The customer service at the front desk was not helpful. We waited for way too long as the lady at the desk went on and on with the guest in front of us. Talking about language and all the travel they have experienced. This was at 12 am. I had an issue in my room and it was never solved. We also had to move rooms on our two night visit and they moved our luggage. I came back to the hotel to find my AirPods missing. Funny enough the housekeeper was wearing them. I have the location on my phone and it’s disappointing to say the least.

We just got home after staying 3 nights at hotel zed in February. It was a fantastic time, lots to do with the pool, slide, hot tub and sauna and the best part was grandmas basement having a billiards table and lots of areas to sit and socialize with friends and family. Location is pretty great, it’s right across from a mall and down Douglas street is the main downtown coastal part of Victoria with neat old buildings and restaurants. I would definitely recommend this hotel for families looking for a unique place to stay with kids of all ages. The place was clean, the beds were comfy. We will stay here again!

The staff was awesome, they check on you to see if your enjoying stay and help with anything , clean room, it was quiet away from the street traffic, if you get hungry- Mayfair across the road with food court has many choices ti choose from. Ruby’s restaurant was is awesome, amazing food and staff sooo friendly. My whole stay was great. Only thing I would ask for when I go back is ask if they have a flatter pillow, the one they have is a too big and made my neck sore as it was too high. From the vintage aesthetic to the small touches like fresh ground coffee to take to your French press Hotel Zed knocks it out of the park. The water is slide is so fun and the pool was as warm and comfortable. Have breakfast at Ruby’s! The food is so good. Such a fun stay , highly recommend for anyone.

The hotel is a previously old motel - it smells like it (think old motel where people smoked a lot) regardless of the reno's. It's fun and funky for the theme, however, the location of this place is not great. Its a super busy area, car alarms going off all night, homeless out and about, and sirens - many many sirens. Plus you can hear your neighbors a lot as well.
For my stay their hot water was not working properly upon my arrival which was fine, but it lead into the morning with water issues making it not pleasant to shower before my work day. The wifi was also in and out a lot from my room. Even 5G wasn't working well, so i must have been in a dead zone.
The staff via text asked what they could do to help with the issues i was having and when i sent a reply back to them, they ghosted me and had no solutions - they didn't even try.
I left here tired from a sleepless night, freezing from a cold shower, and disappointed with the customer service.

We had such an excellent stay! The staff were super helpful (thanks Jessica on the front desk!). Two things stood out....first, we asked if there was a spot to keep a freezer pack frozen, and it was no bother at all, it was stored in the staff freezer. Second, we asked if it was possible to do a late check out and they was accommodated no problem at all.
The room was lovely. Very clean, spacious, good vibes. Check in process was smooth. We had complimentary coffee with non-dairy milk optio a for the French press in the room. And we had our dog with us, and it was a great process to have her needs met.

Extra bonus was having The Ruby on site for brunch. We had planned to meet friends for brunch there and had no idea that it was actually at the hotel! Wins all round.

The noise level inside the rooms if pretty high, I suggest bringing ear plugs as the noise from slamming of doors and the motel style walkway can get loud at night and the kfc was surprisingly noisy all hours of the night with delivery trucks beeping and picking up garbage, especially if your room is facing the parking lot, like 3-5am! Very family friendly so there will be loud kids running around outside your windows, only real downside of the older hotel.

Loved our stay here. Sweet suite had enough space for a family, and we all enjoyed the 70s vibe so much! We enjoyed teaching the kids to play pool down in Grandmas Basement. We didn’t have time to enjoy the pool, but it looked great. Will definitely stay again!

I booked 2 identical rooms, one for myself and one for my parents. I have given an \"OK\" rating because while my room was great, the bathroom floor of man prints room was very sticky. They asked the front desk to clean it, which they did, but when they went back inside they realized the floor in front of the sink was also very sticky but it was too late into the evening to bother calling them in to clean it. There was also an oder to their room that triggered my mom's asthma quite badly. She couldn't tell if it was from an animal in the room previously or bleach, but she had to use her asthma inhaler 4 times during the night, which it is recommend to use that particular one max of twice a day, so this was very excessive and obviously something inside the room that triggered a very physical response she has not experienced in any other hotel room previously. I may or may not book here again, but my parents never will. They were quite uneasy with the floors not cleaned and the odor.

Fun room, great staff, very welcoming, restaurant very good. If you’re wondering, the waterslide entrance / stairs is outdoors but the water slide run out ends inside the pool building. And the water is comfortable even when the air temp is a bit lower.

Fabulous stay at the Zed. The breakfast at the Ruby was delicious, and I would definitely go back. The hotel was such a cool vibe, and the rooms were charming and cozy. The beds were very comfy, the coffee was delicious we loved the French press. It was the perfect stay for our getaway.

This hotel is like a motor hotel but as always super fun, quirky, lovely new furnishings, great grandma basement. Didn’t get to try the restaurant for breakfast, too busy, but looks great. Please open more locations. Love the Zed always!!!

I was very thrilled about our stay here. Location was amazing with it being right across from Mayfair Mall in Victoria. We we went to a concert at the save on Centre and walked back and it wasn't that bad. They have a breakfast place you can go tey on location. Thou we didnt try it was busy & everyone seemed to like. The staff was amazing. I have a extremely neutrodivergent family and we found the rooms were perfect for us. The lights we adjustable so that my autistic son wasnt overstimulated. We stayed in the one bedroom suite he could have quiet space and loved the space. He very much approved. They let us check in much earlier cause he was having a hard time and we need space to have him calm down. I couldn't be more grateful for the staff and accommodation. Beds were comfy. Even the little details of the frech press coffee and giving us cream when we checked in amazing. They have a firepit too in the back. We didnt get to use but we will be back. I cant stop raving about our stay to everyone. Definitely also brought back memories of grandmas basement in a good way. Love it. ❤️❤️❤️

LOVED the decor and 1970s vibe, beautifully decorated rooms with everything you need (stove top, coffee bodum, pots and pans, toaster and kettle) comfortable beds and the pool with waterslide was amazing! Short drive to downtown and across the street from a big mall. Family friendly and was very quiet at night. The breakfast restaurant in the hotel was delicious and the service was fantastic. Highly recommend and will stay again!

My friends and I really enjoyed our stay here! Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was decorated in such a fun and creative way (without being tacky), had lots of space to spread out, beds were comfortable, and everything was clean. The extras like the pool/hot tub, fire pit, communal lounge spaces, and the coffee/cream/sugar provided to make yummy French press coffee in the mornings put it over the top!
The only downsides were that the room wasn't totally soundproof and there was construction next door, so this was a bit annoying, but it didn't take away too much at all from an otherwise great stay!

If you love 40 year old decor this is the right place for you. It's very cool and worth seeing for sure. $600 a night for basically a motel kitchenette from the 70's in high season however. No coffee maker, laundry room needs alot of work. Add a change machine and maybe updated machines, some bounce sheets, fabric softener even for sale somewhere. It's a cool place. The one in Tofino is nicer for sure.

Ruby was a restaurant in the office area and the food there was the best we’ve had for breakfast. The waffles are to die for. Make sure to get the whipped cream. It was quiet at night and we felt safe. They have bikes that you can use for biking downtown. Rooms were clean and we had a mini fridge and a microwave. We highly recommend Hotel Zed as a great place to stay

Really like the vibe and mission statement for the Hotel Zed chain -- very upbeat, friendly and welcoming to all. Every day we were able to get little jars of ground coffee and cream for the French press in our room. Room had a compact kitchenette with everything. Only down side was our room was right above the pool and adjacent to the water slide, which got heavy use. Fortunately the staff shut it down at 10 PM and it was instantly much quieter.

Love exploring the retro decor in the room and in the property, including trying to master the Yo-yo and hard to tear them away from the pool and fun water slide. The staff are so accommodating and the property clean and well cared for. We were ungraded to the “cottage” as the the room we booked was not available - fabulous!!!
