First time at a fairmont and underwhelming for the cost of the room. Paid extra for a view of parliament and got a tiny window. Room was fairly basic as well, nothing that a standard Hilton or Sheraton wouldn’t have.

The lobby bar and restaurant was nice. Food and ambiance were good

Check in was appalling. Took 2 hours to get our bags to our room - they'd been delivered to another room. No real apology for that, to boot!
Room was tired - patched wall paper, chips in furniture, stained bath enamel (really the bathroom needed a full refurb);
We had a room with a view over the canal and towards the Parliament (room 404) but the windows were filthy.
We didn't eat at the restaurant \"Zoe\" because the reviews were bad, but there are plenty of fine dining restaurants nearby.
Checkout was swift and friendly. House keeping staff were excellent.
This is a poor Fairmont, trading on the Fairmont name but failing to deliver Fairmont standards that we'd enjoyed at other Fairmont Hotels - eg Seattle, Boston, St Andrews etc. Very disappointing.

Location can’t be beat, iconic and majestic views. Very fairly priced per night, however, logistically valet is a nightmare, takes forever to get car parked and retrieved, and service is truly lacking. Made a reservation for Zoe’s for lunch and table took 20 minutes to be ready, only for it to be for afternoon tea even though I explicitly stated we were there for regular lunch, and then the lunch itself took well over an hour to get served, with the waiter asking if I wanted it to be discounted (which I declined). The regular tours and unending events (weddings) don’t make this a restful stay. Just be aware of what you’re getting yourselves into!

Overall, I have appreciated my stay. I got an upgrade to a bigger room with a view. I found the gym a bit outdated, but it was open 24 hours, and I enjoyed a few workouts during my visit. For the room itself, I particularly liked the walk-in closet and windows. The neighbours were noisy. With ear plugs, I was able to sleep.

Fully respect the hotel is old and iconic but the interior is very tired. Amenities for the nightly rate is basic at best. Food and beverage underwhelming and certainly didn't align with high prices. We had to wait at least an hour or more for food service in Zoe restaurant and in room dining. We were very surprised on how hotel is being managed as this is an Accor property and Fairmont brand. Toronto's Royal York is far superior. Also, long waits for reception & valet services.

Such a pleasure to stay in this historic hotel right in the middle of the city. We had a very comfortable room on the 5th floor, but it showed its age a little . Same for the common areas. Overall an excellent stay thanks in large part to very friendly staff.

Historic hotel and near everything you need. Room was in such bad condition the hotel refunded the valet parking and half my stay. Exterior window frame so broken you couldn’t close the window, bed linens made up with badly stained duvet, pen scribbles on the walls, bathroom was dirty with vent so clogged with dirt it didn’t work…left with a written apology from the hotel. At $500+ a night it should have been much nicer…

Staff were lovely and helpful. Zoe’s breakfast was ok.

Parking was frustrating - valet was $70 a night

If I’d have been in the city more those two days I’d have found a better place.

If you go here, get a full suite or don’t bother. The chain hotels at a mid price point as just as good.

The grandeur of the hotel and friendliness of the staff are something everyone should experience once when travelling. Every employee we encountered, whether at the valet, the reception, in the elevator, hallways or restaurant greeted us with a smile, hello and genuine interest. A room checker, completely unprompted, offered us water in the hallway on our way out in the morning. The wait staff in the bar were extremely knowledgeable and took their time explaining the offerings to ensure we ordered the right cocktail for our persona taste.
The only drawback was the comfort of the mattress in our room. It may be because our room hadn’t yet been renovated, but it was far too soft and almost felt like a foam mattress. Some floors have recently been renovated, and for a fee, we could have ungraded.
Overall, it was a very memorable experience.

Our room at The Fairmont Chateau Laurier was very disappointing. We chose a view of the Parliament Building .... if you sat in the one shabby chair in the corner, close to the window or leaned forward on the windowsill you could see it. The bathroom was so tiny that you had to almost straddle the toilet to use the wash hand basin. We are regular sized humans. The drinking glasses were stored on a shelf, at toilet bowl level, 12.5 inches from the front of the toilet bowl { yes I measured it!}. The unit holding the kettle and coffee maker had both placed at knee level: the side that had been the bar fridge had no shelves and needed a good clean imo. The sound insulation was appalling. We could hear both sides of a business conversation in the room next door { and the gentleman was using a perfectly ordinary level of speech}. On the second morning the cleaners { contract apparently} cleaning around the front door with a power washing or blower were so loud at 6.30 am that we got up and left for home. On the upside, the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable.

We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely old castle, we thought it was beautiful and the whole building has so much character. It’s conveniently located downtown and everything was within walking distance. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was because the fire alarm went off at 4am, and they started evacuating, but ended up being a false alarm. Obviously not the hotels fault but not how you want to be woken at 4am!

Great location - nice rooms. I don’t understand why the pool temperature is set so low - it was almost unusable and it had a direct impact on how we viewed/enjoyed the hotel.
Parking cost is ridiculous- we parked at city hall for 1/4 of the overall price

Fantastic location. Amazing property. Hallways are long and elevators are centralized, so if you plan to go in and out a lot and are on a schedule you might want to ask for a room assignment near the elevator (or just a lower floor).

One high high standards when one stays at the Chateau, so when the hand shower doesn’t work properly, the mini fridge is dirty and not working, one has to go 2 floors down for ice it isn’t good. Staff were very nice though and nice large rooms.

The staff was great but other than the historical relevance, I found the Hotel underwhelming and the price point unjustified.

I found a lack of respect for maintenance. Public bathroom smelled of urine. The lock on the stall door was broken and replaced with a cheap slide lock. I would have expected a higher level of concern for maintaining the integrity of the property.

I’ve stayed in nicer hotels, with more amenities, exceptional service and a “Wow factor” that was missing from here.

Just basically felt like the most impressive part, was the history and the rest was left

The deluxe double room was spacious and clean. The second washroom was very helpful. Great view of the Ottawa River and Quebec. Location is convenient, walking distance to Parliament, By-Ward Market, other restaurants and museums, and Quebec. However the thermostat was hard to use. Overall, great stay and I would stay again.

The staff was wonderful, and I appreciated their professionalism and kindness. The room itself was spacious and comfortable.

However, I encountered several issues during my stay. The shower was dripping throughout the night, which was quite disruptive. I also could not find any power outlets near the bed to charge my phone. As a result, I had to use a plug near the window, placing my charger on the radiator, which unfortunately damaged and demagnetized my Apple Watch charger.

Additionally, I was very disappointed with a booking issue. I mistakenly reserved a room at the Château Laurier in Quebec City instead of Ottawa. Unfortunately, neither Expedia nor the Quebec City hotel was able to transfer the reservation. I had to book another stay in Ottawa and lost the money from the original reservation.

Given these inconveniences, I would appreciate it if you could review my situation and consider a gesture of goodwill

Very disappointed with our stay. The first room we were given appeared to be an old storage area that they stuffed a bed in. The staff were great and upgraded us to a larger room. The temperature was way too warm for sleeping and the thermostat seemed to have no impact. It took a good 10 minutes for water to come out warm from the taps. According to the valet parking online app, it takes 45 minutes to get your car but they do not tell you that when you park or in the ticket. As with many Fairmont hotels you pay a premium for history and beautiful common spaces but the rooms do not receive enough investment.
Normally a great location, protests on Wellington close the streets near the hotel to traffic which can have an impact.
The staff were wonderful.

This is a city central location and parking for the hotel, during very busy dates, is valet only, be prepared but it's totally worth every penny.
Everything is opulent and marvelous. Clean, precise and well managed but the staff, front desk to maid services are all smile, happy, and friendly.
We are frequent to this hotel and its many locations; all are amazing to stay and enjoy.

Absolutely beautiful place to stay, room was very clean, lots to see and the dining/food was fabulous. A few items to note: front desk check-in was a bit slow (especially for bring pre-booked), breakfast is not complimentary and fairly expensive. We chose to eat breakfast elsewhere (but had a really top-notch meal in the hotel the evening before). The phone chargers and both reading lamps in the room were not functional. All in all would highly recommend for the experience, beauty, and excellent location for nearby amenities (Parliament tours, Rideau Centre mall and parking, the Byward Market and an endless choice of restaurants.
