We stayed here one night for a layover in Zurich before moving further east. We drove from Zurich airport and found the hotel very easily with plenty of parking around the back. The hotel is basic, but exactly what I would expect from a 3-star. There was no air conditioning but our room did have a fan which was fine. Our room faced onto the square, but had two sets of windows so blocked out all noise which was nice. Plenty of eating options around, and not far from the city centre by car. There was also a tram/bus stop right outside, but we didn't use it.

Good location and value for money for an expensive city. Only 5 mins away from city centre by train. Breakfast is good and good value for Switzerland, other food offered later for lunch and dinner is overpriced and staff wasn't too friendly at the restaurant the night qe had dinner

This was a great place to stay with a toddler. Our room was clean and the staff was very accommodating. It was a short 10 minute walk to the subway/bus station. The breakfast was sufficient ( eggs, cold cuts, croissants, bread and cereal). We really loved the lattes and the staff. Would stay here again.

Walking into the bathroom has a slight step up, which is enough to cause a fall, but not clearly marked. This is an accident waiting to happen. I reported this to the front desk and was told that it was common.

We had a problem with our room.smelling and it got worse. The staff asked us to run all the water in the bathroom (which was yellow) and that stopped the smell. They said our room hadn't been occupied in awhile. All good after that.

Horrible hotel. Low ceilings on the third floor and the two windows in the room were 6 inches by 6 inches (felt like prison rooms). No air flow since they don’t have air condition. The room was very hot and couldn’t sleep the whole night. The area was not the best and full of low income housing/individuals who were noisy at night. First time in Zurich and learned my lesson, wasted time and money. Did not enjoy it at all.

Stay away. Not worth the money. Rooms have tiny windows and no air condition
Stay away and you can get cheaper rooms with a/c and bigger windows u can open and help you cool off
I end up going and booking another room and lost my money for two nights

I was only there for a night - room was very clean. However, it was uncomfortably warm - I ended up leaving the window fully open all night. Also, the wi-fi doesn't reach the third floor, which was inconvenient. Breakfast was lovely - very nice having the option to sit outside. Tram stop right outside. All staff were helpful.

The room was super small. We felt like were we tripping over each other and our luggage. The bathroom smelt mouldy. And the worst was the church bells!!!!! Every hour! Sometimes for 15 minutes straight! Just horrible. Had we known that we would have never stayed there. They should give their guest a heads up. It was loud and annoying. We couldn’t sleep before midnight or last 6 am cause the bells would start at 6am and end at midnight. Ridiculous

This hotel is not in Zurich city center but don't be mistaken. It's an excellent hotel with a great location. Less than a minute to the tram station which takes you to the city center. The rooms are spacious and clean with great amenities.

Good Value - a little far from City Center.

Very clean, modern hotel in the northwestern part of Zurich city. Located in a nice shopping plaza & close to a café, grocery stores, post office and church bells (which remained quiet through the night). Rooms were European small - small difficulties maneuvering with a 6'6\" husband. Beds were super soft which didn't suit us but the room was immaculate. We had a car so getting around Zurich was no problem for us.

Receptionists were welcoming and friendly, especially the lady wearing the scarf and the Asian looking young girl. However, I paid for a Queen bed and we slept clearly in a small double. Slightly disappointing plus the room has no air conditioning and the windows do not open fully. What’s also not mentioned is that there is a church at the back which chimes every 15mins, even through the night: If you’re a light sleeper then this is not the hotel for you. Transportation into Zürich centre is easy, the tram stop number 2 is literally outside and takes about 18mins! Overall, a pleasant stay.

Seriously, no air conditioning? Noise plaza especially since the only air was by having your window wide open. Definitely change needed there. Otherwise, plenty of food and options around the location. It is far away from transportation centers.

I can't recommend it.

Some of the staff at the reception were very unfriendly not to say arogant.
No refrigerator in the room.
The last night (May 25th to 26th) there was a terrible, loud buzzing noise from 2am to 6 am.
Upon calling the front desk they said something was wrong with the ventilation and the trouble would be solved within 15 minutes. That was at 2.30 am and it lasted till 6 am.
Room mades were efficient and friendly.

Good value hotel but very noisy and uncomfortable

Room was basic but condition and clean for a 3 star. However the pillows were terrible and the mattress soft and concave in shape and very soft. No air con as can be expected but the room was so hot you needed to have window open to sleep, if only the church bell wasn’t going off every 15 minutes day and night. To top this off following the live music which you couldn’t here from the room, when loading all the equipment in car park behind us it sounded like drunks were rolling bins down the road for 50 minutes whilst laughing and being very loud between 12-45 and 1.30am The phone did not connect to reception and I had to go down and speak to reception in person to be told it is what it is and it will stop soon, not we will go speak to them and ask them to be quiet whilst rolling the equipment. I was told to speak to reception in the morning and they would sort me out. In the morning I spoke to a junior the only person on who told me all she could other me was free breakfast for my trouble and there was no one to talk to at the time in person or on the phone. The breakfast on the first day was a shambles with no plates or cutlery, no communication between the staff with every request coming across as an inconvenience. The second day made up for this but still average. The bathroom extract did not work which wasn’t particularly pleasant.

This is 40m away from a church which rings an extremely loud bell every hour, then a lighter bell every 10 minutes. Midnight, 4 light bells to prepare you for 12 extremely strong BAAANGGGGGs that make everything resonate. 1AM a strong bell, 1:10 a small bell, 1:20 another, 1:30 another... 4AM 4 strong bells, and so on.

But at 7AM is different, there are 2 minutes of continuous bells, 2 bells per second, to wake up the whole neighborhood.
And your room is 40m from that bell.

Couldn't sleep a second.

A few days in Zurich

The hotel was perfectly located for my needs. I had access to basic shopping nearby and proximity to trams for easy access to central Zurich and ZurchHB.The room was quite hot - there is no air conditioning but a fan was available. My single room was a good size, but some single rooms here are very small. Generally you would only want to use the room as a place to sleep, and a base to get out and about. But then that's what Switzerland is all about.

Like most hotels in Zurich, the hotel is not air-conditioned and, since I arrived at the start of a heat wave, it was quite warm. The hotel provided a free fan and since I was only in the hotel in the evening to sleep, it was not a problem. When the weather cooled off, it was again a comfortable temperature.
The hotel room was just what I wanted.

Hotel Spirgarten is clean, modern in a good location (near trams and Migros) 2 negative things no kettle (though was told available from January, we stayed in December and no breakfast included. We always went over to the Migros restaurant for a reasonable good breakfast.

Beautiful hotel

This hotel had lovely staff, excellent adjacent restaurant and lovely rooms unfortunately it was the middle of a heatwave (30-35 degrees Celsius) in Switzerland whilst we were there and there was no airconditioning. Also the church bells chime outside the room every 15 minutes from 7am til midnight. The hotel staff explained that it was only in the last year that they even got the church to stop for these hours! They did provide earplugs as we needed the window open as it was so hot! Would definitely stay again in cooler weather.

Better options

Given a handicapped furnished room (222), the toilet seat was broken and the bathroom sink was extremely small. Taxi cost 80 SWF to and 68 back to the airport. For the cost of the room and taxi fares, stay at the airport would have been a better option for the single night stay.

Great Hotel just out of the city Center

The hotel is located a little ways out from the center of Zurich and I made the mistake of getting a taxi there, very expensive. I should have just got the number 2 tram which goes right past the hotel and stops in front. The staff were very friendly and helpful and will even lend you an umbrella if it is raining. The rooms are very comfortable and the bed was excellent. It had the feel of an ikea showroom, very modern and all done in pale wood. I very much enjoyed my stay here and would recommend this hotel to friends.

Everything was great, the only problem I had: There were 2 bugs in my room, I stayed on the second floor, and there must be a church nearby, with a very laud bell. Otherwise highly recommended hotel, with excellent public transport, which is crucial in this very expensive country.

Ambiente limpo e organizado. Localização muito boa, com estação de trem e ônibus bem próximas. Tem um supermercado em frente ao hotel que supre todas as necessidades. O quarto é pequeno, mas acomoda muito bem um casal. Cama e banheiro ótimos. Recomendo este hotel.

-Facilidades limpias.
-Habitaciones comodas y limpias.
-Accesible a transporte publico, tiendas, restaurantes, supermercados.

Cons:
-Habitaciones no tienen AC. Hay que abrir las -ventanas y se escucha todo el ruido de la calle.
Te dan un abanico(ventilador) de pedestal para resolver.
-Recepcion tiene personal hasta las 9pm.
-El staff del buffette de desayuno no es amable, tardan mucho en surtir la comida. No tienen capacidad para manejar muchas personas a la vez.

Das Personal sehr freundlich.Die Lage perfekt für ein Konzert im Letzigrund oder für einen Stadt Besuch. Tramhaltestelle direkt vor dem Hotel.Das Restaurant ist ebenfalls sehr freundlich bedient, das Frühstück war sehr lecker.

Ich suchte eine Übernachtungsmöglichkeit in ZH Altstetten für 1 Nacht. Dabei sind für mich die Nähe (erreichbar zu Fuss), sowie der gute Anschluss an den öffentlichen Verkehr sehr wichtig. Beides wurde bestens erfüllt und der Aufenthalt war sehr angenehm.

Beim Check in bekam
ich ein tolles Upgrade auf Junior-Suite. Das Zimmer war sehr toll, leider war ich nur eine Nacht da. Die Fenster sind leider nicht sehr luft- und lärmdicht. Die Türen in den Gängen fallen sehr laut ins Schloss, das hört man sehr gut im Zimmer. Ansonsten tolles Hotel und gutes Frühstück.

Rooms are very small and have a claustrofobic feel.

The location is convenient, near all public transport

The breakfast is very good, but since there is no buffet and everything has to be ordered and prepared fresh, it takes a long time.
There is not sufficient staff available to assist with breakfast preparation.

Overall I would not stay here again

Good hotel but noise in the surrounding area

The hotel is very clean, the service excellent and the location very convenient with public transportation, shops and restaurants very close. The hotel also has its own restaurant with a terrasse.

Unfortunately, there is no air condition in the rooms and the window cannot be kept opened at night due to the noise outside all night long: traffic, people talking and deliveries in the early morning.

Fühle mich immer sehr wohl

Für meine Zwecke war der Aufenthalt gut. Ich kenne das Hotel schon lange und ich fühle mich dort immer sehr wohl.
Personal ist sehr freundlich, dass schätze ich sehr.
Lage ist sehr zentral, 10min voM Bahnhof und direkt bei einer Tramhaltestelle.
Ich finde das Restaurant auch top: gutes Essen, super Frühstück und endlich auch gutes Craftbier.
