Rooms were not the same as shown on Expedia, bedbugs, bathroom door didn’t lock, and they charge for everything where in other hotel you are given complementary things on arrivals. There needs to be major changes made to improve the hotel.

The hotel itself is very old. The rooms look like they haven't even been renovated for a long time, and everything looked old. Since it was a hostel, despite getting a private room, it was very loud and you can hear everything. The front desk staff was not friendly either.

Room was clean, staff were exceptional, and location is great. It is an older building with lots of character. Tram and bus are right out front. 4 tram stops from the hauptbahnhof. Great neighborhood with a park and Biergarten right across the street. Will definitely stay here again.

Property is nice and from walkable distance inside the city. Rooms are clean but need renovation. Lobby is renovated hopefully they do the rooms. Lots of mosquitoes. We booked 4 beds, we got 3. Supposedly the room with the bunk bed had a broken key. Staff is friendly. Cleaners are friendly too.

Really nice hotel there was renovations going on the outside of the hotel but this didn’t distract from the stay as it was the weekend and no workers were ther. It’s a bit of a walk to the tourist attractions but it is a nice walk through the park and up to Brandenburg gate. Recommend.

The first room given to us had a horrible view of workers painting the back of the hotel. We complained and they gave us a better room at the front of the hotel. The bathroom had quite new fittings but the shower door was not very good.

Although it may look good from the pictures, it's not. The room was awful, the bed's were uncomfortable and the decor was from the 1940's. It was clean though.
No kettle in the room and the view from the room was scaffolding, as the forgot to tell us about the building work that was going on, from 7am in the morning i may add.
The bunkbeds nearly fell apart and there was no air con, please don't stay here, it's not worth it

I don't think I can offer a negative enough review of this location. The room we were promised was completely different from what we were shown. The place was filthy, noisy, smelled of smoke, and the air conditioning was non-existent. Windows were broken, paint was chipping off, floor was stained, and the bed looked awful. There was no other additional room to offer us. In exchange. We had to petition Expedia to prevent payment. We checked out immediately, and checked ourselves into another hotel which was vastly superior.

When I got to the hotel I found out they didn’t have A/C, I am sure that it needs to be mentioned on a booking platform since it is definitely not what you expect from a hotel. I paid twice the normal price s which is obviously not cheap, but I got a room that was in a terrible condition and looked like renovation there didn’t happen since 1960s. A cherry on the top was that there was a construction just outside of my window. Every single day I would wake up at about 7am cuz of the construction noice and polish construction workers screams.

Great Stay. Easy to check in. Only fault I can have about this place is that my carpet had a lot of staples in the floor but this wasn't a big issue. Good location (10 mins walk from nearest station and plenty of nice cafe's around) and would happily stay here again.

The room was big and clean. The hotel is close to the metro station and the neighborhood is very nice with a lot of restaurants and bars. One of the children's bed was squeaking. The hotel exterior is being renovated but the rooms could use renovating also, as they seem a bit old and stale.

Old Berlin Stule building with charm and flair.
Staff was always friendly and helped opening doors when I came through with the stroller.
The room was spacious and had a clean bathroom with a big tub, which was perfect for my toddler.
Only negative (situational) aspect was that a high school class was boarded around us which was loud until way past midnight, followed by contraction happening on scaffolding outside the window at 8am. Had to keep our curtains closed the whole stay to avoid workers literally standing in our faces.

Very nice staff. We were put in an accessible room on the main floor so it was a little awkward to get to as it was behind the main desk. We were given the option to change rooms after a day if we didn’t like it but we didn’t want the hassle of changing rooms. There is quite bad construction going on at the moment. We would be woken up early, not by loud construction noises, but by the workers speaking very loudly. Our one double bed was comfy, very nice pillows, but the other bed was a bunk bed and it creaked whenever we moved. Good location for just walking around and for transport, but the construction really did hurt the experience.

The staff were really helpful and smiley. While the hotel was rather hidden (hard to find when we first got there) and overall needs a refresher, the room we got was really big so it was comfortable for 3 - 4 person!

Located only a few bus stops for Central Station. Plenty of restruarants, etc. around the area. Staff was friendly, and watched luggage after check-out (which not all hotels seem to be doing these days). Only drawback was that there was work being done on a daily basis (which needs to be done sometimes), but they would start early. Overall, great value !

Very much a get what you pay for hotel. The rooms are incredibly basic but they do the job for a city break. There were building works going on which we were not told about prior to our visit. We were told they would start at 8am, but banging and crashing could be heard from as early as 7am. The location is a short walk to the train station and then it’s an easy journey into the centre of Berlin. We were also put on the same floor as a group of school children that were shouting and slamming doors until the early hours which didn’t help with the earlier than expected building works. Would definitely recommend for a short city break, as it is basic and clean, but anything longer and you may want to look elsewhere.

Good base to see Berlin

This is an ideal hotel if you are just looking for a base to see the city and a bed for the night, so this was perfect for me. The room was small so if you are planning on spending a lot of time in a hotel this might not be the best place for you. I stayed in a single room so I cannot comment on the bigger rooms.

It is located very close to public transport and the staff were friendly when I needed to interact with them. The renovation work did not cause me too much inconvenience (my stay was the first week in October) but I can see how it may bother some people as I saw in other reviews.

The only real downside I can mention is that the room was a little worn looking, e.g. a new carpet would not go astray, the bathroom was a bit small but the water pressure in the shower was strong. Having said that the room otherwise was clean as was the bed which was more important to me than a new carpet etc.

This is a beautiful old building in need of a lot of restoration work which it is currently getting. Aye, there's the rub: construction workers woke us up at 7:00 am most mornings doing this work. We had no idea that this was going to be a thing until we checked in, yet even then the warning was work would commence at 8:00 am. LIES. The good thing is that when I complained they comped us free breakfast for every morning we were there. I was ok with that since we didn't go all the way to Germany to sleep anyway. But a few more winks would have been nice.

Only one bed trope other than that amazing hotel!

There was a little confusion at check-in as when booking i had booked a twin room and the room we were given was clearly a double with two single beds pushed together. You could only move the beds an inch apart at max and the room was a little dated looking compared to the photos online.

Apart from that the stay was wonderful, the staff were very helpful and we had a beautiful big bathroom with a bath and shower. The ceiling in the bedroom was high with gorgeous windows and the whole hotel was very clean and tidy. The location is also great with a bus stop and underground station only a couple of minutes walk away. Theres also shops and restaurants around so you're spoilt for choice.

Overall fantastic stay, would recommend!

My friend an I were looking forward to our stay at this hotel. Unfortunately our flights were cancelled due to a suspect bomb alert in our airport terminal. The entire terminal had to be evacuated for about 8 hours. We had to wait with about 2,000 passengers in the adjoining carpark for 4 hours. It was freezing cold. Our flight took off for Berlin without any passengers. The airline is refunding our flight costs, but this hotel manager refused to refund out hotel booking costs, about £800. Not very helpful. Even our travel agent could not persuade the manager to refund, even part of our bill. It wasn't our fault our flights had to be cancelled. Beware!

Great value, good base to explore Berlin

I have recently begun doing city breaks with the family, I am happy with a hotel that is clean, safe and well-priced as ultimately it is somewhere to sleep when you get back from a long day of exploring.

This hotel ticked all the boxes, the staff were friendly, the room was spacious and easily big enough for the 4 of us (family of 4 with 2 children aged 13 and 11). There was plenty of shops, bars and food outlets nearby and a bus stop right outside from where you could get a very frequent bus to Berlin Central station (number 245) in about 10 minutes.

The only negative I had was our last night was a Friday and we didn't realise the staff had put us directly above a pub/club until that night when the music went on until the early hours.

I recommend asking to avoid this part of the hotel at weekends. Otherwise, a very nice base for which to explore at amazing value.

Nice hotel with easy access to airport and City.

I appreciated that I was able to take a public bus from the airport directly to the hotel and arrived within 15-20 minutes. I was dropped off about a block from the hotel and I had no issues. The front desk staff was friendly and very helpful with all my questions. I appreciated my stay. The rooms are a little dated, but were very clean. It looks like they have done some renovations. I highly recommend if you are looking for a nice hotel in a good area at a reasonable price.

Hotel Tiergarten is a very nice older style hotel in Tiergarten, the front counter is manned 24/7 and breakfast is 13 Euro and excellent, selection of cereals, sausages, scrambled eggs, bacon, fruits breads etc. It’s easy to get to and the “U” is about 50 metres away. Staff are excellent and very helpful.

The staff was extremely helpful and spoke excellent English. Arthur went the extra mile for us and I will be forever grateful. The laundry service across the street was supposed to have my laundry done and I called to see if any had been delivered, it had not, so he went ahead and checked on it for me so I would not have to come back from the Eiffel Tower prior to the laundry closing. He enabled me to stay out and enjoy my trip with my wife. The only complaint I have is I felt the floors in the room needed some serious attention.

Hotel Tiergarten Berlin is well located and close to the main train station and bus and tram lines. It is in a beautiful historic building. Rooms are large and clean, but lobby and room furnishings seem a bit tired and dated. There is no air conditioning in the room, so we had to open a window overnight; since our room faced the street, it was a bit noisy. We did not eat at the breakfast buffet but it looked and smelled delicious.

I enjoyed a nice stay at the Tiergarten. The room was clean and the location was great. It is very easy to get to the hotel from Tegel airport. One surprise was that my booking didn't include breakfast so make sure that you are aware of what you are booking (when I went back to my booking, I do see that breakfast was noted as being extra). I didn't partake of the breakfast but it smelled good!!

The architecture and decor are the big draw.

The rooms are small and basically furnished. What's really neat about this hotel is the architecture and décor of the building, one of very few pre-war buildings in Berlin that was restored to its original 19th-century look. You get a glimpse of what this city once looked like. A good breakfast and being right by the U-Bahn are also nice.

With a nice atmosphere is well maintained by a friendly and helpful staff. Although the parking for my motorcycle was on the street it was a safe enough area. However, be aware of cyclists on the foothpath travelling at excessive speed, in case your knocked down. Next time Im in Berlin Ill definately see about staying here again.

Comfortable hotel quite centrally placed

My single room was clean and warm. The bed was comfortable. The staff attending at breakfast were lovely but some of the staff on reception could have been friendlier. I have two complaints: one, that the bottom staircase wasn't always lit which was hazardous in the dark and the second that there was very little, as a vegan that I could eat at breakfast - although I did get soya milk for my cereal and coffee when I asked. Also the wifi kept kicking me out

I was after a short break in Berlin off-season , and wanted a small central comfortable hotel that with relatively good reviews but without paying a great deal , this hotel seemed to fit the bill and I was not disappointed. When I first checked in the lady (Ines) was extremely helpful and all spoke good English , my room smelt a little of smoke from a poor previous guest and she immediately without quibble changed me - she also helped with transport guides and I managed to purchase a day ticket for the transport system from her. From Check in to check out the hotel lived up to expectations , the rooms décor is a little dated but everything was clean and the bed very comfortable , the bathroom well stocked and shower was excellent

The staff were incredibly helpful with directions, sight seeing strategies and transportation routes.
Breakfast was excellent quality and value. Older hotel with significant charm.

Average hotel. Good location. Friendly stuff. Very annoying wifi: continuously disconnecting and asking login and password each time.rooms are clean but are asking for some renovation
