The hotel itself is very stylish. The bar was nice and the service in the bar was exceptional. Top tip - the hot chocolate! However... we paid for an upgrade to a nicer room, got a great room on the 8th floor with river views. But... then EVERY morning from about 6am we had the thumping of the treadmill from the fitness suite on the floor above coming into the room. And I don't just mean a small noise. I'm talking water torture level sound. I'm talking about the kind of sound that resets your own heartbeat! When we told the team at reception they gave us the kind of meek apology that comes from a team who know exactly how bad it is but gave us the room anyway. I'm most annoyed we paid for the upgrade to get it, so definitely reject the upgrade when its offered to you! Our friends were in the 7th floor and it woke them up too. Whatever you do, dont take a room on the 7th or 8th floor.

Lovely hotel, lots of facilities and the room was clean and comfortable - the staff were super friendly and helped with several queries.
We stayed for the Berlin marathon and it was perfect location - close to the start, easy for the expo and the 5k mark is just at the bottom of the road.

It was our first time to Berlin. We liked this property's proximity to the Tiergarten, but had not realized prior to booking that it was not particularly close to more sightseeing areas. There were not a lot of restaurant options nearby. Hotel itself was lovely, right on the water. Housekeeping was not great about refilling coffee service daily, and air conditioning was a bit weak - but altogether, was a good stay.

My family of four stayed for three nights in a loft style room with a unique spiral staircase. We found the room to be clean, beds comfortable but the wifi
strength was very poor. Our room had a damp odour to it due to an underperforming HVAC system or carpet needing to be cleaned/changed.You could experience a day/night contrast in air quality between the hallway & our room. The lighting in our room could use improvement with pot lights or equivalent. My wife & I enjoyed sitting upstairs in the lobby where there’s complimentary water, plenty of natural lighting.

Extortionate hidden fees!

Please be careful when booking this hotel. After booking what initially appeared to be a reasonably priced hotel I was stung by hidden fees and was charged twice for a 12.5% city tax.

Despite numerous phone calls and emails the hotel are refusing to refund any of the fees.

I paid over €86 in additional taxes not shown at the time of booking. There is no transparency at booking and this is deceiving customers.

Don’t stay here unless you want to pay more than you bargained for!

Terrible hotel who don’t understand hospitality

I was given a smaller room despite booking a double room and paying a higher price for the larger room. When I inquired later the front desk staff said, we gave you a smaller room because you are a single traveller and larger rooms are for more people.
Front desk staff (two guys) were rude and unprofessional. The lady (I think Venessa) was good.
Even after complaining to the hotel about the issue later, no satisfactory resolution provided. My last email to the hotel on this subject is still unanswered after over a week.

The hotel is beautiful and in a picturesque location along the river. It is within walking distance to the S-train, bus and trams (all easy to use with the BVG app.
The lobby is huge with comfortable seating throughout. If you opt for breakfast ($25), there is a nicely appointed dining room with a buffet that has everything you can think of. Wait staff and cooks are excellent. But I opted out on my last day, since the price is a little steep and we were running, so enjoying the meal would have been hard.
There is a gym and sauna I didn’t use, but heard was nice. There is a restaurant attached, in the even you want to order room service or a bite or drink without going out. Prices are fair given the location, accommodation and selection.
The room I had was a single queen, which was comfortable and the room was beautiful with a view of the river. There is no real AC. It is more like a vent, but propping the window open gave plenty of breeze.
I recommend staying here. Great, safe location and excellent accommodations. Price is fair.

Exceptionally clean.
Expedia needs to do some updates on their advert for the property. It has been updated from the photos. Also, they do not have bathtubs as indicated. I searched and chose this hotel specifically for that reason and arrived to discover that Expedia info was no longer accurate. Nevertheless it was a wonderful stay.

Extra charge without any reason!!

The hotel charged me extra 122 Euros for no reason. They billed on my credit card one month after I stayed there. No receipt, no explanation! It is difficult to get a hold any hotel staff.

We stayed in a junior suite which had a very large bathroom and very large main room with a refrigerator. Breakfast was abundant with a great variety of food, choices, and drinks Everyone was very friendly and helpful and the hotel was close to a tram station. It’s a little bit further out from the city, but for the cost it was well worth it especially if you get the I Amsterdam card or use another form of payment for the tram since we use them daily The bed was very comfortable

They downgraded our room from a two floor suite to a closet and made us pay the same price. No manager available, no contact from the General Manager and no help at all in getting this resolved. They oversold the category and tried to tell me the suite was under renovation. The woman at the front desk was treating us like we were selfish to have booked the suite since we were two people. My husband snores and I did not sleep as a result. Thanks for nothing! Room was dusty, AC was not working, no vents in the bathroom, the water was so old it was crusty. I would never ever recommend this property. It's a shame - the location is excellent, and the hotel has a lot of potential.

This place leaves a lot to be desired. At first when you walk in, the lobby of the hotel looks modern. But upon entering our room we saw holes in the curtains. There is no AC here even though the hotel advertises it, it’s literally just circulating the same air. At night it feels like they turn down whatever air you are getting and the room gets unbearably hot. We were sweating every single night, our sheets were so wet. We don’t even normally sweat at night but this place was too much, had to sleep on top of the covers and got some of the worst sleep of our lives.. not exactly something you want on vacation when you’re on the go 24/7. On top of that they don’t provide a fridge. What 4 star establishment doesn’t have one? We couldn’t even cool down with cold drinks.. this place is def not 4 star as advertised.

AC did NOT WORK at all. We have complained endlessly to make it work. People used to walk in and make us hear the sound of AC (a mere machine) running but did not care whether it’s letting out cool air or not. We stayed there for 4 nights and they dis not offer or let us move to a new room. AC did not work on all days and every time they came to check the AC they brought a fan with them.
We were left with 3 fans in our room (adding pictures for reference) without AC and we paid a lot for this booking. Not sure how they call themselves a 4 star hotel.

Lovely area, only one stop away from central station. However, the air-conditioning barely worked, making it extremely hot at night when trying to sleep. I did ask about this and was told “yeah it’s a known issue”. Was a bit disappointed that at this price point their air-con isn’t up to standard.

Gym was nice but half of the dumbbells were missing.

I understand the decision not to have fridge’s in the room, but would rather have one in there.

The hotel is in a very central location with a 5 minute walk to Bellevue station. Very peaceful being on the river. Clean and chic neighbourhood.
My only quibbles- after coming from a similar hotel in Cologne, I would have expected a bar fridge and ITV and BBC on the TV (as the Euros were on)

Everything about our visit was great. One thing that doesn't get acknowledged in most reviews is the excellent location which is right on the Spree and within easy reach of both the underground and the S line train system. It's also within a stones throw of restaurants and the tiergarten park.

The hotel has air conditioning but it doesn't reach the 8th floor. They gave us two fans for each room and it was still too uncomfortable to get a good sleep. Everything else was wonderful and if it wasn't for the AC problem I'd highly recommend this hotel. The AC might be better on the lower floors because it was great in the bar and restaurant.

I felt at home at the Abion hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. The entrance is open and inviting; grab a drink and peruse their library. Lots of places to sit and visit or contemplate your next move. Didn’t eat there because we were on a budget, but wish we could have. Coffee in the rooms a big plus! Cleaning staff were respectful and thorough. The only criticism is the tub/shower didn’t provide enough handles for safety. One had to climb over the tub rim and use the shower; getting out I slipped over the side onto the floor - no handle to let myself down. No harm came of it, but in time someone will not be as lucky!

Stayed here for two nights after first arriving to Berlin. It was in a nice quiet yet easily accessible neighborhood with solid food and views. The staff were friendly. The family room I booked was quite roomy and clean though the building itself seemed a bit outdated. The breakfast was a bit pricey though pretty good for what you get. They offered a decent variety of breakfast meats, eggs, breads, cold cuts, etc. The hotel was conveniently located near several restaurants. Overall a decent place to stay.

The property could easily be 5*. I image that it is just missing some facility required for this rating. There is a U line tube station 5 mins away with easy access to wherever you want to go. There is also an S line equidistant in the other direction. The only negative is that the bar / restaurant staff are not too friendly, but I guess that they are not directly linked to the hotel and operate as a separate entity. The hotel staff are very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend.

As pretty as this hotel was, do not stay here in the summer! A/C is non-existent, despite being advertised as having A/C. We ended our stay a night early to book in to another hotel it was so bad.
Daytime staff were amicable, but nighttime staff were atrociously rude. When I went down one evening during our stay to ask for a new room with better a/c (spoiler alert - they're all the same) I was told they were completely booked up (on a Tuesday in off season) and I should open a window.
Our room had a very pretty view of the Spree, but was definitely dated and the pillows felt like we were sleeping on mashed potatoes.

I really enjoyed my stay here - it was only one night of my trip and I wished I had booked it for longer. I had a river view room, and it was probably one of my favorite hotel rooms and views I have ever had. The hotel staff was very helpful (and spoke excellent English as my German is lacking). The bed was comfortable, curtains blocked light well, and it was very quiet. My only confusion was that the master switch for the electricity was a big red switch on the wall that I was afraid might be an alarm of some sort (it was not). Great location, and a lovely river walk right along the river steps from the hotel. I also did eat breakfast here, and although a bit pricey it was a great buffet with tons of options to choose from, and you could eat outside as well. I would definitely stay here again if I find myself back in Berlin.

A Conundrum of a Hotel

We were super-mixed on this hotel. It's (I guess) a 4-start hotel, and maybe if we had used all the amenities to their full effect it might have been better. The room (a 2-level maisonette) was spacious (great for 2 adults traveling with a teen), and we did use the sauna. It was in a very convenient location.

However, our room left a lot to be desired. There was a lot of wear and tear (from simple issues such as there were only 3 hangers total) to gouges and such in the walls). Rather than having a queen and king (2 pushed-together twins) bed as described, it was a double and a king. Despite a 100-euro \"extra person\" added fee that we had not seen in the small print when we booked (our tween in a room that slept 4), there were only pillows, coffee cups and pods, etc. for 2, and asking for more was kind of a hassle. Other items (like lotion, water, etc.) were not refreshed during our stay.

All in all, this hotel has the potential to be great, but it is not living up to it.
