The room was pretty dirty (of the looks reasonably clean but socks immediately turn black variety) and there were several ripped bags full of trash sitting right outside the door when we arrived, as though housekeeping had once intended to dispose of it but had forgotten. The clerk asked us if we would mind hauling it downstairs and he would be able to dispose of it later so I had to re-bag and dispose of somebody else’s impressively large and messy trash pile. They didn’t have bedding for the pull out bed anvailable. And of course the AC didn’t work in the room. Stay away from here if you can avoid it.

So talk about deception when booking a hotel/suite that you have never been before. First off the pictures online make everything look great, Supposedly they are”transitioning” to a “Marriott hotel”which is great but does that mean by the time the transition is done they don’t have to maintain anything or clean anything? The carpets were stained throughout the hotel and areas with stuck gum in it. The room which I had to switch to a half way “better”room than the previous because all the sheets that were supposed to be clean had someone’s dried on period blood on the sheets. Pure nasty, the second room given was no better then decided to take just a few pictures to show the condition. The place is dated, bugs crawl in the room, bathtub and shower stay on together so you get flooded while showering in our specific room, the walls are dirty the pullout has more stains than a homeless community, they allow noisy dogs to stay there, the pool is murky and floaters everywhere, the gym is the size of a closet with a non functioning bike and broken multi cable machine, the people who work there are lazy and non engaging, the breakfast is subpar and we would rather starve, eggs sitting in water, bacon and sausage barely cooked, basic breads and hospital juices, I could definitely go on and usually need don’t leave a review but please do NOT waste your hard earned hard to come by money on this place , if I wasn’t staying for a night I would have just went across the street.

The Cicero Grand completely failed to provide safe, comfortable, or sanitary accommodations during two separate stays booked for six travelers.
The first stay was on June 26 ($166.14). Despite booking explicitly for six guests, the hotel provided zero bedding for the pull-out couch. Upon further inspection, the pull-out mattress was severely singed and looked like it had been burned, presenting a major safety concern. The breakfast option was mediocre at best.
The second stay on July 2 ($151.70) was even worse. The room was physically dirty with visible food crumbs on the windowsill, a stained pillowcase with brown spots, and only two sets of towels for six registered guests. The pull-out bed in this room was completely broken with missing support springs, making it entirely unusable. When a single cot was provided as a replacement, it had no bedding. Front desk staff forced guests to come to the lobby to retrieve blankets and sheets, handing over an unfolded, unhygienic wad of linens.
Furthermore, the electrical outlets on the lamps were so loose that device chargers immediately fell out, which is a verified electrical fire hazard. The room quality was so poor that the Bible in the drawer consisted of just a single, torn-out, ripped-up page.
The Cicero Grand failed to provide a safe and functional room for a large group on two separate occasions. This property cannot be recommended due to gross service failures, poor cleanliness, and unaddressed maintenance hazards.

From the pool area to the actual room, it was clear there were very bad housekeeping and also safety issues. I reported the pool bathroom needed immediate cleaning (there was blood in three places on the floor, toilet paper holders were empty, and paper towels too) - more than 12 hours later it was still the same. There was some piece of electrical equipment plugged into an outlet in the pool area - perfect for anyone to stumble over and get electrocuted. The sofa bed in the room was dark and dingy, then when we removed the cushions to open up the bed it was clear the sheets had not been fresh - including finding children’s toys and old food remnants in there. We pulled the sofa away from the wall and found more junk underneath it. The towel hook in the bathroom wasn’t screwed in and fell to the floor. It was literally the worst I’d ever experienced in terms of filth. Because we had to use our towels for the pool (they were temporarily out of pool towers apparently), I had to pick up more towels from the front desk. The poor guy had to go fold them himself and bring them back. Definitely won’t recommend this place - there’s a very big management problem.

The room was dirty the bathtub still had soap on the side of it from the last time someone stayed here the pull out mattress had really nasty stains on it the floor in the bathroom had a lot of build up of dirt on the corners of the floor. The pool was nice. Breakfast didn’t have much just some eggs and bacon with bagels and muffins and a few juices. Not terrible for the price but definitely not one of the nicer ones within that price range.

Some of the staff was nice and friendly. But it was not a really good place to stay. We stayed 3 nights. One of the beds had a big dip in th3 matress. No one came to empty trash in the rooms. No housekeeping. My brothers room smelled and there were toys left on the desk with crumbs. They pulled the curtains open and there was a moldy Lunchable in the window sill. One of the beds had brown marks smeared on the sheets. We hoped it was just brownies. I asked for pool towels they only had 3 available and they looked pretty worn. There was no place to leave dirty pool towels.
I was happy to find decent prices on a hotel room and the pictures looked good. But now we know why the prices were low.

The air bnb we originally got was a chaotic mess. Booking this hotel was our only hope with finding a place to stay. When we walked into the hotel, it \"looked\" clean and ok. The staff did not even look at us when we walked in. We originally got an executive suite. Was supposed to have a separate bedroom with a pullout couch. The first room we got was very small and not like the pictures at all. The couch was stained, the pull out bed was falling through, the wall paper in the bathroom was peeling and yellow and there was not a separate room; There were no towels or extra blankets for the couch to be made. There were not any towels at all in the pool. It was not heated like advertised. The beds were ok. The carpet was not vacuumed. There were crumbs on the carpet. It didn't appear to be very well taken care of. The second hotel room we switched to was even worse. Same problems, when we went down to the front desk, he said it was going to be 100 dollars more, at this point of the night, we were exhausted and just wanted to sleep my boyfriend went down to the front desk and he gave us another room. The couch in this room appeared to be stained. There wernt towels any or blankets . For the two and a half days we stayed there, every time we asked for towels or blankets, they said they didn't have any or they were being washed, they never came in for housekeeping.breakfast sucked. We ended up staying in the room. I'll be calling Expedia and complaining.

I have stayed at this Hotel many times under Comfort Suites, it was amazing. Right now, they are going through changes, with exterior renovations and Hotel name change. So, the hotel is not like the past, they need to work in making sure that the rooms are cleaned and staff know what to do. I do look forward in staying here again once all the changes are done, hoping that the hotel will be like it was in the past.

If you want a quiet stay, this isn’t the place to go. People talking loud at midnight, two and four in the morning. We did call the front desk, but they enforced nothing. Had a bad experience 2 weeks ago with them giving someone keys to our room at two in the morning. They did take care of that so we decided to try again. Barely any sleep 2 of the 3 nights we were there. I guess you get what you pay for. We won’t be staying there again!

Right from the 3:00 pm check in point, the whole trip was a disaster. First no one is at the desk, you have to ring a bell and wait, then we were told our room wasn't ready, it would be another half hour, then there was no cart to bring our baggage in because there was only one and apparently someone had it in there room. When we got to our suite, the floors were dirty, the sofa bed had no mattress so was impossible to even sit on and when we started to pull it out, the dirt under the sofa had been collecting for at least 6 months to a year. The furniture was stained, there was no coffee maker without asking, one pillow had no pillow case, and none of the workers could answer a simple question without consulting someone else, although they were courteous. There's no information anywhere at the hotel to suggest area restaurants, so make sure you know where to go eat before you get there, and the hotel is very limited in selection of their \"hot breakfast included\". I definitely will not recommend this place to any family or my friends.

The first room i was given the ac was inoperable, thay was remedied by goijg back to the desk and getting another room. Did a 4 night stay for a fishing trip so our hotel needs and expectations were minimal, yet they still managed to disappoint. Bathrooms need remodeling to remove mold, no housekeeping or kitchen staff so only staff was front desk staff of one person. Breakfast was cold and coffee was water. They were out of several breakfast items on the 1st and last day and food was in the buffet servers without heat. Had to go to front desk to get towels every evening and they ran out on the last evening. Outside trash cans were overflowing the entire time. It seemed like the doors were open but management and hospitality service were not present. Plenty of other decent hotel options in the immediate area for anyone visiting. Consider this one as a last resort only.

After waiting a few minutes for anyone to appear at the front desk to check-in, I rng their bell and 2 people popped out from behind the wall. We had booked for 4 people in our room and had 2 bath towels. It seemed like there was a place for hairdryer, but it was missing. When I was asking the Front Desk for more towels, I also asked about the hair dryer (not a big deal for some, but I have long hair to my lower back. I really didn't want to go to bed with soaking wet hair, after checking in at nearly 9pm. The gentleman said some rooms don't have hair dryers or are missing them and he could check but if our room doesn't have one, there's not much he can do. Great, thanks....The shower...gross...it looked like there was mold on the corner shelves and on the vertical seams of the back wall. The toilet was loose....from the floor-it hit the wall when standing up. When we checked out at 6am, I had to ring the bell again and wait for someone to appear. The gentleman asked for our room number, said you're all set....no how was your stay, nothing.

Had to wait 30 minutes around midnight when I got in before anyone came to the front desk... and that was after calling them upwards to 20 times while standing in the lobby. Average hotel, it was clean and front desk people were amazing. Centrally located. Downfall which is why it’s a 1 star, went to work- came back and housekeeping cleaned my room and threw everything out clothes, medications, cosmetics ALL of my personal belongings. House keeping admitted to them they did throw half of it out but not the rest. Hotel manager said they would view the footage and call me with resolution, no phone call at all. I was giving them a chance before I did a review. No refund or anything. Our company uses this hotel a lot for business and will no longer due to these issues

Our room was clean but the pull out couch was old ripped and stained. The bedding they gave us for the pullout couch was also stained. Hard to put one of my kids there to sleep.
The staff were kind and helpful. I left something in the room and didn’t realize till we checked out. They were quick to help me get my forgotten items.
The breakfast was all carbs and left something to be desired.
Overall, I wouldn’t stay here again, it wasn’t worth the price we paid.

Good fisrt... staff was great and mostly kind. Beds are quite conformable! Affordavle and convienient. Small indoor pool for off season swimming was nice as well. I didnt eat breakfast but it smelled amazing and was available til 10 am. Easy quick checkins both stays. Now, the Bad...Workout room has 3 machines and a weight station. Only the weight station is usable the machine do not work. . Kids allowed to run through halls well after 11 pm. White sheets stained. My pillow case had a shoe print on it and other pillowcases had brown stains. Couches (I stayed in 2 rooms) both had Giant brown nasty stains covering half the couch. Black mold in corners on showers so gross. Room not swept, and dust covering the wooden shells in bathroom. NO COFFEE POT! Had to get room key replaced twice as it stopped working many time, also another guest doing the same thing. Employee said its been happening to many people everyday though they are new keys

The condition of this hotel was completely unacceptable and well below basic cleanliness standards. The room we were given appeared to have been “made,” but the sheets had clearly not been changed—there were crumbs, hair, and other debris throughout the bed. The floors were sticky, and the entire room had an unpleasant odor.

We were traveling with a group, and multiple rooms had the same issues, so requesting another room did not seem like a viable solution. Due to the overall condition, we requested a refund and left the property.

I would not recommend staying here until significant improvements are made to housekeeping and cleanliness.

Employee, Simone was excellent. Although working front desk, she personally to clean handicapped room. Room not ready at 3pm. Told us at least half hour and then more delay. Told us we could get a refund and go to another hotel. This was another management type personThere was only one luggage trolley to move our stuff and the wheels didn't work properly. We had to hand carrier our luggage from the third floor to elevator to elevator and the exit despite being handicap with mobility impairment. BUG inside the room near bed. Room needs
to be fumigated. I squashed the bug left it onon a tissue next to bed and took a photo
of it. There were piles of sheets and dirty laundry carts blocking the hallway on the third floor. I DID NOT sleep well because of noise in hallway. People were running up and down hallway banging on doors. Clearly there are deficits to overcome.

The room was filthy. Everything from pretzel pieces on the floor to dust on every surface, mold on the shower curtain. The bed sheets felt grainy inside. Huge smears on the floor and the tv. It was too late. I drove too far to head home. Finished my stay. Hotel is not as advertised. It has a new name, The Cicero Hotel- surprise! Breakfast at 7:45 had 3 bagels in the case, 3 muffins( pre-packaged and hard) and they were out of coffee. There were other selections but I was just done. No one at the desk. I dropped my keys and left. Also, hotel was very loud.

The desk wouldnt take my chime card for incidentals but allowed guest in front of me to tell them a card number without the physical card. There was on staff member at check in who was doing everything he was amazing and I felt so bad for him! The next morning there was nothing for breakfast, it was all empty at 8:15, there were no plates the staff member had to door dash some. There was dog poop in the lobby laying in a pile off junk that wasn’t here the whole time. The pool water was absolutly disgusting!! The staff however was amazing and tried their best! The staff were friendly, breakfast poor , cleanliness ok . But served our purpose but also very busy time with all the sporting events going on . They were booked. Arrived to no towels and condiments in room . Coffee situation was poor. For the amount that is charged poor but okay for the purpose.

Hi well this place was not as described! Pool was closed due to renovations ( so ok but should of been posted ) no luggage cart staff said it was stolen a while ago! We don't usually complain BUT morning breakfast ..no dairy we asked for milk for coffee ..staff said truck didn't show up, no cereal, fruit sorry but maybe staff should of said was under renos as well!

The biggest problem was that most of the towels and linens had hair on them of some sort. Hair that was not mine. The towels in the bathroom were still wet from the laundry service. The shower barely worked. What saved the stay was the morning staff that I had. She was very sweet and caring.

The room was clean. The bed was comfy. But the in room heater was not ok. It had. A peculiar smell when I turned it on. I can’t really describe it, but think old dust. We were awake watching tv when it turned on but it was not hot air/heat. It was ice cold. I double checked and the thermostat was set for 70, the thermometer read 68, (it had worked appropriately when I first turned it on, despite the smell).
I increased the temp settings but it continued to blow cold air. I will say the blower motor/fan works very well , it was very powerful. This happened on my second night there. I had only intended to stay 1 night but I was not feeling well, I booked an additional night online called the front desk to let them know I had payed online. The lady who answered wanted me to come down and pay the deposit for the second night. I told her I would when I got up, (checkout is 11am I had time to go back to sleep)
I knew I was not feeling well , but I truly did not expect to sleep until 4pm. I showered and went to lobby to pay the additional deposit around 5pm.

It was around 11pm the heater malfunctioned. After being sick all day

First of all felt really discriminated against when I walked in 2/13/26, booked a handicapped room due to most hotels having high tubs and with me having issues getting in those I booked a walk in shower, get there to check in and the lady begging desk looked up my reservation and excused herself so she could call someone due to me booking a room with a walk in shower “I didn’t need it” according to her. You pay $150-$250 for nothing ALONG with a $100 upon check in. No phone in the room, had an issue getting an extra blanket because 1 blanket can be used for 1 bed and a pull out somehow. The elastic on the sheets were so worn they didn’t stay on, had to keep fixing it every single morning. No shampoo/conditioner or even body wash and every hotel I have been to has something incase you forget your things. Bring hangers if you want to hang anything up in the closet. Don’t even get me started on the dirty floors. Absolutely disgusting. Does’t even look like the mirrors were cleaned. Pool is so green you can’t see the bottom. No coffee maker in the room BUT a whole closet full of them. The “hot water” in the lobby area is colder than the outside. You don’t actually check-out you throw the cards in a little bucket. Breakfast is come early you come late everything is either gone or cold. Juice at room temperature no milk eggs runny and sausage looked and tasted like it was microwaved for 5 mins. Only good thing about breakfast was the bagel. absolutely sucked, never coming here!!

Front desk staff were rude. The pool had a green tint to it and had too much chlorine. The room was covered in mystery stains and the light by the bed was not working. My son took a shower and 5 minutes later the bathroom was flooded. Breakfast was a joke, off brand cereal and mystery juice in carafes. The characters at breakfast looked like they were homeless put up by social services. Really disappointing for the price.
