Extreme safety concerns!

Not just the all the rooms have NO AC but also NO fans in the bathroom or the room.
I had a room on the 10th floor and windows obviously can’t be opened. But how come the Hotel is still accepting guests if there’s NO ventilation!! The fans (air circulation!) is NOT working. For the whole entire stay my room wasn’t cleaned once.

Parking was an issue but I had a great stay at this hotel. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, and the staff were friendly and always ready to help. The location was convenient, with easy access to nearby shops and transport. Overall, it offered good value for money, and I would definitely stay here again.

Staff excellent. But room like a greenhouse. Extremely warm. No windows that open and no Aircon. The blackout curtains leaked light around the edges. Sleeping was very difficult due to heat, lack of air, hard pillows and sunlight. Looks like the hotel is in process of being knocked down. The hotel had supplied fan but can not recommend this place.

Rooms disgusting, sink dirty, tissue paper still on toilet not flushed. Dirty staircase, blinds absolutely stinking, no air con or way to open windows, had small fan in room but done absolutely nothing with the heat we had recently. Had to ring number on reception for staff to come and check us in. Lady came through to check us in, texting on her phone barely even acknowledged anyone, felt quite uncomfortable and dismissive

PROS: The room was large and clean, the bed and pillows firm and comfortable, the bathroom clean and functional.

CONS: 1) The room was like an oven. I stayed at the end of May, after the heatwave had ended and the heat hit me as soon as I entered the room. There is a large fan supplied, but it simply blew around hot air. No windows could be opened, even just a small crack, There is no air conditioning. The towel rail was throwing out heat in the bathroom. It was extremely uncomfortable. 2) The listing claims the rooms are soundproofed. Then why could I hear the shouting, screeching and raucous laughter coming from the adjoining room through my bathroom wall? 3) The windows have some strange film applied to the exterior, meaning there is no view from any window which, combined with not being able to open the windows at all, made the room feel very claustrophobic. To make matters worse, the film was clearly peeling giving the exterior a very tatty feel.

This hotel is bordering on the line of uninhabitable. On our arrival the weather was hot, we were given a room on the 10th floor, when we got there the door to our room was wide open and not locked. The room was around 40 degrees and I would argue unsave to be in for any prolonged period of time. The windows could not be opened, there was no air conditioning and the fan in the room didnt work. The bathroom was even hotter, with large windows with no curtains, making it basically an oven. When we approached reception and ask for a room on a lower floor (even said a downgrade would be fine) we were told they were fully booked. They were quick to change that answer when I pointed out the multyple rooms avalible for booking online for that night. We were given a room on the 3rd floor, the room was far cooler, however the bathroom had a radiator that couldent be turned off (great in a heat wave). Also the curtains were to small for the windows meaning regardless we couldnet get full privacy. Finally the entire hotel is aged and disgusting, my advice to everyone would be to just pay an extra £20pp for literally any other place in cardiff. Actually just sleep in your car, itll be better quality.

We have stayed a few times now, the staff are always lovely and welcoming, and always make sure you have everything you need, the rooms can get abit hot but they came up and gave us a fan witch was a bonus, great location in the heart of Cardiff, lovely comfy beds, big rooms, and great views of the city itself, will always return to this hotel! Not one single issue, amazing price range to.

I came to stay with my family and ended up leaving after 40 minutes. The room was horrendously hot, no ventilation, the curtains were half missing and the one that was there was burnt. Will never ever return. The staff were helpful but could not remedy the issues of the room.

Shower was scolding hot or freezing cold - no in between. Lights did not work. General presentation of hotel and room was very poor for the price. For the price we paid, this hotel was seriously lacking. The bathroom had a damaged door, no shower curtain and no mirror light even. Talking of light, there were no side lamps by the bed which we found very odd. The bathroom light didnt even work. The lift felt like you were risking an entrapment every time you ventured in.
Would not recommend and would not book again.

Room initially hot and stuffy but improved as night went on. Curtains did not fully cover windows, allowing sunshine in early morning. However, reception staff incredibly friendly and attentive.

As two young girls who booked this we didn’t spend one night here and ended up booking another hotel as an emergency. There’s no parking on site even though it says there is. You have to pay £30 a night at a different car park. The key cards are kept in a paper box labeled ‘key cards’ on the desk. The lift was crashing and scraping the whole way up and the hotel is not as advertised online. I have requested my money back but the hotel is not responding to Expedia.

Do not book Cardiff Bute Terrace Hotel By Belvilla.

This is the worst hotel experience I have ever had. The listing is completely misleading and the photos are nothing like what I arrived to. I honestly cannot believe third-party sites are still taking bookings for this place.

The building was filthy and was unsafe. Windows were smashed and the communal areas were disgusting. Rats are freely running around the communal areas the building. There appeared to be drug use in the hallways. There are no circumstances I would have stayed here.

The advertised parking did not exist. The contact numbers online did not work. I called them again while standing inside the hotel in front of staff, and they still did not work.

I asked to speak to a manager and was refused. Staff initially refused to give their names. One receptionist eventually gave the name Meena, and I was told Gio/Geo Johnson would contact me. That went nowhere.

When I asked Meena if she would stay there herself, she laughed, shook her head and said no. That says everything.

We left immediately and had to pay for another hotel. They have since refused the refund and are avoiding Hotels.com, blocking all contact.

This place should not be listed. Avoid.

It's perfectly fine. Guy on reception when I checked in was friendly but the process was a bit slow and you need a code to get into your room rather than just tapping a card which is annoying. Pretty central which is good. Quite noisy in the morning due to trains. Room was surprisingly big given the price.

The annoything was the bed. Claimed to be a doube was 2 single mattresses joined together. Was also not long enough.

The room was clean. The air conditioner didn’t work, and being on the 10th floor, it would get a bit warm during the day. The windows didn’t open, so no fresh air. As I was leaving to checkout, the door handle came off. The doors had smart locks and you had to help the door close in order for the lock to engage.

It is a cheap hotel. Cheap in every way. A horrible, seedy, dirty, uncared for flea pit. There are no amenities, no bar, no restaurant, not even a vending machine. The internet is touch and go. There is virtually no cold water and the hot is boiling hot, so showering is almost impossible. The rooms are stuffy and airless, the furnishings are broken, old, scratched, stained and greasy, the television was angled to face the window making viewing difficult, and the remote was broken beyond repair or use, the windows are layered with dirt and filth, the lights don’t work, several of the plug sockets didn’t work, the lift feels unsafe and many of the other guests seem to be there to carry out their illegal activities in drug dealing or prostitution. The whole place stank of marijuana. Strangers will try to get into your room in the dead of night and the electronic lock system on the doors continually breaks. The staff don’t care about anything and are in complete agreement with you when you put it to them that the place is a muck hole. The best thing they could do with this place is knock it down. It was a terrible mistake staying here and I couldn’t get out fast enough. Pay more, stay anywhere else. A shop doorway would be nicer, a homeless man I met on coming out said to me ‘it’s horrible that place ain’t it. ‘ I couldn’t agree with him more.

Yes it’s a budget hotel, but was not expecting what we turned up too. Looks nothing like photos advertised. It’s a building site! Asked if we could see the room before we checked in, the receptionist said no. We walked in and walked out. Went and stayed 5 minutes away for the same price I paid for this hotel. No refund given. Would NOT recommend. Stay away!

Hotel falsely advertised and awful communication, we booked to stay for 2 nights, on arrival the on site car park was shut, we entered reception to find no one there, all we could hear was people shouting at each other and the place was dirty, as a couple we felt very unsafe about staying here and had no choice but to find somewhere else to stay.
Since returning home hotel.com agents have been trying to contact this hotel on our behalf via phone and email to get us a refund but the phone lines are always busy and there is no reply via email!! Very poor.

We couldn’t find the hotel no signs, it looked like an empty building from outside, we had to park 20 minutes away. First room toilet didn’t work, we were given another room, not very clean, fixtures old rusty, windows awful, no ventilation or fans. We booked 2 twin rooms but they said we only booked one, was talking with Expedia for at least 45 minutes to try and sort everything out, then they could only give us a double and twin as they were full, but they gave us another twin when the first one couldn’t be used, the front desk kept lying. So! tried not to let it ruin the stay, but they made it stressful.

Do not stay here. Horrible bodily odour smell in reception and lifts. Lobby area and rooms do not look anything like the photos on the site. The TV didn’t work, no bedside tables.. no lamps, no waste bin. Bed uncomfortable. HORRIBLE.

Hotel taken over by new ownership since booking made. Major construction work going on outside. Car park a building site. Hotel looks like it couldn't possibly be open from the outside! Some rooms unbearably hot due to sun shining through windows that don't open. Rooms clean but paint/plaster dried onto floors/surfaces and TV screen. No soap, shampoo gel or rubbish bin. The only good things were the polite receptionist and convenient location to the utilita arena (main reason for booking). We wouldn't stay here again.

Sadly this hotel is not value for money. They advertised a breakfast option but it was shut, pictures of tea and coffee in the rooms but none was in there. The hotel is a literally a building site. Builders coming in and out. Felt like I was intruding on their work. Kept being awaken by heavy doors slamming every hour by people and staff coming in and out. There was a brown mark on the bath and paint dust on the floor. The outside didn’t seem very welcoming by the sight of rubbish and dirty tissues on the floor. To be honest I left a day early because I couldn’t be there anymore. Constant problems with the door to the room not working, had to get the keycard fixed at least 5 times. Will I get any of my money back? The only thing that was good was the receptionist she was so polite and helpful to me and my girlfriend. Any problems she would always help. So until this place shuts down and gets things sorted I won’t be coming back here. It’s needs to be shut so all the problems can get fixed and addressed then people will start coming back and start trusting this hotel.

The toilet was not cleaned ,dust on the headboard where you write your name in it. Television did not work,tea stains on window ceil, no kettle in the room.definetley will not be going back. The hotel was impossible to find. There was no signage, blacked out windows and the neighbouring building had white washed windows that looked closed up. On the other side of the entrance had gates closed up with a padlock and chain with a sign saying academy. It really looked like a disused building! We drove around trying to find a car park that doesn’t exist, despite the email the day before our stay giving us parking instructions. We had to pay £30 parking at a nearby car park and walk. We booked a room with a view but the windows had a film blocking out any view. There was no soap in the room! No kettle apart from a drink station down in the lobby, which had cold water in the urn and no cups. Later in the evening a different member of staff told us of a free parking elsewhere but when we asked when we checked in, they didn’t help us. No bedside tables, very basic. We booked a twin but had to separate the beds ourselves.The mattress was full of craters where there were large dips. Booked a deluxe room but it seems that they are all just standard which we paid extra for. Not like the photos. Room was hot, unable to open windows. Only 1 pillow each and no spares. Key cards kept failing to work even though a conscious effort was made to keep it away from our phones. Seemed to have some recent decor updates but very basic and plain. Doors are very loud and bang shut so very hard to get any sleep. Great location for the arena but otherwise needs a lot of sorting Except refund!

We had a disappointing experience during our stay.

The bathroom was not properly cleaned, with dirty towels left behind.

Parking was advertised as available for £12, but it was actually under renovation. We were not informed of this in advance.

There were no proper payment options on arrival. The only way to pay was via email or text, which was not possible due to poor signal and no internet access. This should have been communicated beforehand so we could have paid in advance.

The staff were unhelpful and rude. We arrived a few hours early and were told to leave and return at 4pm, despite the website stating check-in is at 3pm.

Overall, the lack of communication and poor service made the stay frustrating - not worth the price paid at all.

Worn down, poor staff.

Started stay in room 1008, couldn't remember if I booked breakfast - I was told no. First night fine in a worn down, decaying room but slept well. In the morning shower floods within minutes, advise reception they need to send someone to fix and provide fresh towels. Return to find shower is filthy, damp towels have been left all day and no new towels to replace them. Another trip to reception and offer me a complimentory breakfast. They who move me to room 1007, stains all over floor(suspicious brown colour), damaged plug sockets with cracks in and just in general poor state. Next morning upon checkout I get my invoice which included breakfast!! I know I forgot but they told me I didn't have it, and then offered it as compensation. All
In all you get what you pay for but this place was disgusting!

Check in was fast, easy and staff were great. I was on the 10th floor and the lift was so slow. Theres a faint smokey odour on the floor and it lingered in my room for a bit. You can see theyve tried to tidy the place up, new paint, new bathroom and plug sockets with usbs but it still felt quite tired. You could feel the king size bed was just 2 bed pushed together and i couldn't find the tv remote. One side the windows were grayed out so you couldn't see out and none of the windows were openable. They put a fan and 2 heaters in the room so i would guess the temperature varies a lot in there. The breakfast was ok, very basic. There was sausages, bacon, scrambled egg and beans as the hot option.
For a budget hotel it was fine. But i wish id paid the extra £20 and stayed at a different hotel!

Stayed twice in 3 days. 408 and then 508. Dated room in 408 but warm and tv you could actually watch. 508 had no heating. Extra heater in the room also didn’t work. Tv in a corner where it couldn’t really be watched.

Cardiff Half Marathon weekend.

Stayed for couple nights as a base to explore Cardiff.

Conveniently close to the city centre, bus and trains stops to explore the other parts of the city.

The hotel facilities are run down including the rooms. Carpets are a bit dirty.
Stayed in 2 different bedrooms, they were both run down. One in a lower level, a bit outdated, namely parts of the walls and furniture. Also despite having big windows and plenty of light coming in, the windows don't open not allowing fresh air in and getting stuck with the stuffy air.

The air in the corridors is even more stuffy, it seems its either lacking proper ventilation or it is turned off.

The room in the top floor had signs of modernization but still worn down. Air was not as stuffy in the upper floors.

The property shows its age and in need of an overdue overall. Perhaps that's the reason prices are lower compared to other 3* hotels.

The hotel has charged me £150 automatically from my account saying the room had some cigarettes buds which I was smoking outside and put it in a bottle . Since I had no place to put the rubbish I brought it inside and left in room bin . They stole £150 from my account without my knowledge or consent. I really need my money back . Room cost per night was £61 and then charged extra £150 . I have no intention to pay that and I am loyal customer of hotels.com and I really need your help to get my money back

Great Location

I loved the location, it was a short walk to all of the city center, dining, and the castle. The room was okay, plain, no AC but they did have fans. Beds were hard as a rock and I had trouble sleeping. There also did not appear to be housekeeping service, at least we did not get any, though I did see someone making up a room but assumed they only clean between guests. Hotels.com stated by booking was paid and I was all set, but the hotel told me it wasn’t paid and I had to pay then. It was a good stay otherwise.

Room stank of cigarettes even though non smoking. Overnight, the smoking smell increased particularly in the bathroom and the window didn’t open. Show and bath well past use date looked more like a bed sit quality. Wc moved. Needs immediate attention as not good

Staff were lovely. Room was clean but very basic although said deluxe, no bedside lights. Room was very hot, but couldnt open windows and no air conditioning. The hotel appears to be in the middle of a refurbishment. There was free water at reception.

I will start by saying the staff were really lovely, but thats all, room unbearably hot, no air con, i had read reviews before my stay and was prepared for it to be warm, but not to that extent, you can open the windows, which were absolutely filthy and mouldy. Double bed was two singles pushed together, shower was terrible. Like i said before, staff lovely and the free cold bottles of water very welcome, but i wont stay here again.

Good location, but our stay was not great 30+ degrees heat and no working air condition (no windows that would open either)thought our stay. Rooms were given an inadequate fan which did nothing to help the situation. Staff information was “your room is on the west side of the building so you should be fine with the temperature” that was not the chase!

The decor is dated, the walls are paper thin the doors don’t fit the frame so hallway lighting fills the room, the car keys are crap, the windows are peeling ….and I was awoken but drunken people singing and bouncing off the walls all night, value for money is shocking

BIG DISAPPOINTMENT

The phone didn’t work so had to go to reception for 2 pillows as the room only had 2. When we got back to our room I tried to run a bath and the water was stuck on 50 degrees. Went to reception and had to move rooms at 8pm. Got to our room had a bath as exhausted just fell into bed. We didn’t notice the state of the room till next morning as we were both tired. Thick dust on all furniture. Hadn’t been hoovered as there was a few bits of what looked like confetti and the toilet pan was brown. It was our 27th wedding anniversary treat and needless to say.
