A little bit of an older hotel, but very nice regardless. Location was amazing. Rooms were big. If parking is full, they have very reasonable alternatives nearby. Depending on when you go, parking at these alternatives are extremely cheap!

Pros:
* Location, you're half a block from a street full of restaurants, parks, and pubs. We walked the 2km to the War Museum, and you can also easily get around.

* Sam at the front desk was great. She basically saved the review of this hotel. And the servers at Coopers (breakfast) were also very lovely

Cons:
* The whole vibe is that the landlord needed to slap paint on the space before the new renter comes in. Everything is just that little bit grubby (and literally they painted over dust).
* The room was big, but the bathroom (which should accommodate 4 people) is basically a powder room with a plastic shower attached. There weren't enough towels (presumably b/c there weren't enough spaces to put your towel) and the door didn't fully close or lock.
* There was construction on the floor above us, the price was not reflected in having to hear banging before 8am on the Saturday of a long weekend (nor were we warned).
Neutral:
* They ran out of onsite parking (were not the least bit sorry) but silver lining, if you are there on a weekend, park at the nearby city hall, cost was $12 for two days

I wouldn't stay there again, but if you can get a deal it's not terrible - or certainly ask for a room on floor 8+ as that is where the renovations are happening (May 2026)

Au resto de l'hotel tres bon dejeuner dégusté sur place. Personnel a l'écoute de nos besoins. Le seul hic le chauffage a ête arrêté co.pte tenu de la date 8 mai, sauf qu'il faisait froid. Le personnel nous a offert une mini chaufferette d'appoint, que j'ai décliné ayant deja eu mauvaise expérience ave de type d'appareil.

The room was not very clean for a hotel of this price. One area of the carpet was wet, not sure whether it was from a pipe leaking in the floor or something similar. It was 1 °C outside that night, and the room had no heating. The bed had a light comforter, and additional blankets were nowhere to be seen. Overall, very disappointing experience.

Booked two rooms here, super clean but one of the room's sinks seemed to only give boiling hot water. Bachelors was super nice with a stocked kitchen area and pots. Big rooms and nice balconies. Parking at the back of hotel is small

Stayed for a night, was a little hesitant due to the bad reviews. However, everything was perfect. Rooms were clean, modernized and spacious. Our room had a whole kitchen with everything you would need including a full size fridge. We stopped by early to see if we could park the vehicle on the available onsite parking and we were informed our room was ready and we could check in about 3 hours earlier than expected. Close to everything, including grocery store, restaurants, and tourist attractions. Would definitely stay again!

Underground parking is limited

Avoid this place! The staff are lovely but the hotel is old, not particularly clean, and just feels shabby and depressing. Awful bed. Weird smell and no proper in room air con. Terrible loud hum. Just go somewhere else.

Construction happening in hotel and the elevators were severely delayed (up to 5min). The elevators and areas were dusty with construction traffic. The beds were fine, but carpets worn. The bathroom had a strange pocket door and latch, which was not ideal.

We were excited to stay here as the location and price were good. Started off ok though we had to return for the check in as we were too early. The first night we froze as they had no heat and the blanket for the sofa bed was thin as a wafer. There was a terrible nose in the bedroom that lasted all day and night. Apparently it is a known problem though they do nothing to address it. I complained to the concierge who asked the manager if we could switch rooms. The manager said no even though they has an available room for a least one of the two nights. All the rooms ending in 15 are affected, so ensure you’re not in one prior to paying for the room! The noise from the hallways carry into the room and we were awakened by noisy drunk guest coming in late.

I do not think this hotel is worth the price. The rooms are run down and cleanliness could be improved. There was hair in the bathroom sink and shower. The walls are quite thin and you can hear other people in their room or hallways. Balconies are poorly kept and crumbling in some areas.
The bed is comfortable and staff were kind and helpful.

My husband and I were really disappointed with our 2 night stay in Ottawa Embassy Hotel. The check in and out was fast and well managed. The room looked clean and vast.
The first problem started when we found out that there is no AC in the room! The AC controller on the wall was not even real. We asked the customer service and they explained that the AC is unfortunately central and because we are between 2 seasons the AC is still not running! So we had to keep our room window open at all time to change the stuffy air inside the room.
Problem number 2 was that the fridge was absolutely empty! Not even some water bottles!! That was very surprising for me since I thought this is the basic of all hotel rooms that have a mini fridge and free water bottles available for guests!
Also there was no safe box available in the room which was also a big disappointment to us! We had to carry our valuables with us every time we were leaving the hotel! That was ridiculous! I have never been into a hotel with no safe box in the room!
The bed looked nice and clean but the pillows were high and the mattress was so uncomfortable that we couldn’t even get a good rest at night!
The shower was very small and my husband who is 6.1ft couldn’t take a shower without hitting his elbows to the shampoo bottles on the wall and his head to the shower head!
All said we won’t recommend this hotel to anyone. The building is very old. I was happy that the elevators were running!

The hotel is generally good — well located, clean, with all necessary amenities, etc. — but on my recent trip I was placed in a room (615) with a noisy ventilation system that kept me up most of the night. It was so bad in the bedroom at 2am that I moved to sleep on the couch. The next morning there was construction hammering, etc. in the building that began before 7am. I spoke with the reception but was not offered an apology or (even partial) reimbursement. I would suggest checking about these conditions before visiting.

Loved the location. Also loved that it felt like a 1 bedroom apartment. I was able to buy groceries and make meals in the kitchen.

Common rooms were not clean. Both beds in my room has soiled or hair covered sheets and the dishes had leftover food on them. When k informed front desk I was told there was no housekeeping after 4 and I’d have to change the sheets myself. No apology or accommodation was made until I insisted and they sent a maintenance person up to make the beds.

This was an hotel where the staff on duty yesterday was very mean and lacking in empathy to me and my children. He adamantly refused to offer a solution to the problem of credit card being declined for refundable deposit even after booking had been paid for beforehand but rather called the police on me. He refused every alternate arrangement proferred too and left us sitting in the lobby for several hours. Thank God for the wonderful police that helped us secure an alternate accommodation in the middle of the night. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone at all because they are just very rigid in their dealings.

Helpful staff. We love this hotel , only a block from the canal , where we stay for skating holidays. Having a kitchen where we can make our own meals is a big plus. Convenient underground parking. Walking distance to neighborhood grocery stores and also the centre of Ottawa.

We stayed for three nights over Winterlude. While dated, the room was sufficient for our needs. The kids (age 7 and 9) shared the pull out couch and were comfortable enough. The bed was comfortable and had plenty of pillows. The sheets were basic (our flat sheet had a hole in it) but did the job.

The bathroom was more modern and came with shampoo, bodywash, conditioner, and a bar of soap. No body lotion, which would have been nice in the cold dry air.

The kitchen was convenient for us and had all the basics as well. The room itself was very warm -- we slept with the balcony door open.

The staff were courteous and did the best they could to address our questions. TV didn't work on arrival and there was no maintenance person working on Sunday, but someone came on Monday to fix it.

Location-wise, we could not have asked for a better spot. City Hall was just a stone's throw away. We were a few minutes' walk away from Confederation Park and the Winterlude shuttle buses. We parked our car at City Hall from Saturday to Tuesday and did not need it once.

Overall, we had a nice stay. Even ordered from Cooper's (the on site restaurant) on our last night. They were out of chicken wings, but the poutine was decent. All in all, I would consider returning here for a future stay.

The staff were courteous and helpful, particularly the young man at the desk on the evening we checked in -- and the young Cooper's server we met at breakfast today. The beds were very comfortable! The rooms were fairly clean, but I wish there had been a ventilation fan in the bathroom and a wider selection of TV channels -- such as PBS and CNN. Also, I'd appreciate receiving some sort of confirmation that the $150 deposit (that I paid upon my arrival) was refunded to my VISA account, as I did NOT incur any additional charges during my one-night stay. Thanks.

When we got there they made us put down $150 fee in case we messed up the room. This was a birthday gift and I didn’t have a credit card so my partner had to pay for it. We get to the room and it’s run down, not super updated. There was a crack in one of the walls that made it look like it wasn’t super supported. For the amount I paid for it I would expect free breakfast but they didn’t have one, it came with a restaurant on site that was expensive. They don’t have free parking and just in general the space feels like a bad hotel trying to be masked with slightly fancy things. You can tell that they only clean high touch places because the walls had food and random liquids on them from past stays and the entire room was just dusty. The sheets were scratchy and uncomfortable, all and all it just wasn’t a great stay. I also had an allergic reaction and ended up spending most of my time in the er and not in the hotel room. They refused to refund or at least reduce the cost of my stay despite proof and I didn’t even finish out the last night of my stay there because I thought it was something in the room I was allergic to (something I’m trying to actively figure out). There are many nicer hotels around, I’d choose one of those. I don’t like this place and will never set foot in it again.

Great location for a quick 20 hr stop in Ottawa. Walking distance to confederation park and parliament hill. Steps to Rideau canal access points for skating. Onsite parking very limited. Nearby lot is very expensive. But staff are lovely and will direct you to other nearby lots as well.
