1 out of 5 stars — Disappointing Stay at a Premium Price
We stayed at the Andaz Ottawa five nights and unfortunately cannot recommend it.

After arriving late due to flight delays, we found our room on a low floor — noisy, freezing (the heat didn’t work), and barely stocked with towels. The front desk promised fixes “tomorrow,” which set the tone for the entire stay.

The real low point came on night two: despite being moved to a higher floor after hours of back-and-forth with management, we returned the following evening to find our room completely uncleaned — unmade beds, soiled bathrooms, and dirty dishes exactly where we’d left them. When we called, staff casually explained they were “short-staffed” and couldn’t get to our room. We paid full price to sleep in a dirty room. That is simply not acceptable at any hotel, let alone at a Hyatt/Andaz hotel charging premium rates.

To his credit, the manager did offer to waive parking fees, but that gesture fell far short of acknowledging two nights of substandard conditions.

The last two nights were fine — room was cleaned, no issues. But the damage was done. A Hyatt hotel at this price point must have systems in place to ensure guests are never left in an uncleaned room without at least a proactive heads-up and a meaningful remedy. We won’t be returning.

This hotel was beautiful. Modern clean rooms. Great rooftop patio overlooking the city.
Very good lobby restaurant, smaller menu but good. The only issue we had was with our valet. We called it up for a certain time and it was 30 min behind. They did credit us that day of valet so it was appreciated. If it had a hot tub or sauna I would have rated it 5 stars. That was the only thing missing.

too noisy during the long weekend, I couldn’t get sleep till 3am. I will not choose this place again in any holiday. Maybe it is not that bad in regular working days.
Staff is always responsive and willing to help. There is no refrigerator in the room, I was told mini bat in the room is just a cooler and I can store food in restaurant refrigerator downstairs. It is not very convenient although it is working for me.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The room we were given was amazing with beautiful views across central Ottawa. The staff were also very friendly and attentive throughout our stay. A special thanks goes to the staff member who served us at breakfast. She was busy on her own, but gave wonderful service to everyone and was very efficient. The food was a la carte but at a very high standard. It was delicious especially the eggs benedict and banana bread.The reception staff were great too. The special welcome drink for every guest on the first night at the bar with views was very welcoming. The location is very central and easy to walk. Only negative i can say about the hotel is the front of it doesn't look like a hotel from the outside, but the inside is modern and well maintained.

Staff very nice, convenient and central location for many tourist attractions and shopping and great diverse food options (though neighbourhood a bit seedy), free wine with check-in, would stay again. Only issue was an admittedly special request of mine, they kept saying they put it in the notes but then no one seemed aware of it and we had to ask several times for it to be done

The first room I was in had a bug in the bed so I asked to change rooms, there wasn’t an apology or a sense of urgency by the front desk to inspect the issue. I was however changed to a different room, unfortunately this was on the back of the building facing the construction. I also noticed that the room was not cleaned during the stay which meant no water or coffee restocked in the room during my stay

First two nights there was no house keeping. I was told the hotel didn’t have enough linen to change the bedding and also they were short staffed. This was felt at check in, I wasn’t able to check in until 4pm which was incredibly frustrating as I needed the room to change for a conference. Check out is 11am so they had plenty of time to clean the rooms.

I got the impression they only had a couple of people working in house keeping.

The room was nice and spacious and breakfast was nice. Location was very central and good for amenities. Lots of homeless in Ottawa in general so wasn’t the nicest place to walk at night. We saw someone getting arrested outside the hotel door.

The week I stayed they were full to capacity. In four nights I only had one cleaner visit the room to change towels, empty bins and leave some more water and coffee - no bedding. My colleagues couldn’t check in for quite some time either as rooms weren’t ready. Despite this the rooms were clean and of a good size. Breakfast was excellent with super friendly staff - I wouldn’t be put off staying again but the stay could have been better.

The complimentary wine was terrible. Front Desk Isabelle saved the day by explaining that I needed to use Expedia to extend my stay. Previous front desk staff said there were no rooms at that price and I would need to check out and pay an additional charge to accept a different room. But there were no rooms? Huh

The hotel itself is well-maintained and clean. The room was spacious and had a nice layout. That said, the check-in was an awful experience. We were told our room wouldn't be ready for two hours, which was fine, and that we could valet our car (with no self-parking option). But there were only 4 parking spots outside the hotel to valet and one valet working, so he wasn't able to keep up with moving cars out of those spots. We had to wait 20 minutes just to be able to drop off our car, as the road outside was one-lane and didn't allow for double parking or leaving your car in any other way. When we went in to leave our bags at the desk, other guests were being checked in to their rooms and there was suddenly a room available for us as well. The entire check-in seemed utterly disorganized and we likely won't stay at this hotel again purely for how badly organized the parking situation is. If you don't have on-site self-parking then a hotel needs to have a way of handling more than 4 vehicles at a time.

Room was clean and very spacious. The staff are all pretty friendly, gave us a voucher for 2 glasses of wine for free which was unexpected but a really nice surprise! Gave us a chance to check out the rooftop bar. The room is so quiet, you can’t even tell you’re in the Byward market so we really enjoyed that. Valet was easy and really convenient as I didn’t have to worry about parking downtown. Close walk to everything. Would definitely stay again!!

We stayed at Andaz for a date night. The hotel was very clean. The staff were very kind and helpful. The cleaning service manager specifically was outstanding. The first room we got had some sort of wet stuff on the bed and she changed us rooms and changed us to a higher floor with an even nicer view. She was extremely professional and courteous.

This hotel is very chic and the location is A1 ! We will definitely be back

My boyfriend loved the view but that’s really all you’re paying for. The bed is not super comfortable and the pillows are flat as hell. The water takes ages to heat up for a shower. The room tends to be cold due to the windows and also takes time to heat up. There’s a fair bit of noise from below - you’ll be hearing a lot of music, beeping and yelling now that it’s spring. Location is great for food but there are a lot of drug-users and homeless in the area if that’s a concern for you. Maybe I’m just hard to impress but it was just ok for me.

Excellent place due to cleanliness, friendliness of staff, and proximity / walking to Parliament buildings and Byward market which we love to frequent for breakfast and meals. Parking is a bit of a pain (no parking onsite), but valet parking is available. We have found that is is MUCH cheaper and just as easy to park our vehicle ourselves in the parking garage a 5-7 min. walk away.

The hotel is in a great location next to the Byward market. The hotel appears a little more high end in the website but the property has definitely aged. Within my suite there were a lot of minor damages. I couldn’t get the tap water to a warm temperature. It was either very hot or super cold. The heating and cooling didn’t work initially but the team took care of it once reported. The water bottles provided could have been a high end water. The hotel lacked amenities. The lobby is extremely small, there was no welcome beverage or offer to have my bags brought to my room.

Le chauffage ne fonctionnait pas bien, on pouvait l'augmenter mais ca ne réchauffait pas plus qu'à 21 degré. La salle de bain, toute de céramique, n'était pas chauffée non plus, c'était très froid. L'eau chaude était aussi très longue avant d'arrivée. A la 2e journée, nous avons fait venir le technicien pour réussir à améliorer la situation. Nous avons demandé une couverture chaude à la 3e journée pour réussir à mieux dormir. Nous avons profité de la présence du technicien pour réussir à avoir Netflix tel qu'offert. Mais malgré qu'il ait été sur place plus de 30 minutes, rien ne s'est vraiment amélioré. Il nous a offert de remplacer le chrome-cast, mais nous étions crevé, nous avons donc refusé.

Oh where to begin. The first morning my coffee maker didn't work. Someone came up to replace it and the second one didn't work. He brought the third one, a different kind, and because he spoke no english, although he was a lovely gentleman, he couldn't explain how to use it. I finally got it to work on the second morning, although it wasn't very good. On my last full day, I came back after a long emotional event and asked whether there would be any food available for dinner because the dining room was closed. I was told the roof top bar would have some appies. They didn't - only chips and dip or nuts or pretzels. They had no idea that the front of house staff had said they would have food. So I had chips and dip for dinner. I really didn't want to leave the hotel. Not very impressed at all! The room was large and lovely, though. And the staff was good. But I would never stay there again!
