Staff was nice and helpful, room was really good, a bit old-fashioned but well furnished. Breakfast was wonderful. Garage is very convenient even for a big suv.
The hotel itself is a bit far from old town but public transportation is only 2min away.
Definitely recommend staying at Mariott.

Overall pleasant stay, but property is a bit dated now and in need of an overhaul. Room was comfortable, but some wear & tear in bathroom. Great staff, food was good at breakfast, OK at dinner (as a vegetarian, limited options). So, good price, good location. Would stay there again.

Hotel bar and overall customer service were fabulous. However, their key system crashed so we spent almost an hour sitting on the floor outside our room while the manager went floor by floor letter people in at 0100. They did not provide any kind of discount for the inconvenience. In the morning, it did not feel like they were prepared for the sheer number of guests that wanted breakfast (holiday morning) and the process was a little chaotic. Food was great. Not a very relaxing stay overall.

We won't be coming back

Booked two rooms for our family, got put on different floors at opposite side of hotel.
Room was comfortable and clean, though bathroom very much in need of refurbishment.
Read the fine print: what looks like complimentary water in the rooms is actually €5 each.
Came down to restaurant at 9pm to have dinner on patio, was told it was no longer possible to get service on patio. Sat inside, watching those out on patio get full dinner service. Our drinks came after our food.
Breakfast buffet was good.
€25 for overnight parking, such a racket.
Overall, a disappointing experience, not worth nearly what we paid. We'll certainly be coming back to Heidelberg, but not to the Marriott.

We loved everything about this property. The staff were all so kind every time we approached them. They never seemed bothered & always seemed sincerely interested in helping you. It’s also very helpful that they spoke English. The property is a bit of a walk, but definitely walkable to old town & the zoo if you have kids. If you prefer not to walk there is always a taxi or Uber sitting in front of the hotel waiting to go. The ride is very short & cheap to old town. You can also find Uber lime scooters out front to rent, too. The resturant inside is great! We had all 3 meals there & food was great for all. Servers were all fantastic, as well. Bottled Water needed in your room…no problem, they will bring it up to you. Need a charger or adapter…no problem, you can get one there, too. ATM in hotel is very convenient. They have everything you need. It’s very safe. You must have a keycard to get in the elevator to any floor beyond the lobby. Parking is available on site for a fee. The pool was great, although not heated, but it is indoors. The room was beautiful. Has alot of charm to it. Some would say it could use some updating, but if you like charm you will love it. We would definitely recommend staying here & will return.

Hot items were at best lukewarm.had to wait for ~15 minutes to get the potatoes and finally when they arrivef, they were absolutely cold. had requested early check-in, butvwerevasked to waitfor two gours beforewe could get into our room. Does not live upto the Marriott brand name.

Very limited television channels. No CNN or BBC. River view was nice(at a cost). Staff were top notch. Wi-Fi was poor. Couldn’t watch Netflix without buffering. The hotel was very quiet. A little pricey for lack of entertainment in room and dial up speed Wi-Fi. 25-30 minute walk to old town.

I loved everything about this hotel except the Hamburger! Location is great, staff are fantastic, amazing breakfast, and nice pool! However, we enjoyed the location so much that we decided to stay for lunch even after checking out and the hamburger I ordered wasn't good at all, could not eat it. When we mentioned that to the waitress (she saw it was not eaten) there was no reaction -- no apology and we still had to pay 21 euros for it. Too bad.

We were doing a road trip through Germany, which meant changing hotels every few days. The Marriott Heidelberg was a splash of luxury that was greatly needed -- actual air conditioning, a pool and sauna, and wonderfully comfortable beds. It's a nice, quiet property right on the river and not far from the old town and castle.

Nice location, although out of town very good Tram,Bus and walking access to the Alte Stadt.
Excellent restaurant, friendly staff. Some facilities looked a little tired and the hotel bar was closed some weekday evenings.
The riverbank gardens & service was a pleasant bonus.

On check-in my daughter and I were told about about the continental breakfast. It was an assortment of fruits, juices and dry breads - not good but not bad - but when something comes with your stay - we took advantage of our time with some yogurt and bagel with our juice or coffee each morning. Because of covid different places have added rules and each time we went in they asked for our name/room number to be placed on a piece of paper for their use - this was never given to us. Well, to my very big surprise at check out they were using those little scrap pieces of paper and saying we were signing up for a full breakfast at a whopping $24euros each! For a total of $350 eruos! I flipped a lid! I would have NEVER eaten if it I knew it wasn't included - it WAS NOT WORTH EVEN $10EURO EACH. Our mornings would have been far better served eating in town and enjoying the various bakery and coffee shops. For this VERY misleading and VERY frustrating reason I leave this poor review.

This property does not meet Marriott's high standards as a hotelier. An older building, very poor heating/AC system.
Showers are usable if you don't mind a temperature fluctuation of 5°C up or down. Something you would expect from a 2star facility. Will not go back there. Marriott should spend some serious dollars bringing this facility up to 2020 standards. It may have been something special in 1980......That was 40 years ago!

The service is (considering covid) under par ... room was cleaned only after the first three days but not after the next three days......
we did not even have soap in the room ... but figured out after a while that is was available in the lobby .....
same applied to coffee (despite a heater in the room) parking is as expensive as in NY in the Standard hotel .. ridiculous and the personal made no attempt to make our stay in any way nice .... (as a Mariott member no access to the lounge or anything) will never go there again ... no MARIOTT standard.. leaving the staff did not even ask if we had a good stay .....

In town for the Christmas Market. It's about a 20 minute walk to the market from the hotel or a easy bus/tram ride. Location was great, staff was friendly and helpful, room was clean with a view of the Rhine River. Christmas Market was definitely worth the stay and then a ride up to the old castle gave some spectacular views of the city. Definitely worth the stay!

If you expect that you are in five stars hotel, then you select the wrong one. The building is old, cleaning service is bad, organization is not the best. Common areas are poor, sauna is so small, pool is cold, no spa, no jacuzzi. Too expensive for the quality provided. The only good thing is the front desk staff, they are very nice and helpful.

Location was good , convenient for tram ,view is lovely. Room was a bit shabby with cracked sink and old furniture. We had to ask for coffee etc to be re filled and for milk every day. Room wasn't serviced on last day and we had to request it. Reception staff were very helpful .

We didn’t get to try it but there is a water taxi from the hotel to the centre. The hotel was a bit far from amenities such as restaurants - but we did drive to a super awesome cafe called Laib and Lebnan and have breakfast alongside the canal.
