Good stay overall

Good location very close to Metro and very close to Din Tai Fung dumpling restaurant. Decent sized room however for a long stay recommend booking a room with a window. Free laundry was great, the staff were nice and the hotel had a chilled out feeling to it.

The room was new, nice, and clean, even though it is a bit small and there is no view. The window was facing an air gap between another building, so it is nice and quiet. There is a washing machine and a dryer on the 5th floor with detergent for you to use. The location is also very convenient, just 3 minute walk from Dongmen MRT station.

Fabulous small hotel in a great location between Daan Park and Dongmen stations and close to Daan Park itself. Very friendly and helpful staff. The most comfortable bed ever. Clean and tidy. Some damp on one wall but nothing drastic. Large shower with plenty of hot water. Not a massive drying area in the shower room though. Air con worked well.

The hotel location is great. Some of the staff could hardly speak English, so their service was difficult. The reception was left unattended sometimes.

We did a last minute booking to ARK hotel and counter staff is helpful as this is the last room for saturday and sunday. They helped us to retain the room and we are very gladful for their gesture.
Overall, the room though small but it's everything you needed it's there. Coffee and snacks available at counter, location is great fo shopping and eating. Within 5 min distacnce from Dongmeng station. We are happy with our stay and services rendered by counter staffs in ARK hotel.

Location was very convenient. Comfortable bed and good hot shower with enough pressure. Bathroom could have been cleaner. Found hairs from the former guest and a dirty bathroom door. I cleaned it with a towel. My room was next to a building with metal roofing, which made an awful noice when it rained, keeping me awake at night. And the airconditioning was very cold. Even when i turned it off, the room remained very cold. Staff was friendly.

Clean and safe place to stay. Unfortunately the top level floor( 5th floor where largest rooms are need a climbing stairs since elevator would get to 4th floor), it was fine with us but for people needs accommodations would be an issue.

Wifi was not reliable and at time stopped to reach to the servers, an updated system might help.

The hotel has free washer/driver which is a plus. But dryer does not dry well. I wonder if this is the regular specs in Asian countries? The efficiency of dryers is no where closer to the regular family grade dryers in USA but for people in shorter stay this may not be a deal breaker either.

The property location was very convenient, close to Da’an park and Yong Kang Street. The walls between rooms are very thin, you can hear the neighbours’ conversations. My neighbour would wake up everyday at 4am and talk so loudly. Yet she banged on the wall to complain at 5pm that my baby was crying one afternoon. The rooms are very small and the blanket inside the cover was stained. The front desk staff were very helpful in providing guidance about the area and arranging the airport shuttle service for us. There is free laundry but the dryer takes very long for the clothes to dry. Overall the hotel is convenient if you travel in small groups of 2 but I would not recommend for families. The staff were very kind to make the best of what they can offer.

The property was quiet and clean and located right near the Dongmen subway stop. It's close to the Yongkang St so the nearby shaved ice and other food venues were great! (plus 7-11 is nearby)
They had free laundry too, which was unexpected and nice!
Plus they had snacks out in the lobby from 1p-6p so we could try some Taiwanese snacks.
There is a scale in the lobby to weigh one's bag before heading to the airport.
There is a water dispenser in the lobby too...and a tea kettle in the room.
Check in is 2pm, I believe.
Note that the pillows and bedding are down, so if you have an allergy, ask for accommodations before you head up to your room.
I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it.

It's incredibly clean and well-maintained. The staff is friendly, and even had some free snacks and drinks for Christmas and New Years. The bed is comfortable, the A/C works well, nice waterfall style shower. However, the absolute best thing is the area. You can walk down Yong Kang Street for all sorts of great shops and cafes, or if you want to explore Taipei, you're about a 4 minute walk from Dongmen MRT station, which connects to both the orange and red lines. My only warning is that the room is very small. Even finding a place for the suitcase was difficult. But, as long as you know that going in, it's great. I'd stay here again.

The location of this property was fantastic but that's the only good point about this place. The first room I checked into was dirty and dank. I spoke to Tina, who was manning the front desk that night, and she kindly moved me into a new, upgraded room, which was way better. But I have to say - the photos aren't a good representation of the property. It's dated. When I went downstairs the next day, a man was at the front desk and he was completely useless. I asked him a few questions and he couldn't answer any of them, saying he didn't live in the area and therefore had no knowledge of the area. He couldn't even point me to the nearest pharmacy. He had a terrible attitude. And that really soured my experience with the property. i really liked the location though - it's right beside Ding Tai Fung, and there is so much to eat around here. Transport is convenient and it's a safe area. Too bad the staff were not helpful.

It's very close to the heart of the Yongkang Street area. Thus, it's extremely convenient for dining, shopping and transportation. The price is great for such a location.
However, the facility is really old, and the 5th floor does not have elevator access, thus not good if you have a heavy luggage. When our next-door room's AC unit was broken, technicians had to pass through our room to install a new unit during our state (the staff did ask us for permission). The cleaning equipment was scattered among the stairs, as they did not have designated room for it (hence not recommending to use stairs).

I stayed four nights at another hotel in Taipei and regretted that I did not stay those nights at ARK Dongmen too. The ARK was nearly perfect. The staff was wonderful. The free breakfast was from local restaurants and different every day (even sushi one morning). The bed and shower were fantastic. But the best thing is the hotel location! A very short walk to a Red Line MRT station, Yong Kang Street, and Da'an Park. A really great neighborhood with everything you might need nearby.

The location is good, but the wifi on all floors was intermittent, my two smart phones and laptop were offline most of the time. When I checked at the front desk to have it fixed, they were clueless and had no one skillful to fix the problem. The soundproofing is very poor, with televisions mounted against the wall that abuts the next room, causing you to hear others, and others to complain about you. I then found out that they had shared my personal information with someone not associated with the hotel, which caused a very serious problem for me. Very unprofessional.

Super clean. Super staff. Super location. Rooms are not huge but they are nice. Lovely beds with very smooth high quality linens. Staff are 10/10.

The only downside is that it is not a hotel that you can hang out in if you don't feel like going out. There is not really a lobby in the sense of it. There is a couch and books and such but it isn't somewhere to get cozy. But that is not what the place is designed for so it is a comment on what to expect rather than a critique.

It is a super base of operations with a superb location.

The only thing that made the stay not as pleasant was due to the construction they were having on each floor. It would have been nice and smarter for them to do their carpet construction earlier instead of during their busiest season. Overall the room condition was fine and the cleaning staff were very nice.

A neat little place at a great location~

We went for a mini-date night. The hotel is quite cozy with a small but functional lobby area. The hotel room itself was small but sufficient. The see-through bathroom was an interesting touch. We could sometimes hear people outside talking but overall it was quiet. The morning breakfast was included, it was outsourced but tasty and seems to come from a nearby coffee shop. Can't beat the location and price was reasonable! Overall, we had ourselves a great time!

The hotel was centrally located and directly across from Ding Tai Fung. I had a room with a window but the window did not really open and was blocked by an air conditioner. If you have the choice between a room with window (but no view) or a room with no window, pick the room with no window for a cheaper price. The wifi in the hotel room (I was on the first floor) was almost non existent. It was weak and inconsistent. Apart from the wifi, the room was clean and my room was quiet. The staff was helpful and it is nice to have a 24 hour front desk.

The hotel room is small, but it was compensated by its awesome location and friendly staff. Most importantly, it's always in clean state.

There is no cafe or restaurant in the hotel itself, the daily breakfast is packed and guests have to collect the packed breakfast from the Recep and have it in their own room.

Super cute hotel with AMAZING crackers!

Super cute hotel, good self-laundry service, communal fridge, super kind front desk staff, be warned that many rooms dont have windows (which was perfect for us - we wanted quiet and dark), walls were reasonably sound proof, AMAZING crackers. We loved the crackers so much, we kept asking the front desk where to get these - they gave us extra but were elusive as to where we find them. We took a picture of those crackers and went to about 10 grocery stores. We finally found it at a nuts/spices/dried goods night market in Datong (Anxi st and Guisui st).

Excellent hotel in Dongmen for Taipei Tourists

Best hotel we stayed in during our Taiwan (Taipei, Tainan, Kaoshiung) this visit. We split our stay at ARK Hotel into two separate stays.

The hotel staff were kind enough to allow us to deposit most of our luggage as we wanted to travel light when visiting the areas outside of Taipei. The staff took the initiative to store some of our more valuable piece of baggage behind their counter, where they could have more security over. The staff were more than willing to recommend places to visit/eat and offered a customer-centric experience.

The rooms are very neat and clean and it seems like the room layout was well thought, giving sufficient space for visitors to place their luggage, hang their clothes/coats and rest on the bed. The hotel has Washing Machine (with detergent) and Dryer amenities on the top floor for tourists that want to wash their clothes.

There was lots to do around the Dongmen vicinity and the hotel was very conveniently located two streets away from the subway entrance. Would highly recommend this place and come back again should we visit Taipei.

It was conveniently located to Yong Kang Street with many good food nearby. Breakfast with mos burger coupon can be improved. room was small but sufficient for 2 persons with a budget. Bed was comfortable. Hotel come with washer machine on the 5th floor ( shared with other hotel guest). Abit noisy as the shop nearby was having renovation but for the price, it was value for money.

Just two subway stops away in Ximending, hotels with the same level of quality and the same amenities are available for one-third of the price of this hotel. The advantage of this hotel is its location across from the Daan Forest Park, a green oasis in Taipei. But, the hotel is a disappointment. At this price, one would expect more than just small simple rooms in a renovated office building.

Great place to stay

The room is clean and looks exactly in the photo. I love the bed as it is super comfortable. Overall, it is a great place to stay! The hotel is also near the first ding tai fung (if you're a fan of it and wish to beat the queue, you definitely have to stay here.) There is also a food street just opposite the hotel, you do not have to worry about going hungry. Will definitely come back to stay here again.

It's okay....

There is no room left and our room was on the g/f besides the lift even we already told them hopefully can on the 3/F or 4/F two months ago-_-
But after stayed for 1 night, i think g/f is ok.. Not noisy than i thought.
The biggest problem is the air-con. I cant sleep very well and keep sweating over night.
It was so hot.

The adventage of ark must be the friendly staff and closed to the train exit.

Fantastic location; comfortable bed; good shower; free and strong internet. Rooms are small for Taiwan, but I'm from Hong Kong, so they seemed relatively large by that standard. The people are nice. The place was clean, although not spotless. Only problem was the air conditioner was pointed so that cold air shot directly on the head of the bed. That's very un-Chinese. They should realign the beds to eliminate that issue in the affected rooms. I'd stay there again, but would move my bed or have it moved if necessary.

The hotel is nested in the pleasant middle-class residential area, with many renown restaurants and family-owned eating outlets, e.g. Ding Tai Fung, Kao Chi (Cantonese Dim Sum and dishes) & Yongkang Street Beef Noodles (NT $200 per bowl, with generous serving of noodles and chunky tender beef cubes) & Yongkang Chi Rou Geng (lean pork in thick soup garnished with coriander and pepper NT$45 per bowl and NT$55 with noodles or vermicelli). We bought seasonal fruit (Kyoto grapes) from Dongmen market which is 10-15 minutes walk from the hotel. Though the stalls are along the alley, they are clean and do not have any unpleasant smells that we are all familiar with back home.

Generally, it was a wonderful holiday except the trip to Shilin Market where we were charged NT$500 for fresh cut fruit. Our suggestion is that avoid buying fresh cut fruit from the hawkers but the Haodao chicken chop is still worth trying(NT$60 per piece).

Near MRT(Dongmen)

Good value! Modern, new & clean room. MOS Burger breakfast coupon. Big sofa with a giant teddy bear at lobby, where u can have free coffee/tea/water. Ubike station outside. Across the road from ding tai fung(soup dumpling) and near other famous restaurants. Will stay here again.

Next to a world of fine food

Situated at the front of Yangkiang street, you have access to almost 24 hours of eatery.
The Dongmun station of the Metro is only 3 min away.
The Hotel resembles boutique hotels in Tokyo, comfy and tidy, with friendly staff.

Convenient Location with Undertrained Staff

It's located between two metro stations (both a bit of a schlep when traveling with luggage) and a block from a famed (overrated) restaurant and eatery street. The room (I paid a bit more for one with a big window) is moderate in size, although the bathroom door opens inward, making it awkward to get in and out without having to go around the toilet). Nice shower, though, and comfy bed. The walls are thin and the windows don't block out noises from the busy Shinyi Street, so bring your earplugs. The biggest problem is that their staff need serious training. After checking in, I went in and out of the hotel over a half a dozen times. They greeted me not even once; in fact, I smiled at them every time but received no reciprocation, from all three people at the front desk in three days. Stopping what they were doing and greeting you every time you came and went was a bit of an overkill at CityInn, where I stayed a week prior, but a simple hello at Ark shouldn't be too much to ask.

It's new but small :(

Ark hotel is new and clean, convenient location. I like their comfortable bed, branded mattress. But the room is so small, and the washroom is very tiny too. Not recommend for big buddy, or travel with kid.

Also please be reminded they have no-window rooms, check for your need.

Nice hotel close to metro station

very convenient location, only 2 mins away from metro station and 3 mins away from Yungkang Street where the street has plenty of restaurants. We had a pleasant stay at the hotel.

Nice boutique hotel with superb shower

Nice boutique hotel. Pretty new and near to the main din tai fung restaurant branch. The room was a little small but very clean and new. The rain shower was fantastic! Breakfast vouchers were provided at MOS burger.

Just one minute away from the great local food hub

It is just a short walk to Yong Kang Street, where famous local restaurants are located, providing convenience to delicious authentic food lovers like us. Besides, the staff are friendly and nice. The best of all is the free freshly brewed coffee machine in the reception area. This is truly lovely for a coffee addict like me.

Friendly Service!

The staff is very friendly and can give some recommendations on places to go. Rooms and hotel has a very clean look and feel and they change the amenities daily. Only issue is the walls are a little thin and if you have noisy neighbours, it could be annoying.

convenient and comfortable

Was looking for a comfortable and economic option for a short stay in Taipei. ARK was clean, well maintained and quiet. Services are limited but generously given and tastefully displayed, e.g. tours-for-hire, coffee maker in the lobby, etc. The room was small but very comfortable and beautifully designed. Never felt claustrophobic. If you know Taipei, the location is right in front of the Da'an park, near Yongkang St. and within walking distance from Chiang Kai-shek memorial, NTNU, etc. The subway to everywhere else is just steps away. This is a perfect choice for people who want a simple, small boutique hotel with solid service...just my preference.
