The Hotel Plaza San Francisco was first built in 1989 and has since become the newest 5-Star luxury hotel in downtown Santiago after undergoing extensive renovation works and remodeling. Located just a short distance from the heart of Santiago, it offers unbeatable possibilities of sightseeing well within walking distance of the hotel.

Nearby, visitors can find the Government palace as well as some of the most important national monuments. Convention centers and cultural activities are also to be found in the vicinity; among these are the Diego Portales Building, the Museum of Fine Arts, and the Opera House.

Wonderful location, amazing breakfast buffet, great amenities, outstanding staff. The front desk was so helpful, Roberto was a wonderful friendly waiter, all the doormen were super efficient and kind. We enjoyed our stay very much and would highly recommend this hotel in Santiago Chile.

We had hoped to check in early but we sat waiting in the lobby for 3 hours while the room wasn't ready. Had we been told there was no chance we would have go out and explored vs just sitting. English is not spoken nor understood by the serving staff. Our meals/drinks were a challenge to order and yet the vast majority of guests were english speaking. Don't ask to split the bill as this isn't understood nor is the 15% discount on food/beverages we were expecting based on booking with expedia as a vip guest.

We got there at noon and waited in the bar area. We were assigned a room which was not ready at 3pm, check-in time. There was 3 of us renting rooms, 1 was ready early, 1 was ready before 3pm and was ready for a while but we werent infotmed it was ready. We were assigned a different room , not sure why we couldnt have gotten it earlier. The toilet squealed and the coffee area only had 2 ciffee pods, no tea, no cream, no sugar. I went back down and asked at 3:30 for it to be rectified. It wasnt. I went back diwn to the front desk before going to eat. I asked and they wanted to pawn me off on someone ekse. I said you talk to whoever and rectify it. When they did finally bring the supplies we were missing in the original setup, they tried to charge it to our room. We told them that was unacceptable and explained the situation and they grudgingly didnt charge us. We also had issues with the dining staff, instead of bringing us cold water, they brought us boiling hot water as drinking water. It took an hour to get 2 beers after the first bottle had chunks.
I then asked for no spinach, seasoned vegetables from the menu instead, but no mushrooms. They bring me 3 ribs, tons of mashed potatoes, and all mushrooms for the vegetable. After the 3rd attempt to send it back, i received the seasoned vegetables but it was 1/2 mushrooms. The food manager comped my bill, but we were totally dissatisfied with the service.

Room was clean, staff friendly and helpful;.On our last day, checkout was at noon. I asked if they had a room to change into travel clothes since our flight did not leave Santiago until 8:55 pm. Without hesitation, the main manager at the front desk said that we could stay in our room until 4;30 pm. when we had arranged for a transfer to the airport. This hotel is located close to the city centre with an easy walk to Place de Armas. Overall a very enjoyable stay. I would highly recommend this hotel.

This property is very well located in Santiago's old downtown area located a few steps from old historic buildings. The hotel is very well maintained and clean. It offers a well varied breakfast option and quiet rooms with beautiful wood finishes. Staff is courteous and polite. We will be recommending this hotel to our snowbird friends and we will be coming back.

Room was clean except the washroom was not cleaned from previous Check out, toilet bowl had poo sticking, both sinks were dirty with stuff from the nose, didn't complain to the front desk as we were tired from 20 hour flight and all day sight seeing. I am a female solo traveler and stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is very clean, very walkable to all the sites and various restaurants and the staff extremely kind, professional and helpful.

I had to find a way to get from Santiago to Concón and was trying to secure an uber but the staff suggested I take a local bus that would save me a lot of money and time (bc it was difficult to find an uber that would actually take me 2 hrs to the coast).

The kind staff who helped me book this bus ride went above and beyond and I was so grateful bc it was a part of my trip that I had not fully planned out.


I would definitely stay at this hotel again!

Downtown hotel

Check in was challenging. Our luggage was supposed to be moved to our room but wasn’t. We returned from a tour very late and then had to retrieve our bags and get to the room. Our room was neat but dust everywhere. The wood baseboards and the closets and doors were covered in dust. I woke up congested both mornings.

Breakfast was excellent along with the service at all hotel areas - bars etc. one huge concern was the availability of lifts - one broke for the complete stay & another intermittently not working which meant we had to use the stairs to the 7th floor.

My wife and I chose to stay overnight in Santiago as we headed to Patagonia. We are so, so, so happy that we chose to stay at Hotel Plaza San Francisco. The staff treated us like we were 5 Star guests. They allowed us to check in early for a small fee. They also were able/willing to do a small cash exchange at the check in. The staff was great. They need all the praise they can get for being so hospitable.

The room was great. The bed was comfortable and the restroom was super clean. Loved the shower. The morning breakfast was excellent with many options. The location, for us who love to urban walk, was excellent. We were able to easily walk around town and feel safe while doing it. The taxi dropped us off and picked us up at the front door. The whole experience was excellent and I would highly recommend this stay for anyone staying in Santiago. We will definitely stay here again if we are ever in Santiago in the future. Awesome experience.

Good value for money for this category of hotel. Traditional, fairly formal style and a little dark. We were upgraded to superior room and it was large and comfortable as was bathroom although shower was over the bath.

We arrived at 10am from an overnight flight and for 50 USD they allowed us to check in straightaway and have breakfast.

Decent gym and an indoor pool. Roof top bar which we didn't go to.

Breakfast was OK but not the best quality and it was the same every day.

There was only ever one lift working which caused a few long waits.

Location is OK but not the best. It's on the main road through the city so there a few shops and and fast food places around but nearest restaurant area is 15 mins walk.
