused more work for them under this arrangement.

Don't be deceived by the pictures, the rooms are not updated, and in a period of building work everywhere (and it happens before 9am!). You don't get any hand towels, and no tea/coffee facilities. there are three restaurants, but also plenty around. No-one tells you the luggage storage costs £10 an item.

No tea and coffee facilities any more but I would have still paid for these when I booked before the hotel changed companies. Had to ask for the shower and toilet to be plunged. There was a water machine right outside the room which was extremely noisy. I had to put a blanket at the base of the door to block out the very bright light from the corridor. Should not be charging £10 to put bags in so therefore had to pay for early check-in anyway.

Rooms small. Main issue is the walls are too thin, you can hear conversations being held inside rooms across from your room. So don’t expect to get a good nights rest.

Check-in perfunctory, no hello, enjoy your stay etc. Lobby under renovation so check-in very make-shift. Used to stay here and sad to see no tea making facilities in rooms and shower head pipe leaked. Reno could have been better.

First room smelled off smoke. Had to change it.
Storing luggage for 1 hour pre checking or post check put costs £10 per luggage!
Poor service wouldn’t stay here again
