Great size of room. Very comfortable bed. Very close to the station.
The luggage storage is an unlocked room open to the street, not secured by camera which is not ideal.

Staff mostly seemed miserable. The room was tiny and cramped. The room was clean but the toilet seat and lid were stained and dirty.
The bathroom was so small I had to sit on the toilet which was half under the sink.

My stay at the boutique hotel was very good. It was only three minutes from the train station, which was exactly what I was looking for. The location was beautiful, right next to a stunning Gothic cathedral, and the hotel itself was easy to find. Once inside, the staff was very professional and welcoming. They directed us to the elevator (lift) to reach the fifth floor; however, the elevator only went up to the fourth floor, so we had to climb one additional flight of stairs. The room itself was very nice, and overall I had a great experience. I would definitely stay there again for a few more nights if needed.

We stayed in the family room and it was very spacious and comfortable. No lifts so carrying 3 large suitcases on 9 flights of stairs was a challenge. The cathedral was a very short walk away and there were other lovely churches close by. Very close to the train station too.

The room was in a pretty dilapidated state. The bathroom door had a significant hole in it, the hot water boiler wasn't functioning right, the hair dryer was broken, walls scuffed up, windows dirty, and the staircase very dirty.

\"Boutique\"? Only if Boutique means disorganised, disconnected and higgledy-piggledy. From the long, dark corridor you enter before you reach reception, to the elevator that exits onto a landing with stairs up or down, to the maze you travel to find your room, this place is chaos. I could barely get in the bathroom because the door hinged the wrong way! How it is even allowed to operate with an elevator that exits BETWEEN floors is beyond me? This place is only a thing because of its excellent location

The room was clean and simple. We did not realize however that some rooms are not part of the main hotel and you need to exit the hotel and go to a different building to access your room. You will also have to walk up a couple flights of stairs depending on your room location. The room has no phone to contact the front desk if needed.

It was extremely warm in the room which forced us to keep the windows open. The lighting in the room is terrible and it was extremely noisy due to outside noise. Our room was above a restaurant and store and across from a bar. Keep that in mind if you don’t want to stay somewhere noisy.

The front desk staff were pleasant. I would say for the price the location is good but this is definitely a no frills hotel.

Friendly staff at check in. No elevator and we had to climb 5 flights of stairs with 7 large suitcases and 2 senior adults. Heaters didn’t work. Most outlets didn’t work. Hot water didn’t work in one shower.

Positives first: fantastic location and of course a good price.

Negatives: the online check-in is all a bit pointless when you end up having to go through the whole process anyway on arrival. I’ll give the benefit of the doubt that there was a better breakfast selection in the earlier hours, but you’ll be disappointed if you get up late. Don’t expect the room to look like the photos.

Just a guide, if you are a light sleeper and want to sleep beyond 8:40 then the church bells will wake you up on Saturday & Sunday.

The hotel is close to the Dom. That is the only good thing. It is run down, dirty, smelled of smoke and the noise from the street was unbelievably loud. It was like spending the night in a night club with music blasting, people talking and pounding on doors. Although the breakfast was good, the woman who worked in the breakfast room was rude. Also, there was no stopper for the bath. When we asked for one, we were simply told there isn't one. I would never stay there again.

There is NO AC, it was very very very hot in the room, we could not sleep at all - and it was only mild temperatures outside. No fridge, no fan, no closet. The toilet water was leaking. The cleaning lady was amazing; however the reception staff (especially the older lady) was very unfriendly, rude and had an attitude. She made me feel like I am bothering her by asking a question. I will absolutely not stay there ever again.

Constant smell of smoke, no service

Room was clean, but the constant cigarette smoke emanating from outside and the lack of response from the company. I checked out a day early, they had no internet so the front desk lady assured me I would be refunded for my last night, but due to their internet being out when I checked out I was hoping they would follow through. It’s been 11 days and I’ve attempted 2 contacts and nothing. Not even a response. The location is great, literally 2 min from the cathedral. Food close was good.

Go elsewhere. The only positive thing was location but there are other choices just as close or a few min further on.
When we arrived there was no one at the desk for at least 10 minutes. When someone did arrive they were dismissive and unpleasant. Luggage store was a self serve open to the front door and given the lack of front desk staff, of questionable security.

The room was shabby and bed didn't have a mattress cover. In such a high traffic area it would be a good idea.

The smell was overwhelming, I know that old cities often suffer a bit of a sulfuric smell from drains but this was really bad.

We had only one hand towel and no others. I went to the front desk and asked if when we got back from dinner I could get some. They assured me they'd be there and took our room number. Upon returning there were no towels and the front desk staff had only used ones to offer (ew) .

Door lock was loose and the bathroom door handle nearly completely broken off.

All in all this was my worst hotel stay just about anywhere in the world.

Hotel is in an excellent location but the place stinks of smoke and we did not have 1 drop of hot water for our entire 24hr stay in the hotel. This made things very uncomfortable as it was freezing outside and we’d been traveling all day, so to not be able to shower was unacceptable. I tried speaking to the hotel clerk about it and basically just got blown off. Would not stay here again even if it’s cheap and location is great.

Hotel is located near the train station (5mins walk), near the Xmas market (5mins walk), restaurants (3-5 mins walk)& river for other Xmas markets (20 mins walk) and close to high street ( check opening hours for Sundays). Hotel was clean and comfortable, it would have been better rating by me if the lift and heating was working . 5 flights of stairs to climb ! Extra duvet requested and heater was already in the room.

It was okay. The beds were very clean. However, the door lock was extremely difficult to open, the TV in the main room was missing, the TV in the loft bedroom was broken, and our plug-in heater was missing a wheel so couldn’t stay upright. I would not have stayed if we were staying more than one night.

It was clean and a good location is was ideal as a base for us we only use the room to freshen up and sleep.
Walking distance from the train station and shops.
On check in the receptionist didn’t give a warm welcome didn’t really communicate but would happy stay here again for location and convenience. Good value for money.

Let me just say, you get what you pay for. Location was the only positive experience we had. Room was tiny, not well ventilated, and was infested with black mold in the bathroom. Canadian credit cards also do not work at this location, which speaks to their lack of cybersecurity. Pillows were not pillows, just basically tiny duvets in a pillow case, luckily I was so hot through the night I used my blanket to supplement my lack of pillow. Will never be back and want to warn others to listen to the negative reviews (I didn’t and I regretted it). You are better off staying at a reputable hotel in the area with proper ventilation. It should also be noted for single female travellers, that the windows have no screen, so if you dare to open them at night there is no protection if someone would climb the very accessible fire escape located outside your window. All and all, I had to get another hotel because it was a sauna. Complete waste of money in my opinion. You’re better off staying at a hostel.

Male at check in, extremely rude, place smellls like sewage. Seems like they are under renovation quickly for euro 2024. Broken washroom door handle, broken toilet button, broken washroom sink, leaking shower head. Place feels super unsafe, up all night because constantly sounds like breaking in. Super inconvenient door keys, almost didn’t get into stadium for euro 2024 match due to the large metal bar for key chain.

DO NOT STAY HERE!.
We picked hotel based on location and photos of room. It was expensive (as it was during Euro 2024), but suited our needs. NOPE!!!
Front staff was just OK
Our Room was in a separate building with a very tricky lock to get into entrance way; smelly, dank hallway. No security in this portion of hotel. A large laundry cart full of linens was at the entrance door the entire time we were there.
Room was as pictured, but we had a view of the courtyard which consisted of industrial equipment/fans etc, Even our room & entrance keys were given to us on a twisted key ring which was not suitable to keep in a pocket, so we used our own key ring.

Also, we had a loud knock on our door at 3:45am. We shouted back the person had the wrong room. It took him a while to figure out where he needed to be, and he was anything but quiet during this time!!! We then noticed that there was no phone in the room and no way for us to contact the Front Desk. We did not feel safe at all. Thank goodness we were leaving the next morning.

I don't understand the positive reviews. Perhaps the main building is better maintained. Perhaps those rooms are given to guests who book directly. I don't know. But I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Great downtown Köln Hotel

The check in was easy. This hotel is close to the Köln Dome and the Bahnhof.
The room was clean and small. My ding on the stay was that the bathroom sink’s faucet was completely loose from the basin and the only thing holding it in place was the water connections. The water tap worked but the faucet moved around based on the force of the water flowing through it.
I spoke to the front desk attendant who said they would call maintenance. Otherwise the stay was great. Parked at the Hilton underground lot as suggested by the front desk. No street parking available.

First time in Cologne!

Originally booked a quadruple room but was faced with a trek up 4 flights of stairs with no lift. Door wouldnt open either. Ended up back in reception and was given alternative rooms due to us having disabilities. Staff were super helpful and very kind, lovely people to talk to. We really enjoyed our stay. Beds could do with being revamped, none of the mattresses in either room were comfortable at all. Rooms clean and warm. Glorious church bells ringing to wake up to, no road noise! Had a lovely conversation with the Night Manager about rock bands- keep rocking Sir! Great location lots to see and do. Cologne you have my heart!

I really liked that it was right on the center of cologne and super close to the main attractions of the city like the beautiful cathedral. There are many places to eat around and the central station is literally one block away. It was affordable and clean. The one thing I didnt like was that they gave us one room that was on the first floor with no view and we could not turn the tv on. We asked for help to one of the staff members at the front desk but she just kept saying \"i dont know\" like she didnt care. The other front desk members were nice though.

The staff was very unfriendly and not welcoming, gave no information on the lobby breakfast etc. The hotel itself smelled like cigarette smoke, although the room was fine. Asvertised as a double bed, but was 2 singles pushed together. The shower was a disaster, old and dirty, not to mention the shower head kept falling off the holder. The hair dryer could just as well be nonexistent. Location is probably the best part of the stay - you wouldnt want to spend much time in your room or the lobby (if it exists) anyway. We arent fancy travelers, but for what we paid to stay here, there is definitely room for improvement. I also dont usually leave reviews but thought this particular place could use the feedback. Specifically the lack of hospitality from the front desk - first impressions mean everything.

It was one of the worst place I have stayed. The second building where they gav ethe room was just horrible. Dirty, dingy, no proper lighting, door would not close, very rude lady in the morning shift. I pais $100/day. Learned my lesson. The inly good thing is the location, since it's close to Railway statioin. Not worth more than $40.

The location is perfect. Just a few steps from the train station and the cathedral.
The room itself was spacious and had the essentials for a short stay.
It is a bit strange to get out of the building to the street and enter another to get to the room (quadruple), and it's hard to climb 5 stories with no elevator with luggage, but for us the view to the San Andreas church and sound of bells made up for it.
The keys didn't quite work, they need to change the system.
There's a room to store your luggage in case you need it.

Location, location, location... but at what cost?

Staying at the Boutique 003 next to the main station was a lesson in bittersweet convenience. Sure, you can't beat the train connection, but strap in for a bumpy ride into your room.

Stairway to (unsatisfying) heaven: Forget elevators, my calves got a serious workout lugging luggage up four flights of creaky stairs. And the reward at the top? A door that looked like it hadn't been painted since the Berlin Wall fell.
The \"bathroom\" was more like a Tetris puzzle of fixtures crammed into a shoebox.
The only saving grace was the proximity to the station.
Who should stay here? Desperate souls caught in a travel snafu, backpackers with masochistic tendencies, or maybe ghosts who appreciate a vintage vibe (and don't need mirrors or hot water).

Recommendation: Pack some hand sanitizer, earplugs, and an Olympic-level stair-climbing champion as your travel companion. Otherwise, keep scrolling for hotels that don't require spelunking skills to reach your room.
Rating: 2 out of 5 train stars (and even that feels generous)

Nice room but the floor was covered in water

The room was actually fantastic - spacious, remarkably quiet given the central location, beds were super comfortable. Breakfast was great as well and the location unbeatable. However, the radiator in the room was leaking and we noticed right away when we checked in that the floor was all wet. Water was actually squeezing up between the floorboards when we walked on it. Luckily we were only there for one night, because the staff did nothing to remedy the situation besides give us a few extra towels to put on the floor. More than a night would have been unlivable. In the morning, we mentioned the issue to the front desk again and it was apparently news to them, so the night staff we first reported it to didn’t pass on the message, it seems. The morning staff was gruff and offered zero recompense. It was surprising how unconcerned the staff seemed to be with a major maintenance issue and with guests forced to stay in a room with the floor continuously covered in water.

The room was clean and located close to the Dom and train station. We were able to store our bags safely in the luggage storage on arrival. There was an issue with our room which was sorted at check-in. I've rated staff service low because when we first arrived at 12.30pm a woman really rudely barked at us that check in was at 2pm before we'd even had a chance to speak. We'd literally only just walked in the door after a long journey. This was a really bad first impression for me. We didn't expect to be able to check in early, however, I do expect to be spoken to politely when I've paid for a service. Not impressed and I wouldn't stay here again.

One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at in my life. The bathroom smelled strongly of mold and there was never at any point any hot water. There was also no refrigerator and the small security safe did not work.

More seriously, though, there were security issues in the hotel that left us feeling unsafe. First of all, when we returned to the hotel after a few hours out, around 10:30 PM the door was unlocked, but there was no one at the front desk. After waiting for several minutes, we finally simply took the key to our room, which was reachable from the patron’s side of the desk.

Between 1:30 and 2:30 AM, there was a group of men, apparently drunk, making a ruckus in the hallway: banging on the walls, yelling, tossing around the laundry carts, and turning on the vacuum cleaner (both the laundry carts and the vacuum cleaner were permanently stationed in the halls). Finally they retired to their room, which was right next door to ours, where the disruption continued for some time. Given the security issues that we had already observed at the desk, this made for a very nerve-wracking experience.

I will say that the floors were clean and the mattress itself was firm. Given the other issues, however, as well as the excessive price, I doubt that we will be staying there again.

Spacious clean room with comfy bed. Good breakfast options and waiting area. Good locations for trains and city centre.
Noisy if overlooking busy street and the people hanging around outside at all hours. A glass in the room for water would have been nice

Wonderful location, great view, lots of stairs!

We were in room 442 and as other people have mentioned there are a lot of stairs to climb with your luggage if your room is in the separate building. Not very fun if you have someone elderly or disabled with you. Also the lock was very hard to open and was a pain and waste of time to deal with when you just want to check into your room. Hopefully management will read this and realize it needs to be fixed. Despite those setbacks the room was very nice with a beautiful view and was spacious. The check in staff were ok and the breakfast was good, although when you still have an hour of breakfast left, you should refill the egg and sausage station, some people didn’t get any.

Don’t stay here for your own sanity.

Excellent location and nice breakfast. That’s about all that was nice about this place. The hotel worker gave us an incorrect address for parking, so we had to figure that out. He was slow to register us. Gave us some bizarre room that was actually not even in the same building as the rest of the hotel. We had carry all of our bags up 5 flights of narrow, winding stairs, only to get to the top and the key to the room didn’t work. Had to walk back to get the worker and have him walk back up there and say no it dissent work. Then had to take all of the bags back down and around to the lobby only to get two separate rooms for our family and then carry more bags up flights of stairs. The elevator is a joke literally and the worker has no clue what he is doing.

This place was not as advertised. Our room was in a separate building that did not have an elevator. It was up four flights of stairs, smelled like cigarette smoke, and the staff was rude. After hauling all of our luggage to the room we could not get the door to open. The staff made a huge deal about having to show us the very special way to open the lock.

The luggage storage is in an unlocked, unmonitored closet.

Very good deal

I loved my stay! It's a good deal for the price. The hallways of the hotel are a bit shabby, but the rooms are newly renovated and very comfy. The breakfast is included in the price and very good. When I arrived, the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. And, most importantly to me, it's just a 2-min walk from the grand central train station. The shopping mile and old city are all in walking distance.

Basic budget room but good breakfast

Room was so small the double bed was pushed up against the wall. The mattress was comfortable but the pillows were lumpy and awful. The bathroom smelled mouldy and the sink and shower backed up with water, but the shower water pressure and temperature was good. Having said all that, the room was quite cheap so you get what you pay for. The breakfast was very good considering it was included in the price.

Good location and nice breakfast. The room itself isn't terrible but the bathroom is pretty small- note if you are larger you might have difficulties sitting on the toilet as the room from the shower to the wall is very limited. The hallways and elevators were a little sketchy and you could hear everything from neighboring rooms. The staff at reception were also very unfriendly. Good value for Karneval but probably wouldn't stay if there were other options in the price range.
