This is an apartment concept geared towards the needs of business people and city travellers. The hotel is located in Altstetten quarter and its motto is "Home away from home".

Breakfast buffet is solid, especially once you figure out you can ask for scrambled eggs. It is very convenient to several different public transportation options and a quick walk to a major mall with a huge grocery store. A quiet neighborhood but easy to get to the downtown area for food and sightseeing.

I really love THE FLAG hotel Zürich. It’s an amazing place to stay whenever I’m back in Switzerland. I will definitely be staying back there again. The staff is very helpful. The homes are nice and clean and everything is with them walking distance. The tram is two minute walk away I mean, you can’t beat it. It’s the best😀

Great value for the money, especially for Zürich. It is slightly far from the tourist areas, but for 1/4th the price of a 4 star hotel, it’s totally worth it. My only complaint was that the room got too hot at night and I couldn’t figure out how to turn down the temp, but that’s probably my fault for being an idiot. If you’re looking for an affordable option in Zürich, this is it. Rooms are huge, in great condition, have a nice balcony and the staff is excellent. Thank you The Flag Zürich and I look forward to coming back.

The room we had was dirty, the power didn’t work, they wouldn’t allow us to turn on the heat.

No accountability by staff members, the manger I spoke with by email also didn’t bother to improve the situation by a partial refund considering 3/5 nights were NOT good. Might as well have gone camping.

Booked this hotel as it was indicated as \"VIP\" offer on hotels.com. The hotel itself was not bad and clean. Only downsides were: a) no AC so it was steaming hot in the room even with windows opened and plug in fan turned on; b) as hotels.com \"VIP\", free breakfast was only offered for the one person who made the booking. I just told my spouse to eat elsewhere instead of paying 20 CHF for additional breakfast. Breakfast food was only average anyway.

The hotel is very modern with friendly staff, good facilities and very clean. The room was spacious but fairly utilitarian and basic really. That has to be the most uncomfortable bad that I have ever ‘slept’ on. My partner agreed and when I mentioned it to the receptionist on check-out she volunteered that it was too hard.

We had an amazing experience at this hotel. The staff Natali and Rafael went out of their way to take care of us, help us with a last minute reservation, and handled any and all requests with a smile and excellent attitude. The breakfast was great, there’s coffee all day, and a nice frozen yogurt afternoon treat. The room we stayed in was beautiful, with a balcony and enough windows to help with ventilation. Location was also close to tram to get you anywhere in the city quickly. Thank you Natali and Rafael for an excellent stay! We loved this place and you guys were wonderful!

Mid June having no A/C and smells of smokers around wasn’t great. Vicinity requires a taxi. Bike rental was nice way to take a 30 minute ride to the main city. Very small room like being on a cruise ship. Laundry and weight room was nice and small fits only 2 people. Too small for one week stay. Stairs up to 3rd floor gives good exercise. Nearby indoor mall was 5 min walk. Thick layer of dust above kitchen area kept me sneezing. Asked for it to be cleaned and staff miscommunications never got it done. Nice new coffee, ice cream and vending machine in lobby with no A/C

The property have few amenities, and expedia VIP customers didnt even have the proper perks as promised. One male front desk agent even approached us that we are not entitled for breakfast. I clearly told the agent/receptionist that we booked for 2 breakfast, however he insisted that I only entitled for one. The perks for room upgrade and other amenities were not given. I called expedia customer service and they called the front desk to clarify things. End of the story, the guy completely didnt understand my booking. Expedia did a good job for clearing up the fuss. It was early in the morning and I was treated like this.

The facility has not enough amenities, it doesnt even offer continental breakfast. I only rated this as three stars because of Natalie/Natalia of the service desk in the reception. She is very friendly, helped us throughout our stay and accommodate our needs during our stay. Without her, I didnt even feel as VIP guest.

The room was clean. Spacious for a European hotel. Terrible pillows. No a/c in the hotel so the room was very hot, even with the window open. It made it hard to sleep at night. 10 min walk to main train station or 5 min walk to bus stop. Grocery stores near by. Really good breakfast and coffee. Nice hotel but I wouldn’t stay here again in the summer. I’d find a hotel with som air condition.

No frills great hotel in Zurich

This hotel was great. It was quite basic and no-frills but we really enjoyed it. The service was excellent, the rooms were clean, the breakfast was great and it was located really conveniently for multiple types of transport.

I must say although not what I initially expected the hotel was cute and convenient as well as staff members are extremely friendly and helpful. My only complaint was no air conditioning! But, since the weather was not the best most of our trip I suppose it was ok with no AC. Definitely a quiet more peaceful place which I love so if you’re into the loud or social scene then this might not work out for you.

hotel is rated 2 star but it’s more like 3 star. Breakfast is great, cleanliness is ok. One major drawback is that it gets extremely hot. the windows don’t have any screen on them so when you open them you get all the insects in the room. The fan they provided is not able to keep up with the heat sadly.

Pleasant stay with clean and large rooms

As I was in quarantine although having both my shots and negative I did not get to use much of the hotel facilities. But what ever I requested was left at my door. The rooms are clean and a very good size compared to other zurich hotels.
So if I had guests or needed a hotel again I would stay her.

Flag is a lovely and modern hotel, not too far from public transportation and supermarkets. The room was specious and clean and reasonably priced. My only complain would be lack of staff and unwelcoming check-in. We had to call them a few times (with our own phone) to get checked in and make other arrangements since there was nobody at the reception after 5.

I stayed there before but this time I was very disappointed. First when I arrived nobody was there and they did not think to send the door pin code as other hotels are doing in Switzerland. I had to wait 20 minutes before understanding that nobody worked at the reception after 5 pm. Then I called the customer service department and I was asked to provide my bank card number (never charged) while the booking was already paid. The worse happened few days later when while at the small fitness room within the hotel, I was surprised to see an external security guard who asked me not only to leave the room but also the hotel and to use my PIN code with him looking at me to check if I was really a guest. The last night, we had to support for few hours a strange situation with a young girl undressing herself in the street (She was staying at the hotel) front of the hotel and shouting. Nobody called the police or any security service. You never experience such situations in Switzerland and I was very disappointed. It would be my last stay there.

I think the lead photo for this property is slightly misleading - not what my room looked like! There were ants crawling up the wall next to my bed, which was unpleasant. Glad I was alone so I could sleep on the other side of the bed. But the staff were lovely and very helpful, especially organising for me to check-in early.

The Staff was very friendly and helpful, however there were two issues:
1. We stayed for 2 nights, and our room wasn't cleaned even once after we checked in.
2. The reception is vacant in late hours, which is the hotel policy and is being told well in advance. So no issues there. But there were issues in opening the main door with access code after the staff left. It was late in night and we along with another guest, were basically locked out of the hotel. if you do not know German, then this could be a bit of an issue. But this could might as well have been a one off case!
Otherwise, the staff was super tourist friendly, and tried to help us as much as possible despite language barrier.

You could catch the tram two blocks away and it would take you downtown Zürich.
There was no AC so we had to sleep with the window open. Because of this we could hear traffic. Also, the smell of cigarette smoke would drift through the window at night when people were on the ground level outside smoking.
There was not a fan in the bathroom so the entire space musty.

new modern hotel with balcony in Altstetten

interesting room in a newly built hotel. A short walk to the tram stop and you can be in town pretty quick. Nice clean place, with laid back staff.
As we were on a dedicated agenda we had one quirk and we felt it too late at night to call the service.

Either the aircon was broken or did not exist. Some fancy gadget was on the wall but the operation could not be interpreted. It was a very hot night that we stayed there so a fan was not cooling.
When arriving late back from our evening our room code did not work for the front entry but its probably not affecting other guests
We would go back to the Flag on our next visit

Fridge and sink in the room, together with basic crockery and cutlery (and washing up liquid!) meant that we could save money by having breakfast in the room and a light dinner - a definite bonus in Zurich as most restaurants are very expensive.
