It is a unique old building. Quite a “Fawlty Towers” vibe.
No elevator and very long staircase, which while beautiful, was awkward , especially descending oddly enough.
Squeaky floors and bed. Fine for one night.

I recently stayed at this charming hotel and had a wonderful experience. The ambiance made me feel like I had stepped back in time or was staying in a museum. The room was spacious and comfortable, though the bathroom was a bit on the smaller side. The staff were exceptional, providing excellent service throughout my stay. Initially, the location seemed a bit sketchy, but it turned out to be in the heart of everything, making it very convenient to explore Chile Centro. I would definitely stay here again.

Matildas Hotel Boutique is a little gem of a place, a former family home still managed by friendly family members. There is no elevator, but someone helped get heavy bags upstairs (with a dumb waiter?) I felt like a visitor in a stately private home rather than being in a hotel. I also felt safe and the staff provided me with excellent help to organize a wine tour and find good restaurants.

Beautiful hotel with an Awesome staffs

We had a wonderful time staying at this beautiful and unique colonial mansion which was converted into a hotel. The room was clean with modern amenities with colonial charm. The staffs Catalina, Macarena, Fernanda, Milenka and Isidora were very welcoming and very helpful. Special Thank-you to Macarena for helping us with our issue with the local tour company. The front desk staffs took care of us very well. The surrounding of the area is safe and restaurants are at a walkable distance. I highly recommend this hotel for your stay.

Matildas Hotel is beautiful property with lovely garden. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and try their best to assist me (even im cases they didnt spoke English and I didnt speak Spanish). Its clean and quiet, nice place for relaxing stay. It is also close by walk to the cith centre. Just one must be careful when walking around and not showing phone or valueables on the street.

We enjoyed a wonderful two days at Matildas. The hotel was a wonderful refuge, especially the garden, and the vibe was relaxed and friendly. Macarena, at the front desk, was kind and thoughtful as she helped us with our early arrival. Her suggestions for travel around the city were helpful, and we went to two of the three restaurants she recommended (both were excellent). Although all of the staff were friendly, Macarena really stood out. We would definitely stay here again.

If you are looking for an authentic experience that is close to important parts of Santiago you will be happy here. The neighborhood has many things to offer, don’t be discouraged by others saying bario Brasil is a little dangerous. I have been to many cities in South America and Santiago felt safe the entire time.

This is an extraordinary place to stay in Santiago. It’s a beautiful and architecturally significant 1912 house that dates from the classic period of the unpretentious but grand Barrio Brasil. The property has three quite tall stories (there is no elevator) but is not too wide, and the overall effect for the guest is of residing in a surprisingly intimate home.

My third story room had a fine wooden floor, a very high ceiling with impressive decorative flourishes, and handsome shutters that opened out onto a view of slightly busy Agustinas street and to a view to the south and southeast and the mountains. There was a bit of street noise from passing cars (nothing that bothered me) so some guests might prefer a room facing the pleasant back garden. The bed was very comfortable. My favorite public room in the hotel was the library, a cozy space with big windows facing the garden. I benefited from two good books about Valparaiso there.

Barrio Brasil was always interesting, lively but laid-back, with rich street art and only a modest number of tourists, and with the Alberto Hurtado University only a few blocks from Matildas contributing to the neighborhood’s vibe.

And as others have said, the people at Matildas are wonderful - tremendously kind, full of intelligent conversation and good humor as well as great advice. Please be kind in return if you stay here.

Good Santiago hotel

I was very impressed with how well everyone spoke English at the hotel. They really helped me when I checked in to get me comfortable with the hotel and the surrounding area. And they pointed me in the right direction to get some food at 9:00 p.m. at night. There are a lot of restaurants right around the hotel and bars. There's also a nice park. And I got a free glass of white wine when I checked in! My room was perfectly clean. My only mark off for cleanliness is at the breakfast buffet there was a black long hair on something... Not a big deal for me because it wasn't something that I was interested in getting at the buffet... Just a notice...

This property charges extra when a debit card is used. Our stay cost more than what was quoted on Travelocity. The hotel continued to charge us (for breakfast and other fees) even after we were told our account had a zero balance. They run a bar with loud music in the courtyard late into the night. There is no air conditioning. The door loch would not work on the door.

Wonderful hotel. Absolutely gorgeous. And the staff was so friendly and accommodating - always making sure you're comfortable and going the extra bit to make your staff enjoyable. They got all the little things (and big things) right. While it's a bit out of the central area, the hotel is not difficult to access and there are a ton of dining options in the area. One drawback is that's there's no TV, but that's not uncommon for smaller hotels in Chile and the WiFi worked quite well. It's like an oasis - the garden and common rooms are a bonus to make you like you're being pampered in your own home. Stayed for two days in February 2023 on my second stay in Santiago. Would highly recommend.

The staff is very professional, proactive, and friendly. I am coming back. They also provided recommendations on things to do during a Santiago sojourn and dinning recommendations that were solid.

Our group enjoyed the backyard patio; it felt as though we were miles away from Santiago. A little wine there too and we felt right at home.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Their English was very good and it was easy to communicate.
The building in more than 100 years old. It seems that this was a private property/villa that was transformed into a boutique hotel. Some of the old feature of the villa were preserved. However the new furniture does not match the old spirit of the hotel. The back yard is very nice. The breakfast was very good. The hotel is about 15 minutes walking from the center.

The hotel is beautiful and Rocio went out of her way to accommodate us. Unfortunately our room had a sink that was clogged and the toilet quit flushing in the middle of the night. The air conditioner made a loud noise all night. Needless to say, we did not get much sleep between the AC noise and the constant machine gun noises from the street, which lasted until 3am. When we told Rocio about the issues we had she said that maintenance would not be working that day and offered a bathroom in a nearby room to use.

The couple who own and run this hotel do an amazing job. The staff is communicative and very helpful. Continuously updated, the rooms are roomy, well appointed, and clean and the beds very comfortable. The garden in back is priceless. Breakfast and bar selections are very good and the location can hardly be beat—in a quiet neighborhood less than a kilometer walk to the old section and museums of Santiago. Many excellent dining options within walking distance. Would heartily recommend this as a place to stay for your visit to this historic city

Old World Charm & Beauty!

This is a gorgeous hotel in an old mansion with a beautiful garden in the back that provides a serene retreat from the world outside. We were very charmed by it all! The breakfast is delicious and the staff is very friendly and helpful. My only critique -- which I already shared with the hotel -- is that they spray each room with heavy fragrance after each cleaning. It is completely unnecessary. If strong fragrance is something that bothers you, speak up before you check in and they will do their best not to spray the room the day you arrive. In speaking with the very nice hotel owner about this, he seemed open to ending this practice altogether and perhaps he will have done so by the time you check in. The hotel is next to a long street with many different restaurants, cafes and bars, and it's not too far from the Plaza Armas. In all, we definitely recommend this hotel for it's Old World charm and beauty!

Peacefull Oasis in the City

Situated on an unremarkable street, Hotel Boutique Matildas stands out as a beautifully renovated and architecturally important reminder of an elegant and bygone era. For my wife and I, it was great to see wonderfully carved wooden banisters, ultra high ceilings having intricate crown moldings. Having a great breakfast with soft classical music was a wonderful start to confront our next encounter with the city. The magnificent attention that the staff gives to each guest was similar to a five star hotel. to finish the day, we just sat in the garden holding hands with our favorite beverage and a smile in our soul. Very secure hotel well situated within walking distance to República metro station and Lisbon Heroes where the Centropuerto airport bus stops. Our room was clean and comfortable but floors a bit creaky and could have done with some shower gel. The breakfast is delicious, and staff extremely helpful. They provide metro cards for use during your stay, and because we had to check out early to get to the airport, they provided us a packed breakfast to take with us!

A cool quirky little hotel easy walking distance to city centre. The old historical building gives the feeling of yesteryear. The beautiful high ceilings, airy rooms and tall shuttered windows overlook a pretty garden and mature trees.
The friendly and attentive staff speak good english which was a big help as our spanish is poor.
This hotel is not your modern big-chain deal so will not suit everyone. But if you want to step back in time and have a relaxing stay in a quaint hotel that captures the feeling of the city a hundred or more years ago I thoroughly recommend.

Easy to find, just a 5 minute walk from the Los Heros bus terminal by local bus from the airport.
Plenty of good food options nearby, we ate at Squella restaurant, 94 Cuming, 5 minutes away. Beautiful seafood with nice staff.
Matilda's is a charming renovated house loaded with character. Generous breakfast including eggs done any way was was offered. Better than many 5 star hotels.
A little away from \"downtown\" but Barrio Brasíl has a better vibe anyway. Loved the pastries at breakfast.

Very comfortable room within a beautifully refurbished period property. Very friendly staff who together deliver an excemplary experience. Great breakfast and dinner. Hotel located short walk from Cumming station on green line of Metro. 15 mins walk into heart of Santiago so ideally located to explore city.

I love this hotel

This property deserves Outstanding. It is in every way. Can't say enough good about it and the staff. Lovely old place and beautifully restored. One feels like they have gone back in time to a beautiful old home that is immaculate. Great staff, breakfast so good and cooked to order eggs if you wish. Loved it and hated to leave.

Satisfied in Santiago

We were very pleased with the hotel and the staff. The garden is an oasis and the building is an architectural gem. The breakfast was quite good. The room was small but that wasn't a problem for us. However, the street noise was unfortunate. Ask for a room overlooking the garden.
