The view was amazing. But the room lacked certain comforts and cleanliness for the price.

No tv, no fridge, dirty bathroom and shower.

The power also went out multiple times during our stay.

We also had no air conditoning until after 9pm. When you pay thar much for a room you should be able to have AC on demand. And with the power outage, we didnt have any AC until like 11pm.

They also were going to make us pay for bottled water, and my aunt complained so we didnt have to pay. No other hotel i have stayed at in cozumel made us pay for water and was always give as complimentary.

Staff was great. Food was great. Bike rentals were good. Scenery good. Pool was nice. Hotel room, unclean, lacking in certain comforts you would expect for a $300 per night room.
Not sure i would reccomend staying here.
Although beautiful, price is too high for what you get.

Solid choice away from the buzz

My wife and I stayed in room 22 for three nights. We were generally pleased with our decision to stay here. This is a place to get away from the crowds. But not to be pampered. Some guests will love this. If your idea of a vacation is to be pampered, this may not be the place for you. Since this is the remote side of the island, most know this already.

Pros: The atmosphere is very chill. \"adult only\" helps with that. The friendly staff always aimed to please. The sandy beach delivers nice ocean to swim in when the winds die down. The restaurant has a nice menu and can be very good. Also very pretty in the evenings and felt comfortable. Views from our room were hard to beat. Room was clean. Pool was clean and pleasant.

Cons: Rooms are very basic. Bathroom small and basic. The small pool can get crowded if everyone came at the same time. No bathroom in the common area. If we needed one, we had to return two flights to our room Uggh. (lower floors are better to have). The hotel seems to be run with a skeleton crew. And at peak dining hours, it showed. We often waited longer than we wanted, for drinks or for our food. The effort was always sincere, but with only one server, it was difficult. Quality of food lacked consistency. One night, the pasta was fantastic, the next night, it was not. The tortilla soup was the same. Best I ever had on Monday. What the heck...on Tuesday.

We had a rent car and we needed it. All in all: a great place!

Location is amazing! Very quiet, no tourists, own beach, rooms directly overlooking the water. Omar greeted us upon arrival and was very helpful, always making sure we had everything we needed! Miguel was the MVP of our trip!! He went out of his way to be sure we were taken care of, spoke and understood English, served us snacks and drinks by the pool. Pool warm and clean, nice loungers on the beach and poolside. Between ocean breeze and fan we never had to use the ac. We loved it at Ventanas!

I’ve never left a negative review before but I feel like I have to be honest. The photos of this property are very misleading. It is very run down. There were multiple windows to condos that were boarded up with ply wood. The bannisters on the stairs leading up to our room were broken off. When we checked into our room, one of the beds had the sheets and comforter balled up just laying on the bed. The toilet had urine in it. When the AC finally kicked on at 9:15, it took hours to cool the room down. I also developed some safety concerns immediately. I was on this trip with my mom, who is in her 50s. She tripped on uneven walkway areas twice, falling both times. The sliding door to our room didn’t lock. By the time all these issues were apparent, it was late at night so I waited until the next morning to try and find staff to raise my concerns. I couldn’t find anyone. There’s not really a front desk or lobby area. I tried messaging them on their what’s app contact and got no response. Given the safety concerns, we checked out. I requested just a partial refund through Expedia, who checked with the property, who declined. We were very disappointed but were able to find a condo that was much safer at another property.

They working on the upstairs units from an earlier hurricane so the hotel was pretty much vacant. I forgot I paid for an upgraded room with a refrigerator. When we checked in nobody said anything and the refrigerator wasn’t plugged in so we didn’t use it. Last day management said we had the upgrade and all I had to do was plug the refrigerator in. I would have used it if I knew that. All the employees were super nice.

No electricity and no refunds!

We were traveling with my grandparents and one is on oxygen but it does not say that anywhere on listing so we went and explained we have to have electricity for her to breathe. They do not answer the phone so i drove 30 mins there n spoke to Miguel n he said no problem but $400 n didnt stay is outrageous!! I have seen other hotels that are honeat about the lack of electricity but unfortunately this hotel is not.

The staff was amazing and kind. We were the only couple there due to the hurricane however they still kept the resort full functioning as if it were full. My only complaint is that there is some upkeep needed and the food prices are extremely overpriced. Elli and Omar were very kind to us and helpful when it was time to evacuate. We will absolutely be back and we cant wait to be there. Thank you for an amazing memory!

If you are looking for quet place with no street lights or pretty much anything within 30miles radius this is the place for you. Ocean front, sound of waves, super friendly stuff, amazing food!
Not to mention stargazing! You can see every little star up there!
Easy and enjoible ride to many swimmable beaches, reefs, town etc.
We loved everything about this place.
I can highly recomend it!

This is definitely a “get away from it all” place. It’s also a lot like stepping back in time, because the area is very undeveloped and isolated. Air conditioning is only available at night, but there is a lot of wind and ocean and pool water to cool you off during the day. The sound of the waves crashing is constant, if you like that sort of din… I liked it. The panoramas are incredible no matter which direction you look.

If you can, imagine this: you're in Mexico and you and your partner have the whole beach to yourself -- no kids, no crowds, no kidding! Just beautiful beach stretching as far as your eye can see; great ocean breezes, quiet (but for the crashing ocean waves), and hardly anyone else around. The hotel itself shows some signs of wear, and with no TV or fridge, staying here may take some getting used to; but, if it's solitude and peace & quiet you desire, this IS the place. Also, the staff is wonderful, the drinks are great, and the food is delicious and reasonably priced. A perfect getaway to revel in the beauty of nature, and to recharge your inner peace!

OVERALL: Small, adults-only, boutique hotel in an isolated area. If you want to escape the world with a book under a palapa, this is your place. If you want 5-star accommodations with activities and service to your room or palapa, this is not your place.
LOCATION: Remote. At night you can see the stars. The beach is very soft so not possible to take a long walk, but a hike/bike trail along the coast. Avoid swimming or snorkeling due to large waves. A 10-minute walk is Chen Rio beach with a rock barrier so you can wade. Also, a beach restaurant.
ROOM: Clean with tile and stucco. Dresser with drawers but no closet or place to hang clothes. Spring bed not comfortable if used to memory foam. AC from 9pm-8am but we preferred the breeze. Soap, shampoo and drinking water but no hair dryer, TV, or coffee machine. The toilet area shared the same floor as shower so was often wet.
AMENITIES: Lounge chairs around the pool and beach, with several palapas. Games and cards provided. No water activities or equipment. No standard room service or drink service to the beach. Internet was slow and sporadic. Cell phone hit and miss, best standing on upper floor walkway.
FOOD: Hotel offers breakfast, lunch, dinner with many options. Prices reasonable. Most meals good, several spectacular, though two had undercooked vegetables, pasta. Coconuts bar is also next door.
STAFF: They do everything possible to make your stay enjoyable. Only negative is we were questioned about our tip during checkout.

ABSOLUTELY love this place!!! If you are looking for a relaxing, quiet, away from everyone place to stay this is your place. All you hear every evening is the sound of the waves, the staff is very friendly & will assist with any requests you have, food is wonderful, rooms are cleaned daily, can walk to the restaurant/bar next door if you choose, have a stretch of beach all to yourself, pool, many chairs arranged around the property you can move, they give you beach towels, bring drinks & food to you on the beach or by the pool. The entire staff is amazing. We will be back every year. (No TV's in the room but you do get WiFi.) A great place to completely unwind and relax!! LOVED IT!!!

It's nice but it needs some improvements.
The location of the property is beautiful. The views are fantastic. We loved hanging out on our porch, although there was a broken broad on it and it didn't feel totally secure. We stayed in the corner room (on the south side of the property). The king size bed was very comfortable and listening to the ocean waves crash all night was very relaxing.
A couple complaints about the room was the ceiling had a place where it looked like it could fall off at any time, it didn't during our stay but when knows when it will go. And then the bed had sand in it already before we had ever got into it. So we aren't sure if the bed sheets were new or not.
We enjoyed a nice dinner the first night. It was overpriced but still enjoyable, food was good but drinks were just okay. But breakfast the next morning was not enjoyable at all. Again overpriced and neither dish was filling or satisfying.
The beach is a fun beach to walk on but it's hard to fully enjoy with all the garbage. I understand the trash is a never ending battle but there doesn't seem to be any effort to even try to clean up the area close the hotel.

25th Anniversary getaway.

We had an amazing experience staying at Ventanas Al Mar. It was very remote and very private. The staff members were very helpful and kind and went out of their way to make our 25th anniversary very special. We had a great dinner with rose petals everywhere and then we got a surprise in her room with rose petals and candles everywhere. The view was astounding. You literally sleep by the waves. Our only complaints was that there is no air conditioning during the day and it does not come on until late at night. However, there is typically a breeze coming through the room most of the time. We really enjoyed our anniversary getaway.

Morning staff was excellent, check in staff not too much, too busy taking care of everyone else. Promised to arrange massage to come to property totally forgot- again preoccupied with other guests. Seriously, one of the best resorts in Cozumel. If you are looking for a unique stay…this is it! It’s a very laid back place with only 19 rooms, and a handful of staff. If you like peace, the sound of the sea while you sleep, and a break from civilization….book now!
Samantha took such great care of us with check in, information, our rooms, and checkout….even making sure I had coffee in the early am! Omar and Esteban are two of the friendly bartenders/waiters you will ever meet! Both of them are quick, funny, and a pleasure to be around! We can’t wait to return! Ventanas is quite literally heaven on Earth!

This View Can't Be Beat Anywhere!

The view is breath-taking! There's no better view on Cozumel! This hotel is on the \"Wild Side\" of Cozumel. The location is very secluded and private. Our hosts Omar and Esteban were so accomodating and welcoming. The food is absolutely delicious! They offer all three meals so you do not have to leave the site if you do not wish. The housekeeping staff is excellent and pays attention to details. Be aware the site is eco-friendly-in this case there is no air conditioning from about 7:00 am to 10:00 pm. But, in our case, that was not an issue as there was a constant breeze coming in from the ocean. The pool is well kept and cleaned every morning. \"Coconuts\" Bar & Restaurant is adjacent to the site and it's a fun and upbeat place to go. Ventanas is in the process of adding a beach bar too.
The only improvement I would have to say (and this would not keep me from visiting again), would be that our room #24 could use a bathroom update. It was clean, but dated. Overall, we LOVED Ventanas al Mar.

In a more remote part of the island. Surf rough and not good for snorkeling but this was part of the appeal. The staff and food were excellent views from hotel are beautiful This was a more quiet side of the island but quite enjoyable and it’s a small island so nothing is a great distance to drive I would definitely stay again

Very, very limited cell service at this property, which I appreciated. There is no fridge in room which didn’t bother me but I know some people wouldn’t like that. Malo (spelling?) was incredibly accommodating. He recommended the cheesecake which was addicting. Breakfast was delicious. Despite ordering the same vegetable omelette every morning, it had slightly different variations of vegetables and sides came every time. The coffee was fresh and tasty. I loved the quietness, quaintness and remoteness of this hotel. As I have returned to home in my city, I already miss listening to the sounds of the waves crashing against the rocky shore and feeling the ocean breeze through the night.

Everything was great! The only thing if you rent a car be sure you are back before 8pm or you will have to talk to the cops to get back through since they close the road to the backside of the island. Other than that it was great!

If you are looking for a remote, peaceful stay to recharge then this is it! The on site food was all wonderful and very very reasonable for Cozumel (the prices next door at Coconuts were almost twice the cost); they ask you to preorder your dinner selection & pick a time so that it will be ready. No mini fridge in the room but they will keep some items cold for you in their fridge. No center reception but the employees greet you in the central outdoor seating area. They could not have been more accommodating! We rented a car for half our stay and that was plenty. There’s a great bike and walking path that goes in front of the hotel and morning sunrises and evening stars are wonderful!

Views are out of this world! It is a lot like glamping as facilites are a bit rustic. Don’t expect a hot shower or freezing cold rooms. Not a bad thing, just something to be aware of. Also, food/drinks are a bit pricey based on the fact that you are a captive audience and it’s difficult to eat elsewhere. Also, breakfast is NOT included if you book with a third party vendor. Must book directly with the hotel to have breakfast included. Overall, a great experience and we would go there again.

We were more than pleased with our stay! The location was perfect to get away from the chaos. Our room had an incredible view! The staff was so friendly and helpful. There's nothing i can say that i didn't like. Ventanas was perfect!! From the moment we arrived and opened up our door to the water and sound of the waves. The beach was beautiful, love the Palapas, beach loungers and hammocks. The breakfast was amazing, so fresh and good. We only ate one dinner, but wish we had eaten more there. The food was the best we had on the island. The people that work at Ventanas are all so friendly and welcoming. On the day we left one of the girls from housekeeping gave me a huge hug!!! We can't wait to go back to Ventanas!!

First…you need to know that there is NO Air Conditioning between the hours of 6ish am and 9ish pm. We didn’t know that before we arrived at 2:00 in the afternoon. That was a very disappointing surprise! There is a ceiling fan but that is not sufficient during the heat of the day when the sun is shining straight into your glass door. The bathroom had an awful, dirty smell. The people were kind. The included breakfast was nice and made to order. We opted not to purchase dinner any of the nights we were there. It is a beautiful view but not a good/safe side of the island to get in the water. The resort is not private if there are other people at the resort. The verandas are shared on the bottom floor and the balconies above you look down on the shared veranda. The resort is about a 25 minute drive from any attractions. Rental car is a must but there is limited parking at the resort, although we never had any issue getting a spot.

We slept like babies. The mattresses were so comfortable, the ocean air swept over us and kept us cool, and the sound of the wind and waves rocked us to sleep each night. It's rare to find a hotel where you can sleep with the sliding glass doors open. The wind kept the mosquitos away and we never turned on the AC.

The staff were friendly and always available to us. The guests were mellow and respectful of the peaceful setting. The food was so good we ate most of our meals here. We spent our Christmas holiday here, enjoyed the retreat so much, we just decided to return next year.

If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the all-inclusive/traditional Cozumel area near downtown, then this is the place to be. The staff is very accommodating and friendly, personal even. We loved meeting Gustavo, Manuel, and Omar along our trip. Both English and Spanish spoken and a gorgeous beach to walk up and down to inexpensive local restaurants. It is on the opposite side of the island where it is more isolated and secluded. Very romantic spot and amazing rooms overlooking the ocean. We fell asleep every night with the porch doors open and the waves hitting the rocks. No air conditioning needed, although it’s available when sleeping hours. Meals were locally caught fish and lobster, and breakfast was authentic and fresh! Loved this place!!

This far from the hustle and bustle of the west coast. It’s a place for adults to stay and chill out. No kids, no television, no cell phone signal, a real hideaway. The menu is excellent and the margaritas even better. Owner was very accommodating and friendly. We had a great time.

After seeing the Room we never checking in , nothing true with the infos on the web. No Restaurant, Wifi , TV , AC ( only 8-19 pm we get this Info) dirty Room , old paint cracking walls. Toilet/Bathroom filthy . No Hairdryer etc-Pool not clean , 2 dirty benches , run down property-fake Reviews ! 10/10 mostly
